I have root my E988 using root method described here.
Then I wandering around the hidden menu 3845#*988#,
And I found in LG RCT menu (near bottom of the list)
there is notifications that my phone has rooted.
What's interesting, this status is persistent even when I unroot the phone.
Not sure if it will be gone if I do factory reset or even reflash the original LG ROM.
Does your phone shows similar effect too?
Yeah...mine does the same..(e980) not a big deal...
Guess you have to flash the phone instead of just unrooting....

I received the OTA ZVB update today, and I tried to install it using the standard OTA procedure. The device started applying the update, but it failed at about a quarter of the way through (the icon turned to a tipped over Android with a red triangle) at which point the phone rebooted and no changes were made.
I am rooted, and I have done the shutter fix (I deleted the camera_click.ogg and turned the forced shutter off in the build.prop). Besides that I haven't changed any system files. I tried replacing both files with original copies, and the update still fails. Is there anything I'm missing when it comes to updating to Jelly Bean? I was pretty sure you can update on top of root (although root will be lost) or am I mistaken and need to unroot to apply the update? Like I said, the only modifications I have done are 1. Rooting 2. build.prop edit 3. Deleted camera_click.ogg. I have reverted the build.prop and the camera_click.ogg.
Is anybody else having this problem? I searched and didn't find anything similar.
Any help would be appreciated, and if possible I would prefer not to factory reset because I have apps and things I would like to keep (I could probably back them up with Titanium though); but if that is the only option I would consider.
[You never said if you were unlocked or not, but this might be an option for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38558967&postcount=1
Theres a link from there to a stock zvb zip if you can use it. I'm not too sure you're gonna be able to save your stuff.
edit. If I were you, I'd unlock, run the stock zvb zip, and call it good. It's probably your best option
Ive had the same issue, tried everything including unroot. ended up reseting phone and reverting back to zv7 using lgnpst and updating software that way and it worked fine.
This is what I decided to do

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. So far so good, I just finished installing the ZV9 update so one more to go. I'm crossing my fingers that this will work. Also, interestingly enough I didn't lose any of my files which was a huge plus!
I recently rooted my phone and unlocked the boot loader and all that was fine. My phone worked fine after that. I decided to try out a mod for the dotview case, and installed it and it wouldn't work properly so i decided to delete it. First off i removed the mod from the phone's internal storage but it still stayed on the phone. So i decided to do a factory reset. After i did the reset however, i went through all the start-up steps, but once the phone booted up all the software buttons were gone, and i couldn't access the pull down notification shade. Also my background was completely black and wouldn't change when i changed wallpapers. I'm not sure what to do to get the phone back to normal. I dont have any custom software installed besides a recovery.
If anyone could help me with my problem that would be great!
You must have deleted some system files. Factory reset will not restore these. You need to restore the system partition either from a stock nandroid backup or an ruu.
For future reference, never ever mod your phone unless you have a working backup.
Hi!
Little background: I've had about every Nexus device that has been released and I've rooted them all, changed all their custom recovery, installed XPosed and fiddled around with ROMs all manually using adb and fastboot (never used a 1-click tool). Of course this is all relatively easy, since you can just go back and flash the original image if you mess something up.
Problem is, I messed up the LG G Pad and I'm kinda stuck. What I did to mess it up:
- No way I'm going without root and there's no way to flash a custom recovery
- Install Kingroot apk, ran it, got root
- Install supersu-me to remove kingroot and replace with SuperSU (the one I usually use and install via a zip in custom recovery)
- Reboot device....bootloop
- Find out the magical sequence to factory reset, do it
- Same bootloop
So it's now just stuck at the LG Life's Good (no it's not!!!) and I can't seem to be able to get adb to work anywhere, I've also gone into download mode, but I can't do much in there.
I'm open to all suggestions
Solution found?
Have you found a solution yet?

