Removing sony shatter proof glass voids the warranty. It works only on glass it works on camera lens too
I found this campaign a coating that make phone scratch resistant. we can apply it on front and back.. It costs 25 dollars only..Here is what they have to say............
So what is Liquid Sapphire and how does it work ?
Liquid Sapphire is a DIY coating that stops your phone, tablet or any touch screen from getting scratched, ditch your old plastic shield protector and get the full clarity of your screen using liquid sapphire, it’s invisible, contains man-made liquid sapphire which is second only to diamonds in hardness. Liquid Sapphire is a one time Nanotechnology application and does not need to be topped up.
Liquid Sapphire improves the clarity of your screen, the effect is caused by the Sapphires in liquid which will be a technology used in all touch screen devices over the years to come.
Specifications
Works with any touchscreen device and camera lenses.
Scratch resistant & waterproof.
Life Span : Permanent, Cannot be removed .(It can be removed by FELT and commercial polishing or commercial acid, e.g. hydrochloric acid.)
Invisible coating
External Coating : Yes
Internal Coating : No
Shelf Life : 18 months from opening
Non Toxic
Non Hazardous.
Liquid Amour is a lacquer, Liquid Sapphire is a invisible coating that contains Sapphire. Auto Glass coatings will be waterbased and are no where near in the same league, to coat it with Liquid Sapphire would cost more than the glass even at cost !
Sapphire is second to diamonds in the scale of hardness in natural mineral stones.
Transparency and hardness Sapphire is not only highly transparent to wavelengths of light between 150 nm (UV) and 5500 nm (IR) (the human eye can discern wavelengths from about 380 nm to 750 nm[37]), but is also extraordinarily scratch-resistant. Sapphire has a value of 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
Hardness Example 10 diamond 9 sapphire 8 beryl 7.5 garnet 6.5-7.5 steel file 7.0 quartz (amethyst, citrine, agate) 6 feldspar (spectrolite) 5.5-6.5 most glass 5 apatite 4 fluorite 3 calcite, a penny 2.5 fingernail 2 gypsum 1 talc

Yup; the issue isn't the glass itself. The top surface of the phone is the shatterproof layer. It's on top of that dragontrail glass and scratches easily (Recombu has show this in one of their youtube vids). Removing this layer after it has been scratched apparently voids warranty.
This is why it is probably best to put a screen protector on the XZ1 as it will protect the shatterproofing layer. I for one will probably try out this liquid stuff as it isn't that much more expensive than a good screen protector (e.g. Krusell) anyway.

I was worried about that too as the FAQ said that it's not meant for plastic, but then I found this Q&A:

Might cancel my order and order some of this as it looks way better.

Tried to cancel my amazon order and no go so will use the dynaflow in the meantime at it should offer very good protection over having no screen protector and will keep an eye on this thread to see when this product ships in October.

That's a shame, mate. But it's also a chance for us to hear if this type of product (the paint-it-on kind) works for our Z1!
Personally I'm still undecided about perhaps ordering a simple screen protector until the sapphire stuff arrives.

Not that I have come across - proximity sensor works fine when I take calls and the phone is around my face.
I did the full 24 hour dry before I touched it again - front and back coated.
Interesting thing to see will be when I get some of this liquid sapphire, if it plays well with the liquid armor coating which will be only about half a month old by then I imagine.

That's the bit I am interested in and also my plan is to use standard screen protectors in the meantime, refuse/cancel the order from amazon for the dynaflow and wait for the sapphire to arrive and use that instead.
Guess there is no harm in mixing and matching as you are just adding another layer of protection.
*Edit* My point above... knowing me I will end up using the dynaflow anyway but will try and resist the temptation!
Got the screen protectors and the dynaflow this morning so left the dynaflow alone....
Put on the screen protector very slowly and got it on perfect not wonky or anything and after noticed one spec of dust right in the middle of the screen arghhh ripped it off and threw it in the bin.
Opened the dynaflow package and put it on right away and now need to wait 24 hours before I can buff out the screen so will leave my phone turned off until tomorrow which is going to be very difficult.
Thankfully I can use my trust Nexus 7 to get me through these hard times lol
Still going to keep the liquid sapphire when that comes and will apply that to give it some extra strength.

