I created a NFC tag/Tasker combo to activate Car Home Ultra when I get in my car. In Car Home Ultra, I checked the "Start/Stop Car Mode" option so that hitting the home button will take me back to Car Home Ultra instead of the regular Android home screen.
However, I can't exit out of Car Mode. I have a steering wheel icon notification in the notification bar that says "Touch to exit car mode," but tapping it has no effect. The only way to stop the phone from taking me to Car Home Ultra on home button press is to reboot the phone. I can disable the setting in Car Home Ultra to start up Car Mode, but it defeats the whole purpose of simulating a car dock.
Note: Car Mode and Driving Mode are NOT the same thing. Car Mode is a Google implementation, I believe, whereas Driving Mode is a Samsung implementation (as far as I can tell). Driving Mode only reads incoming calls and texts out loud, while Car Mode simulates having a physical car dock.
Does G4 has car mode? Is there appropriate cable, car dock?
Also interested in knowing this.
I just got my Sprint G4 and Car Mode is working fine, including "home" going back to the car dock app. I'm using Car Dashboard for the app. I'm also using Bluetooth Car Mode to set the phone to car mode when it connects with my car.
It "just worked" for me... but I also did an LG Backup from my old G2 to the G4, and that transferred all this over to the G4.
There IS a car mode, but as far as I know, not launchable in the conventional sense. I use Tasker to activate car mode when I plug the phone into the car. You can also set it to car mode when connected to your car BT.
What does the car mode look like, or how could I try it out on my phone?
Nothing really - just an icon in the notification bar, and that screen brightness is at max. There's no Google Car Mode app or anything built in.
Can just add: when Car Mode is initiated, the call AutoAnswer becomes active and works without switching on Call auto answering in LG menu
I use Bluetooth Car Mode Starter to start car mode when the phone pairs with my car's bluetooth:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.bluetoothcarmodestarter&hl=en
Prior to that, I used the Car Mode app to enable car mode manually:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.schwimmer.android.carmode&hl=en
(alternately, as mentioned about, you can use Tasker)
The Car Dock Settings app is helpful:

I've actually got the old Google Car Dock on my phone; I plucked the APK off my Galaxy Nexus and Google has moved it forward for me every phone I've had since. It's really ugly. As I said, I prefer "Car Dashboard".

I was trying to do exactly this. Do you know what activates car mode? I know I can use NFC but I was hoping to replicate a setup I had on my S4 where I plug into a dock and tasker detects it is in dock mode. If I recall on my Samsung S4 had to modify a USB cable for the S4 to detect this.
Cheers!

Within Tasker I can search for Car Mode, but I have no idea how to find and initiate merely from the phone.
i recently bought a Erisin ES8898V, work fine, only the parking sensors dont turn off when i pull the car out of the reverse gear car but stay beeping for 5-10 sec. is there a way that they turn off immediatly when i pull the car out of the reverse gear ? because this is the way it worked before i installed the headunit.
Hi,
excuse me for bad english (GOOGLE translation)
if anyone can help me?
I installed a Head Units in my vw Touran Carat 2016 and I have the original detection of traffic signs but now the GPS does not take over for example the camera on the windshield detected the panel in town but when I out of the city I no longer have anything displayed on the screen because it is normally the gps that takes over.

I recently installed a Xtrons PQS90MTVL head unit in a skoda superb. I have a couple of questions on how to get it to work correctly when navigating.
1) It seems that you can set the navigation sounds to be a percentage of the radio volume but cannot set it to play at a given volume regardless. The problem is that the radio seems to be constantly on and there is no way to turn it off. The 'on/off' button simply mutes the radio - and the navigation sounds.
Often I am in an area where I cannot pick up a decent radio signal on the programme I want and just get static. In these situations I want to turn the radio off but still hear navigation sounds. I don't want to listen to loud static just so I can have the nav sounds play at a percentage of that static. Is there a way to turn the radio off but still get navigation sounds? (a workaround I have found is to play a media file instead of the radio and then pause playback. The nav sounds are then still a percentage of the - non existent - playback volume. However this should not be necessary)
2) It also seems that a Internet connection is needed for any navigation. even google maps won't do a search without it as it says I am offline. (is this true?)
I have bought the 4G wifi dongle but have a question about its use. Does the HU connect to the dongle, as far as data is concerned, via the USB socket that comes out of the back of the unit or is that socket simply powering the dongle and the HUI is actually connecting to it over wifi using the dongle as a hotspot? If so then I don't have to use the wired usb socket from the unit (which I suspect is underpowered) and can plug the dongle into an ordinary 2A USB socket that I have in the car, positioning the dongle near the roof for a better signal
Incidentally I did try using Android Auto with my phone using wired connection. That seems sort of OK but is not very reliable. Often when starting the car it hangs at the 'connected' screen, or even at the 'trying to connect' screen, although other times it seems OK
3) There is a small socket on the left hand side of the HU that looks like a slot for a small memory card or a sim card. It is labelled 'GPS'. What is that socket used for? it is not mentioned in the manual as far as I can see. - The manual is generally a bit hand waving though, excitedly telling you what you can do but not how to do it.
(I did try the xtrons forum but not only are the last posts there around January 2022 but there seems to be no way to register for it. Hence posting here)

All I know is the model is Xtrons PQS90MTVL so maybe its MTVL (whatever that is) I'm afraid I don't know what mcu means so cannot offer any version for it. Its possible I have posted this in the wrong section and have rep[osted in 'Android Head-Units'. If that is the right place and this is the wrong place, please can you delete this post
