The partition will not show in the phone storage, but it will still be there, doing its job. From what I know, the ROM doesn't move Dalvik Cache to ext, so that will consume space. Install this from recovery to move data/app and Dalvik to ext: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48303918/apps_dalvik2ext-UNSIGNED.zip
How did you partition your sd-card? If it wasn't with 4ext recovery or Gparted, do it again using this guide:

Thanks i will try this !!!

Use 4EXT recovery (requires s-off) or gparted as advised, do not use cwm.
Make 2 partitions, fat32 and ext4, no swap
thanks for tip
thanks for your help !
in recoverymenu 4exT is written i made 2Gb partition 4ext with 128Mb swap .
i use below 4exT Recovery Tool to make 2Gb ext4 partiton with 128 Swap
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408936
so plz tell me how i make two partitions one fat32 and other exT4 . also tell me which partition is use as phone storage so i make that partition big and another little small to save some Space on SD Card !

Are you even following the guide posted above or what I posted?
Backup the sd card, start again. Make the partition without swap, you don't need it
Then if you read the first post of the rom thread:
* Cyanogen A2SD script tweaked by me, moves both Apps and Dalvik to EXT.
So the partition should work automatically, don't flash anything else. As stated above you won't 'see' your total internal memory = 'internal + sd-ext', but it is working. Use an app like 'DiskUsage' to check and browse all your partitions
Also currently I assume you are on stock hboot with 250MB System, 40MB cache and small 147MB Data
If you want a bit more space for apps, you can flash data++ hboot as advised in the first post
DATA++ Hboot 180MB System, 5MB Cache, 252MB Data
Search for guide how to flash hboot, recommend to flash using fastboot
.Thanks i am thinking to install nano version , can u please give a video link how to Flash Hboot and get latest one. whats its function ?

Don't know about the nano version...you need to understand how big the /system size of that version is before you choose the right hboot. Search or ask in rom thread. Or download the rom.zip and open it (don't need to extract) with program like 7zip, check the /system size
It's not about 'latest' hboot. Download the hboots from alpharev.nl, you'll see them all listed. You choose the 'right' one to fit your Rom's /system size, therefore maximum /data (internal memory) >>> more space for apps :good:
For instance if the nano version has /system size 175MB, it will fit into data++ hboot with 180MB /system, you waste only 5MB and get and 252MB /data
However if you install it on stock hboot like you have now, it has 250MB /system, so you waste 75MB on /system, only get 147MB /data
Please try to understand this before proceeding...
To change hboot, search 'HTC Desire how to flash hboot' (I'm on mobile), I recommend to findguide which uses fastboot
Eventually:
- Backup everything if you haven't already, apps using titanium, contacts top Google account etc
- Backup and repartition sd card as instructed
- Flash recommended hboot
- Reboot back into recovery
- Full wipe ('wipe all partitions except sdcard' within 4EXT)
- Flash rom.zip and reboot

Did you even read what eddie said? Try taking a look at his post above again, and understand what he is saying before you do anything.
cm7r2 or oxygenr2 will not work with cooldroid (not enough space for system). You need to check the system size of the rom, before looking at how much data you get.
Cooldroid needs atleast 165mb on the system partition. Therefore the most optimal hboot would be data++ like eddie and the OP of cooldroid said. Also 5mb is fine for the cache partition. I doubt you will notice any performance problems, so its nothing to worry about.
To install the hboot you can either use fastboot (you need the .img version of the hboot) or the PB99IMG method (you need the .zip version of the hboot).
Download the hboots from alpharev.nl,

The table has each hboot info listed. Fist column is the size of /system (This should be the ROM size + 5mb), second column is the size of /cache (Doesn't really matter) and the third column is the size of /data, the internal memory. You choose the best for your ROM (As I said, it should be larger than ROM size +5mb)

That ROM is 244 MB in size, so you need a hboot with a 250 MB /system partition.
The CM7r2 and Oxygen hboots have smaller /system partitions, so the ROM won't fit.
Thanks got little more
ok if hboot is 250Mb installed then Rom will also install under 250MB . thats good
i need sapce so want to install The CM7r2 and Oxygen hboots have smaller /system partitions then where can i find smaller size ROM

Try Non-sense ROMs, like Mildwild ROMs They work fine with the cm7r2 hboot.
Cool droid works with Data++ hboot aswell so ud have a bit more internal memory.

