My OGP used to be able to charge in around or less than 2h on the wall charger but lately it takes almost 4h to fully charge. I don't know what happened. The battery life seems to be the same. Any ideas?
silly question. tried with another charger?

Tried three different chargers all the same. Even the car charger is slower than before.
Try blowing out the micro-USB port with compressed air. Maybe some dust or pocket fluff got in there and is causing a poor connection?

Have you ever tried that? Will give it a shot. Thanks.

This isn't a problem but more of just a general question. So does anyone else experience your phone kinda lagging or having screen sensitivity issues (have to press hard on screen to scroll) while having the phone charge? This is like a 50/50 thing sometimes it does this sometimes not. So post your experiences with this

Yes indeed. In my case, it's caused by my HTC USB cable that came with the phone. When I use the charger from my old LG ENV3, i never get that problem at all. As soon as I switch to the HTC cable, it's nearly un-usable whilst plugged in. It's odd, because the HTC cable works fine for charging and transferring data, so I don't know, but there's something wonky with it.
Hmm interesting

Nope, you're not. It can certainly become rather annoying if you're trying to use your phone while it's charging.
Yea, using swype is IMPOSSIBLE when plugged in.
I never used to have this problem before, so I wonder if this is something that comes with age of the phone. I've run all kinds of roms/kernels and never had this issue until maybe a month ago. But I think I've successfully narrowed it down.
You need a charger that outputs 5v at 1000mA. Any more or less and you'll get the wonky response. I have an 800mA and a 1.5A charger at 5v and I get the laggy response. And I took it a step further and noticed that I get maximum charging speed (regardless of kernel, I've tried stock and custom/SBC kernels) with a 28/24 AWG or 24/24 AWG micro USB cable. If you still rock the stock HTC charger/cable combo you should be golden.

i don't think its from age of the phone because i just got my phone in december (hw 0004) and i am still using the stock htc charger/cable. so idk its a mystery. nice work finding all that out tho its good to know that i am not the only person who experiences this haha.
I only get the problem when I'm plugged into A/C power, but not when I'm plugged into the D/C car charger... I think it has something to do with how the outlet is grounded. Maybe the touchscreen gets confused by getting grounded through the charging port rather than through your body. I'm basically making this up based on hazy memories from an E&M class I took about 8 years ago, but I think it's close. Anybody with any actual knowledge care to correct me?
First thing, sorry if this has been answered before. The thread search never works from my phones. It just disappears as soon as my keyboard appears.
Is there a way to fix the USB /charging port to keep it from being so touchy? I've tried new factory data /charge cable. I've tried expensive brand name cables. They all seem to work for a more th or two pretty well and then its back to charge/not charge sometimes without even touching the phone.
This has been the way with every Samsung phone I've owned and it is so aggravating because, as I'm trying to type or while playing a game it interrupts and causes lags and also the battery will die while I think its charging if I can't see a battery icon.
Other than sending both my phones in for new USB jacks/ports, is there something I can do? I'm pretty capable at fixing electronics if not too technical.
seem to be having bad luck with your ports i would suggest a new charger but im sure you've done that a plentiful of times or you just have really bad luck with phones thats stuff get an iphone JK!!! lol you stick to samsung chargers not no after market stuff right ? and does the cable feel securely tighten or loose when you plug it ? is this phone old new you could have a dirty port spray some air can in that port to clear debris
Hey, thanks for your reply.
I think this problem stems from me being on the phones a lot and I have the the charging /data cable in a lot to keep the battery up. With that, the constant mmovement of up and down from table /desk top, to ear,or car seat /center console to my pocket as im in and out of my car.
The cable always feels loose in the jack. Im sure the jack is stretched open. The chip that is inside, may be has worn and the edges of the board slightly filed down making a loose connection .
Anyways, Ive already had to start charging the battery directly. I've also got a replacement ordered. That's why I pay for insurance right?
So we can put this thread to bed. Thanks
I have the same problem... I'm on my 3rd Galaxy s2...... Phone can be on charger at 15% let it charge for a few hours and when I go back to check on it, it says 10% battery.. I've bought several chargers and batteries... TMobile just keeps sending me the same phone out.. I just got another one on the 13th... What could be the cause of this... Also the phone shuts off while charging... So many dropped calls.. I give up on this phone... What can I do..

Same problem here. The best luck is (oddly) using a computer (instead of a wall charger) and charging while the phone is off. And, the original Samsung charger block and USB are the least reliable of all I have tried. The microUSB end of the cable is slightly undersized. Note: removing the battery completely (while not connected by cable) for 10sec seems to improve the charging.
It has been a good phone but 3 years might be all it can handle. Xperia Z3 compact, here I come.
Hi everyone! My phone is having a problem. It was fine until today.
My phone charge EXTREMELY SLOW and decrease battery percentage sometimes. Then I used Battery Monitor Widget to check my phone and what I saw was terrible!!! The energy go into the phone was only <100 mA, while it was >200mA on my friend's Zenfone 4. Then I tested on a new battery, it still had that problem
And now, I'm wondering about this: Is my phone's charging port cause this problem???
I suppose that a bad port may be possible. How old are both batteries though? Even if you just got one, keep in mind many S3 batteries have been on the shelf for a long time. I've had 2 in the past that were bad even though they were brand new.

