Hey guys,
I just installed CM10.1 (official release!) onto my i9195. But now I can't get my H+-connection, which I had with the stock rom. I do get normal H-connection though. Don't know about LTE.
And it is not true, that H+ just doesn't get shown. It says "HSPA:10" in the Settings>Status-menu

. I do get a H+-connection with a tablet which runs CM 10.1 as well (Says "HSPAP:15" here)!
What can I do? / Is it a known problem with that phone or CM in general? (didn't find any information about it)
I did a pretty clean install with a full wipe, I think.

Have you run speedtest? What kind of speeds do you get?
For me it also shows only H but I know I have H+ in my contract and get H+ speeds with speed test, according to this page: http://www.clove.co.uk/viewtechnicalinformation.aspx?content=3B2BD491-6465-4C70-ABDB-5A12A06C3D8D
E: Screenshot from a speedtest run yesterday.
Thanks for the quick answer!
I do get 7,2 Mbps downstream and 1,5 Mbps upstream. The downstream at least is exactly what I should get with normal HSPA, so no indication of HSPAP here...
And you are at the same CM-Version (latest stable release, CM 1.1.3) and got the same model (i9195) and followed the wiki-install-instructions??!
Mhhh.. What does it say for you in the settings>status menu as "network type"? "HSPAP:15", I guess?
I am using 10.1.3 stable and have H+ and DC where I am all the time.
This is actually quite a strange issue. I've never been able to get H+ or LTE in CyanogenMod, despite being able to in stock rom. I see people from other countries/carriers do get it, so it would suggest there's some differences at play here.

Yes running 10.1.3, installed within 15 minutes after getting the phone, only thing I did when it was still stock was to make sure it really is i9195 as it didnt say it on the box.

Mhh, may be a problem with Vodafone germany then. I'm just wondering why it does work with my galaxy tab and the same SIM-card and CM installed.
Could I need a radio- or baseband- or kernel-update or smth? But as I said, I had H+ with the stock rom ...
//Update:
I've been running some speedtest in a large city, but I allwayas only get ab out 7,2 Mbps downstream.
As it works with the oher device (tablet), I assume that the CM-version may be bricked in that radio-regard, despite runnig like a charm in any other regard.
Just tested with my Lumia 920 with the same SIM and it's showing H+ and getting same speeds as the S4 Mini, so in my case it seems the icon is only showing the wrong network type but the speed is there...
Maybe if you updated your modem and RIL? Here is the stock ROM thread for out device and there is a German vodafone version. Try grabbing the modem and RIL from there and flash it over to your CM install. Unfortunately I don't know how to do it, just a suggestion. :good:

Thanks for all that effort, first of all! Saw that thread before, but didn't notice the Vodafone version. I guess, I might give it a shot. RIL is just a software-layer in the OS, according to wikipedia. I shouldn't be able to totally brick my phone, right? Would ofc rather stay on normal HSPA
//another small update:
I just found out that I own a device with a french country region-code (XEF). May that be a reason?
Last thought for today: I have to test internet-speed with my tablet, which shows the H+-icon. If it doesn't get over 7,2 mbit, things doesn't matter anyways Than it is maybe just my contract with Vodafone which keeps speed from getting higher. And I'm a moron, then My assumption, that, if my device shows a H+-icon it is surfing with more than 7,2 Mbps all the time would have been wrong and I think that's quite possible.
Will keep you guys updated...
Yeah, I don't get higher speeds at the moment with my tablet, so my contract seems to limit it to 7,2 Mbps, which I wasn't aware of. So it might be the case, just as described by labbe-, that I could get higher speeds, though my device doesn't show the H+-icon :silly: I would call this a little bug in CM and hope, that it gets sort out anytime. I stop further investigations here for the moment, as I don't want to change my contract with Vodafone.
Thanks for the help. Does CM 10.3 come for the i9195? I'd love to see it :fingers-crossed:

Now that i recall it will show H+ regardless of the max speed, I remember my old SGS3 i9300 with my old contract showing that even though it was capped to 1Mbps, so that definently explains that =)
iirc they fixed the signal indicator in CM10 for that device though, don't know why it's not working for our device or the state of i9300 at the moment. To be honest, I actually prefer the static H rather than it jumping between 3G, H and H+ depending on my location and signal strenght
Someone just said posted back in the discussion thread they are running 10.2 and will upload it later today. Apparently the camera doesn't work yet though, so I'd be careful with that. Personally I'm going to wait for official M milestone build.