Yes make the partition first. I would suggest this order: install optimized hboot for the rom you want, create partition. full wipe, flash rom.
Most of milwilds roms come with a2sd built in so you dont need to install anything extra.

Hi, I cannot post to the thread
[ROM][Cool3D Sense 3.0][19 Aug]Cool Sensation v7|Stable|CM7/r2|DATA++|STOCK
because not enough post count.
I am using HTC Desire, I just upgrade this ROM and v7 is just release few days ago. I apply a2sd and it works well. I have check the sd-ext folder and symlink like this:
/data/app -> /sd-ext/app
/data/app-private -> /sd-ext/app-private
/system/app -> /sd-ext/app_s
/data/dalvik-cache -> /sd-ext/dalvik-cache
Now after I full sync, restore all call log and SMS, etc + install 57 apps, my internal memory very low, only 15mb free.
Can I symlink /data/data to /sd-ext/data also?
Is it possible to use Data2Sd instead of a2sd for this ROM?
I like this ROM because it have the new HTC Sense 3.
Do you use the version which corresponds with your hboot?
Wipe dalvik cache and flash this. It's A2SD taken from VU 1.31. It moves dalvik to ext and includes btrfs support.

Oh. good point here almost confused hboot with recovery.
I just s-off with Revolitionary to flash 4ExtRecovery. What I know it is based on ClockWorkMod Recovery which added support for ext4, mount disk drive, convert ext3 <-> ext4, aligned partitioning, MD5 check. I use this because I dont have Linux os to create partition on my sd card using gparted.
So mine one should be based on stock hboot but s-off by Revolutionary. The Cool Sensation say it require CM7, Data++ or stock Hboot. Should not be a problem. What I know, hboot is just a bootloader to use fastboot, enter recovery mode or run Android normally.
Why I need to specifically use this hboot?
Does hboot related with any ROM zip being flash?
What the memory size for system, cache and data indicate in the Cool Sensation requirement?
If I really need to reflash and change to CM7 hboot, can I straight away do it without wipe data and reflash the ROM again?
and Does the hboot really give impact to internal memory space decrease over time?
(sorry to many question, this is just my 2nd time reflashing my phone, answer anything you can)

I think this is the one in the "Dalvik.Cache To SD-EXT" link with a2sd.KD.zip file name. I apply this already otherwise I will get internal memory critically low in the first boot.
My dalvik-cache already symlink-ed to the /sd-ext/dalvik-cache
Any idea? move /data/data to sd-ext also? or how to change to Data2sd?

You can't change. That file I attached is not the same as one in coolexe's thread. I have CM7r2, ~80 apps and only 100 MB spent on data partition.

I modified it myself. It's the VU 1.31 A2SD script with btrfs support. I'd say CM7r2 HBOOT is more user friendly than stock.
ok, I will try CM7r2 hboot then. I just realize the space become decrease over time. during I open this thread 15mb free. last few hours ago 8 mb and now only 7mb remaining. something went wrong here. I try to remove all apps see if it consistently decrease or maybe I need to reflash or change hboot.

Anyway actually I can have 200 over apps in this phone before, just using ModaCo for Froyo with app2sd+. Now I can post the thread.
Reading the CS thread from 22th Aug until today. now I understood why we need to change hboot. It is because hboot defines the system, cache and data internal partition size. I dont want to stuck on 147Mb even I use a2sd, sd ext4 and symlinked well, so I will change to CM7r2 to get about 300mb of data size first.
Then do what ckpv5 advice to improve performance and have a lot of space. Wish me luck.

i had enabled d2ext script as in all the roms flashed before by me are d2ext as it gave me a lot of space..
now there are no roms with d2ext(updates)..
so i need to flash a Data++ rom..
how am i supposed to do it...so that i get max space...say 1024mb as phone memory..