Sadly its only for the front right now but still 0.2 mm WOW
Ordered and will review
So Here is the review. Shipping took about 5 business days to receive. The packaging is nice and premium feeling. The glass is thin indeed, with a nice smooth feel to it. I previously had the Nikklin tempered glass on. They are both nice products but I would say the Glass-m has a better fit. It seems to cover a little more of the screen.
As with the Nikklin it fits fine in my charging dock. I have not yet received the back sheet of glass but I'm pretty sure once that is installed it will no longer fit in the dock. It seems to do a good job with fingerprints but only time will tell how long that lasts.
I will post pics once I get a chance
As promised here are some pics.
The first ones are the nikklin which I liked but the anti finger print coating wore off.
Then I removed the ASF
Then I applied the glas-m
The website says is't made of "Corning® Gorilla® Glass"
And on the product package it's says hardness of 9H.
But is Gorilla Glass 9H of not?
Gorilla Glass is reported to have a hardness of 7 (some say it is as high as 9. I've reached out to Corning for their "official" value, since they only use Vickers to measure hardness) in the Mohs scale, so any material with higher hardness, such as sand, diamond, or other minerals , will scratch your screen.

I find all tempered glass can be scratched. I had them on my xperia Z for two moths and I would say they are very scratch resistant. I didn't have any noticeable scratches on them. I fond the back protect to take more of a beating since its always being placed on different surfaces. I like the Glass M because its cheap and fits good and yet the quality is equal to Spigen Glass-t. As for sand I would say it still a possibility to scratch the screen protector but stop rolling around on the beach with the phone in your pocket and you should be ok lol

Agree, almost tempered glass protectors are almost same,
Diamond (10H) -> Sapphire (9H) -> Tempered glass,
almost they wrote 8-9H, fact;
some wrote 9H, in fact maybe 8.x, just buy rounded tricks or for Ads.
Sands has random 2-10H, so, under sands, no tempered glass can avoid scratches yet.
Sapphire and Diamond can scratch Tempered Glass easily,
however, Tempered Glass cannot hurt Sapphire or Diamond.
(This is my understanding so far, any comments are welcome!)

Glass and sand are both at about 7H on the Mohs scale, sapphire is 9, diamond is 10.
These screen protectors use the pencil hardness scale in which 9H is about equal to 6.5~7 on the Mohs scale.
Oh~ Thanks!

Just saw the price on Spigen UK's site: £40. Wow. A little too steep for a screen protector isn't it?
Pre-ordered mine a week or so ago on amazon, just shipped via USPS today, I'll post a review when it gets here. :good:
I have replacement's coming for both. Haven't heard anything recently from spigen to say if it shipped or not. I'll give them until Dec 1 or so before I start hounding them. My original.t is still doing decent duty. IT was perfect until my grandson was wrestling with me last weekend and chipped the edge in 3 places. LOL
I'm not sure I get glass protectors anymore. I used to be a die-hard convert (I wouldn't even use the phone or pull off the factory cover until I had my protector ready) - but with gorilla glass being so resilient, unless you've got an extreme case they seem unnecessary and sometimes interfere (yellowing, distorted vision if you use polarized sunglasses, etc).
The issue really is that these are edge-to-edge so if you drop it, even with one of these on you won't prevent a crack (unless the fall is perfectly level) regardless of the hardness rating. It's the corners and sides you want to protect.

Dan, it's the smoothness/feel of glass that we adore while still protecting the original screen. If you don't care about the feel you might as well get a $10 screen protector.
If I accidentally put my phone in my keys pocket or slide the phone face down on a rough surface I'd rather easily replace a $30-$40 screen protector than spending a considerable amount of money to replace the panel/glass.

