[Q] USB connectivity problem. With Stock ROM (4.1.2). - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

My brother just bought his new Samsung Galaxy S3 today and the PC doesn't recognize the device. I followed all the guides in xda and in google but no luck. We've tried in every usb port but it will always says that "Device driver not recognized". I also installed the KIES and the samsung drivers. I did reboot and nothing. We've tried this in Windows 7,8 and Mac OS in 3 different PC's. Also we reset the phone back to factory settings from the OS and cleared the cache via Recovery mode. No luck. The phone comes with Android 4.1.2.
Any idea what is happening? Should we update to the most recent android via OTA (If it's available?)
Thank you.

Remove kies from the phone and the computer. Are sure your phone us set to MTP

But there is no KIES application that I installed to the phone. And apart from that there is no a MTP selection like my Samsung galaxy Tab 2. I can send you screenshot. There is no MTP selection! :crying:

Tab?

Been trying for 2 days on 2 different computers, cant get kies or odin to see phone!!

Copying my posts from Android forums, PLEASE HELP
At first kies would not recognize my phone either, after going into device manager and installing drivers that were found on my computer (hopefully from installing kies) kies will now recognize that I connected a device but it says, to please reconnect in PC Studio mode, current mode is not supported by kies??, and then I get the windows USB device not recognized message, ODIN doesnt see my phone at all. Latest kies version is installed.
In an earlier post someone was talking about another drive in addition to kies, where do I find this??
Sorry I am so lost and frustrated, I am not a noob, I switched roms on my EVO every few days, but this is my first sammy and I can't get the damn thing to recognize my phone, Could anyone give me a detailed dumbed down step by step process please? Thank you!!!!
tried on my 2nd pc, kies intalled without error message, but didnt recognize my device, i chose the install drivers option in kies, it seemed to install, but odin doesnt recognize it and still says usb not recognized when i plug it in urrrrr!
ok so the second PC seems to have gotten the drive installed and my computer recognizes the it as samsung usb modem, and samsung android device, but it still isnt recognized by kies or odin, and the usb not recognized still pops up. When I go to device manager I can update the epic touch driver and it seems to take but there is also a USB mass storage driver that has a yellow triangle and I Cant seem to fix it.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, been trying on 2 computers for 2 days. I have a rooted EVO and G tablet, i swear I'm not a complete idiot, I just need my damn computer to recognize my phone! Thanks, sorry for the rant
To get mine to connect in kies I have to turn off usb debugging, and kies always says it has to close because of a problem but I just ignore it and don't click OK or close out the dialogue box and then the phone shows up and I can do stuff on kies. Hope this helps and hopefully its not like this for everyone else

Close kies, open odin, make sure usb-debugging is enable on your phone, try connecting your phone to a different usb port. Should re-install drivers, and pop up in odin. You don't need to open kies at all.

Also, sometimes the USB cord itself can be faulty, or so was the case with the OG Epic.

no mine is fine, that's just the way i have to do it to be able to sync with kies and stuff, my drivers are fine, it was just a suggestion for the op cause he sad he couldn't connect to kies, but i think i have to do it that way cause its through parallels desktop for mac.
Thanks guys, so im uninstalling kies yet again, then going to reinstall, reboot my pc, enable us debugging on my phone, plug it in,allow drivers to install (hopefully) and never open kies. Then I'll open odin and put my phone in download mode and then reconnect it to my pc right? Is it correct to assume that odin will only see my phone in download mode?
i had to do this for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867518
Kies
You may also consider trying uninstalling Kies, installing/updating Java and then reinstalling Kies. What OS are you using on the PCs?

[Q] Computer won't recognize my SGS2; how do I return to stock?

I can't get USB mounting to work on my linux PC, windows PC, or work windows laptop.
The computer completely fails to recognize the phone, even when I manually tell it to connect as usb storage device.
I've tried three different USB cables.
ODIN mode isn't recognized either, no USB devices are detected and Odin does not display an ID for the phone.
So WTF do I do know? I believe I need to return to stock firmware but I don't know how without using Odin.
You need to download the drivers for your computer in order for it to read your device. I believe its somewhere here in the forums if not Google it. I would post a link but I'm not on my computer

You can download the drivers from the how to root thread in the dev section.

Are you using the original samsung cable? Mine refuses to be recognized by my pc's if it's not the original cable, works fine with the original but the system never picks it up with any others.

