Hi
I recently received my shiny new M9 and like I have with many HTC phones prior to it unlocked the bootloader installed TWRP (latest beta version) and installed my rom of choice (LeeDroid). For about 10 days now the phone has been great working well on the new rom and all was well with the world.......
Last night the phone rebooted on me and boot looped about or 6 times before finally booting correctly and then behaving normally. Today however the phone is constantly boot looping and failing to boot. I can access the bootloader menu via vol up and down and power button but if i select recovery or download mode the phone simply boot loops over and over. RUU mode also does this.
Once in a blue moon if the phone is left looping over and over it will actually boot into the rom and work ok but as soon as the phone is reset or runs out of juice its all aboard the boot loop express.
regards
Brian
Fastboot commands work however adb commands do not. I have fixed boot loops previously but on this occasion a solution appears to be evading me.

Sounds like a tricky one, you cant get to download mode to flash a new recovery and cant boot recovery. So if you can do fastboot commands do you mean at the bootloader? If so you are limited without s-off in what commands you can do from bootloader menu. I would be looking for an RUU based on your cid to get you back to stock at this point. You may have to wait. You say adb commands dont work.. have you enabled developer options and installer drivers on your pc?

Dev options have indeed been enabled and all drivers installed I can use adb on my partners phone with no issues. Fastboot commands as you say only work at the bootloader screen,
Sadly I cant even flash a RUU the moment i try it simply reboots the phone back into the bootloop :crying:

Try updating to very latest fastboot, I had to update my sdk a while back as fastboot wasnt working properly with newer phones. Worth a try
Still fubar
Once in a blue moon the phone boots into the rom fine and you can use the phone its very weird I literally am all out of ideas now.
Think im gonna bite the bullet and send it back to Vodaphone and pay to get it fixed. I cannot enter download or recovery mode by any method that I have been advised or have read about thanks to those who tried to help it was appreciated.
Well you can try this in the bootloader. Open up a cmd window with fastboot in the directory and type fastboot erase cache
then type fastboot reboot
Download an ruu for your device. Rename the file to 0PJAIMG.zip
Place it on a sdcard with lower than 32gb and flash it. Need to flash it twice. Directly after each other. All done in download mode
I can'r get into download mode sadly and I have tried many many methods from threads about how to do so. Recovery mode and Downlode mode are just not working hence I think It's going to have to be repaired :crying:

That's not possible, do u press power and up volume for 10 secs so it restarts and then immediately volume down?

I do indeed and the phone then either shows the battery indicator for about 5 or 6 seconds then reboots or simply reboots. If i selected recovery mode in bootloader the phone just reboots as well.
How did you get into boot loader?
You could choose download there, or reboot into ruu mode

I can get into bootloader by holding power + volume up+down but If I select either recovery or download mode the phone simply reboots normally and commences boot looping again. If RUU mode is selected the phone DOES reboot into RUU mode but if you try and flash the RUU the phone simply reboots and boot loops.
Try placing the zip I mentioned above on SD card.
Still unable to enter download mode via any means so I think it's going to have to go in the freezer till it wont boot and I can send it back
Things I still CANNOT do
Enter Recovery (Phone simply reboots and commences boot loop)
Enter Download Mode (Phone simply reboots and commences boot loop)
If I try and charge the phone with it turned off as soon as it gets power it boots up and boot loops Once in every few hundred boot loops the phone will make it into the rom and will work ok untill eventually it decides to bootloop again after a few hours.

Well that's one of the perks of flashing a 3.xx.xxx.x ROM on 1.xx.xxx.x(4.4.2) firmware. You get to have extremely long boot up times and you won't have a proper working radio which leaves you with no wifi, data, gps, bluetooth...
Your OTA probably didn't work because of a custom recovery, not because it was rooted. Root does NOT prevent OTA updates from installing, though you might lose root access after the OTA.
If you're stuck at Boot screen hold Volume UP + Power button for 10seconds, as soon as the screen goes black press volume Down + Power button to enter into Bootloader.
Flash a custom recovery like TWRP. Go into recovery and restore a nandroid backup for your device.
first thx alot for replaying
i already got TWRP installed but the screen is stock on boot screen but still manage on the back ground to load my current rom as i'm hearing the log in sound of the rom :S
so i tried to power it off without seeing by holding the power key the power option pop up and touching random parts of the screen but i failed
i even waited for the battery to empty and factory reset the phone with no use
is these is any way even by adb to power off my phone
plzzz help

By the look of things you are booted in OS but have no screen, hence why try and hold power button in and randomly tap to shut off?
I told you already to Hold Volume UP + Power button for about 10seconds and then hold volume down + power to enter bootloader.
You can of course also just plug it in and try to reboot to bootloader using adb, if you have USB debugging enabled. adb reboot bootloader
As already said just hold power and volume up for around 12 seconds then immediately press and hold power and volume down. This will always get you into the boot loader.
However if adb is working just use the command above. Reflash the original boot.img and you should be good.

Use that to get back to the stock rom for your phone. Then after installing the right one, get the OTA

Never leave your device with an empty battery. In any circumstances.
Because you might not be able to charge it. Recover the device while you have some power on your battery.
Remember, this is a unibody device. It's not so easy to pull out the battery.
when i boot up my device it goes strait to the screen where u
boot to bootloader
boot to download mode
boot to recovery mode
ddr test
powerdown
when i select either except power down
it just boots back to the before mentioned white bootloader screen
i also tried 0PJAIMG.ZIP and put it in SDCard
i am s-off unlocked ---is it fixable or done for

To clarify, are you saying that selecting any of the options except 'Power Down' cause you to reboot back into download mode?