yes ..all of that and after that i again flashed the rom. its a data++ rom. and as mentioned earlier ..my partions are the same..but still the internal space available is only 43.3 mb.
doi need to change my hboot to run data++ roms.??
Backup your sd-card. Boot this (on your PC), reformat your SD-Card and make sure you have:
FAT32 Partition XXGB (Primary)
EXT4 Partition 1024mb (Primary)
tutorial
flash this via fastboot, do a full wipe, reflash.
should do it, if it still doesn't work then I have no idea what may be wrong lol
i have installed m2sd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387 via aroma installer and enabled apps, dalvik and cmdalvik. Installed fine...but when i go to settings-->storage--> i still have 148mb internal storage... any idea?
so this assumes you have an ext partition on your sd card, hopefully created with gparted or 4ext recovery (NOT minitool or clockworkmod recovery)
depending on your method of moving apps to sd-ext, a lot of the time it won't show your total internal memory as "internal + sd-ext", your apps should still be moved to sd-ext, you shouldn't need to 'move to SD', keeping it on internal tricks the apps to sd-ext. check using an app like 'diskusage'
regardless, you are still on stock hboot so are wasting space. Currently your rom system size is ~140MB out of 250MB stock hboot system size, wasting 110MB, and only 148MB data (internal memory).
if you change to cm7r2 hboot (requires s-off), it has 145MB system, so you waste only 5MB, and get 287MB data. this larger data partition is usually enough for app data and dalvik cache, so no need to move dalvik to sd-ext.
have a look here or google, search for guides on s-off if you're not already (use revolutionary), and how to change hboot
yup already have ext partition.. was using a2sd and int2sd on my previous sense rom... ok will try to install some apps and see if i still get insufficient storage warning...
i switched from cmr2 hboot to stock hboot as from time to time i flash an ICS/JB rom to see their progress.

1. Do a full wipe using 4ext recovery. Full wipe = "Wipe Dalvik Cache erase /data and /cache partitions.wipe the battery stats. There is an option for that in 4EXT menu .
2. Create two partition on your sd card - [xxGB fat32] + [1GB ext] use the partition menu in 4EXT recovery, backup data on sd card first!
3. Flash the .zip file :good:
no, you need to:
- nandroid backup (just in case)
- change hboot to maximise space. i think it will fit inside oxygenR2 hboot with 100MB system, download the rom to check system size or search the thread. download the hboot from alpharev.nl, and i recommend using fastboot commands to change hboot (guide here).
- you need to 'full wipe' when changing roms. in 4ext recovery there is a wipe all partitions except sd card option, this formats everything including system, data, sd-ext etc. wiping cache and data is not enough
- flash rom and reboot

follow the guide, i even found it for you
you don't have to change, but it uses the space more efficiently.
you are on stock hboot, so you have 250MB system size, but that mildwild rom system size is only ~95MB. this wastes 155MB empty on /system. by changing to oxygenR2 hboot with 100MB, you waste only 5MB. by switching to oxygenR2 your internal memory also goes up from 147MB to 332MB, allowing more space for apps
so up to you if you want this extra space for apps. you might as well change it while switching roms so you don't have to worry about it later.
it's quite easy to change roms once you search how to do it. you are basically backing up, wiping the device and flashing a new rom.

Oh sorry, didnt see the guide.. But i can firstly change the rom and then think about changing hboot yes? And if not changing hboot, if partition sdcard, that gives internal storage too, no?

you can install the rom and change hboot afterwards yes, make sure you nandroid backup! but you might as well change hboot first because you have to full wipe when changing roms anyway. honestly it's not very difficult.
you created your sd card partition with 4ext recovery? i'd recommend it to be 1-1.5GB. the partition will automatically be used for apps and dalvik cache i believe, but you won't 'see' it as extra internal memory.
however, on stock hboot you will only have 147MB for app data, which can fill up quickly depending on how many apps you use. oxygenR2 hboot will be much more efficient use of internal memory. up to you.

