i just dont like how there's no touch to focus on camcorder. other than that this phone is best phone out there! lol
I wish it had some contour to it or something to make it a little easier to hold. When typing one handed I also accidentally hit the search button with my palm because of the size

It is an amazing phone and still the best piece of hardware on the market but other than being huge (which I like) it has no character to it's design. It's a standard looking black slab phone.
Audio quality.
I hate the shape somewhat its like somebody steam press the phone flat. I wish it was the shape of the galaxy nexus. I know I'm being picky but the design of a phone matters alot to me

I love the phone over all. And I know how Samsung is going for super light weight in regards to its build material...but they should take a chance and throw some metal in the mix..like some of the HTC and Nokia phones.

The fact is its a Samsung and Im an HTC fanboy. It took me a while to get over it.
This phone has one of the worst recording mics in the history of phones. 3 concerts sonce I've had it, and not one with audible sound to share.
Other than that, great handset.

I can go 2 days on a charge and never have a problem with the AOS bug. It does show up high on the usage list but never has any type of negative impact on battery life.
The only thing I would change about this bad boy is the screen resolution, there are some noticeable jaggies when playing some games. I wouldn't however be accepting of a pentile screen to achieve the higher resolution. I had the GNEx for a bit and I don't care what anyone says, you CAN definitely tell it's a pentile. That was one of the reasons why I returned it.
Hmm for once I can say I am pretty satisfied, but if I had to pick...It would be the slight delay we experience when pressing the power button to wake the phone. From what I have seen on here it is a power saving feature and has something to do with the phone sleeping, so I am actually ok with that. The other thing would be the build materials of course. Being a former HTC guy, I missed the matte finish and metals, but now I am actually in love with how light and thin my phone is. Can't wait to see whats next for samsung !
I can't complain about this phone (The SGSII). It's a solid powerhouse of a phone with a killer battery. Great piece of hardware.
I can however complain about the E4GT, Sprint's terrible take on the phone. No NFC, odd design because of the bigger screen (which I like the big screen, just not the design), Sprint blocks certain apps in the market that are compatible with the SGSII, beta builds of ICS have leaked for other versions of the SGSII, but Sprint is still patching GB for some ODD reason, oh and WiMax *puke*.
Based lil b
my only complaint is the audio dac also, the only way to get adequate sound is with the neutron player, but is has such a terrible user interface lol
Great phone otherwise, especially with the new 29 modem, IMO of course
Most are mentioned already but ..
Battery door creaks
Too Thin/ Design
Battery Life
Resolution
Gingerbread
Sprints crappy network
Only things I wish it had was a better resolution and LTE, aside from that I love everything else, including the design.
power button should be on top.
It has a worse sound card than the first galaxy s'es including the nexus s.
They had a wolfson, which is a major difference in sound quality on headphones and specker.
Also same with the audio mic.
So this means no voodoo sound improvements for these new sii'es including the galaxy nexus.
No nfc (shocked)
No lte.
No 3d.
No kickstand.
Awkward design compared to T-Mobile's
No ics until summer or fall...maybe later knowing its Samsung
No dual flash.
Has capitiated buttons rather than on screen ones
The back hump
Screen Res too low
Should be thinner
Small battery

Well I have been given the chance to return my photon after the 30 day window but once I get the E4gt, I can't return it, no 14 day trial and ill be stuck with it through thick and thin. This will be a huge gamble because the only thing I don't like about the photon is the screen and lack of development support.
I am mainly concerned with GPS, and call quality and reception. I've seen a few bugs but not much compared to most new releases.
My girlfriend has a captivate and it never gets a gps lock where as my photon is instantaneous and I mean literally a second or less.
Speaker phone is not a big deal as I don't plan to host any parties with the phone lol. But id like it to be louder than my EVO 3d that I had because that speaker was absolutely horrible and strained bad even at low levels. Im hoping the "strain" im hearing about with this phone isn't like the EVO 3d.
Photon screen looks brilliant in sunlight which is the only positive about the screen....I been seeing reviews that say the epic touch is good in sunlight. Is this true?
Thanks for any feedback on this.

Aside from somewhat inferior 3G/4G/WiFi range performance, the E4GT will be superior in every other way. Definetely a worthy trade.

Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
the only things i think you would be disappointed with in your switch would be the feel of the phone build and the radios in the photon > ET4g. photon is definitely more solid in terms of feel in-hand (thickness and material) and motorola has some of the best radio tech out there.
however, the thinness and lightweight of the ET4g are better to me personally and the build is not at all bad. i place the radios in the ET4g better than evo 3d and below photon. they definitely did a good job with the ET4g, its getting reception where i never thought it would
you dont have to worry at all about the dev community for the ET4g. root was established 2 days after release. for the evo 3d it took weeks (if i remember correctly). i'm not worried about the development at all
I myself have just come from ATT with a captivate so i understand your hesistant feelings when coming over to the next generation of galaxy s phones. I would have to say that NONE of the problems fromt he original Galaxy S phones are here. Theres none of that terrible filesystem lag, and the GPS in this thing is just short of god tier lol. So id have to say DO IT, I love this phone SO MUCH.

