[Q] Bluetooth fail when Wifi working - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi, im new here.
I bought a Wireless keyboard (PS3 official) (because logitech unifying via OTG doesnt seems to work), is working fine on Nexus 7 2013 (stock rom, non rooted, JSS15R) when Wifi is disabled or even when wifi on standy, however, just 5 seconds of Tune in streaming and bluetooth gets disabled, keyboard super laggy, etc.
Im not quite sure if is a hardware fail, seems to be a concrete problem with 2013 version when wifi is NOT set to a 5GHZ antenna mode
I made a quick search on internet about this issue and found some threads but i was wondering if you guys here have another or better solution.

Anyone have tried a bluetooth keyboard on 2,4ghz wifi without problems ?

there's a keyboard fix app that fix the issue, try search "bluetooth keyboard bug fix"

[Q] Bluetooth GPS Receiver?

Hi All, I just had a question about bluetooth gps receivers.
I read awhile back that the Android OS's bluetooth stack was not equipped to handle serial port protocol connections over bluetooth which is what you need for a external bluetooth gps receiver. Just wondering if any of the new ROMs (2.1 or 2.2) have looked into implementing this? or if there's already an app out there.
i've looked and seems all the apps i found on market seem to be just data logging and doesn't allow you to replace the internal gps functionality.
this is a pretty good question. I have not seen anything about this mentioned on any rom. I would lean towards no but since i dont know for sure i figured i would help bump the thread hoping someone who knows for sure can shed some light
Seems to be working now -- my Samsung Galaxy S (running 2.1) can use my external Bluetooth GPS receiver now (not natively, but using a app called 'Bluetooth GPS Mouse')
okay, the app 'bluetooth gps mouse' doesn't seem to work. keeps saying i'm in china somewhere.
i actually found another program called 'Bluetooth gps provider' that works pretty good, except for google nav...
I informed them about the bug and today they released an update, so Bluetooth GPS Mouse should work now as well

[Q] Connecting GN to Mercedes Comand system

Hi
Guys I have a 2011 C Class with the Comand system in it. It has internet access which you use using the WAP on your phone once it is connected via Bluetooth to the Comand system. It worked fine with my Galaxy S but now that I have the GN it wont access. Does anyone know why or does anyone know how to fix this.
Are you sure it uses wap and not Bluetooth? Even if you're right and it does use wap, it may be worth checking if there's an option to use Bluetooth and to see if that works. With Bluetooth you'd of course need to pair the car's bt with your phone's.

Hi thanks for your reply according to manual these are the conditions that are necessary for connection.
"the mobile phone supports DUN Bluetooth profile(Dial-Up Networking)and is connected to COMAND via the Bluetooth interface. The DUN Bluetooth enables the mobile phone to establish a dial-up connection to the Internet"
As I said my Galaxy S connected to it fine and enabled the internet connection on the COMAND system.
The only thing I can suggest is that you ensure that your phone's Bluetooth is paired with your car's. If you've already confirmed that it is then then the only other thing that comes to mind is to perhaps try using your phone as mobile hotspot over Bluetooth.
Did you set it up yourself with your other phone or was it set up for you when you bought the car?

Lauk75, I'm sorry but neither of your posts made technological sense. WAP is a protocol by which mobile devices access the internet. Bluetooth is a radio device allowing 2 devices to exchange information, ie audio via a headset or a card between 2 phones.
Onto the problem. Is the comand unit trying to use the SAP protocol? I know androids support of this is fairly limited? Are there any other settings in the head unit you can change? If you tell me if its comand 50,20,10 etc I'll look at the manual for you.

Ah, I wrongly assumed that the problem was with trying to play music from the phone. I see now that it is all about accessing the Internet. My mistake.
Having said that, there is a Bluetooth tethering option on the galaxy nexus, the description of which suggests it is for sharing the phone's Internet connection in a similar way as you would do in normal tethering. That was my second suggestion in my second post above . Perhaps it is worth a try, perhaps not.

thanks for your reply. All I can say about the comand system is that its called COMAND ONLINE. No model number. Its a brand new system that's in the new C Class. As I said my Galaxy S connects the internet to it no prob. It must be to do with ICS maybe. Tried the Bluetooth Tethering mentioned by LAUK 75 (thanks for your reply) but still no luck.
Then I would gather that its an issue with the Bluetooth stack on ics. If your rooted u may want to try a 4.0.3 rom and see if that fixes the issue. Other than that I think ur out of luck. I've not looked but are there any Bluetooth apps in the market, as they may use their own stack/ driver for Bluetooth. (Worth a shot)

On looking, there are two apps in the market which add Bluetooth PAN functions. They may be worth a shot. Search for Bluetooth pan in the market.

Also try an app called PDAnet, which enables Bluetooth DUN profile.

Guys thanks. Tried PDANET but it doesnt load on ICS. Tried Nook Colour tether doesnt work either.
Guys
Can anyone, please have a look at this Thread again. I have still noit been able to use the internet on my mercedes when my Galaxy Nexus is connected to it. I think it's something to do with the Bluetooth settings within ICS.

PDANet for Android seems to be working fine. Make sure you have GPU acceleration turned off in developer settings. In order to access Bluetooth DUN Mode you need to install FoxFi

Hi anton2009, thanks for your response. When I use PDAnet 3.50 and select Bluetooth DUN mode it takes me to Foxfi I then select Activate Bluetooth DUN and it says fail to Activate. Internet not detected.
Hmm... well I thought you would be able to do it without having the PC PDANet component, but apparently you do...? So this would make this quite useless... I guess the only thingI can think of would be the bluetooth tethering option in Wireless Networks, but you already stated that does not work. Sorry.
Guys eventually solved this. An App called Blue Dun available through Google Play has fixed this problem. See line 101

I have just spoken with the developer of the app and their is an updated version coming out this week, the new version will be compatible also for Toyota Touch&Go navi, Tom Tom nav. , Clever GPS and BB Playbook.

