Since upgrading to 4.2.2 I cannot connect to my PC via USB cable.
The Note says I am connected as a media device but my PC (Win 7) will not recognize it.
Any advice please.
Try updating the device driver. Google around or search for samsung mobile latesr driver. Its somewhere on xda as well.

According to my PC, it has the latest device driver installed.
OTG cable works fine with my USB thumb drive.
i had same kind of problem last time. all i do is uninstall the current driver... reboot... reinstall again... reboot and plug in the device... then all goes well.

I'm trying to connect the phone with your computer with the USB cable.
On the phone you have to select the connection type you want to use, first of all, u have to install the drivers, when your done, plugin your defy and wait for windows to recognize it. You will have an icon on the right thats is showing new hardware installation. Click on it and see how it goes(you have at least to install 6 or 7 of them). After that on the phone, select mass storage as connection type, and pay attention that debug mode is off(on cell phone go to settings, applications, development, and turn off debug mode) And thats it...
My computer installa all driver than mtp usb driver ... what can i do? Help me please!

My brother just bought his new Samsung Galaxy S3 today and the PC doesn't recognize the device. I followed all the guides in xda and in google but no luck. We've tried in every usb port but it will always says that "Device driver not recognized". I also installed the KIES and the samsung drivers. I did reboot and nothing. We've tried this in Windows 7,8 and Mac OS in 3 different PC's. Also we reset the phone back to factory settings from the OS and cleared the cache via Recovery mode. No luck. The phone comes with Android 4.1.2.
Any idea what is happening? Should we update to the most recent android via OTA (If it's available?)

Remove kies from the phone and the computer. Are sure your phone us set to MTP

But there is no KIES application that I installed to the phone. And apart from that there is no a MTP selection like my Samsung galaxy Tab 2. I can send you screenshot. There is no MTP selection! :crying:

I am using Win 8 Pro and Odin wont work for me i use the latest V3.09 and i cant Root my device i got the latest "Samsung USB Drivers"
and the "ID:COM" wont turn yellow it stay`s blue:crying:
What do?
Install kies and see if that will connect. If it doesn't use it's troubleshooting tool

Also are you using the original USB cable? Some peoples have reported other USB cables did not work but once they use the original USB cable it work fine.
Please, please any help!!! the last days my laptop dont recognized my S4.... I try in a different computer but its the same....I dont know if do this after install the rom called Hyperdrive RSL14... because when I install this rom show something wrong in the installation, but I continue and use it... but I dont shure if the computer dont recognized after that......

i try send my phone in Odin mode , but its the same !!!... I try to do on my cell restoring to an old nandroid backup but its the same....so only have in my sdcard two roms to install : wiked 10 and hyperdrive RSL14... but I want my pc recognized my cell... please helpme on this !!!

I did ut..but its the same...download kies but not... my 3 pcs cant recognized my S4... if its my S4 with somsghing wrong ?

its NOT my pc.... its not the cable... I have 3 laptops....windows 7 and one with windows 8 with the latest drivers intalled... other phones its works with them..,. just only my S4, so I have 3 usb cables ones OEM and 2 more generic... the 3 usb cables works with other cell in the pcs...
what its wrong with my S4.... if conect to my pc the phone its charging, but just only charging.. not recognized to other modes... I want to know what can I do, because its important fix it, to work with ODIN and not pull out the ExtSDCard every time to want to past any file between my cell and my pc...
something its wrong with the port on my cell... did you think I need replace the port or something like that ????:crying:

which version of Samsung kies ur using
Have you tried removing the drivers from device manager and reinstalling them?

windows recognize problems
I went through that for about a week. and my solution was as simple as using another usb cable. it sounds simple but try it. make sure its made for your phone. some pprograms will run with other cables and some wont.

check your data cable it may not be working correctly use other data cable

Make sure you have the Samsung USB driver for mobile phone installed on your PC.

Install Samsung Driver Correctly and See if still doesn't work use other USB cable and connect..

When I try to install the drivers it says : "acces denied".
I tried using other USB cables but it didn't help.