I can't compare those phones but I will say this. One thing I didn't like about the Epic was low audio on headphones. I am a bit hard of hearing. The touch is very loud and clear. Using the same headphones as the Epic I can't turn the volume all the way up without hurting my ears. And that is saying a lot for me.

It was nice for ead buds but I will avoid any volume hacks from now on when hooking my phone into my car system or home audio as it distorts the fack out of it... Obviously turning the volume down on the reciever or cd player would be the only fix to stop the destortion but voodoo was nice while I was at work with my headphones ( I work at a factory)

Ive had the touch since Friday, I couldnt be more pleased. Ive messed around with a Photon, but by no means a long use. 3g/4g is quick, super responsive, and the battery life on this phone is the best ive seen yet. Signal strength is better than my iPhone-y coworkers. Wifi only makes this snappy phone super-quick accessing web pages and downloading doesnt "load", they blink. Voila! Im pretty scrutinizing of my phone,, and this one doesnt disappoint. ;]
the headphones are amazing on this. Anyone complaining about the sound being distorted when you turn it up all the way is lying. There is no way anyone can listen to music with headphones with the sound turned up all the way. It's extremely loud hence why people think its distorted. When I listen to music I usually have it around 10, anything louder than that and it starts to hurt my head, and i bet people 20 feet away from me can hear it as well.

Ditto to the one-hand use. I'm pretty confident that the majority of the users cannot use this phone one-handed as it is almost impossible to reach the corner farthest away from the main thumb without the phone slipping. This will be even more so when you attach a case to it due to the increased width.
you can't really point resolution as being a problem
as the phone is designed like that
it was not advertised as HD
only the upcoming Prime and korea SGS2 version have HD display

You definately can tell the resolution difference. I have the unlocked version of the SGS2 and I'm looking at it side by side and YES there is a resolution difference, I was thinking that unlocked SGS2 look more crispier and sharp but on Tmobile SGS2's resolution being lower was due to the bigger screen or something....also the I notice there was a lag on Tmo SGS2 when playing 720P avi file when there was no lag at all on the unlocked SGS2

I actually like the resolution. I have 20/15 corrected vision, but it's still nice to have stuff just a tad bit bigger. I feel like I don't have to lean over my phone in order to use it. I can reach the whole screen one-handed, but I have pretty big hands... I admit 720p resolution would be hott still, but I would be concerned about the battery life of such a huge screen with that dense of a resolution.
I've been playing with mine for some time now and the resolution is not a problem for me, and neither is lag.
I have a feeling that people have crazy expectations over phones and in the end they end up being disappointed.
The only thing I don't like about mine is all the dumbass apps that came with it, but that's with most phones.

Also I haven't noticed any lag and ICS has some nice features.
Only thing I am not so amused of is the battery cover. It's pure plastic and doesn't look very stable. BUT it fits perfectly so no problem at all.
Good to read a positive reaction. Thank you.

You also have to ask yourself how important the camera is, because after using the iphone 4s, I feel the GN is pretty horrible. You may say, well I don't really use my phone for the camera ( I said that) and then when you need it you get poor quality pics. Just my opinion.
also keep in mind you will need a good data plan, or restrict yourself to WiFi only
The phone is amazing. Screen looks beautiful (especially coming from my Nexus One). Having a 720p display is so great. Fluid and fast. And the build quality is great. Even though it's plastic, it feels almost as good as my N1 to hold. The only downside is the camera quality - but even that is much better than my N1.
Coming from a Nexus One
This touchscreen is excellent. I am able to using the turn by turn navi while sending emails or text messages without the touchscreen going haywire. In the past, my N1 would registry incorrectly and I had to restart the phone! So much for multi tasking!
It maybe not a HTC build but it looks very well made and how thin it is. Also this phone seems to grab a hold of a 3G signal much stronger. My N1 would go to EDGE all the time even if I had 1 bar of 3G!
As for the GNEX, I've only seen it go to EDGE once but quickly back to 3G.
I actually came from a HTC sensation, and the galaxy nexus is definitely the best smartphone I've ever owned (and I've had them all, even iPhone 4 ) . The screen is so crisp and clear , colors are very warm, and can get very bright. The OS itself is super speedy , comparable to an iPhone, with very fluid animations. Battery life was a bit bad at first but gets better after about a week. Also charges extremely fast from what I've noticed. The camera quality isn't bad. I think its damn good, and zero shutter lag, I can't complain. Seriously , if you are debating between the sensation and the galaxy nexus, do yourself a favor and pick the nexus . You will not be disappointed. Another thing I forgot was build quality, the first time I picked it up out of the box my jaw almost hit the floor because of how thin this device is.its amazing to say the least. And even though the entire phone is made of plastic it definitely feels like a premium built device , doesn't feel "cheap" by any means .

