BT audio call quality (mic only) - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Has anyone else experienced poor microphone quality over Bluetooth on their VZW HTC One?
I'm able to stream audio perfectly well, and I also hear the person on the other end, in a call with clarity. I am however receiving complaints from those who I'm calling saying that it's not as clear as when it's on speaker (yes, my windows are rolled all the way up).
I'm using the same setup which I used on my Galaxy Nexus, no hardware changes other than the One.
The BT accessory I'm using is the Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit - supports aptX
Any help for troubleshooting/workarounds/known issues (consensus)/solutions would be very helpful.
With gratitude,
-MM (anyone know how to change my XDA username?)

I don't have that accessory but both my vehicles have the bluetooth in the navigation screen thingy and I haven't gotten any complaint. Although I haven't specifically asked if I sound weird or anything.
Sent from my HTC One.

My call quality has degraded ever since the small update Verizon pushed out earlier this week. I am having the exact same issue.

I have numerous BT headsets and all my friends say sound on their end is horrible, like the mic is way over sensitive (too loud) and becomes distorted/garbled. I am pulling out my hair. Drive a truck, must use headset.

1. smooth A2DP (skipping in case of high proc. usage e.g. wifi brosin and stereo bt music simultanous)
2. after a call music resumes and in the earphone.
3. AVRCP
4. Caller ID ! u can see both the name & the number on the lcd ( with jetware ).

I'll have the Jabra BT620s in the mail today... I'll post a review asap.
Jabra BT headphone
As promised;
I got the Jabra headset yesterday, and last night I was able to try it. First of all, sound quality is better than expected. Setup was somewhat confusing, since the manual is not so clear. But, I managed. Made a couple of phonecalls, all fine. Overall, nice set of headphones. Luckily, the flashing blue leds can be turned off.
Hi
I use the Anycom BSH-100. The Headset is not bad at all, with HS/HF/A2DP/ AVRRCP and a up to 200 h standby + upto 12 h music playtime.
Tech data here: http://www.anycom.com/products/bluetooth_audio_video/stereo_headset_bsh_100/?id=102&partno=CC3300
There is no buildin Microphone. A small (about 3 cm) mic is attacht to the side mini usb-jack. This mini usb-jack is also used to charge the batteries. Most of the time i forgett the mic, when charging the Headset, so i use the Headset often to listen to mp3s and recive calls without using the headset. ( a bild in Mic would be better) The headset goes to mute when a call comes in.

+ (plus):
Handling is very easy.
Long Standby & playtime
small transport size (faltable)
- (minus):
seperate Mic
Sound Quality is OK but not as good as a normal wired-headset. (maybe normal for BT)
no option to turn of the flashing blue led

Hi, Anyone using Jabra Bt320 with the Touch? I tired to connect for stereo headset but its fails. I had the same problem with Dopod 810 but some after making some changes in the registry the problem was solved. I tired the same tweaks in Touch but it fails. Any suggestion from the forum? Thanks
I used the BT320
and the stereo was fine. I also made the adjustments to the registry and it carried on working fine.
However, I sent the unit back because I bought a Jabra 120s with it and found that, after initial pairing problems (which went away), there was an audio lag which made watching TV rubbish!
When you pair with the BT320s, you should have the option to use it as either
1. a hands-free or
2. wireless stereo.
If you don't, delete the device from your Touch then...
...plug the BT320s into it's charger, three times, for 4 seconds each time.
Now pair again and the option for wireless stereo will magically appear.
Try Motorola S9. Nice and solid. Matches Touch design too.

You get what you pay for comes to mind with BT headsets.
I have yet to come across one headset that plays great stereo sound
and gives you great call quality. However, for stereo sound the Motorola
S9 kicks arse over anything out there and the Jawbone does the voice
calls better than anyone out there. S9 is around $100US and the Jawbone
is $130US ish. Not cheap but you won't be looking to replace them because
they don't do their job. Now if you have a big melon the S9 maybe a problem.
AE!
Hi.
I got the HT820 from Mototola.
Sound is good.
Easy installation on Touch.
Noise cancelling.
Looks a little bit spacy but fits good.
AND I payed 12€ for it on ebay.de.
I use BT320s
Hi,
I am using Jabra BT320s, It just works fine with my Touch. I did the in pairing initially, but after I upgraded with latest firmware I don't have any problem in pairing.
firmware can be found here

Please read the instruction to update the firmware
Well i got the Motorola BT820 last week, very satisfied
great sound nice volume, little weakness but accepteble by my standard
when theres a lot of static noise the build in mic does piick up on that a bit.
i use it for mp3 mostly, and o yeah its comfortoble too
price is nice if i compare to other headsets,
still thinking about trying the new logitech headset
is there anybody who has experienced it
I have posted a question regarding a small problem with the Bb20s right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326489
This is a description of my problem, as posted. Does anyone have an idea?

