Why do you think there is no vibrator in the N7?

Cost cutting.
It cost money , and when you sell a tablet for 229$ with a high end CPU , 2GB of DDR3 memory , and a 1920X1200 7" IPS screen you need to cut corners where its the least noticble ..
Because it's useless.

I wouldn't go that far, but I usually disable it for keyboards and such. There's plenty of possibilities for it.

I really like the haptic feedback for the kayboard , the click sound does help to some degree, but when you need to mute the device it feels weird to type.. its not useless , but its better to cut this corner then something like the device's body with feels amazing, more when you remember the soft touch is just plastic.
The motor is the biggest user of battery. It kills battery.
But it is a nice accessory to have. I enjoy unlocking my nexus to a gentle rumble. It works on something's but useless for most. Plus such a large device would probably need a decent motor. I guess they feel haptic feedback is wasted on such a large device. Cost savings, I can't say. Even at a $1 a motor across $500,000 devices is $500,000 in the pocket.
I don't really notice it honestly.

Does Asus puts haptic feedback in any of its tablets? for example I know that the Note 10.1 has it , so probably other samsung tablets has them too.
I can't think of a tablet off the top of my head with a vibration motor. It's probably due to the fact that on a device bigger than about 6 inches, the motor either has to be prohibitively large to be felt equally around the tablet, or it's too localised.
The Toshiba Thrive 10.1 has one, but that's 3 generations ago....
If I remember right the Nexus 10 had one.

A few of the Samsung tablets I used have vibration motors so there's a few at least.
I use my tablet as a laptop replacement, not a phone. I disable haptic on my phone anyway.
This is something I had no idea about. Of well, a small compromise I guess. My Nexus 10 has haptic feedback and I'm quite used to it.

Agreed on "not really a major deal breaker." The Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 haptic was nice, but usually turn off it anyway to save battery.
Would just be a waste of battery. I never use it on any device.

i just dont like how there's no touch to focus on camcorder. other than that this phone is best phone out there! lol
I wish it had some contour to it or something to make it a little easier to hold. When typing one handed I also accidentally hit the search button with my palm because of the size

It is an amazing phone and still the best piece of hardware on the market but other than being huge (which I like) it has no character to it's design. It's a standard looking black slab phone.
Audio quality.
I hate the shape somewhat its like somebody steam press the phone flat. I wish it was the shape of the galaxy nexus. I know I'm being picky but the design of a phone matters alot to me

I can go 2 days on a charge and never have a problem with the AOS bug. It does show up high on the usage list but never has any type of negative impact on battery life.
The only thing I would change about this bad boy is the screen resolution, there are some noticeable jaggies when playing some games. I wouldn't however be accepting of a pentile screen to achieve the higher resolution. I had the GNEx for a bit and I don't care what anyone says, you CAN definitely tell it's a pentile. That was one of the reasons why I returned it.
Hmm for once I can say I am pretty satisfied, but if I had to pick...It would be the slight delay we experience when pressing the power button to wake the phone. From what I have seen on here it is a power saving feature and has something to do with the phone sleeping, so I am actually ok with that. The other thing would be the build materials of course. Being a former HTC guy, I missed the matte finish and metals, but now I am actually in love with how light and thin my phone is. Can't wait to see whats next for samsung !
I can't complain about this phone (The SGSII). It's a solid powerhouse of a phone with a killer battery. Great piece of hardware.
I can however complain about the E4GT, Sprint's terrible take on the phone. No NFC, odd design because of the bigger screen (which I like the big screen, just not the design), Sprint blocks certain apps in the market that are compatible with the SGSII, beta builds of ICS have leaked for other versions of the SGSII, but Sprint is still patching GB for some ODD reason, oh and WiMax *puke*.
Based lil b
my only complaint is the audio dac also, the only way to get adequate sound is with the neutron player, but is has such a terrible user interface lol
Great phone otherwise, especially with the new 29 modem, IMO of course
Most are mentioned already but ..
Battery door creaks
Too Thin/ Design
Battery Life
Resolution
Gingerbread
Sprints crappy network
Only things I wish it had was a better resolution and LTE, aside from that I love everything else, including the design.
power button should be on top.
It has a worse sound card than the first galaxy s'es including the nexus s.
They had a wolfson, which is a major difference in sound quality on headphones and specker.
Also same with the audio mic.
So this means no voodoo sound improvements for these new sii'es including the galaxy nexus.
No nfc (shocked)
No lte.
No 3d.
No kickstand.
Awkward design compared to T-Mobile's
No ics until summer or fall...maybe later knowing its Samsung
No dual flash.
Has capitiated buttons rather than on screen ones
The back hump
Screen Res too low
Should be thinner
Small battery
The only thing I'd do is move the power button the slightly downwards to be a bit more comfortable to use.
thats it.
make the GSM version come with extended battery from the start.
Better camera.
Better battery.
Everything else is really nice
Defenitely better battery.
i think a 4470 would have been better for those that are going to keep it for 2 years (like me) and I also wish it would have come with the extended battery standard