Don't get me wrong - I totally understand the appeal of glass, both in terms of clarity and feel, over some kind of plastic cover. My point is simply that the GG3 is *much* stronger / resilient than any kind of cover (to the point that dragging my keys or any "normal" situation wouldn't cause it issue) and that the cover, no matter what tensile properties, will never prevent cracking of the glass if the phone is dropped. Additionally, given that LG has finally figured out that separating the digitizer from the glass (a la iPhone) means that instead of paying $200 every time you crack the glass (as I have done, unfortunately, 4 times on my N4) - instead the phone works fine with cracked glass and eventually the glass prices should fall to something on the order of $30-40 installed. This is including the markup that the company I used to fix my N4 quoted me (e.g. retail pricing).
At that price point, why would you install a weaker, less efficient, optically distorting (all optical layers added on cause distortion, trust me I have a high level academic b/g in this field) when for the same price (or less if you're as prone to dropping your phone as I am) - you can have the glass replaced by the factory item for the same price or less? Plus the factory glass feels the best and has the most desirable features (oliophobic, hydrophobic, higher tensility, etc.) - no question.

Hi,

GG3 is strong, but it's still glass - I always find these demos with keys and knives kind of strange, because metals are typically softer than glass. The problem with any glass is - if you have your phone in your pocket with just a few grains of sand - you will get scratches - even on the Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is hardened to prevent shattering and scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. So, yes I think glass protector is a great idea.
I've been looking into the issues people had with bubbles forming on their Nexus 5 - and then I noticed that my Nexus 5, has a slight imperfection, almost like a slight dimple on the bottom of the glass, near the notification LED. It's really hard to see and I only noticed it by accident when I had the phone laying on the window sill and saw slightly distorted reflection of trees outside. I am wondering if people with bubble problem are in fact suffering from similar imperfection on the Nexus's glass preventing complete adhesion.

This is exactly the issue. There is a slight deformity in the flatness of the Nexus 5 glass surface in that area (bottom right on the bezel), a barely perceptible depression.
The current Spigen glass protectors are just too thick/stiff to accommodate this variation in flatness on the Nexus 5 screen. The result is a "bubble" under the protector.
I am guessing the Nano, being thinner and hopefully more compliant, will adhere properly to the Nexus 5 surface. Maybe a more aggressive adhesive could help here too?
I'm holding off until I see some user reviews. Also, still waiting for my Spigen refund!
However, I am 100% satisfied...
Let me keep this relatively short (going to try my best :silly and explain..
- Firstly, this combination covers more surface area than Whitestone as well as being a fraction of the cost
- Secondly, this combination covers less surface area than InvisShield as well as being a fraction of the cost
AND don't have to wait 7 months for the kit to arrive (yes, I exaggerated that -- don't get your panties in a wad).
* Umm, since I have a first and second, its only right for a third, right?
- So thirdly (sounds weird), this combination covers.... ITS A FREAKIN' FRACTION OF THE COST!
With 100% quality as the competitors. (bold statement, yeah? )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is not a review and I am in no way, shape, or form an employee/spokesperson/marketer of XtremeGuard. Here's my short review
- It just works
-- A few months ago I ordered the InvisShield LOCA based protector kit (you can read my experience here -- great protector btw -- https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75658621&postcount=463).
So I already had the necessary equipment already at my disposal. The installation was no different -- It was the exact same.
Well, my protector cracked while working on my car the other day and I had a few XtremeGaurd protectors laying around as back ups
(been using these guys for years and their 91% off deals are way too good to pass up), and I still had a lot of LOCA left over
from my experience awhile back (the link I pasted a few lines above ^^).
So I said to myself.. "Why the f** not" -- I ripped off the cracked InvisShield
(it was easy to remove -- that 'aftermarket' LOCA is brilliant -- nice and sturdy but removable without any damage to the phone),
got out the LOCA, set up my clean environment, and went to work.
-- Why LOCA on a flat glass? Well, if you haven't seen/tried it our phones are curved (duh)
so if you apply a flat glass protector on curved screens, it will leave some sort of halo effect around the edges. The LOCA solution fixes that issue.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The end result - Amazing (refer to the pics)- Install time (I'm very picky and particular - so I took my time to make sure it was perfect) ~30 minutes start to finish -- YMMV
- Touch sensitivity is unaffected
- No haze
- 100% clear
- 0 bubbles -- screen on/off
- Plays well with my case
- Did NOT remove/mess with the adhesive from glass protector itself
- Same exact procedure to install/removal of bubbles that could occur towards the edges/etc (3rd post)

