***FOR DEVELOPERS ONLY***DO NOT FLASH***
I have seen reports of this wiping out everything on phones for some people and others say that they are running just fine.
Not sure if this is safe to flash so just to be on the safe side of things don't flash this until someone more knowledgeable weighs in. I just didn't know if our lovely TW devs have seen that this has leaked yet, I'd love to see a rom based on it.
This appears to be for the international version's leak, don't know if that really matters but I will assume it does.

Don't use that on our phones, it's for the Note 2.

To all the devs...

Is it just me or has our roms come to a bit of a stand still? Is it because samsungs are hard to develop for, or is it something else?i know ot took quite some time for the infuse to get a good base of devs but i left att before that happened.

Have you been reading about the massive progress devs have made across boards on Jelly bean? Hell even with the recent FG20 leak. The amazing kernel support from agat and chris41G. It isn't still at all. There is a lot of activity, just read around.

Besides not everyone catching up and playing "follow the leak" game anymore, I'd agree with everyone else that there are some furious activities.

Well yeah ive seen the devs working on jellybean and i saw the fg20 leak but I don't trust it given the fact that it's meant for boost. And in terms of jellybean its just a port. Once we start getting the leaks for it who knows what issues we will have. Hell look at how many folks were hard bricked because of the emmc bug. And yeah team rejects pretty much came outta no where but a lot of what they are doing is simply themes (no offense). I'm not hating. I'm just curious is it that hard to develop for samsung devices? HTC has no problems look at all of their devs. Motorola phones have more devs than we do.

It only looks like the developers are at a standstill because they have so much to work with. Source for ics and now leaks for jb, which way to go first?
We're all used to microwaved food and high speed downloads and jumping tweet topics. Meaningful work takes time, just ask anyone who ever used a shovel.

(no offense) but i don't think you follow actual development. I don't normally respond to these threads... but, here we go.
a few things, there is a jelly bean port, yes. but there is also a build from source. as well as tons of activity towards CM10 (JB based incase you were unaware). I develop about 10 hours or more a day for this device (which I don't currently have), because I'm working (with TeamEpic) towards getting official CM device status. This entails a working source kernel, which is done, a new RIL, which is done, now, we are working on merging the kernel with the already official smdk4210 (sgs2, skyrocket, n7000, etc) kernel. once i can do that with minimal changes to the core of the kernel, then official status should be easy. official cm status means not only cm9 support and nightlies from them, but cm10 when it comes along..
just because you don't see development, doesnt mean its not there, you just don't know where to look, and probably wouldnt recognize it you found it.. we developers have a way of not letting things out in the open until WE are ready... i have a ton of projects, but very few release threads.. for a reason.
development is not at a standstill, catering to you is...

Thank you Chris41G for ALL the work you do. And thanks to all the others here too! I know how much it takes to get something even close to right. Let alone 'good' as you all tend to do when you do release. It's so hard when you've got twenty other things to do too to 'dev for free' as it were: Like actually work in the real world and take care of family and personal business it's just amazing how much the devs here give.
It's the quiet diligent and hard work (most very much unseen and unrewarding; monitarily anyways) from people like you and the others that give us the opportunity to use and see some great stuff.
I'll just say hat's off and thanks to you'all.
This wasn't me speaking negatively about you or the other devs. I really was asking if it is difficult working on samsung devices. I'm sure you guys put in a lot of work to get the roms/kernels working as smooth as possible. And are working towards better things. I appreciate everything you all do.

What you were saying is that you don't see much development. But the truth is that you just don't "see" it. There's a ton of development going on... you just gotta know where to look. And like chris41g said, the JB ROMs aren't all ports. There are 3 different developers working on JB right now... maybe some are ports, but at least sbrissen's is from source.

Depends on the type of development you're referring to..themeing and winzip dev are equal across manufacturers. Kernel and source based development is usually better on flagship devices, particularly those with unlocked bootloaders.. regardless of manufacturer. GSM devices generally have a larger development base, due to a much larger user base, and a lot more common devices.
I prefer developing on a Samsung device. The only android device I own that isn't a Samsung is my nexus 7

Thank you for your answer and again I wasn't meaning to sound like I was bashing just curious. Now with everything that is going on with JB I am seeing the development in progress and im getting excited. One cause it's jellybean and two because I can actually see the progress.

I don't know about ICS ROMs but a good JB 4.2 ROM is Jellybam it's very smooth and has good battery life.

My suggestion is to read before asking. There are many threads here dedicated to new users. Before you do anything, you need to be fully aware and accepting that you could have a very expensive paperweight if you do something wrong. Also, don't ask what the best ROM is. It will cause issues in the forums with people trying to prove they have a bigger d*ck because they use - whatever- ROM. Go with what fits you. But do all that after a good amount of reading.

