AT&T imei issues?

How common is this I would likevcto flash some roms and all that good stuff. I have been reading about people phones not working after rooting and applying a Rom. Should I be worried ? Should I wait? And if it's all good any methods that worked cleanly for other people ? Thanks in advance

I wouldn't say its very common as there are tons of people flashing and we dont hear about half the forum crying about corrupting their imei, thats not to say that its a non issue though. As you can probably see from the numerous threads (main one in the att development). Its advisable to wait, but with any flash you know the risk you are taking.
I was actually holding off till yesterday, ended up just saying eff it and flashed, did the non trip rooting, flashed the latest cwm from the official cwm site. Flashed Aokp, no imei wipe (was scared ****less the whole time though ) Decided i didnt even like the AOKP rom and flashed my carriers stock rom again through odin, So far so good.
However in the future im waiting for a full solution to this imei problem before i root or flash again. :good:
Id say just read the threads, if you understand the risks and want to proceed go ahead. good luck

yeah man i say check out the stock first, if you can wait, wait. The stock rom is best i find. and yes i followed all the steps, downloaded the latest cwm from the rom manager site and whatnot. pushed the cwm through terminal emulator on the phone.

i flashed my phone with the original at&t root method (which increased flash counter). since then, i've flashed the stock rom (UCALEM) to get non-modified status, reset the flash counter, and flashed the stock update rom (UCALG1) with no problems so far. i wasn't even aware of the imei issues until poking around the forums the other day. i suppose ignorance really is bliss.

So ish there a chance even if we follow AT&T stuff directly? I've never heard of this happening I've had and flashed a lot of phones and never heard of such a thing should we worry or what I wanna flash but don't won't a brick

i think there's always the chance... but you can reduce that chance significantly if you read up and follow the directions.

[Q] what's the deal with 4.3?

- For android 4.3, there has been a lot of talk on the developer section, and from what I can see, the major bugs/issues have been fixed. Like the ROM not rebooting correctly. For those using 4.3, is this true?
- Also, from what I understand, this was due to the recoveries not being ready for 4.3, however CM released their own bare bone recovery to fix that issue. And then I've read that the TW recovery has also been updated to solve this problem.
-There is a lot of information in the development forums, but I have not seen any post on the steps on what to do in order to upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3.
-Right now I have CWM 5 recovery, because that's been working for me, and I never bothered changing (bad experience with trying to upgrade/change a recovery). Now from what I understand, I should be able to flash the newest touch recovery (via the goo app?), and then wipe and flash any 4.3 ROM. Any detail instructions would be a help, or if someone can create a tutorial post, that would be great.

You could just install ROM Manager and update from there. It's super-easy (you need ROOT, but I presume you have that since you're flashing ROMs anyway). :good:

Many people have had bad experiences with ROM Manager. Especially in the Gingerbread days when its use was more common for this sort of thing.

Interesting -- always been good to me, although I only use it to update the recovery; for the ROM itself I use Cyanogen's update util. I also use CWM, not TWRP, so there's that...

Ur best and safest approach would be to DL Odin and the drivers for ur phone, then go to techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules and DL twrp2.6.0.4, this is the 4.3 compatible version, then put ur device in DL mode and connect to odin, load the tar file in PDA and click start, 30 sec and u have the latest and greatest twrp recovery, now go get hellybean 4.3 or beanstalk4.3 and flash it, watch the beauty take place...

I updated my rom today like I usually do from the CMUpdater and it updated from 4.2 to 4.3. I didn't mean or want to do that, but it didn't tell me otherwise. Now I'm having issues left and right......the one time I don't back it up...grrr.
I'm having the most issues with Gapps. I downloaded the new one and installed it and Google Music and Youtube keeps crashing. I guess I'll be doing the full wipe now.

Did u update to 4 3 gapps? It won't do it automatically, even if u updated through goo it just looks at what version is installed and updates that version, 4.3 gapps can be found in any 4.3 thread

Why do some of those files say hercules, and others sgh-t989? Aren't they the same phone?