Hey everyone,
What kind of data speeds are you getting on HSPA+ with your Galaxy Nexus? For some reason mine won't hit more than 3mbps, even though my old G2 can. I know I've seen people hit much higher than that on their Nexii. At this point I'm wondering if there's problem with my phone or if I'm overreacting.
What have other people been seeing? Have your speeds been better or worse than your previous phone?
I had a G2 previously on T-Mobile, and my HSPA+ speeds are about 50%-75% faster overall on my GNexus (ie 5mbps/2mbps on G2, 8mbps/4mbps on GN).
There are huge threads on this already though, with people specificially reporting T-Mobile speeds in different areas.

Interesting... Sounds like I need to track down those threads and read up then. I just thought it was weird that I always seem to cap at 3.
I'm Galaxy Nexus has very unimpressive speeds on T-Mobile too.
Most of the time I'm around 2-3Mbps. Once in a while it does reach up to 6MBps, but that's more the exception. Most of the time it's no faster than my Vibrant 3G. Except the Galaxy Nexus also has latency about twice as high, about 150-200ms (when it's not getting 1600-1800ms from the 3G to H flip).
Here's the other thread on the subject. Seems we are not alone.

Just replace the _h with _4g
Here in NYC it looks like they finally uncapped the upload and 5.76mbps max theoretical is now the limit versus the old 1.8mbps.

Man, 2.5mbps in San Fran is abysmal compared to what I was getting when I was out there last October. I was pulling 8 down and 2 up consistently on my G2.
I flashed UGKL1 and the results are slightly better than XXKK6, but nothing noticeable (hit 3.04 instead of 3.00). At home I was hitting 1.5 to 2, where I could only pull down 0.5mbps in the past.
I also tried flashing XXKL1, which was beyond terrible (0.09mbps up, 0.04 down). I also tried UGKK7, which was also unusable pulling down only 0.40mbps and 0.20 up.
So, I'm back on UGKL1 for now. I'm going to bring my G2 to work tomorrow and see how it fairs as well.
Additionally, I'm using the same SIM card that came with my G2 in the Nexus; could that be a problem? I know for the G2 it was imperative that I upgraded since my old sim was 4 years old. Have things changed enough in the last year and a half that my SIM could be restricting this phone?
Connectivity for me with my Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile is horrendous. I've looked at maps loading for at least 2 minutes or more. High ping, timing out. etc.
Anyone have a good radio update that works well for them? It's especially bad when moving. I don't have problems with my Galaxy S 4G or Galaxy S II (which is dual cell so the radio works a bit differently)

The 3GS isn't capable of full 7.2Mbps speeds due to no HSUPA so of course they enjoy their AT&T.

I'm disappointed with the 3G speeds I get on T-Mobile, my Galaxy Nexus gets even slightly slower results than my 18 month old Vibrant 3G on Speedtest.
But I just got T-Mobile's $30 a month plan with 5GB of data. Which sure beats the AT&T plan with 3GB of data for about $60 (including the employer discount). So I guess I'll tolerate the slower speeds for the lower price.
I have a Stock (rooted) Galaxy Nexus GSM (4.0.1) software on T-Mobile. I'm getting HORRIBLY SLOW data speeds even with full signal HSPA.
Anyone else having this issue? What did you do to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

I would try a different radio/baseband. Although people have different results, the UGKL1 and UGKK7 are made for North America including AWS bands (T-mobile). You can read more here.
The latest North American radio, UGKL1, has been working well for me. Give it a go here.

Edit: Don't mind the wifi indicator...I did these tests with wifi off.
What server are you using? Try using one near an internet backbone for the best results, the distance from you can be misleading because the connections don't always lead directly there.
Servers in or near Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Los Angelos should be the most reliable.
Is there any way to check if T-Mobile is throttling you?

