A quick favor... - Windows RT General

I attached a screenshot of the issue that I am having, and per ASUS tech support they have never seen this issue. My question is, the key the that it "shows" that I have is only 10 characters long, whereas it should be 25. Is that normal for it to just show 10, or is that my problem? FYI ASUS has me sending back the tablet, which I do plan on doing.
Its and ASUS Vivotab RT btw

I'm pretty sure that that's simply how it's choosing to display it there... but that doesn't explain why it's not accepting it as a valid key for activation. Isn't Windows RT supposed to come pre-activated? I believe that my Surface RT did. Is the VivoTab RT different? Does ASUS give you instructions to activate and the key to do it with?
I would follow the instructions here to get your product key and input it into that screen that you screenshot. Maybe it'll accept it then.
If that doesn't work, then maybe there's something that you forgot to tell us... like you re-installed Windows RT, performed a recovery, tried to change product keys or something like that. Unless you clarify, we have to assume that you just unboxed a new VivoTab and this is what greeted you.

thanks for the help, I just tried that, got my key and get the attached error. Sorry for the lack of info, figured this couldn't be fixed anyway. I purchased this off eBay as a manufacturer refurb, from a reputable dealer(ASUS verified this when I called them btw) and yes, this is how it was out of the box. It lets me update, ran through all the updates to see it that may help and no change. I have tried resetting twice and 1 refresh. Maybe it's just Microsofts way of punishing ASUS for abandoning RT? haha

Oh, and just for fun I am going to try and work with the ASUS recovery that someone posted(currently downloading on my POS internet).

Yeah, since the key is "blocked," sending it into ASUS is the only thing that you can do, I think. It would seem to be their fault, after all, since a manufacturer refurb obviously shouldn't have this problem. So, yeah, better luck with the replacement. EDIT: BTW, I don't think that the recovery image will do you any good, because you'll still need your own key to activate it, and yours is "blocked."

Stock Rom/Recovery Tool?

Is there any thing available for this phone yet? I went a a little to crazy with removing apps.

If you go to LG's website - the support section - and search for the phone, they have a mobile support tool that is supposed to be able to reflash the phone back to the stock image. For some reason I have not been able to download the app to test it out though??? Please let me know if you have had any luck with it.
i tried the "lg software updater" a week ago,
it said "this model is not S/W update"
WTF!
no wonder no developers want to touch this phone, once you screwed, you screwed! there is no way of going back! unless lg wake up and put recovery rom on that software!
There is a software updater and a support tool. For what you need, the support tool is what you need. Search for LG p930 support tool and you should be able to.find it... If I can actually download it I will see if it works and let you know.
I was trying to find info as well. My phone for some reason just went to a blank screen. Pull down works but no buttons. Tried hard rest and same thing. This is my 2nd nitro, 1st lost some settings in the display settings menu and now this. Might be time to just get the sgs2. I was trying to avoid the low res display but might be better with Samsung quality.

So the support tool is what we need to reimage the phone... Unluckily the support tool doesn't have our phone in it yet? Go figure... I emailed LG to see if they could tell me when they would have a recovery image for our phone. Hopefully they will have a suitable answer for us - I will keep everyone posted...
did u try the "volume down" and "power" button combo to see if it still goes to recovery or did u remove/format it aswell ?
Talked with LG support and there will be no recovery image coming from them per carrier request. The only way to get the phone re-imaged would be to ship it to their repair center in Fort Worth Tx... The agent did say that the phone would be updated to ice cream sandwich, just didn't have any dates that he could give me - understandable though annoying.
So we will just have to figure it out ourselves... I am probably going to see if I can re-create the recovery.img with a couple changes to the init.rc to see if I can get recovery to actually work.

Since we have download mode now, I wonder if Odin will work like for the galaxy phones.
I was wondering about that too... The problem is who is the firs guinea pig who may have a bricked phone? Does anyone have friends at their local AT&T store to insure an easy replacement?
not sure about At&T but with Bell mobility, if your phone doesnt boot up after purchashing, you have 30 days from the time of the activation to get over the counter replacement. no delays.

[Q] New Nokia Lumia 900 Continually Crashes When WiFi is On

Hi there
Wondering if any of you kind folks can help me understand what is happening on my phone.
I've a new Nokia Lumia 900 which I've had for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately (rather fortunately!) I won it at a Microsoft event, so I can't exactly take it back to a retailer for repair or question.
My phone seems to intermittently crash. Most times it just reboots but occasionally it's just dead and I have hold down the power button to reset. Anecdotally it seems to happen most when I have WiFi turned on, though it does happen occasionally without WiFi on.
I have reset back to factory setting twice and also turned off all background process I can. Of course there are still a few applications that I can't turn off from running in the background.
Despite this, the phone still crashes A LOT with WiFi on (2 to 6 times a day) and occasionally with WiFi off (once every 2 or three days).
Does anyone know what is happening and how I can find a fix?
PS: Both the phone and Zune report that there are no updates applicable.
Cheers.
Look in settings/about and take note of the Firmware and OS versions and kindly write them down on here, If you have OS ver 8862 then you already have the latest version and need to take your phone to a Nokia Care centre or send for repair as it should not crash at all, If you have a lower ver ie: 8107, 8773 or 8858 then maybe you can force an update through Zune, Which may well fix your issue?
Tried that...

