warranty void - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

will flashing the rom void my warranty?
something like flash count in there or something?

without rooting how u will get cwm recovery ?
and rooting will result in warranty void...

You can revert to official to claim warranty using Triangle Away, then flash official ROM. Then everything will be reset to official.
To use Triangle Away your phone must be rooted.

Flashing a Stock ROM using Odin will not void your warranty.
Flashing a custom recovery and then flashing a custom ROM will increase your binary counter and hence void your warranty.
If you are unaware of the terminologies that I used, please use Google to understand them.

In order to claim back your warranty. First run Triangle Away to reset the bin counter on your rooted ROM. Then flash Official ROM through ODIN. Remember after flashing Official ROM, go into recovery mode to reset to factory settings. Then your device will become Official again.

Yes you may flash the stock ROM even without using Triangle Away, but you binary counter will be greater than zero. To reset it back to zero, u need to use triangle away just like rejocie001 said before you flash stock ROM for warranty claims.

Triangle away app will tell you flash count also with go into Odin mode....but U can't get triangle by flashing a radio, it's only from flashing a non stock kernel in Odin only....mobile Odin or recovery won't trigger triangle

[Q] can triangle away set your device to be returned for warranty?

I am at a loss as Triangle away can set your counter back to zero and remove the triangle icon. My question is how would I use it to return the device for warranty or is it more just to get rid of the triangle icon? I am asking because its a Root app and doesn't just rooting your phone period void the warranty? if their is a way to use this app so i can do a warranty return I would LOVE TO KNOW. Since this is a root app I am thinking i would have to somehow use one of the non trip counter rooters to root to a stock rom. Please bear with me as this is my first root.
Double check with someone who's done it before but I think u use the app to reset the counter and then use Odin to flash a stock rom. The stock rom should take away root and official roms don't trip counter in Odin so u don't need triangle away a second time

Yes sir... If you are going to return it use triangle away then flash stock firmware in Dev section thru Odin. That will give you stock recovery, rom. A member theexel has a nice thread given you step by step. All set after that!

Please take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 for advice on how to ask for help.
Nobody can help you with the information you have given - which custom ROM? Which version of it? What kernel are you using? Which version of TriangleAway are you using? Describe accurately exactly what happens when you attempt to use triangle away - what do you expect to happen? What do you see?
If you can describe the problem in detail, people can help you.

Thanks for your information. i tried it and still faced same problem
Are you booting in recovery after resetting? Cause that will increase the counter again.
After resetting do not use triangle away again to check nor boot in recivery.
Just use download mode to see if it worked.

Use stock kernel and stock recovery, otherwise you'll always get flash counter 1
As above said you need to use stock recovery and kernel to reset counter, otherwise you have to use play store version of triangle away with option to reset at every boot.

Warrant Voided at Flash Counter = 1 ?

After flashing twrp, rooting, and flashing a rom my counter is at 1 even though i used the guide that said it would not trip the counter.
The counter stays at 1 even when flashing more things through recovery.
I read somewhere that if the flash counter is at 1 the warranty is not voided, and only if it is more than 1 it is voided. is this true?
Ive called samsung but they were giving me some weird answers and they had no idea what they were talking about.
Use triangle away app.

yes i understand this, but i was asking if the warranty is voided when the flash counter is >1 or >0 ?
Since we got updated to jb, the way the counter works changed. If I remember right, it will always show 1 if you have a custom recovery or kernel installed.
I keep stock recovery and use Mobile Odin for my flashing needs.
If you need to, just reset with triangle away and reflash stock firmware.

Technically, yes it voids your warranty. But if you're worried about that you may not want to root to begin with as that also voids it.

Quick question about Triangleaway

So i want to root my note 2 but do i have to flash the Triangleaway right away or later on when i want go back to stock i can do it then ?
Triangle away is the app to reset the flash counter in samsung devices.no need to use triangle away for rooting.it will just reset the number of times you flashed the firmware to zero.

Yep.but if you want warranty you should reset the flash counter before going to service centre.that's how they see how many times you flashed firmware.

thanks a lot, and btw how do you install the twrp recovery ,?
Download goo from the market and install from menu button.
FYI..resetting counter doesnt revert your rooted phone back to stock. After running triangle away you still need to unroot using SuperSu then factory reset n stock recovery. If you skip unroot and factory reset steps it will show 0 count but status will show customized when you go to download mode.