yes, i created it with 4ext recovery and i made 1gb of my sd card for internal, i know that i cant see the storage except with titanium backup. I think i will try to flash that rom after full wipe without changing hboot.
Just flashed mildwild rom and it's awesome, much better than 4.2.2 jb with cyanogen 10.1 Thank u guys!
Hi I've downgraded HBOOT to s-off (also giving new HBOOT), flashed new HBOOT compatible with all roms and flashed roms o plenty on my desire s (saga) but my desire (bravo) has been a little more complicated to say the least!
The roms for the desire 1 all go on about having xxx Mb HBOOT and all the various partition sizes needed, nether of these seem to apply on the desire s and dispute having read guides over and over, I cant seem to get the partitions right (1.5mb main mem left after clean rom flash) im wondering if its to do with the hboot instead.
Before AND after partitioning the device, the gingerbread rom iused to get from hboot 1.03 to one compatible with revolutionary works fine, I am currently on the HBOOT version revolutionary planted on the phone ( HBOOT-6.93.1002, RADIO-5.17.05.23 )
The custom rom I tried booted a couple of times but as I said, with only 1.5mb of mem left and lagged like a Pentium 4 pc trying to play battlefield 4 lol.
That rom has not booted since but restoring via recovery to the gingerbread rom, all works fine.
The custom rom I installed was omni-4.4.2-20140518-bravo-homemade, i want to try others but this was just a starting ground.
Please can someone point me in the right direction, as i said, I've followed guides for partitioning the SD card and I've gone wrong somewhere and can't figure out what.
Thanks Steve.

How much size partition have u made?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Free mobile app
So the initial 'hboots' you have been seeing are merely version numbers relating to official ROMs
e.g.
0.93 is for a Froyo ROM
1.02 is for the Gingerbread ROM
1.03 is HTC dev unlocked ROM I believe
Your version number now doesn't really mean much, but the fact that you are S-OFF now means you can change your hboot. When custom ROMs refer to hboots in this sense, they are merely talking about your internal nand partition sizes.
So going back to before you gained s-off, you were on stock hboot, with the following sizes:
250MB /system
40MB /cache
147MB /data
You are still technically on stock hboot, so your sizes internal nand memory still looks like this. The /data partition is your internal memory, which as you can see is tiny.
S-OFF gained the ability to change your hboot if you so wish. You can find the different hboot partition tables at alpharev.nl. You can flash a different hboot with both smaller /system and /cache sizes, hence much larger /data (internal memory) using fastboot. More /data = more internal memory = more space for apps :good:
You need to flash a compatible custom ROM with a /system size just smaller than the corresponding hboot to optimise your space.
So for instance, cm7r2 hboot has a /system size of 145MB. You need to flash a ROM with say a 140MB extracted system size to fit (it will usually just say in the first post).
Some ROMs will still only fit into stock hboot, but you can still gain space by A2SD whereby apps are moved to the sd-ext partition. You may have to manually activate it, instructions are normally given in each ROM thread.
You also need a correctly partitioned sd card (using 4EXT recovery or gparted only) along with the custom ROM to optimise app space. Which guide did you use? And how big is your partition?

You should have made atleast 1gb partition because them apps will fill up quickly and there's no need for a swap partition.

Ok,found the guide this is what I followed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125513
I think it must be the hboot that's the issue but can't look into it properly yet
Thanks again and I will report back

Did not see your post till after my last again, will def make it 1gb or bigger when I re partition it, misses is tired and has abandoned film, yay!
I will get playing around and reading everything you have all written again so im clear son things, I appreciate your help everyong and will post back when ive made some changes.
Steve.
re formatted the sd card how advised to, flashed rom and nothing, re wiped, installed the hboot sugeseted on the roms page but still nothing, just stuck on the htc splash.
Installed a ics rom and everything is working great, the other has issues with this phone lol
Which method did you use to partition, 4ext recovery or gparted?
Stock hboot or the Alpha Jelly hboot will work, as both have 250MB /system size. Are you using fastboot to flash them?
How are you performing the wipe before installation? 'wipe all partitions except sdcard' option within 4ext should be sufficient.

yes im using the PB99IMG method for flashing them, I partitioned using 4EXT.
I realised stock shouldent be a problem by the numbers explained to me but thought it couldent do any harm to flash a specific hboot reccomended by the rom cheff, it also slightly changed the install process for some reason if you were running a hboot other than it so I shought in the name of compatibility I would give it a try but nope lol, HTC slash screen again ha ha.
I will try another 4.4 rom to see what happen but it is a little strange as it did boot and run poorly before
All the help I have had on thhis topic has been great and has really helped me, I hope someone else who is confused see this and is helpers also

You may have corrupted the ROM.zip download. Try again, and verify the md5 sum if it has one.
You may need to activate a2sd first then flash the gapps package straight after, check instructions
Like you said, if that still doesn't work, get any ROM booting as a first step (along with corresponding hboot beforehand if you want to optimise space).