Parts:- Spartan Tempered Glass Protector
http://www.xtremeguard.com/Google-Pixel-2-XL-Screen-Protectors-p/google_pixel_2_xl_screen_pro.htm
- LOCA $10.99 (you will receive 2 10mL tubes -- you'll be able to apply 10 protectors before you run out -- 2-3 mL per protector )
https://www.amazon.com/10ml-LOCA-UV-GLUE-Viscosity/dp/B00IOPYLJE/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
- UV Light
No idea -- I use the one that came with the InvisShield kit --
I'm sure the Whitestone UV light would work just fine too - I wont recommend anything I've never personally used.
BUT! Just about any UV light would work -- you know, like what your wife or girlfriend sticks their hands under after they get their nails 'did' ha..
I'd say no more than 30-36 watts -- A lower wattage UV light will take longer to cure -- which is not a big deal. I'm sure mine is very low in wattage.
Something with a timer would be best -- mines goes off after 30 seconds -- i do 60 seconds each section (top, middle, bottom).
Do not use the flashlight UV

PROCEDURE
If you mess up/have loca everywhere, clean it up with rubbing alcohol.. Rubbing alcohol cleans wonders when you replace the protector and have cured loca everywhere too.
Practice With Water
This is the EXACT procedure I use.The only difference?
- I use less loca (from the loca I order in the 1st post - I eye ball it when I pour it)
- I use the Xtremeguard protector
https://youtu.be/8KfB6KJFGWw
For some reason, embedding the video doesnt work
If for whatever reason you dont have the kit to start this procedure,
find something that will keep the protector lifted off the phone until you get the protector aligned
(what the sponge type thing is used for).
Whitestones kit comes with a device already embedded with their kit.
Doing the procedure myself

Did the Xtreme Spartan glass come with adhesive on the glass. If so, how did you deal with that with the LOCA when you applied to the Pixel?

From what I can recall, when I got the xtreme spartan glass few months ago, it does have adhesive on glass. The issue with it was the corners and sides don't stick well. I think using little bit of LOCA using card to apply should fix that.

However, i loca'd the whole thing (just like a whitestone application -- since the loca keeps the glass from touching the screen, the glass adhesive doesnt touch the screen (lol) so it doesnt stick yet..

Can I use leftover loca glue from the Whitestone protector?
I don't use protectors or cases, just a slim Spiggen sometimes when working outside , but kept the Samsung screen protector on when the phone arrived as it's been so well applied.
Anyway, took it off today and wow the screen is marvellous. Silky smooth finger print improved as well. Makes using the phone so much nicer. Take it off I say .

I wish I could, but I can't enjoy a device if I know that I'm going to scratch it. It seems that no matter how careful I am, I always get a big scratch in the screen if I don't use a screen protector.
Do you not get screen scratches, or do they not bother you?
Neither, depends what you call a scratch .
I certainly do not obsess about tiny marks you can only see when screen is off.
I can't fathom why anyone would spend a fortune on a phone and not enjoy the full user experience created by the designers
This screen is just a joy.
I avoid putting my phone in a pocket with anything else else.

Screen protectors really do take away from the feel and design of the phone. How much of a difference did it make with the fingerprint sensor? I know you said it helped, but is it night and day? You may end up talking me into removing my protector.

I took mine off and I will tell you this anything that's going to scratch your screen is going to go through the pre-installed "screen protector" it is such a thin piece of plastic it's not funny.

I always put the plastic that comes on my phone in the box and I just checked and it's the exact same material that was on the back of the phone when it first came out of the box.

No need to take it off if it's invisible, protects from unavoidable scratches and doesn't feel bad, plus it allows you to sell it for a much higher price later.
I don't see the point of this thread, that's like saying you don't enjoy sex without a condom while completely ignoring the high risk-insignificant reward side of the story.