Coming from an HTC legend.... had the nexus a few days now... best phone ive ever had no problems with it what so ever.... its a tad on the large size but thats not the phones fault and i dont think that can be seen as a disadvantage really.
I got mine yesterday and no problems so far. The screen is really nice, nothing wrong with the build quality that I can see. The battery cover is a little flimsy but I will probably hardly ever have to open it so I don't think it's a problem. If those back covers start breaking for a lot of people I'm sure they will be made available for purchase or maybe some free replacements from Samsung.
The OS updates for ICS are nice. The phone app is annoying because the layout for finding contacts is totally different and the icons aren't obvious. There are no words to help you choose what icon to select. Even if you are completely confused by that, at worst it should take a week to get familiar with it so that's not a problem.
I am also a little worried about the screen being scratched. I used my Captivate for over a year without a case or screen protector, carried it around in my pocket and even dropped it a few times and the screen is scratch free. I planned on doing that with the GNex but after reading some posts here I'm waiting to see what happens once there are more widespread experiences with the screen quality. Right now I have the sstock screen protector on it still.

I got mine on Monday (GSM), coming from the Nexus S. I must say that this phone is outstanding in nearly every aspect.
My only gripes ( if you can call them that) are:
Non mettalic outer chassis
No native notification light for SMS ( must D/L app for customization)
I was blessed with a "non Google/Samsung rom ( South American import to US), which a simple flash took care of.
Other than that I giggle every time I use it......
The only thing I'd do is move the power button the slightly downwards to be a bit more comfortable to use.
thats it.
make the GSM version come with extended battery from the start.
Better camera.
Better battery.
Everything else is really nice
Defenitely better battery.
i think a 4470 would have been better for those that are going to keep it for 2 years (like me) and I also wish it would have come with the extended battery standard

Oh yeah... and how could I forget? a more stable and reliable way of selling the Galaxy Nexus especially to non-Verizon customers.
I would like a more powerful vibration notification. I keep my phone in my dress slacks front pocket which doesn't keep the phone snug against my leg, and I am mostly in loud environments where a ringer can't be heard or in quiet office environments where I need to keep my ringer off. I have missed quite a few calls because of this and now I need to frequently check my phone for missed calls/texts.
*edit I accidentally a word
omap4470, non pentile amoled plus hd screen, standard extended battery, slightly louder speaker, camera with carl zeis lens thats about it. Oh and 32 gb storage on the gsm version.
My GN is the first smartphone I've ever owned. I just can't believe they stuffed this much into so little space. The only thing I would change is to make the keyboard more responsive.

hi all,
Some of you who had the original note must have already got the note 2 now. Please share how the note 2 fare in comparison to note 1. It will be helpful for the note users like me who are contemplating a swap for note2.
so please tell about -
screen - color resolution pentiling
wifi range and stability
battery life
signal reception and call clarity
speaker volume
gps fix and accuracy
camera- still and video
other notable improvements
I think the above factors will be more important than app speed or butteriness alone.
so please do share your user experience and thanks a lot in advance for sharing.

Very usefull post tuxing....i have almost same questions what you asked...awaiting reply as i allready sold my note-1 awaiting note 2
bump for this, I plan on selling my N1 in the next month to get the new one.
I literally JUST posted about this somewhere else but the s pen has been greatly improved. Samsung has listened and finally calibrated the pen properly. The rubber tip really makes a difference as I'm not as scared about scratching up the screen. I think the pressure sensitivity has increased. I can't say anything else because I don't own it yet, I was only testing with it. My boyfriend handled the note 2 and now he's absolutely convinced that he needs this. He very much envies me as my contracted has ended and ill be getting it as next week.
hope someone will be able to do a comparo of above features now to help peeps with note1 to reach a decision.

Screen very good, although I personally think the density is far too high, it needs to be lower as some text just looks, too telly tubby like.
Wifi seems to be on par for me, no worse no better, but has more factors to consider when asking questions like that, like router quality, environment etc...
Battery life appears to be very good, but I think it's a bit too early to tell, after a few more days, my judgment should be more accurate.
Speaker volume does seem to be a lot louder.
GPS fix is like lightning on the original Note and that trait has carried on to the second.
Call quality, again, never had any issues with the original, no better nor worse.
Camera is very good, from the shots I've taken at least, a few more days of playing around will give a more informed report.
The biggest gripe I have is the screen, not with quality or anything like that, coming from the original Note I am missing the extra width and the pixels that came with that width, some things look a tad too elongated to me, but it's just a case of getting used to it I think.
Also, as I mentioned before the screen density. As soon as a rooting method comes up that doesn't increase the binary counter, I'll be changing it to a number that I think will suite the Note II a bit more.
Other than that it's all good, the speed of the thing is immense, no lag, buttery smooth, it's just an absolute joy to use.