Oh yeah... and how could I forget? a more stable and reliable way of selling the Galaxy Nexus especially to non-Verizon customers.
I would like a more powerful vibration notification. I keep my phone in my dress slacks front pocket which doesn't keep the phone snug against my leg, and I am mostly in loud environments where a ringer can't be heard or in quiet office environments where I need to keep my ringer off. I have missed quite a few calls because of this and now I need to frequently check my phone for missed calls/texts.

Hi
Three months ago, I sold my nexus and got note 2 for 600 usd. Spending so much didn't make me feel good so after 3 months I sold to the and got my nexus as part of the deal.
The fact is that note 2 is such an upgrade. Fast, great screen, wonderful battery life and good software support. But it has to be used with 2 hands.
Now I am keeping the money to buy the nexus 5 with 32 gb and 3000 mah based on the rumours of Web.

This is 1 of the main reasons I don't see myself upgrading my GN any time soon, 1 handed operation is a must.
Played with bro's S4(sort of similar to N5 screen/body dimensions) and found one handed use with my normal sized thumb uncomfortable to reach easily around the entire screen.
Also really helps running my GN in tablet mode via the same 4.1.2 PA 2.54 ROM for the last 12 months and in extended desktop mode with pie pro.
The only real issue with the GN is the battery life, which is not an big deal most of the time since I have chargers at home/work/car.

Well that's kind of expected since the GN was the FIRST smartphone made by Samsung to feature a 4.65" Super AMOLED screen with HD resolution 2 YEARS ago and the mistake at the time was choosing the wrong CPU/GPU combo to power an HD screen running the all new Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus-review-699.php
An easier way to see the screen size differences:
http://www.comparetvsizes.com/
You do get used the size of the note 2. I quite often use my N2 one handed of course 2 is better. To each their own. I find the convenience of a big screen out weight having a small screen you can use one handed*easier*

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a new tablet and the G Pad seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. It is a similar size to the Nexus 7 but with a much larger screen. I have a couple of Nexus 7 2012s and they are excellent, with lots of great development tools and ROMs but the G Pad's bigger screen, thinner bezel and SD card slot are very attractive.
The 8" galaxy tab has the same but lower spec hardware.
My only reservation is LG - they were a bunch of pricks with support for the Optimus 3D. Do you guys like this tablet? Or should I get something else? To reiterate, I want something with up to date specs, SD card preferably, a small form factor and a device that doesn't give any hassle with rooting and flashing.
Have you guys run into any problems with your G Pads?
Edit: I've read issues on this forum such as unlockable boot loader (with workaround), yellow hue screen, frying SD cards, poor audio etc. Are these genuine issues?
Thanks

The non-unlockable bootloader isn't really an issue since it's been bypassed with Loki, which gets used for everything that needs to get by the bootloader. The yellow-toned screen is an issue for some people, but not others. It can be balanced out with screen tweak apps if you do have a yellowish screen. I've only seen one or two instances of sd cards getting fried, so I don't think that's a real issue. The speakers aren't great, but they really aren't any worse than any other tablet.
Apart from that, the screen brightness is lower than some other tablets, but that's only an issue if you like running a Nexus 7 on 100% brightness. Also, there's the blue line on the screen that a lot of people see. For most, it's extremely narrow and barely noticeable and doesn't seem to affect performance at all.

by a point against which nobody speaks (I must surely be the only one to have noticed ...) are very average battery life: standby no problem, like it several days, but I can not exceeded 4 hours screen on.
(brightness max 60%)
whereas with my samsung tab 7.7 I easily like 7:00 with the brightness at 100%.
this is the only thing that really disappoints me about this tablet
Cheers for the responses. I'm also thinking about the very similar Asus Memo Pad 8, if anyone has any input?
Things like a black border on a white tablet don't bother me but I think a blue line would get annoying.