Try getting a 2amp charger. and a fast USB charger from ebay.
It is probably a bad port. I know the port on my phone is bad, i have to wiggle it to get it to start charging sometimes and sometimes I have to wiggle it to get it to charge faster. If it is the port, you can either try to solder a new one on, they are $5 on amazon, or pay someone to do it which can be very expensive. Or you could go with a wireless charging solution.
It's often not the port like many people think. I have several cables that will only charge if there is pressure on one side or you set it down with the cable being pulled a certain direction. Other cables work perfectly fine though. These micro USB cables go bad in this way all the time. So always be sure it's not the cable before trying to mess with the port itself.

So if my phone is Dash charging, I sometimes get a tingling sensation if I touch the metal of the phone. Almost like a low level electric shock/pins and needles type feeling. If it starts to happen, I can make it stop by disconnecting the USB cable from the phone...
I know it sounds a bit crazy, but has anyone else experienced or noticed this?
No, not for me
No, definitely not. And to be honest, I think u should get a replacement!
I experience that too, even with normal chargers, and I measured 0.5V Ac from the phone Metal to the protective. Not sure why I measure Ac voltage because the phone charges with DC current.
If I get free time I will investigate it with an oscilloscope at the university.
No I haven't. I'd be concerned and would at least contact OnePlus.
I get the same feeling with my aluminium laptop. You see, most appliances with metal cases require grounding. It is done with the 3rd pin of your power connector (pin, hole, schucko on the sides, whatever). Phone chargers and many new laptop chargers don't have that. The designers decided that the static electricity problem would bother people less than having a big wall plug.
Plug your charger to the wall the other way (turn it 180 degrees), sometimes it helps (depends on charger design for your country).
Yup, the adapter needs to go in the right way.

Got the same sensation ! (happy to see other people with the same)
But not only during charging, when I handle it with one hand (and when it is set "screen against the ground" and that I touch it) I also feel this thing. Should I talk to OnePlus? Then replacement ?
Yeah ditto same. I thought it was the vibration motor being loose or being triggered unintentionally when charging.

Even I have the same problem.
i also got this tingling feeling while charging but i think it Is normal because i get such feeling with other metal phones too
Same here
Thats fue to a faulty ground connection on you home electric system. Happens on old houses or on poorly made wall sockets. Happened to me on other devices and was my wall socket missing ground connection.

Thanks everyone, it seems benign so I won't worry about it anymore. It's my first time with a metal uni body phone! I'm in the UK so the charger should be grounded by the three pin plug. The house is old so maybe the electrics aren't fantastic...
could be your power wiring. maybe some induction current. thats why im using an extension cord with a build in fuse / filter
Nope not from me

Do we need replacement? Or it is fine?
Yes. It has to do something with grounding I guess. I had the same issue. I posted it above. Tried reversing the pins and charging and the same. It doesn't have a third plug for grounding tho (Indian Norm). I was using a 3 Pin extension but still experiencing the same. Need to contact Oneplus now I guess? It doesn't effect when you have a rubber cover on. But I am afraid it will ruin my phone or something or what. Idk lol

Saturday night I had my phone on the charger overnight. When I woke up, it was still low and had not charged. I played with the cable and got it to start charging, but not properly. I figured it was probably a bad cable or charger, not sure why though. So I used a zero lemon case that worked fine. My charger in the car worked okay too. Fast forward to this morning and the phone now displays as being plugged into usb and charging something - see attached. Plugging in any other chargers changes nothing. Powering off will show a charging icon. I doubt it's a software issue but it could be I suppose, but I suspect I have a bad charging port. It's currently wireless charging, but still displaying the message in the status bar. Stock ROM, custom kernel. Any ideas? I will probably try a reflash tonight to see if it changes anything. Edit: not a kernel issue, switched kernels and same issue. I'm almost certain this is a bad usb port but I've never experienced a bad one before.
Is it still attached to the Zero Lemon case? It looks like the phone is charging it. If nothing is attached, then the port might be goofed. Did you try cleaning any lint out of it? Use a toothpick or plastic dental flosser. DO NOT use a paperclip or anything else metal as it could damage the port.

It's not. I did find that it will charge when connected to a PC, but not a charger. Port is clean as far as I can tell.

Have you tried a different wall charger, reversing the cable, same cable different charging block, etc? Does the notification persist all the time, only after it's plugged in, does rebooting remove it?

I have, three different chargers, all with different cords. One of them is the same cord I used to connect it to a PC a minute ago, and USB and charging work when connected to a PC. Reboot does nothing, the notification persists until it's plugged into a PC.
I had this issue too, was freaking out. Cleaned the USB c port with a dental pick and got some lint out, still no good.
So...I powered off the device. Wrapped a thin layer of iso alcohol wipe on the dental stick and cleaned as good as I could. After a few seconds of drying, used a aerosol duster to blow out the port.
Been fine for months now.
An update, in the usb preferences screen, if I select USB controlled by this device, it will charge normally. Seems more like a software issue, but if it's acting weird when off, would it be? When off it would indicate a firmware or hardware issue. At least I would think.
Had the same thing happen to me, its a faulty use port. Contacted support and they got me a new phone. The only bad part is you gotta have a credit card to have them send it out

Please don't use a toothpick to clean USB ports. I did that some time ago and broke some pins, just slightly, so it sometimes worked, sometimes it didn't. Replacing the jack (was a different waterproof phone) was a pain and cost a quite a bit of money.
Try to wash it down with alcohol and blow it lightly with compressed air, several times.

Yeah, I found that out. Kinda crappy. Other option is to send in and wait. Turn around time, 10-15 business days. Seriously? They know these devices are important for our daily lives now, they expect someone to wait that long?

I had to RMA my P2XL and I did the option where you send it in then they send the replacement. I think they send the replacement once they see the original has been shipped. I dropped mine off at UPS and the next day I got an email saying my replacement was being sent out.
