[Firmware/OTA's] [root66] SGH-T999(All Variants!) Official & Root66 FW & OTA Updates!
ALL Official Stock Firmware, ROOT66 Firmware and Leaked OTA's!!! For models T999, T999L, T999V and T999N
See POST #2 for detailed instructions on how to flash OTA'S and Firmware.
Below you will find listed all stock official firmware as well as official and leaked OTA updates! It never hurts to have an extra source! I figured it could prove useful to have all of the official and leaked releases together in one place. Especially for the leaked OTA's, considering that a few of them are no longer available through the original source, and there is no guarantee that we will always have access to them. I will be hosting the OTA's from my androidfilehost.com and dev-host.org accounts. I will also list the original hotfile link as obtained from Sammobile and/or samsung-updates. Considering the size of the official firmware files, I am only hosting the latest version, currently UVALJ4.. For now I am just posting the links to the rest of these files. (I would like to host these in the future, if I can warrant the space used, or if anyone would like to send me a link to a mirror of their own, I will add it as well).
Sammobile and Samsung-Updates Links are the sites links to hotfile slow downloads.
Latest releases listed first.
I hope some of you find this useful!
********************root66********************
Below here you will find the pre-rooted Stock firmware as put together by mrRobinson! We decided to put direct links to their downloads here to make it easier for all of you to find! These are the exact links you will find in his thread. If you have any questions or require support for these please follow the link below to his thread where you can search for your answer. Root66 questions should also be posted in his thread as they are provided by him and he should be able to follow any support needed/given for his releases. (I will also try to help answer your questions in his thread)
Don't forget to thank him while you are there!!!!:good:

More helpful information coming soon!!!
How to Flash Firmware and OTA's!
How to Flash the OTA's
Requirements:
Unmodified stock system
No modem or kernel changes
How to choose the correct OTA update:
The updates are named to show Current Build - Updated Build.
So if you are on UVALEM, you would use UVALEM - UVALH2.
Tools
Here are some tools/utilities you will need, along with a few extras!
Odin 3.07
USB Drivers - V. 1.5.9.0
TWRP Recovery 2.3.1.0
Zip | Tar
CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
Zip | Tar
CWM Non-Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
Zip | Tar
Ill fix the un-linked ones shortly!
There are a few different ways to flash the OTA updates. I will cover Stock Recovery, Mobile Odin and CWM.
USING STOCK RECOVERY
As Samsung Intended It!
A quick note about this method: If you want to flash in Stock Recovery, you MUST be fully stock on the correct build. For example, if updating from UVALEM to UVALH2, you must be running a fully stock UVALEM system, including recovery, kernel, modem, etc. This also means no mods, no additions/removals to and from the /system partition, no build.prop edits, etc. Otherwise the update will fail! I will explain why a little later.
Download the OTA to your phones External sdcard.
[*]Backup any important data, just in case!
[*]If you want to stay rooted, install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the Play Store (skip this if you are not rooted)
[*]Preserve root with Rootkeeper
[*]Reboot into Recovery (Power off the phone. Hold Volume Up + Home + Power. When you see the blue text flash at the top, release the buttons)
[*]Select Install Zip from External Storage
[*]Find your downloaded OTA zip file, select it and confirm to flash.
[*]Once complete, reboot your phone.
[*]If you used Rootkeeper to preserve root, Open the app and restore root.
[*]Open Superuser/SuperSU and then a root requiring app to confirm you are rooted.
[*]DONE!!! :victory:
:highfive:
USING CLOCKWORKMOD (CWM) RECOVERY Ver. 6.0.1.2 recommended.
Note about Rootkeeping: With the CWM method, I am putting the Rootkeeper steps here simply because if anyone ever wants to try it, they won't have to ask! This method will allow you to keep CWM Recovery, however, which will let you re-root quite easily anyway!
Download the correct OTA zip to your phone. (Either internal or external storage should work just fine)
Backup any important data, just in case! (I suggest backing up your contacts using the export to vcard file function in Contacts Settings)
If you want to stay rooted, install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the Play Store (skip this if you are not rooted)
Preserve root with Rootkeeper (Alternatively, you could just download the Superuser/SuperSU flashable zip, and re-root after flash)
Reboot into Recovery (Power off the phone. Hold Volume Up + Home + Power. When you see the blue text flash at the top, release the buttons)
NANDROID!!! NANDROID!!!
Select Install Zip from sdcard
Select either "choose zip from sdcard" or "choose zip from external sdcard"
Browse to and select the OTA zip file you downloaded.
Confirm to start the flash.
Once complete, (if you choose not to use the rootkeeper method) browse to your flashable Superuser/SuperSU zip and flash following the same steps above.
Select Reboot System Now.
CWM should now warn that recovery will be rewritten, choose the option which prevents this in order to preserve your CWM recovery.
If you used Rootkeeper to preserve root, Open the app and restore root.
Open Superuser/SuperSU and then another root-requiring app to confirm you are rooted.
DONE!!! :victory:
:highfive:
USING MOBILE ODIN PRO
My Personal Favorite! Highly recommend!
Note about paid vs free: The following instructions are based upon Mobile ODIN Pro. The Pro version naturally has more options than the free one, most notably is its ability to inject root during the flashing process. It costs $5 in the Play Store and IMO, is ABSOLUTELY worth the price!!! It is also supporting Chainfire, one of our Elite Devs, and his amazing work! For those of you who, for whatever reason, cannot or will not pay for the Pro version, there is a Free version here on XDA! The Free version does NOT inject root during the flashing process, and is basically what you would expect from a Lite version. It will still work for our purposes here. I will explain how to use the Free version after these instructions for Pro.
MOBILE ODIN IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE APPS!!!!! :good:
Download the correct OTA zip to your phone's internal or external storage.
Backup any important data, just in case! (I suggest backing up your contacts using the export to vcard file function in Contacts Settings)
NANDROID!!!
Start Mobile Odin Pro
If this is the first time run, allow it to download its additional files
Scroll down and select OTA / Update ZIP
Choose Internal/External Storage depending on where your OTA zip is located
Browse to and select the OTA you wish to flash
Verify that under the OTA / Update ZIP line, it shows the path to your file
Scroll down to the EVERROOT section
Make sure that all 3 are checked, Enable EverRoot, Inject Superuser (SuperSU), and Inject Mobile ODIN
Under the WIPE section you have the option to Wipe data and cache, and/or Wipe Dalvik Cache. You may choose to select one or both of these, however, I recommend leaving un-checked for now. (I have run into problems with EverRoot in the past when selecting these options. You can always wipe AFTER updating.)
Select Flash Firmware, then Continue to confirm. Also continue at the prompt about replacing Maps. (We have enough memory so it does not actually do this.)
Mobile ODIN will now take over and flash the OTA!
Once complete, it may reboot into recovery. Reboot system if it does.
Open Superuser/SuperSU and then another root-requiring app to confirm you are rooted.
DONE!!! :victory:
:highfive:
USING MOBILE ODIN FREE
Note about free version: Mobile ODIN Lite does not have the EverRoot ability. Also it will not automatically download its required files, so you will have to manually download and install the Flash Kernel from the thread.
Go to Chainfire's thread for Mobile ODIN
Read, Read, Read, and Read! Read all of Posts 1-3.
Download and install Mobile ODIN Lite attached to Post 1.
Go to Post #8 and download and install the correct Flash Kernel. MobileODIN_FlashKernel_T999-v2.0.apk
Download the correct OTA zip to your phone's internal or external storage.
Backup any important data, just in case! (I suggest backing up your contacts using the export to vcard file function in Contacts Settings)
NANDROID!!!
If you want to stay rooted, install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the Play Store (skip this if you are not rooted)
Preserve root with Rootkeeper
Start Mobile Odin
Scroll down and select OTA / Update ZIP
Choose Internal/External Storage depending on where your OTA zip is located
Browse to and select the OTA you wish to flash
Verify that under the OTA / Update ZIP line, it shows the path to your file
DO NOT CHECK WIPE DATA OR DALVIK!!! This will prevent Rootkeeper from working! (You can always wipe AFTER updating.)
Select Flash Firmware, then Continue to confirm. Also continue at the prompt about replacing Maps. (We have enough memory so it does not actually do this.)
Mobile ODIN will now take over and flash the OTA!
Once complete, it may reboot into recovery. Reboot system if it does.
If you used Rootkeeper to preserve root, Open the app and restore root.
Open Superuser/SuperSU and then another root-requiring app to confirm you are rooted.
DONE!!! :victory:
:highfive:
How to Flash the Stock Firmware
The stock firmware comes in a .tar or .tar.md5 file format intended to be used in ODIN. The root66 version of the firmware is the full official stock firmware with ONLY ONE CHANGE! It is pre-rooted! Don't forget to follow the link to the original thread so you can Thank mrRobinson for all of his work on these! Flashing EITHER the original or the root66 versions will NOT trip the flash counter! They are identical except for root.
Tip: I keep a copy of the root66 firmware on my computer for use in ODIN. This way I am always ready to go if I have to Odin back to stock for any reason. I also keep an unmodified copy of the firmware on my phone for use with Mobile Odin PRO. (No need for root66 version since Mobile Odin injects root during flash)
I will cover flashing the full stock firmware .tar files using both regular (or PC) ODIN, and Mobile ODIN Pro.
USING ODIN
Download and install the latest Samsung USB Drivers
Download and extract Odin
Download the firmware of your choosing (use the root66 version if you want root)
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the folder you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the FW you downloaded
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache! (It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
DONE!!! :victory:
:highfive:
USING MOBILE ODIN PRO
Note about EverRoot: With Mobile Odin Pro, you can flash the unmodified stock firmware and using the EverRoot option, root will be injected during the flash. This has NEVER failed for me!
Download the firmware of your choice to your phone's internal or external storage.
Backup any important data, just in case! (I suggest backing up your contacts using the export to vcard file function in Contacts Settings)
NANDROID!!!
Start Mobile Odin Pro
If this is the first time run, allow it to download its additional files
Scroll down and select Open file...
Choose Internal/External Storage depending on where your firmware .tar or .tar.md5 is located
Browse to and select the firmware you wish to flash. Mobile Odin will tell you which partitions will be flashed.
Depending on the contents of the file, each of the partitions listed will show the path to the selected firmware.
You have the option of selecting which partitions you want to flash. For example, if you do not want to flash recovery, just press the recovery option and select Clear. Mobile Odin will now flash the firmware minus the recovery partition! (Alternatively, if you want to only flash recovery, you can either deselect everything else, or extract the recovery.img, press Recovery in Mobile Odiin and browse to the .img file. Yet another great function of this app!)
You can always wipe AFTER flashing.)
Select Flash Firmware, then Continue to confirm. Also continue at the prompt about replacing Maps. (We have enough memory so it does not actually do this.)
Mobile ODIN will now take over and flash the firmware!
Once complete, it may reboot into recovery. Reboot system if it does.
Open Superuser/SuperSU and then another root-requiring app to confirm you are rooted.
DONE!!! :victory:

FaQ / Troubleshooting / Info / Misc
FaQ
[Q] After updating via OTA, I can no longer boot into CWM or TWRP recovery! Stock recovery always boots up! What do I do??
[A]
This is actually a very simple fix!
Using your root capable file explorer, browse to and delete or rename the following two files:
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Now, reinstall TWRP or CWM (I suggest using Goo or Rom Manager to do this)
Reboot recovery to verify the correct one is installed and working!
[Q] Why does flashing the OTA install these files that prevent me from using a custom recovery?
[A]
Simply put, this is how recovery is updated as part of the OTA. Because recovery is in use during the OTA update, it cannot be updated at the same time as everything else. So the OTA copies these two files to be run at boot time. During boot, the install-recovery.sh script is run which will reinstall the stock recovery, it then will use the second file, recovery-from-boot.p to patch the recovery, updating it to the OTA's target version.
More to come of course!!!
Because you never know!
Question.... I did the cw update of LJ4 is there a difference betwren that and the one thay says "firmware" for odon?

Click to collapse
They are different in how they are used, but they both will end with the same result.
The firmware which is meant to be flashed with Odin is basically the complete, full GS3 system. Odin will take the firmware and overwrite your current partitions, leaving you with a freshly installed stock system. The stock fw does not overwrite user data.
The OTA is a much smaller package meant to be flashed in stock recovery. Unlike the fw mentioned above, the OTA does not overwrite your system files. Instead it patches the currently installed files to update them to the intended build. The stock OTAs do not overwrite system data.
So in a nutshell, they use very different methods to update your system to the intended build. But the end result is the same regardless of which you choose. There are benefits to each, which I will go into later.
Glad you guys like the thread!

Will flashing a stock FW in recovery affect root? I know the full Odin install will and I am assuming the recovery flash will too.
Yes you will lose root flashing either one using the intended methods. However, there are a few ways to maintain root and you can still reroot using any of the original methods.
Quick rundown:
My oreferred method of updating is Mobile Odin Pro version. It will inject root during flash.
Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper can preserve root when updating via the OTA method. (Do not wipe data until you reboot and reactivate root or it won't work)
CWM recovery I think can also keep you rooted during an OTA update. I need to verify this though. I do know it will allow you to keep your recovery which would allow you to easily reroot if need be.
TWRP will flash the OTA but I don't think it will preserve root or recovery. Still need to verify with latest version.
The only other method of keeping root using Odin and the full fw is to use MrRobinsons root66 versions. I will add links to his thread later for ease of use.
I am planning to add much more detail about these soon.

Woke up to an OTA Ray to be installed. Bought SuperSU Pro so I could keep root after OTA. Ran the update. Everything looked like it went smoothly until reboot and I got this message...
So I checked what load it was now because it said it failed but it was the correct load UVLJ4. Should everything be good to go? What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance.
EDIT: fixed the problem with Root66. Had trouble with flashing CWM but I'm good to go now. Thanks everyone for being such an awesome source of information! Top notch guys in here.