Huh? It's barely visible. You have to work hard to be annoyed by it.
Asus is an 8 inch tablet with a 1.6ghz quad core processor, thin bezel, SD card slot etc. Has the stuff I'm looking for.
I have not seen the blue line but will take your word it is barely visible. In that case, all the issues seem pretty minor and I'll get one. Thanks for the advice guys.

Not only that, but it's only noticeable on black backgrounds. It's one of those things that people love to complain about and nitpick about, but in reality it's no big deal and unless you're looking for it you can't see it.
I agree the blue line is not an issue. I think I may have seen it twice in the almost 2 months I have had mine, to me my tablet is perfect I have no complaints at all. The screen is plenty bright enough for me and the colors looks great I don't think mine has the yellow tint issue if it does I don't notice it.

Nice. Form factor seems great. I have a Nexus 7 so it seem unlikely I'd get this though....
I have not had any issues with mine. I really like it a lot. My screen is nice and I get about 7hours of my use with 40percent brightness which is my normal level inside. Mine runs smoothly and the screen really is a big difference to my old eyes coming from a seven inch screen.
Only things I have been disappointed with is the included remote being very limited and no third party one worrying with the ir blaster. And the fact that you cannot move apps to the SD card without rooting.
One of those is pretty minor to me and the other can be worked around by rooting when I need to. Overall I really love this thing.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Trying to decide. Does the back get noticeably warm to anyone? The display unit at BB got pretty warm near the camera area after I was on it for a while..didn't know if this was normal or just bc of display unit use/aluminum conductance
I'm between this and the n7 (2013) coming from a n7 2012

If you wanna have a bigger screen the G Pad is just the right for you.
Otherwise the N7 2013 would be equal and costs a bit less.
Moreover knock on feature would be pro G Pad and the IR blaster.
I am. Coming from a nexus. 7 which I lost. Decided to replace with something larger add I felt the 7 inch screen was not different enough compared to the note 3 own. This tablet is the perfect size and still usable in one hand. It is much better for reading. Browsing and especially PDF. The only negative compared to the nexus was the dinner screen but I use my tablet indoors mostly and the brightness had not been an issue as I rarely go above 60%. Price wise was 65$more than the nexus 7 16 gb but truthfully would have to buy the 32 no expandable storage on nexus. So then price is only 20$different

I will second this question. Most importantly the Axon has these potential issues:
1) A dim display. A review tested the Axon 7 and got only 319 nits at max brightness. This is half of what the Note 7 gets for max nits on manual brightness settings.
2) Poor reception on both cell service and wifi signal. This is because of the metal build. Yes, there are bands built into the metal frame for the antennas, but in another review the Axon 7 had 30 to 40% worse reception than the Note 7.
3) SD card is not able to install apps. Not a big deal really, 64 gb is enough for apps IMHO.
4 The virtual buttons are not backlit and are too close together. Again, something a person can live with.
So #1 and #2 are pretty big problems with the Axon 7. It is a nice looking phone with very nice specs and seems to work well. The battery could have been a little bigger but not a huge deal. And it is not IP rated so water will kill it. Also, the demand has risen for it, it is backordered and/or raised in price on Amazon from it's original price.
Actually I like the a7 a lot. I bought the v20 but have drifted back to the axon again . Screen brightness is fine IMHO. I Haven't had a reception issue. Virtual buttons took notice at all to get used to. Still miss my n7. A friend hasn't given his up yet and it's still better than anything else.

Getting increasingly frustrated with Samsung. How could they mess up such a basic thing as - their phone explodes!! Looking at what else is out there is making me nervous. Everyone plans to offer 6GB ram, 4000 mah battery seems to be on the rise too. And Samsung is coming up with these when? In one whole year??? Dammit if there was a IP68 device with those sepcs coming right now and blue...I would have to bite. I would just have to make notes with my finger and forget the rest of pen functions. Ugh.
