Wireless tethering? - LG Optimus G Pro

I know on older cm I used to be able to change the channels my hotspot ran, any clue on how to enable advanced settings or something so I can enable it? I know there a line in buildprop that can be changed in order to enable the hidden network selection, by any chance is there something like that for hotspot advanced settings?

Wireless Tether working?

Wireless Tether from the market isn't working on my rooted phone. Messed with all sorts of settings, and neither my TouchPad or ThinkPad find the network (SSID).

Did you try go into Menu>Settings>and select Enable WiFi Encryption? That usual makes it discoverable for me....report back.

[Q] Settings file for the stock ICS Wifi Tether App?

Does anyone know where the Wifi settings are located? Maybe there is a way to disable authentication in that file if it exists.
Thanks!
Edit: Just to be clear on CDMA version it "Authenticates" with Verizon to make sure you are subscribed to their tethering plan before allowing you to use it. I am hoping to find a way to disable that authentication using either sqlite or some other method.

I meant some kind of hidden settings text file like a build.prop file.
After looking through with SQ_lite I found a 'preferred_cdma_subscription 1' setting but it cannot be changes because "Error 5-Database is locked" anyway around this?

The option for an open wifi hotspot is given to you in the menu (as provided by itsjusttim above). You don't need to modify anything.

[Guide] Defeat tether block *need root*

the things I used to get this to work are not mine. I give thanks to WarlockW for his guide to removing the locked and hidden apns.
I was hit with a message a while back saying t mobile has blocked my tethering. After doing a few things, I was able to get it to work on my phone again after being hit with the message of death.
Note: I'm using CM10 so if you cant get this working, try a non-stock rom
1. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962752 and go through the steps to remove the hidden apns and add his modified apn file to your phone.
2. You need to be able to use a vpn. If you want a free one, I'm using "Hotspot shield vpn" from the marketplace to enable my vpn with its settings, otherwise, go into system settings -> wireless and networks -> vpn. then go ahead and add your favorite vpn.
3. You need to download a tethering app from the marketplace. I'm using wifi tether for root users, the link for it is on our forums somewhere, just have to look for it.
if it works, I'm happy with just thanks, donate to your favorite developer
Hmmm usually with aosp based roms you just need to change user agents and use the native tethering to avoid the upsell page. Did you try that before doing all this?

Yes I did, I had the message saying they blocked my tethering and that wasn't working for me. Had to find another way to make it work. This works

Don't know what else to say. Haha. Uh do you have Setup-Method on auto and Enable Access-Control on? If you do, have you allowed the device to connect through Access-Control?

Try this:
device profile = generic ics/jb (wlan0)
setup method = netd-ndc (master)
wifi driver reload = checked
enable wifi encryption = unchecked (you can enable it later when it's working unencrypted)
enable access-control = unchecked (you can enable it later when the basics are working)
Now, when I first started with this app, my devices would connect to the AP but then give up because they couldn't get a dhcp address. I found that if I went into the 'change lan' menu and picked a different lan, that it started working (I currently use 10.10.3.0/24).
If you can't get it working, I came up with another method you may be able to use that does not use any app (I have the at&t model but it's probably the same). Basically you turn off wifi, then run a few commands (as root) that bring the wifi interface back up without disabling mobile data. It will connect to your local wireless lan as if you had enabled wifi. Then you can run a socks or http proxy and point your other device at it (easy if you're wanting to tether a pc, maybe not so easy if you're using something else). I haven't tried yet to see if it will route between the networks, which would mean you can just manually change your default gateway to your phone's wlan address and have all traffic go through it.

This worked for me but with some issues. When I start wifi tether the first time, everything works fine. But after I turn it off and then turn it on, tethering works, but I get the message that it started with errrors. On the show logs this is what I get "Loading wifi driver failed" and then after I turn it off, I cant activate wifi on the phone without reboot.
known issue. One wifi tether per reboot.

Oh, didnt know that. I was on ICS and just upgraded to JB yesterday. On ICS, it used to work perfectly for me. I guess this issue is mostly in JB.
Thanks for letting me know. I thought there was something wrong with my setup.

SGH-I317 Free WiFi Hotspot.

There Is a free App in the android market called Control Center by Hi Tools Studio. By activating the hotspot toggle it actually turns on the phone's native hotspot application. then you can go into the system settings and configure your mobile hotspot settings. Change the name add a password. I am on a rooted stock rom. The app does not request super user permission. It may also work for other phones.

The difference is that I don't have tethering on my mobile plan. When I try to activate tethering through my built-in android Hotspot settings I get greeted with a message saying "To enable hotspot on this device, go to att.com/wireless or dial 611" So Yes it has EXTRA MAGIC.
Still looking...
The 4.3 update has broken FoxFi. I am seeking a replacement that works to circumvent the checking of my plan to use a wifi hotspot. I don't want to root or flash a ROM. I've scoured tons of places to either fix FoxFi or get another app to no avail. If anyone knows of such, please share. Thanks!

Thanks budy its really work.
It’s pretty simple, you will need a rooted Verizon Note 2 and also use a modified Wifi Tether app.
Step 1. Download and install the modified Wifi Tether app:
Step 2. Run the Wifi Tether app and choose “Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)” for Device-Profile.
Step 3. Choose “Netd-Ndc (master)” for Setup Method.
Step 4. Make sure “Send Netd Max Client Cmd” is checked ON.
Step 5. And also make sure “Routing Fix” is checked ON.
Step 6. You can setup SSID and wifi encryption if you’d like. Once everything set up, simply start the Wifi Tether and try connecting to it from your computer or another wifi device.
it also work on other cell phone.