How to get a solid Note 3 rom working

These are the steps I took to get a solid note 3 rom working. I take no credit for this. The roms and mods in this were made by the devs in the links posted. so hit the thanks button for them.
Quick note make sure you reboot after each step.
1. download the stainless rom and flash

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496292&page=27 use this first. For the upgrade. Then root with cf auto root. After that download goo manager from the market. Once done open the app hit the menu button and select flash recovery. Then reboot into recovery with the app you will see the option when you open the app. Follow the steps above and your good. Goo manager is for twrp.

Quick question, can I root cwm before installing 4.3, right now I am on 4.1.2, so I can install titanium back up and backed up my apps so 4.3 wipe out everything so I can restore it back. Thanks

No need the one click will Unroot and wipe your device. If you care about what you have now then root, Install recovery, back up your rom, and then flash. If not then just one click as long as you're n att.

Great job.
I got inventive and tried to port DN3 Gohan edition to DN3 1.0; failed attempt.
I think I got bit in the butt by update-script also.
I wasn't confident on my Belinda build, since I've been messing around. Glad you had it.

The download link at dropbox for DN3_v3.1b_by_E-Team_(Trunks_Edition) - Fixed by SydneyBelinda.zip is full from too much traffic. I have PM'd OP. So how's about not posting every 30 seconds that the link is not working eh?

I won't be installing the new rom. I'll stick to a more friendly dev team.
I'll be donating to ptmr3 as soon as I have a couple extra bucks since he's the kind of dev I want to be around. No rom is worth being abused by the devs.
Edit: seanz rocks too .. As well as ALL of our fine AOSP developers.

I took a crack at these instructions. I have to say they aren't the most informative.
It didn't work for me. I'd like to think I know what the hell I doing.
Unless there's no reboot in between the steps and you just flash your brains out and cross your fingers. Guess I could try that.

Rebooted didn't flash the Devil kernel yet since it says it's fixed the wifi.
Boot loop.
Maybe that's what was needed to do.

I actually think the instructions are fine and the OP of this thread is awesome btw. I meant the ditto devs.
But in response to your question- you flash the bootloader first... which is basically what you did when you flashed the one click.
It also seems most of the problems with twrp 2.6.3.1 seem to be with the aroma installer.

Cool. Gotta run to a xmas program thing. I'll back down to 2.6.3.0. And try again.
And do you think you blow by the reboots and flash back to back to back, or reboot in between?
I've seen it done both ways.
Not busting balls on the instructions too much. But they leave a lot to interpretation. They are direct and to the point.
But that leaves it open to dumb ass questions. Like mine, do you reboot in between or not . : )

You should reboot after every flash.

This thread is just how I got a good working non carrier branded rom going. That's it. It looks like the DN3 team opened up its thread so it might be easier to flash that rom since this guide is pretty much how to use there mods.

After soft bricking my phone for over a week, i have successfully booted the Leaked KK422 ROM in this thread! (had to tear apart and modify the way it installs) I have made a flashable ROM that can use your current recovery. It just flashes ROM & Kernel. No need to change your setup other than erasing the System & Data (NOT SDCARD). Can restore back after trying it out!
So Far:
No-Wifi, Won't start up
Needs to get correct Sprint APN file
-Sure there is more....
I'm working on it! Give me some time, i gotta go to work early in morning!

I'd like to get the ROM more user friendly first, just got it booted less than 1/2 hour ago, but i'd say tomorrow evening i will definitely throw something up for everyone to check out.

I didn't have much time to mess with anything, it had signal, it showed it found the Sprint network, but it showed it had "disabled" data (maybe thinks it's roaming). I wanted to get the wifi issue straightened out first (I think it just needs the modules and / or symlinks changed). I just don't have enough hours in the day anymore, so i'm just gonna go ahead and put the link to the ROM in the next few hours. I will just post it here until we can get some of the issues worked out. It's uploading to a server now.
Here is the Link: (Somebody PLEASE mirror this so the server doesn't load up)
ROM: Test_02_KR_KK442.zip
Install Notes:
(Keep your current Recovery, Backup Your Current ROM)
Wipe System & Data (not SDCard)
Flash Zip
Flash Latest SU Zip (Optional) -->Latest SU Here
Reboot, Be Patient.....
To Remove ROM, Reboot to your recovery, erase system/data and restore your backup you made...
Rom Notes:
Remember was only my second test of the ROM to just get it bootable, probably has bugs I haven't seen yet!
Data has issues, Wifi isn't turning on, some settings force close (as I said -was just getting bootable)

I didn't have time to test the download once uploaded, someone please let me know if they successfully flashed so I know it uploaded to the server successfully.

