Quick question about Triangleaway - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

So i want to root my note 2 but do i have to flash the Triangleaway right away or later on when i want go back to stock i can do it then ?

Triangle away is the app to reset the flash counter in samsung devices.no need to use triangle away for rooting.it will just reset the number of times you flashed the firmware to zero.

Yep.but if you want warranty you should reset the flash counter before going to service centre.that's how they see how many times you flashed firmware.

thanks a lot, and btw how do you install the twrp recovery ,?

Download goo from the market and install from menu button.

FYI..resetting counter doesnt revert your rooted phone back to stock. After running triangle away you still need to unroot using SuperSu then factory reset n stock recovery. If you skip unroot and factory reset steps it will show 0 count but status will show customized when you go to download mode.

If you want to be completely stock without losing data....
First odin flash cf auto root for stock recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980644
Then download supersu again
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ce=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=supersu
Then download triangle away

Run triangle away as root
Then go to super su and full unroot
0 flash counter
Stock recovery
Unrooted

If your device Status is Modified.... Factory Reset will make it Official.Soooo Unless you need to return your phone, leave it alone.
Always make a stock rooted backup whenever you root and you can revert back to stock in minutes without factory reset
This took me 2 hours to figure without losing apps or data. So hit the thanks if it helped

if you use TA under root, doesn't it force an auto reboot? How do you get the SU to do full unroot then?
Yes, once you do TA it reboots in a recovery and warns you tge resets counter. Does not factory reset just restarts and clears counter.
Under supersu if you scroll down to the bottom of options ut wilk say full unroot.
Id show a screenshot but I unrooted already. If you see it can you post a screenshot.

easiest way. once you run the TA app, it'll reboot, once you press 'vol up' to clear and when it's done (screen goes blank), pull the battery, go to DOWNLOAD mode, it'll be 0.
Does this also work on the Rogers version? It is the SGH-I317M.
Yes

Make sure all rooted apps are uninstalled then go to settings. If it says modified like mine then there is still a rooted app installed. Your picture is correct, shows everything stock.

Well that picture is stock out-of-the-box. I just want to make sure i can obtain that back whenever it is needed.
Post your device status as well mine said modified. Yours should be normal. Good info thanks.
And yes those steps are what you will follow to put back in factory settings. The device status must also be unmodified. In my pic its modified.

I thought the main reason to root was to install a different kernel?
I can root to flash to flash roms on top of stock kernal

One quick question. ..
Okay so if I DID make a stock rooted nandroid backup before I flashed custom rom and kernal and I wanted to just completely unroot and go back to stock everything, then all I would have to do is just flash back to the nandroid I made, then run triangle away, delete any root apps, then click unroot in SuperUser and I should be good to go if I have to take the phone in for warranty? And will it be in that exact order? Or should I just run triangle away then factory reset and flash official stock rom? Is that basically the same? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks

Please take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 for advice on how to ask for help.
Nobody can help you with the information you have given - which custom ROM? Which version of it? What kernel are you using? Which version of TriangleAway are you using? Describe accurately exactly what happens when you attempt to use triangle away - what do you expect to happen? What do you see?
If you can describe the problem in detail, people can help you.

Are you booting in recovery after resetting? Cause that will increase the counter again.
After resetting do not use triangle away again to check nor boot in recivery.
Just use download mode to see if it worked.

Use stock kernel and stock recovery, otherwise you'll always get flash counter 1
As above said you need to use stock recovery and kernel to reset counter, otherwise you have to use play store version of triangle away with option to reset at every boot.

[Q] The easiest way to restore the phone back to unroored and default rom state ?

I want to sell my Note 2 (International version). And I'm not sure what my friends did to my phone as it has been rooted and probably the bootloader has also been tampered with.I require the easiest way to return it back to normal as it came when I bought it.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Simply go to sammobile.com and download a stock ROM. Then flash it through ODIN, after that root device and install Triangle Away app and reset counter to Zero.
Next step is to either reflash the rom through ODIN or do a factory reset through settings.
What you will be doing is resetting the binary count, flashing stock recovery and stock rom.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
TriangleAway first and then flash a Stock ROM.
If your phone state is still Custom just do a Factory reset.
I did as you said but after updating my phone OTA the system says my device is modified
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Even with a Factory reset?
You cannot have FOTA if your status is "Modified".
After the factory reset it was back to normal. But after when I OTA it it said the device was modified

Next time try to upgrade via Odin

here is the perfect solution
You need to reset counter after flashing stock rom, here steps for you
-root with cf auto root(method 1 on my guide)
-Use triangle away to reset counter
-reboot device normally before checking counter.
-check counter after 10min
-if it is fine, uninstall triangle
-open supersu setting - full unroot
-factory reset

warranty void

will flashing the rom void my warranty?
something like flash count in there or something?
without rooting how u will get cwm recovery ?
and rooting will result in warranty void...
sent from Samsung Galaxy Grand CM10.1
You can revert to official to claim warranty using Triangle Away, then flash official ROM. Then everything will be reset to official.
To use Triangle Away your phone must be rooted.
Flashing a Stock ROM using Odin will not void your warranty.
Flashing a custom recovery and then flashing a custom ROM will increase your binary counter and hence void your warranty.
If you are unaware of the terminologies that I used, please use Google to understand them.

In order to claim back your warranty. First run Triangle Away to reset the bin counter on your rooted ROM. Then flash Official ROM through ODIN. Remember after flashing Official ROM, go into recovery mode to reset to factory settings. Then your device will become Official again.

Yes you may flash the stock ROM even without using Triangle Away, but you binary counter will be greater than zero. To reset it back to zero, u need to use triangle away just like rejocie001 said before you flash stock ROM for warranty claims.
