Fairly new at this so please go easy...
I recently attempted to update to J.B. 4.3 on my SGH i747. loserskater thread I believe. Okay so I unrooted and was gonna go to knox just for the hell of it because I don't really want any older roms anyways(wasn't planning to flash a new rom anyways)... Well easily got thru 4.1.2 and when I went to install 4.3 flashed the bootloader and modem, but when I went to flash the 4.3 rom it gives me .md5 checksum mismatch. I've screwed around with my phone and only have one nandroid backup from like a month ago. Here's the catch, I believe I enabled QuickCharge thru a root program so I can't data transfer. My wifi won't work, or my camera, and it will only charge thru certain wall chargers. Here's some phone info:
android version:4.1.2
ap: i747mlvdmf1
cp: i747ucuembjb
csc: i747attdmg2
kernel version: 3.0.31-274808

Build no: jzo54K.i747zVLDMF1_v2.1
TWRP Recovery
I've had md5 checksum problems ever since I flashed cwm11 and then removed it about a month ago... sometimes it would tell me in stock recovery that the file I was flashing was d2att and my phone was d2spr. I fixed the build.info on that when it was rooted but it didn't fix anything.
ANY ADVICE AT ALL IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

Good thing i was able to go to recovery mode and just factory reset. my phone rebooted normally.
Hi.
(First I would like you to bear with me since I am new to this. The more I read on this topic the more questions popped up.)
So here it is:
I need to MANUALLY update from stock firmware:
Model: GT-N7100
Country: Baltic
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: N/A
Build date: Mon, 04 Feb 2013 09:47:52 KST
Product Code: SEB
PDA: N7100XXDMB2
CSC: N7100SEBDMA1
MODEM: N7100XXDLK7
Kernel 3.0.31-679347 [email protected]#1 SMP Preempt Mon Feb 4 09:47:52 KST 2013
To stock firmware:
Model: GT-N7100
Country: Greece
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: 1071214
Build date: Fri, 31 May 2013 02:18:10 +0000
Product Code: EUR
PDA: N7100XXDME6
CSC: N7100OXXDMF1
MODEM: N7100XXDMF1
Downloaded the file from Sammobile. 1.1gb in zip format.
Prerequisites:
1. Binary count does not increase.
2. Be able to do future updates through OTA / Kies.
From what I read it is done through Odin but some say that it will increase binary count and then I have to flash stock kernel, wipe cache etc...
I have no idea what that is.
Will you please guide me step by step on this or post some links to follow.
Thanks
P.S. The device is never used, so there is nothing to backup.
Stock rom flashing doesn't raise counter.
You need not to worry and just flash straight way.
Downgrading can cause problem (corrupt imei) and needs backup, you are upgrading and so have no issue.
For detail guide you can find all in one N7100 on my signature and read installation instructions at end of first post.
If your device is non rooted then there won't have issue in update. But remember you will get updates of country depending on rom you going to have. Not from country you are living (if both are different)

Thanks Doc
So after this, the device will be able to do future updates through OTA / Kies.
AND
this stuff "...then I have to flash stock kernel, do factory reset through recovery mode, wipe cache etc..."
is rubbish?
No need to flash any extra stuff, stock rom do have everything inside package. And all components kernel, modem, recovery, bootloader, cache, and system also will update by simply flashing a rom.
Yeah sometimes you may get stuck at samsung logo or may device get bootloop after flashing a rom. At that time you needs wipe cache and wipe data (factory reset) from recovery. But this can happen with kies too. So i recommend to make backup of your important data before any kind of flashing.
Yes you will get update on kies and ota.