I will try a different server. I called T-Mobile and they are doing a service check to see if the towers are jacked. They said they saw something fishy reported about the towers on Feb 29th, and they aren't sure if the issue has been fixed yet. Hopefully that's the problem and they're working on a fix. I don't think it's the speed-test app though because anything that has to do with data is incredibly slow. Took me 7 minutes to download a 2mb app! My wife's nexus s is doing the exact same thing, so I think it probably has to do with the tower (hopefully!). I'll try changing servers though and report back if the numbers improve significantly. Sad I'm the only one having a problem with this. Thanks to everyone for the input. Thanks xHausx for checking in!

No. They only throttle at specific levels. Either 2GB or 5GB depending on your plan.
Figured it out!
I figured it out! The T-Mobile tower right next to my house is bad. I was driving around and ran the speed test in a couple other spots and got some great speeds! When I got back near the tower by our house I tested again, and again it sucked...so thank God, it's the tower and not the phone! Thankfully at home I have wifi, so who cares about the tower...I mean, it'll be nice when they get it fixed, but I'm good for now. Love the 4G speeds and really glad I can use them in other spots! Had me worried for a sec! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions! Really appreciate the help.

That's actually pretty bad for 4G. That download speed is what would be expected of a 'good' 3G connection, in the areas where Sprint has upgraded backhaul.

EDIT: thanks, sfhub. I understand those concepts well enough, I enter just actually never bothered to check what "good" 4G speed should actually be.
Maybe I should look into that, lol.

Things are relative. A modem is not going to make a bad area all of a sudden better. The problem with most Sprint areas which have speed issues is the backhaul is overloaded. So as an analogy, a new wifi driver is not going to suddenly make your DSL WAN connection turn into a FIOS connection. If it doesn't make your connection worse or things are slightly better, than that should be a sign of good things for most people. You want the radio to allow you the full potential that is available *in your area*. The radio isn't going fix endemic problems in your area, you just want it to not make things worse.

Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
What I do is reboot to recovery, clear cache and dalvik, flash modem, reboot, update profile then prl then reboot. Sometimes you need to try again on profile/prl. If it doesn't take by the third time then something isn't right. I don't know how to fix that either.
I have been getting pretty good speeds on FD26, however, I started getting frequent LOS today. Was at a music festival earlier, and thought it may be an issue with overloaded towers, but it just LOS'd again at home. I haven't had an LOS issue since pre EL29. Flashed to FB24 a few days ago, then FB26 (nodata) yesterday. Considering doing a full wipe and reflash to see if it cures the issue.

Oops, my bad. I'm used to seeing speeds in bit-terms.
I like it. Smooth overall, i have no major complaints. I have noticed areas where i normally have minimal service, i now have none, and my 3g speeds are terrible. However sprint is also doing some major overhauling, so im going to blame sprint. Ive compared my phone to my wifes stock el29, and i think each user will have a different feel towards things. I love the lockscreens and smoother transitions fd26 has, but i think in my area staying stock is in my best benefit as far as service goes....Looks like if i want my service back i might have to go back to el29. SFHUB, do you think its possible that maybe all the sprint network changes could be the reason for my bad 3g data speeds and poor connections? My wifes phone see's 3g and shows it, maybe 1 or 2 bars, and i show none....however she cant browse online or do anything...just make a phone call....i can do that to....what do u think? I formatted all and did a fresh flash from el29 to fd26 btw....(also im in niles,IL and chicago,IL)
If your wife's e4gt gets signal, then it is probably the modem/kernel in FD26 causing you issues. Also check to see if they are on the same PRL and try update profile.
If that doesn't help, try ##72786# reset from the dialer, you'll need your MSL which you can get using "getprop ril.MSL" in adb shell.
I've never in m whole life used a gsm phone. I have the unlocked nexus and got myself tmobile service. It was the best coverage for the cost. But it seems my data speeds are sh*tty. Everything is super slow. Do I have to configure my phone for proper use with tmo? Everything seems to be OK except data. I've checked coverage I'm all green everywhere, doesn't make sense. Here's a screen cap of a speed test.

have you tested the speed in another location? example if that test was done at home, do one at work/school and compare
if it is just as slow you can try flashing a different radio..
i have generally been getting about 3-10 mbps depending on where i am/time of test...faster speeds as it gets later (network traffic slows down quite a bit at night around 10pm-midnight)
Somethings not right there. Did you just activate the service? Sometimes it can take a couple days for everything to get squared away on T-Mobile's end.
Also, have you double checked your APN settings to make sure everything is in order?
I'd also try some reboots and airplane cycles to make sure its connecting. Although it looks like you've got full HSPA+ connectivity. It could also just be a fluke with the tower you're on or the speedtest server you're testing on.