Received my Jabra 620s yesterday. First impressions: it is quite big and heavy, but it is better than earplugs ;-) Sounds quality is quite good.
Here is my problem: After pairing the headset with my device, everything behaves as expected until some event (this happend on multiple occasions, different trigger but the same result): the headset controls still function (i.e. I can skip songs etc), but the HTCs audio is routed to the HTC speaker instead of the headset. I cannot fix this, the only way is to remove the bluetooth connection, repair and I am good to go again.
I'd second the comment on the Motorola S9. I got the S9 to go with my old magician, but now that I've upgraded to the Touch, things are even better.
The S9 workd flawlessly for stereo music and also as a regular hands free headset. I can't tell you how many times I've been out jogging, litening to music and I get a cal from people. They say the call sound quality is good, but always wonder why I'm breaking fast.
I hve changed to HTC BH S100 (in-ear is better for jogging)
sound quality is good, no problems...yeah should be no problems when using HTC stuff only ;-)
i found the Motorola S9s to be outstanding. I have never been so happy with a BT headet.
Sony DR-BT30 Q
Got it for 34 euro's and they make me happy.
Good reach on the touch compared to my wizard

Poor Bluetooth audio quality

Hi there I bought a Sony MEX-BT2800 radio this weekend and it has a built-in Bluetooth receiver for phone and music. My EVO pairs fine with the radio but the sound quality is really poor I have background static and a hissing noise whenever the bluetooth is being used. I thought perhaps it was the radio so I tried my phone on there floor model and I had the same noise problems. It could very well be the radio but some reviews I've read online from other buyers say there Bluetooth audio is crystal clear using there Iphones. I had my old HTC Excalibur lying around so I threw some mp3's on it and tried that phone on my radio and the static was still there but much quieter and the hissing noise was gone. So now I'm thinking it could be the phones Bluetooth radio that's causing the excessive static.
So I guess my main question is. Is there anyway to possibly adjust the bluetooth driver or audio stack to work better with my radio. I remember back in my G1 days Cyanogen would release new roms with bluetooth stack fixes.
This might be self-explanatory, but double check that the volume on your phone is all the way up when streaming. I get some hissy noise when the media volume is low, but I know that the sound quality of the bluetooth on the EVO is very good when paired with my car audio (at top volume), might be that you have a defective device.
Yeah I tried some different volume settings. Tried low med and high volumes on the phone didn't really matter what volume was on the phone. It must be the built in bluetooth module in this radio. I'm assuming your setup uses an external bluetooth module?
I have a Dual brand deck installed and I also bought a separate bluetooth adapter (with a mic and a 'call' button) that attaches to the rear of the deck via a cable, made by the same company. Maybe see if you can try connecting your EVO to a different type of audio device, if the problem persists your phone is likely at fault.
I'm having the same issues with my EVO on a different device - specifically the blackberry bluetooth media gateway. I have a little more technical details posted over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7170018#post7170018
I've noticed a lag while using Plantronics Discovery headset. The headset was working fine previously with an HTC Fuze. So, I was under the impression that this was probably due to a faulty blue tooth stack on the device. Has anyone else had similar experience with Plantronics or other blue tooth headsets?