Well, you've already tried RUU via sdcard. From your choice of ROM, it looks like you're using a Verizon-branded device - is that correct?
It may be worth connecting your phone to a PC and attempting to repair your phone using Verizon's Software Upgrade Assistant (start with HTC's Sync Manager) to repair the phone. Verizon provides instructions on it's website.
Assuming this works - and that's a bit of a long shot, given your symptoms - you'll almost certainly be returned to a S-ON state. If your phone is currently non-functional, that seems worthwhile but you'll have to make that decision.
HTC's Sync Manager come up auto when phone gets connected but cant get phone to connect to it good idea tho-i will leave it hooked awhile mabe it will --------

I have a very similar problem. My phone is Unlocked and S-OFF. I tried to install TWRP after I had gone back to a standard rom. When I went to recovery it boot looped. To get back to bootloader I have to hold volume up and down if I try to go to download mode it boot loops if I power down with whilst connected to the computer it boot loops. I have tried to install a standard rom but get partition errors "remote: partition table doesn't exist". Does anyone have any Ideas?
When I try to use fastboot to boot into custom recovery (twrp-3.0.2-7-pme-DEBUG.img), fastboot says "booting..." then hangs. HTC 10 hangs in download mode until I have to hold all buttons to hard reboot. This also happened when trying to flash cache for magisk autoroot method (before test twrp for HTC 10 nougat released).
Could this be an adb driver issue?

Hang on, when you get into download mode you can navigate right? With the volume keys, I mean.
Also, do fastboot devices
I assume it'll show up as you're giving it a command, but it's not doing it properly.
Why not just navigate to recovery manually? Go into download mode.
Reboot to bootloader.
Reboot to recovery.
Pretty simple, really. If you're hanging on that screen, you may have an issue. Try to reflash the TWRP for N FW.
Since you said it happened before...it may be? Try another computer, if you can. If all else fails, run an RUU (last resort option).

Could have been that something went wrong to damage the FW, thus RUU.
We'll leave it at that.
Glad it got sorted though!
So after locking the bootloader in an attempt to get Android Pay to work, my OP3 tried to reboot itself but the only thing that happens is the Android logo flashes for half a second and the phone vibrates as it usually does when I boot it, then the screen goes dark for a second, and it repeats continuously like this. I'm completely unable to use my phone because of this.
I've tried entering fastboot mode which seems to work but when I try to enter recovery mode or start the phone, the same thing happens. I can only power off or restart the bootloader from this screen.
I'm assuming the bootloader is locked because the device state is displayed as locked in red while I'm in fastboot mode (or bootloader mode?).

OK that's fine, mine suffered the same things but the bootloader was still unlocked.
So I was trying to install TWRP on my phone. I have a Mac and was looking at some online guide. I had a pin set-up, and this is what I did:
1. Installed ADB and fast boot
2. Unlocked the boot loader on the phone
3. Check the terminal commands that the device is connected correctly
4. Had the ABD and TWRP img files on the phone.
5. Tried to fast boot TWRP.
What is happening now is that I'm stuck on a boot loop of a TWRP screen, the screen if flashing and won't load. I'm guessing to let the battery die out over night
I was looking at a few threads and some say that I should flash the factory image. Everyone is saying flash the stock file... However, I can't even get the phone to turn off or go back into bootload mode for my computer to recognize the phone.
Any tips?
Hold volume down and the power button down. Keep it held down might take sometime but you should get to the loader. boot twrpRC1 flash rc2 after getting in twrp. You could also start fresh by fishing factory once you get back to bootloader
Long press power button to shut it off
or press power button and vol down together and will take you to fatsboot mode and from there you can use volume button to seltect bootloader or recovery
I don't do pin's so I'm not familiar with the hangups involved with those and TWRP.
But I guess the first thing I'd do is remove the pin lock.
Then power down phone.
Wait 30 seconds!!!!!
Press power + volume down until phone powers on, then let go.
Should boot right into bootloader.
Fastboot boot twrp.
Install TWRP from the fastbooted TWRP.
I'm not familiar with the Mac process but on a PC we need to fastboot into TWRP from an image file on our computer first, and then flash the file on the phone.
I recommend keeping a copy of the boot signer on your device, flashing this fixes most of these types of issues I have found, especially with new rom upgrades etc.
Did you let the phone fully boot into the system after unlocking the bootloader, or did you immediately try and boot twrp?
I've had this problem twice before, both after a fastboot unlock, and I had to let it fully boot into the system before proceeding

Hey I think that was it. I immediately tried to boot twrp without letting the system fully boot.
Thanks you all for the support. Go XDA!
The first question everyone should be asking is if OP was on the O Beta previously.. If that is the case Op needs to flash the factory image in both slots.
Put phone into the bootloader
Flash all bat
Put phone into the bootloader
fastboot --set-active=other
fastboot reboot bootloader
flash all bat
fastboot boot twrp
Even if OP wasnt on the O beta, this should fix the issue.
After successfully flashing Oreo, I am seeing the same flashing/looping TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1).
Long press of Pwr restarted the phone.
Rinsed & repeat a few times.
Any thoughts to flash TWRP (temporarily)?
