My nexus won't boot up. All I get is the google screen, then nothing, it just shuts off. The phone is rooted or at the very least unlocked and has worked that way very well for months. The only way for me to get the phone into download mode is to plug it in. I need help, I tried to do odin but I don't think I did it right.

Use Fastboot..
When you get into Fastboot mode then flash stock factory image by using fastboot command or use flash-all.bat which will also wipe everything from your Nexus..

Fastboot files are in the attachment if you need them..

I have a Galaxy Nexus that was stuck in a boot loop at the google logo. I tried using these instructions to reflash the device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394051
It got stuck at the beginning and stayed that way for about 30 minutes. After that i removed the battery and tried to start the device and now the attached image is on the screen no matter what i do.
Can anybody help me get this device working again?

I can't. I tried fast boot and odin mode but no matter what I do that image is displayed.
If you can't get into Fastboot or Download mode with the hardware buttons you're kinda screwed. You will likely have to order a USB JIG to force your phone into Download mode. So you can try to use ODIN to fix it. You can buy these USB JIGs off ebay.
I made a usb jig and tried to get to download mode but I cant. Is there any way to fix this?
Hello,
I've been using my rooted/unlocked Galaxy Nexus for a while now with no problems at all. Earlier today it rebooted for no reason when it was just sitting on my desk. The phone never actually booted and was stuck in a boot loop. I pulled the battery and restarted and went into the recovery menu to do a factory reset. Before I could select the recovery option my phone froze with an exclamation mark android on the screen. I pulled the battery again and now the screen doesn't turn on at all and the phone isn't recognized by my computer. I can't Adb, fastboot, or even Odin. However I can feel the phone vibrate when I power it on. Is there any hope for my phone?
I'm not too sure on this so I'd wait for someone for experienced to reply.
But I can say that it's very hard to brick a Galaxy Nexus. So have some hope.
How do you know you can't fastboot? Are you not able to pull the battery and boot into fastboot when connnected to a computer? Even if the screen doesn't show it, can you do "Fastboot devices" and see it in Command line?
If you can start it up and feel it vibrate, you're definitely not bricked.
Can you get into bootloader? Hold volume up+down and power on.
The android logo you recognised before with the '!' sign was 'Download mode'. If you can see anything on screen there should be no reason why you cant recover it. Don't worry your not bricked.
Same problem!!!

Thanks for the reply. If I hold the volume up, volume down, and power button with the battery in and with the USB unplugged I can feel a vibrate. When I plug the phone into my computer I don't see any fastboot devices. All the drivers are the same and I have tried several USB ports and cords.
If I remove the battery and connect the phone to my computer I hear constant USB connect/disconnect sounds and OMAP4440 constantly appears and disappears in the device manager. Still unable to detect the phone using fastboot or Odin.
What device do you see in device manager? My computer, properties, device manager (top left). It should say something like samsung galaxy Nexus adb device or something.

any luck? I am having similar problems. Phone will not be recognized and I can't access the bootloader. Constant bootloops
i had a similar problem last saturday. Worked on fixing it until yesterday. It was a corrupted sd(from what I can tell) so I never was able to start up my phone again or flash anything to it. I am waiting on a warrenty replacement from samsung. At first I could get to fastboot ect but all flashing errored out. Pretty soon I could only get to a screen with a phone ......triange.....computer screen. Thats where I am at now. I even tried a usb jig to get it back to download mode (which works on lots of samsung devices to get them back from bricked to the oden screen) with no luck. I have seen a few posts saying it is confirmed to work on galaxy nexus, but I had no luck. no luck. On the bright side I was able to pull my droid 2 global out of bricked state yesterday which made me feel a bit better.

You have to use volume up and down at the same time. So press both volume buttons and power button at the same time to get into the bootloader.

I understand that but my volume up button does not work. stopped working randomly about two weeks ago. Therefore I can not get into bootloader. Only odin mode. So once in odin I cant get odin to see the gnex. I imagine its the drivers but they seem to be installing ok. Anybody have any ideas or am i screwed? I also took it apart to see if i could see something wrong with volume up button. No luck
Do you have USB Debugging enabled in your settings? If so, boot your device (yes, I understand that you will only see a black screen, but it doesn't matter) and plug into your PC. Once it is fully booted, open a command prompt on your PC and type: adb reboot bootloader
Then you can get into your recovery and then follow the instructions here.