Hey bro, it has been a while crisscrossing the XDA boards. Hope all's well with you...
I definitely noticed the increased color vibrancy when I took off the stock screen protector. The improvement on the fingerprint scanner was quite noticeable in my case. With the stock protector, I was getting print recognition every 6 out of 10. With it off, it's pretty much recognized everyone unless I miss the spot.
Of course like many who would be paranoid about scratching the screen, I tried the Ringke Dual Easy and found it to be actually much better than the stock protector. The surface is slick to the touch and fingerprints were read just the same as the naked glass.
So yeah, in my case the stock protector did affect the accuracy of my FPS.
BTW, one of the best methods to increase read accuracy I found was to do a few scans with the lightest touch possible, essentially providing good image without too much deformity (that would be my guess), and will allow unlocking with a quick light touch.

So you're telling me that thin piece of plastic is stronger and more scratch resistant than Gorilla Glass 6?
Anything that is going to actually scratch the screen is going to go through the thin piece of plastic that is applied.
If somebody wants to leave it on that is their prerogative but it is not going to stop anything that will scratch Gorilla Glass 6.
The pre-installed screen protector is the exact same material that was on the back of the phone when it came out of the box.

No, not stronger, but it won't allow scratches get to your screen and once your protector starts to degrade you can get a new one for a few coins, broke the screen because you had cold hands and it slipped? £300.
Gorilla Glass 6 is just glass, it scratches like glass at the same exact hardness, don't make a big deal about it.
The only improvements it comes with are flexibility and strength while very thin, everything else is the same as standard glass.

Ok first off the pre-installed "screen protector" is going to do NOTHING if you drop your phone. So if your hands are cold, your phone slips and the screen breaks it's going to happen with or without the pre-installed "screen protector". A tempered glass one might help in this situation but not the plastic film that ships on the phone.
Second, Gorilla Glass 6 does not scratch like standard glass. Glass on the Mohs hardness scale is 5-5.5 while Gorilla Glass 6 is 6.5, actually a big difference.
Now the pre-installed PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) "screen protector" has a Mohs hardness of 1, yes 1. So something with a Mohs hardness scale of 1 is protecting something that is 6.5 on the same scale? That makes ZERO sense. Any scratches you might end up seeing on it would not have scratched the actual screen.
Science is your friend.

It's always going to offer a degree of extra protection, it's stupid to deny that, they wrapped the whole phone in the same type of plastic to keep it pristine during shipping, environmental damage doesn't always limit to drops.

No. All glass scratches at 5.5-6, your £899 2019 flagship scratches just as easily as an iPhone 4.

Mohs is used entirely for mineral hardness, it was never intended to applied on synthetic materials such as PET, the number 1 you gave is completely made up, if you used a Mohs' pick on it anyway it would scratch around level 3.
I suggest you to avoid using whatever you found in your 2 minutes Google/Quora search to debate this and throw me a "Science is your friend." your statements are completely unscientific and you clearly never had anything to do with this field, I don't get who you're trying to impress.

Plastic is a level one on the Mohs scale.
Get with the times modern-day smartphones screens do not scratch like they used to do your research and stop looking foolish.
And there is a difference between the hardness of standard glass and Gorilla Glass
Your response is actually comical.
Edit: Plastic is a level 3 you were correct on that. But even with that you have something of a level 3 protecting something that's a level 6.5. Again that makes no sense.
But the first minute of this video will tell you everything you need to know about your pre-installed screen protector.
Like I said originally if somebody wants to leave it on there it's their prerogative.
Wow that escalated fast
Anyway, the phone is s joy to use without the screen protector, enjoying everything Samsung has designed .
I recommend owners try it .

Suggest me a good quality screen protector to get for the OnePLus 11 which I'm going to get on 7th Feb!
As always for, a real good quality is glass screen protector from Aliexpress, 2pcs for around 10-15USD, glue and UV light.
I have used cheap chinese glass protectors for my Iphone 12, OP7Pro, OP 8T and always was very happy with them.
The only other and real alternative for me is a synthetic sapphire glass protector for ~100USD. All the other protector between them are pretty much the same in the long run.

Isn't that the UV and glue protector sticks completely like a superglue and it's very hard to remove it, saw some videos about them.

