Does it bother anyone else that the phone unlock so easily in their pockets?
I wish there is a to slide to unlock or turn up the unlock sensitivity without using a pass code or pattern.
Umm. There is a swipe to unlock.

I have never accidentally unlocked my phone, ever.
I think he means that the power button is easily touched with a big phone in the pocket, and also cotton from the inner pocket can unlock the touchscreen. It annoyed me also. But I now use a cheap thin plastic cover from ebay and that helps me with accidental touch of power button and protects my phone for damage at the same time.

Anybody know how to answer or text with gloves on I have a screen protector on mine and I think it may be causing it not to be recognized I've seen other android phones that work with gloves such as the optimus? Just wanted to know if there was a way to answer the phone since there is no call button.
R u serious?
I suggest u get an optimus or just man up & take your gloves off.
I've seen special gloves advertised that work for capacitive touchscreens. Whatever you're using to touch the screen needs to be able to conduct electricity (e.g. human skin).

that won't work unless you have it going through the glove will it? surely your finger needs to touch it still so it conducts.

I read somewhere that there are some stickies that you can put on your existing gloves and make them just like those special gloves

Haha that's funny most of the time I have a lot of stuff in my hands like keys, the steering wheel, shifter, groceries all that stuff.. so it's hard for me to take them off while holding these things and the phone only rings 4 times before it hits voicemail can you take your gloves off in a matter of 10 seconds and slide the phone so you can answer it?
actually if there was just a hard key we could hit to answer or decline if you hit the vol up or down it shuts off the ringer but the phone still rings so if we had say like the camera or the touchpad to answer it would work I can text with the keyboard.
ordered these: http://www.amazon.com/Agloves-scree...FI2M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291870482&sr=8-1
buy some conductive thread and sew a patch onto the inside of your glove finger.
Here's a guide on how to make your own for around $1 - $5.

Couldn't tell you how these work, but I just saw these the other day on GearLog.

I carry my One X in my pocket with its screen towards my leg, so that the screen is protected when I bump into something. The disadvantage of this is that I accidentally unlock the phone by accident a lot of times.
I could configure a the phone to ask for a PIN-code before unlocking, but under the numpad there is a button for making emergency calls and I don't want to 'pocket-call' 911 so I need another solution.
Anyone here who has a great suggestion? Would it be possible to remove the emergency call button? Or do you know of any other solutions to prevent the phone from unlocking itself?
Thanks in advance!
You could try face unlock

How does this happen..? The screen needs to turn on and the ring needs to be dragged.. what in your pocket drags the ring?

I use draw pattern, very simple and quick,

The screen should only unlock with your finger, I believe it works off the heat from your finger. But I've just used my t-shirt with finger inside to unlock so as its a thin material I guess the heat from finger tip is getting through. I guess the op could be wearing thin pants and the heat from his leg/thigh is unlocking it.
Maybe using a case where the power button is covered and so harder to depress is an answer.

I had the same problem with my old phone. Though I can't imagine how the power button on the HOX can be pressed by accident...
You could try using another lockscreen. With widgetlocker for example, it is harder to unlock the screen (if you disable widget actions). That could be a possible solution.
The WidgetLocker is the best choice foe your Problem

Absurdmind
I've actually called 911 twice with my HOX. I use a pattern, but I guess it slides the ring and hits the emergency called. Luckily I've known the dispatchers both times it has happened. Would be great if you could disable that feature.
quite simply put, a. buy deasent trousers or b. put the phone in your pocket with the unlock button at the top then it wont get pressed.
If your asking this on a forum you really shouldnt be allowed a phone. Try smoke signals.
I can sympathise with you, this used to happen with my HTC Desire a lot. It usually happened after I'd had a text message or something similar. I use the patterncode for my phone to help protect against accidental unlocks however as you say, hitting emergency call is all too easy to do (in the uk it's worse because our emergency number is 999).
What I could suggest for you, as well as using a pin/face/pattern unlock screen, is also to place the phone in a sock or pouch of some sort to increase the layer of material between the phone and your skin. That should help too, as well as trying several of the lockscreen apps out there.
Pouch
I agree I have a pouch and of cource this prevents your phone from unlocking. It also prevents much more damage, of cource you don't always need to use it but personally I try to as I have dropped my phone onto the stone floor in my kitchen, and not a scratch!
That fools that say it's impossible.... It happened to me many many times... but last two was bad...
My phone somehow reached pincode imput and made 3 mistakes in my pocked this locked my card and was waiting for puk code which i don't know and don't have... after that i was charged 2$ or more for creating new puk code so i can unlock my sim... When i unlocked my wallpaper and home screens were changed and deleted... So DONT USE PIN CODE for screen unlock on Htc One X because you will block your sim... Draw pattern is the perfect screen unlock...
I am Android Native Applications an Games Developer so i used many devices and this is the only one that m ade this to me....
I have a white s3 and the screen just insnt the same anymore it gets dirty really quick fingerprints, smudge marks and my sisters blue one is smooth and my finger just glides across it. I've had my s3 longer but I don't think it should matter. I've read threads about some coating wearing off and I'm not sure what it is. Would samsung or tmobile send a replacement if I tell them about this issue? Or what could I do and what could have caused this thanks
Thanks