[Q] GS3 and Eclipse CD5030 - no BT audio

as the title states, I have connected the two devices and for some reason i couldn't hear the person i am talking with. But the person i called can here me loud and clear.
Troubleshooting done...
1. Connected an iphone4 and it does work. That means the TX/RX of my car stereo is working properly.
2. I then tried connecting my GS3 to a different bluetooth speaker, it is working proplerly. Making calls and streaming audio.
What should i consider looking for to find a fix? My doubts are the compatibility of the bluetooth. If it is, is it possible to fix it?
Thanks
I have a similar issue on my pioneer 80prs and eclipse mkii 7200 where tli hear them but they can't hear me... My phone mic gets used as the input method instead of my decks mic.... Never solves it and it only started doing this once I got to jelly bean back on my galaxy nexus

I see. Well i have tried loading a different rom thinking that was the case and sadly still does the same thing. The only weird part was i can hear all the touch sound on the phone thru the car's speakers but when call/music is initiated you can't hear nothing.
I have found a solution by selling the HU and getting a new one. This time i will be asking the seller if it is compatible or not.

Sound is the fatal flaw of the G3

I really like this phone, everything about it is great for me EXCEPT the sound quality. Anything that has to do with the headphone jack is an absolute disaster.
First off I have not experienced the dreaded AUX problem but I have experienced random pausing and skipping - as if I was pressing music controls on my headset - both in my car and on my headphones. I think a headphone jack is starting to wear?
Next I have experienced terrible distortion and static in the left channel, that was until I rooted and Installed Viper4Android. While the problem didn't go away entirely its much better than stock.
Im using my g3 with 3 or 4 devices....
My Acura's line in with Subs/Amps ect.
Shure SE846 In ear monitors
Fiio e6 amp (with the shures, sometimes helps sound quality)
Bluetooth to my Bose Soundlink
The flaws of the g3's sound output are noticeable on any of these, even the bluetooth soundlink and ESPECIALLY, on the SE846 direct.
I created this thread because I dont know what to do, its apparent I am an audiophile and care about my sound quality and youd think Id invest in some sort of MP3 player (I do have a Clip+ ) but I really enjoy using spotify. Should I buy a DAC and just avoid the g3s sound card all together or call and fight with LG and see what they can do?
Is anyone else having these problems? I have the Verizon Device.
I use Westone's connected through a Sony SB52. I haven't noticed any issue except that I like Sony's Walkman app better on my Xperia than LG's player.
I'm fairly picky about music quality and I haven't noticed any issues at all with my HD419s (the only headphones I have right now). Audio quality through aptx bluetooth directly to a car amp and polk component speakers is as good as one would expect too. No skipping or pausing with LG's app. Is that happening when your screen is on? Try turning it off, maybe it's a screen issue? Or maybe it's a glitch with the app you are using? The only problem I had with it was how quiet it was with headphones but the fix with root worked well.
There are several threads about the strange hissing sound - which I also got myself. LG has told me that they're working on fixing it and that it's a known flaw in the current ROMs.
I just got mine and I think this is the best sounding phone I have ever heard. Of course my expectations were very low after my experience with Apple and Samsung.
This opinion is coming from a very jaded HiFi gearhead so your mileage may vary.
The problem I'm facing..
There is noise+distortion+hissing during call
And when headphones are connected I cant understand or listen any thing I only hear wired noises..
Any fix guys ?
Dont know if its technical or software based issue
The sound quality has been noticeably bad for me using headphones also, bluetooth isn't too much of a problem and works fine.
I just got my headphone jack replaced free from LG (as it was doing the random skipping thing) - I quoted that it was a known problem (i mean look on XDA for all the threads) and as my phone was under warranty, i flashed stock firmware and sent it back - when i got it back in 48 hours it was replaced and working. They even cleaned the screen for me lol.
I don't use a headset, only headphones, and the quality is most noticeable on my sennheiser hd800s, but also on my beyerdynamic headphones. Install Viper audio and it improves slightly.
I got mine replaced today as well.
New phone bingo !!

Poor call quality when using iPhone/Apple earbuds for microphone?

Hello everyone!
I'm currently using the standard Apple/iPhone white earbuds as a mic for making calls so I can have my hands free.
A few callers have reported that the call quality sounds poor, echo-y, as if I am using speakerphone to call them. Once I remove the earbuds and hold the phone next to my head to talk to them, they report drastic improvement.
I've tried:
- multiple pairs of Apple earbuds with the same results.
- signal strength is always strong but same results
- different physical locations with the same results
Anybody experiencing the same?

I did once. I think I just didn't have the headphones plugged in properly or all the way snapped in. Today I was determined to find a pair that worked well with phone calls and I first tried the apple buds. They worked perfectly and crystal clear. Try a different kind of bud to see if any are working. Stock rom?