Nice, I'll check out some tempered glass brands, or else I'm going to get a film protector from Gadgetshieldz because the tempered glass on a curved-display phone will break more easily than on a flat-screen phone! I've seen reviews on drop tests where the glass breaks because the case will not fully cover the curved edges.
I don't use screen protector.
After 4 years using a 6T, i just got a very thin line only visible under light and close inspection. Moreover, a 45Kg dummbell fell exactly over the screen phone (it was on the floor) and....crystal clear, not even a single mark or damage/deformation on the screen. ¿The almost invisible scratch? Carrying both phone and keys toguether, or even worse but it's plausible. I also owned the Nexus 4/5 and Moto Z Force and don't remember any scratch, at least no one to be concerned.
It's not the answer to you question but just a suggestion, don't spoil the touch/slide feeling, cleariness, and clean look of a naked screen. Of course you can get one of those stupid pseudo-"tempered glass" 9H (it's actually cheap polymer plastic), ... or a simple plastic one wich will be always shady due to have dozens of fingerprints (it's oil after all) without remedy) and will left a yellowish tint over the surface of the crystal (this is a fact, not my subjective impression).
Oh, i remember my Nexus 4, i also thought screen protector was a must, well after a year, i gor rid of it (the tint left by the plastic was there) and never looked behind.
And now we (I) have a more shadows fae beyond like turning a 799$ high end phone (Apple/samsung/former Huawei/etc consider OP10 not a high end (i don't want to say flagship) a mid range ) in a 206g brick.
Bumper case is another story. Now using the 1+ Sandstone and the same issue as with OP6T again, ****, the slider is almost unreachable to be operated propertly. I have been using a generic silicon case while i was waiting the new case, and slider hole was fine, hey, 1,89$ in AliExpress. I just bought it (the same) from Amazon for 10€, of course returned it with a random excuse when i got the new case. I will probably order half a dozen from Ali just to try.
I wass expecting the horror with ColOrxygenOS, but for the moment i havent suffered a stroke

I've never used screen protectors either. I've got 2 front pockets - one for my keys and one for my phone. It's not that hard. Anything that would actually damage the screen would shred the protector and damage your screen anyway. I've never had any scratches on my screens and a screen protector is not going to save you from an unlucky drop. I really don't see the point.
Stopped counting how many times I dropped my phone and it was saved by a glass screen protector - I would probably say dozens of time and I usually go through 2-3 protectors on each phone in average, depending how long I can live with a look of cracked protector before replacing it.
With typical, accidental drops the additional glass layer absorbs the impact and the phone just bounces of the impact area. In my personal experience for last 10 years with HTC M7, M9, Oneplus 7 Pro, Oneplus 8T and iPhone 12, I have never encountered a drop forceful enough to penetrate the protective layer and damage the actually screen glass under it.
Sure, it is possible but never happened to me when dropping phone from front jacket pocket heights, pants pocket height, going in or out of the car with a phone in the hand, pushing the phone from shelf or the bathroom sink etc.
Last week I removed my uv glass screen protector from OP7Pro that I was preparing for a trade in and it looked perfect and if I would want to trade it locally I would get a slightly better price for a mint condition screen rather than a used one for 5 years.
I've had pretty good luck with film over the years and the ONLY reason I started using them is they don't attract finger prints as bad as glass.

For some reason I started using tempered glass ones for the year I had an iphone 12 pro. I broke like 4 of them, it was ridiculous. I stopped using them after a few months and never did manage to hurt the screen, even though I broke the "protectors" left and right. And I use my phones in industrial applications (Im an industrial maintenance tech), they take some abuse.
Fwiw this phone comes with a film protector already applied out of the box. I haven't removed it yet and it's been fine so far.

Exactly. I'll leave the pre-installed screen protector on until it looks like ****. But when it's time to take it off, I won't replace it. Did the same with my 6T.
I see here people have said the 10 pro screen protectors fit, now that a lot more people have the phone has anyone tried this with any tempered glass ones with success?

I ordered also 2 no name glass screens on 9th of February but it still in shipping, no idea if it will be delivered.
I was curious about the SmartDevil bundle so we will see how much does it actually helps and what is the quality of the bracket.

Yes, tempered glasses always break often so as I said before a film protector and a case covering the edges of the screen is enough for protection!
