Hello, users of I9195!
We are (users of 9195 in Russia) have a trubble with network of this model. It was found that some Samsung phones have default AQUISITION ORDER like UMTS->GSM. I.e. UMTS has higher priority than GSM. And this is a problem. Because there is not so good 3g coverage. And when you are in that area, and level of 3g goes down, we have no network signal at all. For a few seconds (tens of seconds). After that phone is again registered in the network in GSM (2g) mode. May be the problem is not in AQUISITION ORDER, but I would like to test it.
So I need to enter into servise mode (to see DEBUG SCREEN). I know that it was possible using *#0011#-back-input key 1-back. But in my firmware it is impossible.
Could you please try to enter this mode and then say if it was successfull what firmware (modem) you are using.

You can just manually select the mode to 2G only?
yes, I can use only GSM, but I don't want to do so. Because I constantly use mobile internet.

yes, I also know it. That's why I've asked for the version of firmware where it works.
tried to flash oldest modem - no changes. Service Mode is locked...

i have entered the service mode after reading your guide. first of all thanks for it bcoz no other method was working.
i am getting no service message there and moreover under network lock i only have the option of sha256 info, no other option of turn it off. how i can get these options. need help.kindly reply

Did you flash all three files (pda,phone and csc)?

Yes i flashed all together.
My Calls / Text is not working...the status bar does not show the connection.
I thought the problem was with the task killer hence that too has been un installed.
I did notice that when i switched sim cards and restarted the network came on but the phone would restart and the network would disappear.
did you install the apn files for your phone .most of the time you find a list at the provider .you can go to apps settings wireless internet mobile networks names and intrance points tip at tapp and tip on new apn .but first find your providers list .if you google apn list ore so you can find it also

Thanks for the reply. Isnt APN used primarily to connect to EDGE / GPRS. Is it required for registering on a mobile network because as of now the phone is not registering on the mobile network.

APN---Done that it did not help.
Sometimes i get the signal strength bars but when i dial a number it does not connect it just says Dialing.
This is getting very frustrating.
should i try to flash another firmware...if so please point me to a mirror site as the samsung firmware site is down since the past few days.
Yes, you probably should try a different firmware. Try JM2 from my mirror. (see signature, download is fastest if you run wuala. direct http downloads may be slow at times)

The content of the f/ws is region specific (additional languages and apps that only work in some countries). However, they all work on the your device!

Flashed JM2...same problem HELP!!
Should i format my internal if that is what is causing the problem...because i am not able to figure out the exact problem.
I have the same problem. I bought my GS from USA and I try to use it in Europe. I flashed it both European and America firmwares but I couldn't solve the problem.
When I press *#1234#, it shows that "Phone: Unknown" and *#06# responses nothing.
When i insert the sim card of another operator the phone works. My original operators sim works on other mobiles except this galaxy s. Any tips on why or how to check.
I'm having the same problem, any help to fix this would me really great!
It seems that the galaxy s is not connecting on 1800mhz after flashing. It connects on networks using 900 mhz. Any way to check this on the phone
This is weird. I tried using the phone from another location and it worked. I think this has to do something with the cell tower near my home location.

- flash with another custom ROM
- flash with the original stock of my country (Chile) (via Odin, from Doky73 firmwares)
- backup from another GT-S5360L and restore in my phone
- enter into the servicemode *#*#197328640#*#*
Nothing of this have worked.

Did you try changing ur network mode to WCDMA? If its on auto mode then change it.. if still u dont get 3g or the H sign near ur network then its the fault of ur service provider

yes i tried changing to only WCDMA and I lost the signal.
I put the my SIM in another SGY and I changed to only WCDMA configuration and 3G is totally ok... =/
Maybe your current location doesn't have strong enough signal for your SIM card, try changing location

It seems to be a really weird problem.. try asking your service provider for 3g setting FOR galaxy y. If it still doesnt work then ur 3G receptor is not working.
try turning on the packet data, and switch to WCDMA only.
if it does not work turn off packet data, then goto flight mode switch to GSM only and back to WCDMA and turn on packet data again. this also happens on my phone sometimes.