Bluetooth is kind of buggy on the Note IMHO (I have the Wi-Fi model). Regularly I have to restart Bluetooth (toggle off than on) to get things to connect or scanning to work.

[Q] 4.3 Bluetooth Keyboard

Is anyone else having issues with their bluetooth keyboard when paired with the Nexus 7? I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard and it repeats characters, and inserts the spaces out of order.
(Yes I'm aware of External Keyboard Helper, and it does help but it makes my typing laggy)

I can't even get to pair with my Motorola 89451N. I am guessing it's firing off random characters during the pairing security process.
These are exactly the type of issues I was hoping to avoid with a Nexus device. Google needs to up their QA

I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard with the same issues. My Bluetooth mouse is fairly unless as well.
Here's hoping it gets straightened out soon...

There is a bug filed with Google which might be relevant, but it doesn't give much hope of quick resolution because it has been open for about a year.
My Logitech keyboard works well with my (non-Nexus) phone with CM10, but a different build of the ROM with a newer kernel has issues.
I've renamed the keyboard file, and I still have issues with characters repeating and lag. I think the issue might be the Bluetooth connection being flaky.
The lag is most noticeable in SSH apps
EDIT: I traced this problem to an issue with WiFi+Bluetooth. When I tether to my phone and turn WiFi off, my keyboard acts as it should. I'm not happy with this workaround, but at least I can get some work done.

maybe try finding a keyboard ime and enabling it so it profiles the keyboard input.

Verified. I stopped using my Apple Keyboard with my N7 for this reason. It worked perfectly with the previous gen N7 (2012).
Thank God CM 10.1 added support on the Nook HD+ last week! Yay for CyanogenMod!!
Ironically, my crappy knockoff Chinese BT keyboards work perfectly. It's the exact same as the Saxony Bluetooth Keyboard on Amazon, but I bought it off the boat from China.
My Microsoft Mouse 5000 is also very sketchy with BT on the N7. Again, works perfectly on Nook CynogenMod, and previous N7 (2012).

I have the same problem with my Logitech bluetooth keyboard. It works fine until I turn on wifi, after which is starts disconnecting and reconnecing every few seconds. It's completely unusable. Didn't have this problem with the same keyboard on my Nexus 10 or Nexus 7 (2012).
Typing this on my HP Touchpad Keyboard. No disconnects or erratic key behavior here. Some of the function keys don't work as expected, but volume up/down, media keys, and power key works just fine in additon to the normal array of keys. Running CM10.2 unofficial nightly 8/12 and elementalX 0.9 kernel. Had stock for like 3 hours so i didn't get a chance to try the keyboard out with that.

So I called Google support (24 hour line) and spoke to them about the keyboard issue
(I too have an apple bt keyboard)
from my understanding of what they told me, bluetooth 2.0 (which many keyboards run on) is running at about 2.385Ghz band while the 2.4Ghz wifi band is there very near it. In fact, it is near enough that it will interfere with the polling.
I asked why it doesnt happen with my SGS4 SGH-I337 (aka AT&T version) and they told me it is because it (the SGS4) is running a Qualcom processor, whereas the N7 (Flo) is running a Snapdragon processor.
Last i heard of the Snapdragon processors, they were integrating Bluetooth and Wifi onto the same processing chip which would make sense as to why we have the bluetooth lag.
The rep advised me to try out and/or get a bluetooth 3.0 or higher keyboard saying that should alleviate the problem. This would make sense as to why some people are having this issue while others are not (such as the logitech K810 keyboard)
Just my 2 pennies
I'm using Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard (BT) with External Keyboard Helper Pro and I don't have any problem.
I'm using the wedge as well. No problems at all.

This is one annoying problem. Have tried all the BT keyboards I have and they all have the repeating char issue.
Same keyboards were all working on my N10 previously on CM10.1 (aka 4.2.2). Have not tried it since updating to CM10.2 since my daily driver is now the 2013 N7. I'm going to try this and see if it is an issue with 4.3 or something specific to 2013 N7.
I have to say it's been so nice taking the BT keyboard for granted. Having to type on the virtual keyboard onscreen is such a pain.

Works (mac alu kb, german layout + nexus7 lte, original untouched rom JLS36C) in any combination of BT, Wifi or 3G without issues here.

I even type this post in the n7's chrome browser right now :victory:
Hi:
My Perixx folding BT keyboard doesn't work with 4.3 period, not on the Nexus 7 2013 nor Nexus 7 2012. My friend is using it on his Nexus 7 2012 running 4.22, not yet upgrading to 4.3.
On 4.3 it pairs but the keyboard won't type anything, a paper-weight.
Tom
So it's quite likely this isn't fixable via software and the only way around it is either to replace the keyboard with a BT3.0 device OR upgrade your router to one which supports 5.0ghz wifi?
I have the same issue with everyone here.
My keyboard is Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard which using Bluetooth 3.0 technology but it no help

[SOLUTION] Fix for 4.3: unable to power on WiFi and/or Bluetooth

I update my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.3. Sometimes the WiFi goes off without reason and it was not possible to switch on WiFi or Bluetooth. I found that this was caused by two of my Bluetooth devices. I had to go outside out of range of Bluetooth devices and then switch Bluetooth on and then delete pairing I had in the phone (since previous Android 4.1.2 version). Hope it helps somebody as I'm not alone as I saw when digging through Internet forums.
BTW: WiFi & Bluetooth share the same chip, so it seems like a bug in Bluetooth kernel driver or library that manage Bluetooth connections. THERE IS NO NEED TO FLASH ANYTHING!