Ok.
I have successfully flashed the update via odin and *#1234# confirmed the values given above.
(Before I continue I just want to verify that the above procedure will KEEP settings and apps downloaded up to before the application of the above. Y/N)
However,
Going into recovery mode, I get the following (in yellow beside the droid icon):
#MANUAL MODE#
--APPLYING MULTI CSC--
APPLIED THE CSC-CODE: SEB
SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED MULTI-CSC
note that SEB was the CSC before the update.
How can I get rid of this? (Did factory reset and wipe cashe through recovery).
Furthermore, Kies (OTA too?) concerns are raised reading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186410
P.S This device has a hard time get an IP off my router, the first time I had to power off / on the router in order to connect, and now (after the flash) is not connecting again. I have 3 other android devices connecting to the same router no problem. (DHCP range is sufficient for all, even though they are hardly connected all simultaneously)
Help please..........
I just connected it to kies, it says this is the latest firmware but it lists BTU for CSC!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go figure
I may have just figured out my problem with signal but I want to run it by you masterminds first... Looking in the cyanide about phone exta info I see I am using bootloader T999LUVAMB7 and I flashed the NC1 modem a few days ago and ever since had poor reception... I'm thinking its cuz the bootloader doesn't match the modem... now there is OFW AMB7 , BMK4, BNC1, and BNF4 all in order of release date NF4 being the latest aug 2014. now since my bootloader is the oldest version and my modem is the 3rd update of 4 possible... should I Flash the complete BNF4 OFW and MODEM to update my bootloader and baseband modem to the latest and then flash Custom recovery / root / flash Cyanide L 5.0 (kernals gapps all that) ??? and if so should I backup or store anything on the way so that I can revert back if needed?? what would be the smartest play here? I don't want to brick my phone. I had originally upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.4 and cyanogenmod then went to cyanide lolipop ver 5.0.2 I dunno if this makes any difference or if all that matters is my current bootloader and basebands.. but I know the secure bootloader worries me so I don't know what to do exactly. I am fairly new to this still...
Thanks guys!!!
You'll need to flash the bootloader & modem together, if you're on NC1 baseband you should flash the NC1 bootloader & modem.zip so they match, however I'm not exactly sure about skipping versions, I've heard that you should do it incrementally not skipping versions, when I updated mine (d2att) I didn't skip. You're lucky as heck you didn't brick it already, now that you've skipped & are on NC1 baseband and the phone still works I (THINK) you'll be OK to flash the NC1 bootloader & modem.zip while on cyanide. Do it at your own risk, I'm just trying to help, look into it & search, talk to others as well & be sure!! Good luck, hope you get it going!
If you take full NC1 = Locked
Is that correct? I kept a early bootloader and get update-binary erros in cwm. My flashes have continued just fine thru to Carbon KitKat (TWRP/CWM/Pref - Philz Touch). The Modem is the Safest Thing I flash.!. The last time I took the latest firmware BEFORE 4.3 And Flashed it in Odin. I have a frantic mind. I anticipte some issues with kernel and "drivers" on Lollipop. Just what worked for me.
I know there are KNOX Free images, but I have not flashed those with Odin. Ufvthey say bootloader is unlocked or left out I might try one of those first. I am Probably being paranoid, but in my head it made safer sense.
Hello All,
I hope every now and then someone still browses through this forum as I understand this phone has become obsolete.
Maybe I'm the only person who still uses the S3 (T mobile - T999UVDMD5). I recently noticed that my android version is outdated (I'm running a 4.1.2) and thus expose me to the stagefright vulnerability. Online check reveals the latest update is 4.3.3 so I hope I can upgrade to the latest firmware for the phone. However, my phone is rooted and I'm not sure if there is a easier way to "flash" the rooted version into my phone or Ill have to unroot first.
I really suck at all these technology stuff, but I'm pretty good at following step by step directions. Do I have to unroot first? How do I unroot? just use that triangle program? would I lose everything? If someone can be kind enough to help me walk through the easiest process I can do to get the rooted 4.3.3, I'd be forever grateful. I did my internet search but still have uncertainties so I'm trying to careful because I'm scared I might accidentally brick my phone, then I will be in a world of pain. lol
Thank you guys for the help! Loves the website and the friendly community here!! Please see below for more detailed information of the phone.

How did you originally root the phone?
If you have a custom recovery and root, you'll need to remove root and restore stock recovery in order to receive OTA updates. If you're not familiar with the process, the simplest method would be to back up all of your data and re-flash your current ROM with the stock ROM from sammobile.com using Odin. Alternatively, you could flash straight to the latest firmware from sammobile.com.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999/
I think the original root method was I flashed something with Odin.
So all I have to do is download the latest firmware from smmobile, flash that directly with Odin (without removing root or other procedures), do an OTA update, then find one of the king root stuff to automatically root the new firmware?
Thanks for all the help!
Yes, download the stock firmware from sammobile.com, unzip the file to generate a tar.md5 file, then flash the file using Odin. I prefer Odin version 3.07.
Open Odin, insert the tar.md5 file in the PDA box, uncheck everything except f.reset time and auto reboot, connect phone in download mode, and flash.
After upgrading to the latest OTA update, you can flash twrp for the d2tmo using Odin which will replace the stock recovery with TWRP. From TWRP, you can flash supersu.zip to get root access.
Just FYI, sammobile gives pretty slow downloads. It's one of the main reasons I started the firmware thread to begin with. Check the firmware thread stickied in the development section if you want what is usually a much quicker download. Plus there will be a lot if information there that may answer any questionsyou might have.
Also, if you want to re-root, towelroot is the easiest way by far. I posted a thread in this section with links and info. It's probably on the first couple of pages.
Good luck!

There is no such a thing like locked bootloader, you can only trip knox, but I believe it's out of the warranty. Update bootloader and modem with Odin, flash newest TWRP for N7100 and flash your ROM, 10 min and you good to go. Backup everything - nandroid, efs, data and then play with custom ROMs.
Read sticky guides and check everything 2 times before doing some changes

Yes, It's out of warranty + Knox- 0x1..
Can you guide me with this stuff "Update bootloader and modem with Odin"..? Please, if you are free..
I think i can do the next part "flash newest TWRP for N7100 " by installing DrKetan_MultiTool_AromaV11.zip in custom recovery..
There is an option to Flash TWRP..
Sorry if i asked/did something dumb and for my bad english too..
Download firmware from sammobile for your device i.e. N7100.
Install 7zip to extract it and copy SBOOT. and modem, then use 7zip again and pack (*.tar) those files separately, so you will have sboot.tar and modem.tar
sboot is the bootloader and modem is...modem.
Use Odin to flash modem and bootloader in download mode, then use also Odin to flash TWRP.
Then go to recovery mode and install your ROM using instructions in ROM thread (1st post).
You have to know that stock ROMs are identified by letters and numbers, the newest is probably OE1, I used bootloader and modem from French ROM.
