I have a bell phone. ...my provider is rogers. Is it safe to flash Rogers firmware on my phone ? I hate all the bell bloatware. Also if I had rogers firmware does that make it easier to update ota? Last time I had to use kies...im guessing thats because I had rogers as my carrier on a bell phone.?? The upgrade comes from the carrier server right?

Hey guys,
Was wondering if it possible to flash a stock Rogers rom onto a bell galaxy s3!
Would that cause any problems?
Thanks in advance!
Same ROM. No point in flashing.

i dont think its the same, the rogers one has apn type settings locked to only 3 choices.
On the att one you can type in manually in a text field.

you are comparing Rogers with ATT
Bell has the EXACT SAME ROM as Rogers
I was also wondering the same. I have a bell s3. The rom is the same but i find bell has more of there own bloatware than the rogers rom. Can the carrier apps be switched by flashing the Rogers csc. If yes does it delete all the bell bloatware and is it going to factory reset my phone.

Hey,
I bought a rogers galaxy s3, and I unlocked it but now I want to use the bell software on it....can I just load the image using odin?
Yes.
It is not Rogers to Bell that will be an issue but moving from LG1 to LH1 to JB -- there are good posts on how to do this and a couple of threads full of posts with the possible issues that can result if you don't do it correctly.
Mixxy has directions for using Odin to go from stock Bell LH1 to JB. Other's have used Mobile Odin successfully. There are two threads with good directions and CWM flashable JB roms also for AT&T phones which apply to Rogers the same on how to install the latest Bell JB leak.

If it will not install, use mobile odin pro from chainfire.you can bypass any install errors.

No you won't loose SIM unlock by upgrading. You will lose root if you were, which you're not so you're good there.

And yes kies or ODIN are your only bets of getting the update onto your phone.

Upgrade done
Thanks, I got the update with Kies.
Can u guys help me how to remove all the Tmobile customized stuff and also add video calling feature.
Here in India we use video call through 3G network (UMTS) and not thriugh wifi or ant data plan
The Tmobile US version of S II is really great, far more superior than the international one.
Thanks for your help

You need to root with these instructions

I have a T-Mobile gs3 but i am using it on Wind mobile. Do i get the jelly bean update when T-mobile gets it, or when Wind gets it?
Neither, T-Mobile wont push it on Wind network and Wind will only be updating their T999V.
You will have to manually update.
Check the firmware thread in my sig. It has everything you need to do so. Usee root66 version of the firmware if you want root.

Nvm, sorry i got it. Thanks
I'm purchasing a Note 2 from another carrier. Telus or Bell but will be using the phone on Rogers network. They all have the same model SGH-i317M but different firmwares? Is this correct? There is no difference between the different Canadian carriers versions of the Note 2 other than the firmware, correct?
If I simply unlock using the unlock code will it function fine on the Rogers network with the Telus firmware? Would it work better if I flash the Rogers firmware?
Once rooted with CWM recovery installed can I flash Rogers/Telus/Bell versions of the firmware with no problems? If I install the Rogers stock Note 2 firmware will I get Rogers OTA updates? If I leave the phone unlocked but rooted with CWM recovery and Telus firmware the phone will continue to get Telus OTA updates?
I've only had nexus phones this far and rooting and flashing has been easy, I understand the process I just don't want to flash the wrong thing.
It should work fine on rogers. All that flashing a rogers rom will do is bloat your phone with rogers ware

Yes u are fine.. same fw different bloat
Same firmware just carrier customized(bloatware). I think if you unlock it will give you the ota for whatever carrier you are on. But you should go with custom roms anyways. You will get a 4.2.2 rom long before you get an update. I use aosp but I hear cleanrom and skynote are the best tw roms.