Can't hurt to call them and ask :good:
If you do get a new one, I recommend getting a good screen protector so you don't have to worry about this again!
My phone was the same I'm a mechanic and get all kinds of chemicals on my hands and then my phone but at the end of the day I started cleaning my screen with this armor all car wax it's a wet or dry fast wax comes in a bottle like windex and it's like new again maybe a bad idea but no negative effects on mine yet.

Could it be that the oleophobic coating wore off? I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711761 and people were saying that their screen wasnt smooth.
I also found this oleophobic coating kit. Could this potentially fix it? http://www.amazon.com/API-Fingerpri...1360793543&sr=1-1&keywords=oleophobic+coating
or should I just buy a screen protector and would that fix it? Recommendations?
Thanks?
I doubt your carrier would fix this problem of yours because it's not a mistake of theirs, they'd only fix the phone or screen if it was a manufacturer problem, which it clearly isn't.. if I were you, I'd do an insurance claim on your phone, pay $100 or whatever you're supposed to pay, get yourself a new s3 and sell the one you have now for as much as you can get out of it..

Ummm....I think that's insurance fraud. When you do an insurance claim you have to return the one that's broken if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise if you claim is as "lost" or "stolen", or even anything else, they deactivate the imei so it can't be used. I'd be pissed if I bought a phone that was blocked from a person like that. Be careful about the advice you give. Its a similar concept if you do a warranty exchange through Tmobile. They expect their device back otherwise you get charged the restocking fee.

Generally all touchscreen phones will have fingerprints after awhile. Mine didn't till after a couple weeks ago did then they started showing up.
It is what it is. Either wash your hands all the time or get a good screen protector. Really is that simple.

My wife's white s3 has the same issues, but not my blue one. I am going to change the outer glass/screen on the phone, and then add a screen protector. Hopefully it is not the digitizer. The issue is that the area at the bottom left side of the screen has to be pressed hard for a response, sometimes it goes into things when swipe as if a had taped on those only.

go to Orilley's or any other car care sales place and get a small spray bottle of a detail wax.
it is not expensive, and I use the Mothers brand because of the price and results. (I also use it on my car)
spray a little on a microfiber towel, or if you don't have any, use a paper towel. Wipe the product all around on the glass area and keep wiping till the product starts to dry up. You do NOT have to press hard. After that, just wipe up the glass and you'll see it's just as good as new.
I also do the camera lens and the pictures come out MUCH, MUCH sharper!
Good Luck!

yes! but don't Flood the juice.... dampen a small spot using the rag jcovering your pointer finger and rub lightly all around the glass and keep rubbing till the liquid starts to dry, but not totally dry, and wipe off the residue. be careful not to get anything in the buttons and speaker ports. You might even use painters tape to mask out the speaker and home keys till you get a feel of the procedure down. You won't have to do it too often, just when you feel the glass is getting too "sticky""
good luck!

Thanks! I will try this when my screen gets too sticky. Right now it is alright, though it's not as smooth as day one.
My father in law has just had his screen replaced as he had a slight accident with dropping a after shave bottle on the screen. He has had the screen replaced and for some reason when I call comes through its like the screen is froze can't do anything, also when you go to wake the phone up sometimes he has to double press the button at the back to unlock it can anybody she'd any light on this as to me the screen is responding when it's unlocked as I can make calls swipe through app draw etc. Here is what I have tried so far,
1.factory reset
2.calbraoted the screen
3.turned security for pin.
That is the liquid damage. I believe nothing would help.
Maybe if you send it on repair they could figure what is causing (some hardware fault probably).

Hi,
I am using fingerprint to lock my device. The device was on the desk when my palm accidentally brushed the sensor and the device unlocked. I thought this was a one time issue but I am able to recreate the scenario with any finger or palm. I even asked my friend to test it out and it unlocked. All it required was just tapping the sensor and lifting immediately.
This is really concerning. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I am on stock ROM and unlocked bootloader.

i just tested mine .. its working good.. ! maybe try registering Fingerprints again !!
Registering the fingerprints again did not work. But a factory reset sure did. Hoping to not face this again.