Greetings, I grabbed the Root66 T999_UVALJ4 and used ODIN to flash the update.
All went well but I noticed that some of the stock apps that were installed with the update I cannot seem to find to delete. Apps like Google+ & Messenger, Google Play Books/Movies/TV, & S Suggest.
I usually use Root Explorer to delete unwanted apps but I can't seem to find these apps under SYSTEM/APP folder.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise everything went better than expected.
EDIT - FasterFix does not work anymore but oh well.

Google+ is PlusOne.apk
S Suggest is SSuggest.apk
G+ Messenger is built into Google+, they should both be gone when you remove it.
Play Store Books/TV/Video is built into the Play Store.
You will need to remove the ones you find in /system/app, but also any that have updated will be in /data/app. You need to remove from both locations. Play Store will automatically update again, so unless you completely remove the PhoneSky.apk, you cant get rid of it.

Care to elaborate?????
Ok, I have been out of the loop for a while, since first getting the SIII. I downloaded the pre-rooted firmware, and loaded it successfully via Odin. However, the phone is still prompting me to download the OTA update, which fails of course, because I am using CWM. Do I need to download the OTA from this thread as well? Will that work with CWM?
Yup. Itll work with cwm if you download and flash manually. Or you cam odin the root66 version of the updated fw.
@all
Sorry I havent got more detailed instructions up yet. Ive got some of it started and should be able to get some stuff posted later tonight.

Right. I loaded the firmware with Odin, and it worked (shows the update in 'About'), but it is still prompting me to install the OTA update. Is this correct?
Which version did you use? UVALJ4 is the latest build. If you flashed that you shouldnt be getting an update let it run and itll fail. Then you should be good to go.
If you flashed UVALEM or UVALH2 then yes you would get an update notice.

I loaded 'UVALJ4.' Ok, I let it try and fail, and now it is gone. Thank you.
I Have a i9192 and I having a problem with baseband, I have been use CM12 and after an update I start to get "unknown baseband", I change to Pac-man and it stop, but I day using the problem start again, I change de modem and the problem stop but a day using and it start again, I flahs samsung firmware and the problem has solved, I try to use Ressurrection Remix and a day and half the same problem again, I come back to CM12 and it happens, so, just with custom roms I get that problem, and now I have it again using CM12, any tip of how to solve it don't flash every time a stock firmware?
My wifi signal is ok, no problem with that.
In the second picture, that error occurs if I try to enter in the Status
What version of stock firmware did u flash? Is it kitkat or jellybean.
Also what recovery do you use?
I recommend TWRP as it has an option to backup modem. So you can restore modem part of the backup when cm12 or any custom rom says
"unknown baseband"

I downloaded that two there, but I have installed the first (TTT) and both are a KNOX free version posted by SilviuMik, I update it from samsung and after that I flashed Ressurrection Remix (5.0.2), I'm using CWM 6.0.5.0 and Philz Touch 6.
Exist the possibility of any app that I downloaded from appstore doing this?

You are on the old bootloader with jellybean system. Try to update to latest stock kitkat. If your phone has no warranty now then no need to fear knox.
Also @SilviuMik please help @flipeicl . I think there is a way to update to stock kitkat without bootloader. Try that.

I have installed the 4.2.2 but updated to 4.4.2 via "samsung update", today I tried one more time to clean the custom rom to install a stock firmware, I entered in the CWM, I did a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, but Odin don't recognize my phone via USB in donwload mode, so I tried to restart the phone and install the USB driver, so for my surprise, the phone get a CM12 instalation (I don't know how), and now everything is working with modem i9192UBUCOB1, I will do more tests in these days.

There is no such a thing like locked bootloader, you can only trip knox, but I believe it's out of the warranty. Update bootloader and modem with Odin, flash newest TWRP for N7100 and flash your ROM, 10 min and you good to go. Backup everything - nandroid, efs, data and then play with custom ROMs.
Read sticky guides and check everything 2 times before doing some changes

Yes, It's out of warranty + Knox- 0x1..
Can you guide me with this stuff "Update bootloader and modem with Odin"..? Please, if you are free..
I think i can do the next part "flash newest TWRP for N7100 " by installing DrKetan_MultiTool_AromaV11.zip in custom recovery..
There is an option to Flash TWRP..
Sorry if i asked/did something dumb and for my bad english too..
Download firmware from sammobile for your device i.e. N7100.
Install 7zip to extract it and copy SBOOT. and modem, then use 7zip again and pack (*.tar) those files separately, so you will have sboot.tar and modem.tar
sboot is the bootloader and modem is...modem.
Use Odin to flash modem and bootloader in download mode, then use also Odin to flash TWRP.
Then go to recovery mode and install your ROM using instructions in ROM thread (1st post).
You have to know that stock ROMs are identified by letters and numbers, the newest is probably OE1, I used bootloader and modem from French ROM.