I activated the service yesterday and got the phone the day before. I will try rebooting and airplanes toggling. Data works, but at a snails pace. Here are my APN settings sorry if they're out of order.

I'm not bootloader unlocked or even rooted for that matter. When I do I will play around with radios. I even tried googling a way to force 3g instead of HSPA+ to make sure it wasn't the tower. No luck yet. I did a speed test at my home and it was the same. The speed test I posted was at work.

APNs seem right from what I can remember.
I think you either have a SIM problem, a tower problem, or data hasn't been activated properly on your account. I'd give it another full day (T-Mo can be slow to activate fully), and if its not working, call and tell them your phone's data speed is extremely slow. They can try to reset it on their end (or send new SIM) or check for a tower issue.
Did you get the 200MB plan and use it all up? Because they throttle you when you use it all up. Them look like throttled speeds to me.
Or maybe, they are throttling you by mistake...
Also, have you restarted your phone?
Power it off for a bit. Pull the battery... then start it back up. I've seen that fix MANY things, and it's easy.
I have the 30 dollar 5gb data 100 mins unlim text.

This is the official T-Mobile app that'll show your account info... Can't hurt.

I rebooted and I DL the app I will post this and leave it off for a bit without the battery. Thank you guys so much for your help so far.

Really just think T-Mobile needs to finish the activation and the speeds will be fixed.

Looks like everything is as it should be. T-Mobile Monthly4G tech support is nice... but difficult to understand. I'd keep my hopes up.
OK. I'll leave it for a few days and if its still not working I'll give em a call. Once again thank you.

So its been about three days and its still the same. I flashes a few different radio firmwares and I found one that will give me anywhere from .1 to .3Mbps down. I have opened a ticked with T-Mobile thinking it may be the tower(s) in my town. Haven't heard back yet but I want to keep this updated. If it doesn't work out I will probably end up going with an at&t mnvo

The same things is with my phone. Three days since activation and data speeds are 1x slow. It's time to play with radios
I've tried more radios than I can count. So I ordered an st att sim and got it activated today. There is a huuuge difference from .05 tmo to 3.5 att st so I guess even if coverage is good and they say its fine there are some places where the actual back haul of the network is seriously lacking. If it still doesn't work for you go ahead and try a different provider. Made a world of difference for me.

im getting around 8-10mbps speed on OOS roms and wifi speed decreases to 200-300kbps in custom roms. tried RR, tipsy, beanstalk, pure cm everything gives same result. can anyone help me with this?
I seem to have the same problem.

same here, all CM based current builds like RR, PureCM, Official CM, Blackjubel's RR and others. They reach almost max speed of my connection in a speed test near the end of the test but when downloading apps from Play Store, it is very slow, almost 50% slower than OxygenOS. Wifi was fine on pre-DASH builds.

Not only that, reception seems worse as well. On oos322 i get about 2 bars of signal on the third floor of my house. On cm the connection already starts dropping and disconnecting on the second floor
Same for me. Using now DU, working as it should and worth a try!

hows wifi speed and conectivity in DU? i tried beanstalk too but it gave same result
Are you using a 2.4 or 5 GHz network? ... I found the 2.4 GHz was having sub-1mbps performance, but the 5 GHz seemed fine. I don't have solid measurements to back that up, but I also get worse signal strength on the 5 GHz band, but higher throughput so there was definitely a correlation to the 2.4 range.
Oxygen OS didn't seem to suffer the same behavior. I only observed it experimenting with CM.

As it should. Beanstalk is based of cm, as far as i know. It just includes some DU features. But DU is based of aosp. I think that's the reason why it works.

unicorn is not based on cm. so no problem with its speed. problem is only seen in cm builds
@mkr2511 I know, but you asked how the conectivity is, here you have screens. Thats it.

There's a lot of config 'overrides' in that. Do you happen to know which of the line items is the winning one or is it more a case of this is transplanted from another source and something in there removes the issue?
Thanks.