I'm currently having a problem with entering service mode
When I was on 4.1.2, I usually used *#197328640# or *#0011# then press menu>back to go to main menu of service mode that would look like this.
However, once I updated to 4.3, I could not use *#197328640# code anymore. *#0011# would send me to the page that shows cell site data, but I could not go back to main page.
I need to use service mode to set certain frequency that I would want my phone to connect to i.e only connect to WCDMA 2100, not 850 or 900.
Furthermore, under service menu, I could check whether WB AMR was successfully enabled or not.
Already tried replacing servicemode.apk from 4.1.2 rom with no success.
Anyone know how I could enter service menu on 4.3 sammy rom?
This menu wont' come up on Omega, DrKetan and Official Sammy 4.3 rom.

I have the same issue after upgrading.
I use to dial *#0011# then menu>back then menu>keyinput> type "1". I imagine they've just made in more complicated because too many people found out about it.
Please post if you know how to do it now.

while i was messing around with the network setting via *#*#4636#*#* menu, I accidentally selected the USA bands, and it has caused me to not able to make any phone calls or even be connected to the network.
It does not allow me to change back to the default bands I was - international
Understand that this seems to be quite common mistakes across different devices.
But specifically for Desire 816, anyone can help me with this? My device is not rooted (i'd like to keep it taht way) and bought unlock.
Anyone? I'd be super grateful! Panicking like crazy right now...

Hey its simple and worked on mine!
Got to *#*#4636#*#*, then enable Flight mode using the Power menu, or your status bar toggle, then click Select Radio Band and you should see Automatic, now before you select it, disable flight mode. Hope it works, else in order to reset RSD settings, you need to factory reset (unless u root ofc)

Tried it, but the automatic option did not show up on mine
So how do you factory reset? I did reset through the phone settings already, also tried recovery, none worked...

Please help me same problem i m facing i need your help.. i changed slot 1 settings in *#*#*4636#*#* three months ago then network gone.. from that day i m using my sim in slot 2 and slot 1 is not detecting network. I tried changing settings those settings again also done hard reset but not working
After flashing CM-12, Both SIM are not working. Flashed stock L firmware but still problem is there... any solution?
When i bought D855p it came with 4.4, then i updated to 5.1, all official. After this i installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 and everything were fine. But when i installed 6.0(poland) my network signal keeps droping the intire day, it changes to UMTS and HSPA. I cant use my phone as a phone. The only way to solve this is, every time that i turn off the cel or put in airplane mode, is enter in MOBILE NETWORKS > NETWORK OPERATORS > SEARCH NETWORKS and choose GSM. (but i need to do this EEEEEVERY TIME that my cel turns off/airplane mode).
6.0 is the only ROM that i can choose GSM and the signal keep ~stable~. At least i can use my phone as a phone !
I did a backup of my IMEI before installing cm12 as well.
Things that i already tried :
-Flash ALL modem (ALL) , including 21C.
-intall cm13 and after cm12. Using TWRP 2.8 and 3.0.
-stock 4.4 , 5.0 , 5.1 and again 6.0. Using LGFlashTools
-MANY factory resets and wipes !

Same issue. I am on stock 4.4 and mobile network signal keeps dropping on weak signal area. I set to gsm/edge mode to mobile network. But nothing goes fine.

Disable VOLTE n go to ur models service menu (check google) for me it was
*#546368#*851# (my model = d851)
*#546368#*XXX# (ur model=D8XX) verizon sprint numbers are differently
go to field test >network mode>set GSM permanently (try different gsm 850,990,etc)
Back > RAT selection > select GSM
U cant have network problems now cuz ur permanently set to gsm dont use 3g or 4g use wifi

I'm sad to hear that. Try also flashing modem 21C. There are also other guides for restoring your signal around the forum, different things seem to work for different people.