Did you try installing Kies SW from the Samsung site? Installing this SW will also install all of the appropriate drivers on your PC.

Galaxy S 3 (III / I747) Charging but no drivers are installing

Evening amazing people of XDA-Developers!!!!!
My issue is that my Galaxy S 3 (III / I747) charges when plugged in via usb but no drivers are installing. I am unable to see my phone via MTP or Odin (to flash roms or root), my phone does not show me any way of changing the MTP or the other option when plugged in via the phone itself.
It is 2 days old from Costco. I have installed the drivers via "Samsung GS3 QCom ToolKit" and "Kies" with no success.
Thanks and hope I can get this figured out.

What's your operating system? I'm On Windows 8 64 bit and I had to manually install the drivers (clicking on the driver installer) you might also want to try install as administrator and teen off UAC on your PC

I had a similar issue where it was installing as a modem instead of a phone. I manually installed the phone drivers after uninstalling everything
and rebooted, then it started working correctly.

You're never prevented flashing by not using a computer unless you stick with Odin only, even then you have Mobile Odin. Read above and see if it works. Neither of you stated the OS used and causing the problem.

I had this problem when i tried to update S3 from ics to jellybean with NEW install of kies. Had to go to windows settings and untick auto update( i set it to ask me every time) and reinstall kies. Windows auto update seemed to be updating what kies had installed. After this my drivers installed as soon as I plugged in my S3 although windows update does now show 2 samsung update available, I just don't allow the updates.
Hope this helps

I had the same issue, after getting in contact with samsung, all i had to do was turn off the phone, remove the battery, wait 60 seconds and re install battery. after that worked perfectly.
Install Samsung Kies. That will fix the driver issues and it should appear in ODIN after that. That's how it worked for me.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64... I have done the following to hopefully alleviate the issue I am having but with no success:
System restored...
Installed KIES...
Used the toolkit...
The only thing that works is charging... even running in Odin, the computer does not recognize the phone... where are the drivers so I can manually install them?

Help with a previously soft-bricked GS3

I recently accidently bricked my GS3, and needed a jig to boot into download mode. After successfully getting into download mode with the jig, however, Windows 7 doesn't recognize my GS3, instead giving the message "USB Device Not Recgonized" and showing the yellow triangle on the device icon in the device manager as an unknown device. This is obviously a problem, as Odin can't recognize the device either, to flash a stock rom to get me out of this mess.
I honestly don't know how to remedy this.
Any thoughts?
Uninstall drivers and install them again
Use different USB ports.. My computer and I've heard a lot too are picky with the USB port that is bring used
Keep trying it should work one way or another
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
i've tried this with every port on my machine, every time I get two messages, the same "USB Device Not Recognized" after a "Device driver software was not successfully installed" message.

Well uninstall the Samsung drivers you currently have and install them again...
Or try downloading Kies and install it and overwritten your current drivers and see if that works

Do I need to do anything other than going into device manager, clicking on the Unknown Device, hitting uninstall, then going to the samsung folder where I downloaded the drivers from via the S3 Toolkit, and deleting that folder?
That's what I've done each time, with a reinstall of the drivers of course.
Just tried installing drivers on a fresh computer, no dice, same messages popped up.
I'll try Kies.
Kies doesn't seem to recognize the device on any USB port, either.

odin can't detect in flash mode

I know this occurs to several users and to others phones such as SG2,III,Ace and many more. But so far, i still can't figure out how to solve it.
Installed Kies, Installed SGN2 kit 3.0.
When the phone is On, i can transfer any files through Kies, or just drag and drop. Even Odin detect my phone "port 3" in blue.
On the phone, i tickled USB debugging and hold down volume, menu+power to go in Flash mode. and from there i'm stuck. my computer can't detect the phone anymore.
Any help? please!

Odin. Odin can't detect my phone when in FLASH mode(volume down+menu+power).
It's volume down+power+home. Just wanted to make sure you were in fact in download mode.

Its because he has toolkit and kies intalled at same time...it says in toolkit thread to have onr or other....the drivers dont mix
I had the same problem. Heres the solution. Uninstall Keis then reinstall. Then plug in your phone until all the drivers are installed. Make sure you use that same usb on your computer if you have more then one. Then try again by opening Odin first, then put phone in download mode and plug in the phone into the same usb as you did when installing the drivers. For some reason odin only works with the usb you plug your phone into, when you installed the drivers.