Do you think it would mess with partitions? I want to try it on my multiboot but I am not sure what it will try to do after install. I don't want to take the chance of messing anything up because I am at work with no access to lgnpst if anything goes horribly wrong.

Should be ok, it only changes the System & Boot partition. Restores your previous back easily through recovery. Just like any other Rom on here. I'm using Philz touch recovery 6.41.6 ls970.

I am installing right now but it flashed the lg logo and then gave black screen. I am letting it sit for a few minutes as long as it doesn't get hot I will wait for about 5.

Hopeful the upload was good, I left for work while it was doing it's thing. Hope another person can also test without running Multi-Boot and report back. I have flashed this over and over on my phone successfully (from my local copy), then later restored another rom, and flashed back several times last night without issues. If all else fails later on tonight I will send another copy to the server.

I wouldn't jump to that until you find out if someone not on multirom can run it. I know of someone else that can't run it on multi, but can regular.

It boots up and works just fine other than the mentioned issues of wifi and data, etc. And Korean-ness everywhere.

Good question from the looks of the information found in the link its still 4.4.2 just with some security updates. From a view doesn't seem like it but also wouldn't hurt to see it offers some improvements.

If your own E98020g then the update is just only 5mb
E98020g -> E98020h: 5.15 MB (Wi-Fi not required)
Then again after the stunt AT&T pulled graying out the APN in the last update its pretty much at your own risk at this point.

Alright, I went ahead and let the update download and install. Upon the phone rebooting, it is now stuck in CWM recovery. I can't seem to get out of it. I guess the update is not friendly with custom recoveries.
Anybody have suggestions on what to do? I found similar posts on the LG G2 forums, but they talk about connecting the phone to adb while still in CWM. Every time I try that, I get "device offline" and can't send any commands.

This sounds the same as last update three months ago.

As far as I've ever known you always need to have stock recovery with a update like that.... You probably have to use lg flash tools to get back to stock ... IMO

That's pretty much what I've figured as well. I'm working on getting back to stock now. I should've known better...

Just updated this morning, I was VERY unhappy with the last update, it really bogged down the phone and I experienced some other small issues...after updating this morning, I have double the amount of free RAM as before and phone feels much more snappier again!

Just updated... i rooted with towel root, installed busy box,supersu, and 6.0.4.4. Cwm No problems yet...

Anyone know if it is possible to unroot (through superuser) , take the update and root again? I might try it tomorrow but need to go to work soon and need the phone for work so not today.

daaaamn it , i hit that notification i knew i would ......im having to go back to stock but i am having a hard time with it ..... what is the EASIEST way to do it ,

I try to install update, but is necessary download via wifi, not download using data phone

bro, backup all app/data, then make a factory reset, wipe dalvik, then configure again your phone, download update via wifi, then restore your data, then root.... that's it
you look, your phone have is better and run perfect with 4.4.2 updated

I used this method with this image the last time I went back stock.
I may just pass on this update as it is too big of a PITA to go back stock and then re-customize everything.

Sounds like you're in the same boat i was. Sucks.
I ended up using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44983841, but i needed to do it slightly differently. It gave me a lot of grief last night, but I ended up getting it to work if i pulled the usb in and out of the phone when the lgflashtool showed that it was "ready". I can't fully remember the exact combination that worked, but i finally got the kitkat tot to flash and then update and towel root. If you have any more questions, let me know and I'll try to step through it when i make it to my laptop.

For what it's worth I am stock rooted and was able to do the update with no problems. I would suggest if your not sure of what your doing to look through the forums and find a safe way to unroot, go back to factory rom and then do the update. It will save you hours of trouble. Good luck

Lol I must have hit the button while sleeping ..... Buddy called me and I remember hitting the notification area ...boom stuck recovery loop... Its all good now I got it all figured out and restored my stock kk. Pain in the ass lol. Is that update even worth it ... What all is in it ? Nothing major I'm guessing
