[Q] Inc2 won't charge - What is VZW replacing it with? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

My son's Incredible 2 won't charge, plug it in and getting flashing orange light for about 15-20 seconds then nothing... tried a different battery and 3 chargers and same result so am planning on filing a post-warranty defect claim with Verizon (it's under Total Mobile Protection plan).
Anybody do this recently? So they have any Incredible 2's or are they replacing it with something else as a "standard" replacement?
Thanks!
EDIT: FYI... they do not have Incredible 2's anymore, but they are replacing it with HTC Droid DNA, my son should have his replacement Monday or Tuesday.

Wow... Inc2 to DNA? Damn...

I placed a claim on both of the lines on my account on the same day. We each had a incredible. Mine came first, it was a refurb incredible. SO's came the next day, inc2. Luck of the draw, but I still love my incredible, the inc2 feels strange and isn't a huge upgrade.

[Q] T-Mobile Warranty Replacement

Does T-Mobile still offer the G2 as a replacement for a G2 or do they now have a "like model" phone?
They should still have a bunch of refurbished ones still laying around.

I'd shoot myself (and them) if they tried that
I heard they're back on Tmobile.com so they should still have them in stock to replace

If it is a warranty replacement then I personally have never had to pay anything including shipping (standard) if it is a claim for assurian then I believe the cost is 130.00.

Yes they certainly do. But if it's still has factory warranty, (which I highly doubt by now) then you can just go through HTC for replacement. I'm not sure but you can try.
Ohh u guys are all talking about replacement by htc?? I thought this was that ~$5 a month insurance plan that tmobile offers if u break ur phone or if it's stolen. Also engadget had an article saying that tmobile was once again selling the g2 so I'm sure they have a bunch of new inventory that they would give as replacements
If you go through tmobile it is a $5 replacement. What I can't figure out, a month ago I was having battery problems, and they gave me the option for a replacement g2, or a mytouch 4g slide.
I took the slide, and I love the phone itself, its way faster and sleeker than the g2, but not being able to s-off and lack of development has me coming back to the g2. Also I'm not a sense fan at all, and due to the lack of devs, they don't have a stable cm7 aosp..
Today, no kidding, my wifes phone took and dump and won't charge either. We called tmobile up, and they weren't offering another phone as a replacement. Just a g2. So she is getting her replacement g2 Tuesday, and I'm going to switch phones with her miss my g2 and can't wait to root the new one and load up some roms and be able to change radios again!!
If you decide to use the $5/mth insurance way, they also charge you an additional 130 on top of having to pay the 5 bux a mth which I think is a rip off.

Yup keyword though is with contract so that's not full price...
I never pay full price I think that's useless especially since I keep a phone for a while it'll be two yrs this fall and I might just get the one s or g4x if the rumor is true but only if the g3 doesn't come. By fall the one series will probably be less than 200 because there's always a sale during the winter holidays

refurb isnt necessarily a bad thing... refurbs go thru a LOT more testing than a new unit to ensure usability and stability... new phones you have more chances to get a bad device... id say take the refurb because it holds your original warranty....

Verizon warranty experience

I changed this into a my progress thread. I have verizon and insurance.
I tested everything on the phone over a 24hr period. And here is progress.
Still using phone 2 as of now.
Phone 1 - random reboots.
Phone 2 - proximity sensor failure, vertical banding
Phone 3 - 2-3 screen purple, loses full signal and data then comes back. Few times a day. Basically like a ping out. Timeout. Whatever.
Phone 4 - coming tomorrow 8-15 maybe this one will be good!
Phone four is good so far! No data drops. Good screen. Korean model.

question is, i'm ocd about my phones, they say its a refurb and they don't know if its been used and has gone over a 100 point inspection. but has the screen ever been touched and such? scratched etc.??
im sending back because i have issues with proximity sensor in the phone and defect screen.
this is going to be my third replacement, my second however i did within the 14 days of buying the phone so they gave me a new one off the shelf.

I've had 14 replacements. I've had only one that didn't look brand new and that was due to the protectors shifting when it shipped. They are pristine when you get them.

I got my phone replaced once for screen ghosting. I'm almost certain this "refurb" is BRAND NEW. They even re-apply the oliophobic coat. I'm very pleased with Verizons return department and I'm pretty sure the lemons people got weren't verizons fault.

whats this coat your talking about?
my first replacement was within the 14 day period, my phone was randomly rebooting every day.
this is going to be my third nexus, this time proximity sensor doesn't function even after recalibration and such.
i'm just worried that i'm going to get a phone worse off then my current. since there are so many bad ones out there, and i've heard of horror stories of refurb nexus's on youtube and such.
I would trust a refurb from Verizon over a new unit. They're all tested thoroughly and any parts replaced are new...
You would think that however there are tons of people who go through more then four replacements trying to get a good one from Verizon. There are videos of un boxing and having issues from first power on.

when one reports to Verizon about a fault in the phone and they send you a refurb/recertified phone, do I send them my current phone first or I can just sit on it and ask for a replacement and just walk to a verizon store and return there?

You have 5 days or so to ship the faulty phone back upon receiving your new phone. They pay for the shipping both ways. If it is faulty just tell them you have already wiped data etc....battery pull blah blah blah so they don't make u do it and you aren't tied up on the phone. So glad I pay the $6.99 for TEC from asurion on both my lines. This process the few times I have had to do it is relatively painless.

In perfect condition however and most users will fall under either poor or fair condition which results in like 15 to 20$ not worth it if you ask me if your going to keep it. If I were to get atleast 50 then yeah. But what's stupid is the evo gets more money yet its even older than the epic
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Condition doesn't matter. If it's not good enough for them to use as a refurb, it gets parted out or recycled. Working, not working, cracked screen, whatever $32 right now.

I wouldn't want to sell mine back anyway, i'd keep it for testing purposes and because mine is still in great shape

I'm actually very impressed with the aging hardware of the epic.. It'll be the first phone I wouldn't be seriously disappointed falling back on in case a new phone broke. For this reason, I suggest you hang onto it.

Find a phone ATM near you (google it), I'm sure the machine will give you more than sprint... but as others have said, I will never get rid of my epic, especially for less than $50... (unless it was donated to somebody less fortunate, or a dev)

The reason for that was simply the cost of the Epic $300 vs $200 (I did get a $100 rebate later), because I went to the store to buy an Evo, but the Epic had just arrived and when I saw the displays side by side, it was no contest. Epic was and stii is superior. That happens often though, the best gets beaten by lesser tech due to price (ala VHS vs Betamax)

Also notice how Samsung's flagship device release is relatively close to the release of HTC's flasgship device. This has happened multiple times including the first Android phones on Sprint
HTC Hero->Samsung Moment
HTC Evo->Samsung Epic 4G

Maybe true, but HTC has many loyal customers. I like HTC Sense a lot, and although the S3 certainly seems like a better phone software-wise, I am still more interested in the EVO LTE because I prefer Sense over TouchWiz. Also, the EVO LTE has a kickstand! I may be one of the few people who still actually use it.
HTC vs Samsung boils down to user preference.