It was enabled before the issue. Thanks for the advise but t gave up trying to fix it. Its my company line so I just ported my number to a temp phone and awaiting a replacement from assurion. Cant afford it being out of service too long. Guess i will just start over. But this time no hardware issues so bootloader wont be a problem again.
I am trying to root the galaxy nexus with a toolkit. I tried to unlock the boot loader but i got stuck on fastboot so i pulled the battery. When i turned it on it showed and andriod guy(not on its back) with the wort start above it and below it it says downloading do not tun off target. i have not done anything since then because i don't want to mess anything up. Any help?
On the very top it says ODIN MODE

Huh... Pull the battery out, and place it back in.
Press power +volume up +volume down to enter fastboot, then follow efrant's guide to return to stock. There's also a party about rooting.

Hi
I recently received my shiny new M9 and like I have with many HTC phones prior to it unlocked the bootloader installed TWRP (latest beta version) and installed my rom of choice (LeeDroid). For about 10 days now the phone has been great working well on the new rom and all was well with the world.......
Last night the phone rebooted on me and boot looped about or 6 times before finally booting correctly and then behaving normally. Today however the phone is constantly boot looping and failing to boot. I can access the bootloader menu via vol up and down and power button but if i select recovery or download mode the phone simply boot loops over and over. RUU mode also does this.
Once in a blue moon if the phone is left looping over and over it will actually boot into the rom and work ok but as soon as the phone is reset or runs out of juice its all aboard the boot loop express.
regards
Brian
Fastboot commands work however adb commands do not. I have fixed boot loops previously but on this occasion a solution appears to be evading me.

Sounds like a tricky one, you cant get to download mode to flash a new recovery and cant boot recovery. So if you can do fastboot commands do you mean at the bootloader? If so you are limited without s-off in what commands you can do from bootloader menu. I would be looking for an RUU based on your cid to get you back to stock at this point. You may have to wait. You say adb commands dont work.. have you enabled developer options and installer drivers on your pc?

Dev options have indeed been enabled and all drivers installed I can use adb on my partners phone with no issues. Fastboot commands as you say only work at the bootloader screen,
Sadly I cant even flash a RUU the moment i try it simply reboots the phone back into the bootloop :crying:

Try updating to very latest fastboot, I had to update my sdk a while back as fastboot wasnt working properly with newer phones. Worth a try
Still fubar
Once in a blue moon the phone boots into the rom fine and you can use the phone its very weird I literally am all out of ideas now.
Think im gonna bite the bullet and send it back to Vodaphone and pay to get it fixed. I cannot enter download or recovery mode by any method that I have been advised or have read about thanks to those who tried to help it was appreciated.
Well you can try this in the bootloader. Open up a cmd window with fastboot in the directory and type fastboot erase cache
then type fastboot reboot
Download an ruu for your device. Rename the file to 0PJAIMG.zip
Place it on a sdcard with lower than 32gb and flash it. Need to flash it twice. Directly after each other. All done in download mode
I can'r get into download mode sadly and I have tried many many methods from threads about how to do so. Recovery mode and Downlode mode are just not working hence I think It's going to have to be repaired :crying:

I do indeed and the phone then either shows the battery indicator for about 5 or 6 seconds then reboots or simply reboots. If i selected recovery mode in bootloader the phone just reboots as well.
How did you get into boot loader?
You could choose download there, or reboot into ruu mode

I can get into bootloader by holding power + volume up+down but If I select either recovery or download mode the phone simply reboots normally and commences boot looping again. If RUU mode is selected the phone DOES reboot into RUU mode but if you try and flash the RUU the phone simply reboots and boot loops.
Try placing the zip I mentioned above on SD card.
Still unable to enter download mode via any means so I think it's going to have to go in the freezer till it wont boot and I can send it back
Things I still CANNOT do
Enter Recovery (Phone simply reboots and commences boot loop)
Enter Download Mode (Phone simply reboots and commences boot loop)
If I try and charge the phone with it turned off as soon as it gets power it boots up and boot loops Once in every few hundred boot loops the phone will make it into the rom and will work ok untill eventually it decides to bootloop again after a few hours.