I completely agree with graydiggy. The best thing to do is to identify what you're looking for, and read a lot. I did a bunch of reading on this forum when I was first starting with my Samsung Vibrant, and I've learned a TON since then

I'll agree with others saying that you will find out more as you go. You'll also figure out more specific things to search for. Most of the roms I've seen have a thorough first post that leads you to information on getting caught up. This will generally lead to some of the pinned topics when first starting out. However, I also find myself having some of the same questions for each kernel release, like "How does this differ from the previous kernel? Which changes actually apply to my device?". Are there general release notes provided for each android kernel release? So far, I just go with what's current, recommended for the rom, and works well for others, and that's fine. But I still wonder what changes the revisions have been through, even if it's stuff I wouldn't notice day to day.
Thanks for all ur advices and leads i appreciate that , i guess i have no choice but read more

SG3 Rookie...help me piece together a ROM

Was only on stock for less than a day, rooted, installed a couple renditions of goodness and a random other and just haven't found what I want to be my daily. I've been on goodness 9.0.4 for quite some time but the headaches I've experienced just aren't what I'm used to. Before anyone asks, I always fully wipe phone sometimes twice before I sample. Did the same in my HTC Evo days. Which brings up were I'm going with this. On my original Evo I ran swagged out stock.....beautiful, and my Evo LTE, worse phone I've ever paid $200 for, I ran MeanBean...another great ROM to my suiting. For anyone unfamiliar with those 2 they are mostly stock ROMs with just the right amount of extras, custom boot animation, maybe a slightly tweaked drop down menu with a couple popular apps or settings added, the must have Super User and WiFi Tethering, and one of my favorites the ability to reboot into recovery from the power off menu, not sure what that's called but its priceless. So I begin by offering up my willingness to try other ROMs out there based on suggestions you, the experienced, throw out. But I can't help but wonder if all I really need is stock with a few extras. That's where I'm lost, I couldn't find a gs3 mod that would work for me and stopped before I broke something. Open for suggestions, and appreciate everyone's time. As well I am greatfull for all the hard work that the details s have put into the Roms I've tried, your incredibly talented people and your time and knowledge are above and beyond.

I was in the same spot as you for awhile. I've tried lots of roms and a lot of different setups. So far I've been on Cyanogenmod 10.1 the longest so far but that's far from stock TW. You also might want to check out Cm Rom, I really like that one. Lol But if you get the flashing bug you won't stay with any one rom for a long period of time. But good luck in you quest

Tried out clean bean...very fast, very debloated...first thing I noticed was an error saying something about needing to dial my number to retrieve a voicemail.....very, very debloated. This would be a great core ROM to add your personal preferences and random wants to. I'd still like to find one with a little of that already applied....I know, I'm lazy...

Any AOSP ROM you have to flash the Sprint vvm if you want it separately, or use Google Voice.
Edit: Clean bean is not AOSP but you can still load the Sprint vvm apk on any ROM that does not have it. I always keep the most updated version on my external card for any AOSP ROM that I flash. Try one of the ROMs I posted earlier in the thread.

stock rom repo's

how come rwilcos stock roms are smaller file sizes than the manufactures stock rom size..? To gain root you do is inject it through a custom recovery and then flash back to stock and if you want then remove bloat.....but even with these steps the manufactures rom still remains heavier why is that...is rwilcos leaving out some system files or what?

Not sure I'm understanding your question..
When we make them for the Repo, we usually pack them for smaller download size..
Are you saying that once extracted you're comparing sizes and they are in fact smaller?
I can guarantee that we do not remove anything prior to public release.
Please clarify.
i was refering to the upload not the extraction. thanks you answered my question anyways

You're welcome.
I hope you understand my concern where people may think we "remove" anything from a stock build. I just wanted to clarify that it doesn't happen.
Glad you have the answer, and thanks for asking. If you asked, I'd bet someone else may think the same. Glad to clear it up.
Moho, I'm sure that if anything "is" removed it's probably something that's not needed and it'll probably enhance the performance of the rom.

Considering RWilco taught Garwynn, myself and others on packing (based off what he was taught by sfhub), I can say without a doubt that we do not in fact remove anything from the stock tars.
While I appreciate what your comment means, I want there to be zero doubt about anyone removing anything from stock. Otherwise it wouldn't be stock.
I think this conversation has ran it's course and doubt shouldn't be interjected into what the repo is or what it provides.
I will ask for this to be closed by a mod.
I hope you understand what this conversation could lead to and its not needed to be entertained. No offense meant.
Thread Closed, hope the above is enough, if not, please PM Rwilco and ask that way to get a direct answer.

Jelly Thunder RC4

I need some perspective here. I have been rockin Jelly Thunder RC4 (which happens to now be closed with no links to RC4) since late January and have had no desire to flash anything else. Prior to attaching myself to JT, I was simply a flashaholic like most of us. I have this rom tweaked and setup to completely satisfy my needs.
A few days ago, I called myself looking around. I did a nandroid of my current setup in anticipation of flashing one of the newest latest greatest roms. Ultimately, I couldn't do it. Am I missing anything out there right now? There appears to be a wealth of activity and some great looking roms buzzing with activity. Are there any other rogue JT RC4 uses out there that can relate to where I am right now? Do I need therapy? Lol... I absolutely love this rom. Sadly, it was abandoned but the developer abandoned a masterpiece.

Where would you suggest I post a general thought? Some questions are obviously rhetorical.. The purpose the post is simply to see if there are any others out there still rockin the rom and to give the rom some props.

JT was a great rom. I'm a flashaholic though so I change my roms like my underwear, a couple time a week. (I kid, I kid).
But for me newest clean rom is worth a try. It uses the newest international rom and is super smooth and great battery with lots of mods and themes floating around.
I also keep back ups of Jedi and Team Zodiac's rom. Both good choices.
Roms are opinion based of course but I don't see how you've kicked the need to flash.

International all the way. Much better. No carrier bloat and newer releases as far as changlist straight from Samsung.