Thanks for your reply Andy
I did exactly that, checked the OS version, and I discovered that I did NOT have the latest OS version but Zune reported I did.
As a result I contacted Nokia to explain the difference in OS version availability published on the Australian support site vs the fact that Zune reports the OS version is up to date. I was told that not all OS versions are available across all Lumia 900 phones and regions! Er... Whatever...
However, the support staff did recognise I'm having an issue and has lodged a ticket with the "appropriate department". Time will tell how response they are.
I guess I either have to wait for the OS update to be made available to have their support technicians contact me back to resolve the issue.
Either way I will update this thread with the results in case anyone else has a similar issue.
Fingers crossed they get it sorted for you,
However if you do decide to be cheeky there is a way of forcing the update via Zune, As you click update and before it tells you you already have the latest firmware etc you disconnect your lan cable, It is a bit tricky and timing is the key, You may have to try several times etc,
Or as a last resort http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128295
In either case I cannot guarantee it will fix your issue but it could save you from boredom as you await a fix.

Ha! Yes.... Well I've not heard anything from them yet. Day 2 so I'm not quite bored yet
However, on a positive note the updates came through tonight via Zune without pulling of LAN cables (ED: read hair), so all's good on that front. Time will tell if the updates solve the problem, but it did 3 cumulative updates so I guess there was a bit to do...
Thanks Andy

Fingerprint imprint setting

I don’t see this setting on my device. Any assistance would be appreciated where to find it or what needs to be done to get it.

Isn't it under Security and Location in the settings menu?

Search works really well in the Settings menu. Type fingerprint and I bet you that you'll find it.
Nope, nothing under security and nothing when I searched. Must of got a lemon.

Oh that's definitely weird!!! I'd call google, or fastboot the factory image again if your bootloader unlocked
Googled it, not a common occurrence but it has happened on some Pixel smartphones. Recourse is return it and try another sine it is still in that window.
If not, it would have to be sent to google. They either fix it or send you a new device.

Did you try a factory reset? You would hate to send back and the problem is fixed but you get a new hardware issue on the replacement device.
Did it not allow you to set your fingerprint during the initial start setup?
Factory reset three times, did not help. It did not give me an option at startup to use fingerprint, only pin or password etc.
Anyone having this issue don’t beat yourself up trying to resolve. Return the Pixel and get a replacement. Next one I got after exchange was fine.

Your Phone Connection - Link To Windows

I'm getting crazy here.
I'm setting up my Note 10 Plus to Link to Windows and I follow the guide.
I am stuck on my phone where it says something like: Check your pc - We're checking something on your pc before asking for a final permission".
I have tried anything - Please help mere here.

I think Microsoft is having an issue with the desktop client at the moment. I used this last week without any issues, but it won't sync today. Looks like from the reviews of the desktop client on Microsoft store that this is not an isolated issue. I'd say be patient and wait until they push a bug update.

Same here, UK Note 10+ 5G.
It may just be that Samsung has neglected to push out some needed files, happens sometimes, such as last year with Linux on DeX.
Anyone running this already, please feel free to jump in.
Dumb question but did you try rebooting the computer

Nubia 5G refusing pattern lock and company cannot provide support as I am in the USA

I decided to set a new pattern lock for my Redmagic 5G last Saturday night and when I woke up the following morning I can't seem to remember the new pattern (Alcohol was a factor).
I have hard reset the phone but the pattern did not go away. I contacted the company and provided them with pictures, IMEI number and receipt for the phone and they simply said that they cannot provide technical support for me because I am in a country where they have been embargoed by (U.S.A.).
What to do? Please HELP ME!

Not sure if you were able to solve your problem...but it seems like there are certain software you can download for windows to help open phones when you have lost or forgotten your pins or patterns. stuff like 4ukey on android. may be worth a shot to look into. I've never personally tried any myself but sounds like you might have to try something in that area to help you out. hope you find something.

Hi,
Thanks. I did try the 4ukey, it does not work. They basically have created a UI that just gives you the hard reset steps that I already knew and had done. It is not some magical trick to rid the phone of FRP LOCK. I honestly think they are a rip off.