Sadly my solution was to send it back. I said it stopped working after a Factory Reset, which isn't totally false. They accepted the RMA and I'm not going to root the new one I received.
Got stuck on my 495. Unfortunately I bought it second hand so I don't know if they will warranty my repair. err.... I'm hoping to find a solution. Did you ever try the LG Bridge software? I've had no luck with it.
PHP:
Hello. To root an lg-v497 simply use the mobile go trial on pc. To reset the tablet if it is in a boot loop simply use the lg support tool. You need to install the v500 driver for it to connect to the tablet. Factory reset will not fix it. You must re-flash firmware in this way.
Of course this may not be of use to many but it is what i have found works best. Hope this helps somebody. I went through that exact same scenario as you did, OP, and that is how i solved it. BUT now i am trying to find a way to crack the bootloader because i want to fix or get rid of 5.0.
Any Chance you could put links to the support tool and the driver? If I have KingRoot on already, should I restart or just uninstall before rooting with Mobile Go?
My account is apparently too new to post the links but just google the lg mobile usb driver and go to lg support page for the tool
To do a fresh flash you go to update recovery in the top menu when connected. You may have to fiddle with it a bit, good luck.
Flash it before using mobilego. Kingroot is a plague and you should get rid of it first.
I rooted my att LG g pad x 10 with kingroot and everything was working well until I ran the su-me software to remove the extra apps kingroot added to my device. I looks like the sume app got about 75% of the way through before finally freezing. After rebooting I can now only see the clock and the virtual buttons at the bottom of the screen. I tried to use the lg tool to download the firmware and reflash the device but it says Im up to date and wont reflash it, How do I wipe this back to stock and start over Im sure this is because supersu and king root had conflicts. Is there a way to get the att firmware and force it to reimage the device?

You could follow this thread to restore your tablet.
That's a pretty complicated fix. I'd try a factory reset in the stock recovery just in case to start with.

I need the firmware to restore the backup. I have no problem performing the restore but I cant find the firmware they do everything OTA, If you can show me where the firmware is Id owe you. Im going to try to return the tablet but its got king root on it figures the one screen you can get to is settings and installed apps and since kingroot is a system app I cant remove before returning.

This thread links to a kitkat kdz. It resizes some partitions though. To get your full storage back you have to follow the procedure in that first link.
It's the only full firmware package I know of for the v410. Since you're on the lollipop bootloader it's the only fix I know.
i used that KDZ to fix my LG G Pad 10.1 -- and that s why I am now looking for an actual KDZ or the 10.1 -- that file left my 10.1 DEAD. DEAD. QSHUSB_BULK is what it shows now in the device manager and there is supposedly a fix -- but this forum is waaaaaay bad for these. Most software and help is NOT for the 10.1 -- be careful.
I am facing an issue with the display of my LG Gpad 8.3, running latest Android available for that model: 4.2.2.
Background
My issue appeared after installing an app which was not from the PlayStore. The app has no icon and can not be removed, that's why I am inclined to believe that in my case it is not an hardware issue (but I am not ruling it out completely).
Besides that, the unresponsive strip occurs exactly on the area where the confirmation dialog boxes for this OS appear.
What I have done so far
Luckily my tablet is not something I use daily. Most of the time it stays in the drawer and turned off. So I have no fear of losing any data in case of hard-reset, although I feel the malware might access my google account data.
Anyways, I tried to hard reset the tablet using the standard LG Support tool & key combinations.
The installation completes, but the "malware" remains in the system.
On top of that the `CSN`in `Settings` --> `About Phone` --> `Hardware Information` is broken. It shows all `0`.
Last resort
I think the only option I have is to use a "dirty way" of wiping the phone and reinstalling the OS.
What should I use in that case? What is a failproof wiping and reverting to stock for the Gpad 8.3?
Or, do you have a solution for this exact problem?
Additional Info
- My phone is not rooted because I reverted it back to stock couple of months ago, due to camera issues.
Hi! Which variant of the G Pad 8.3 do you have? VK810, V500 or V510? If you have the VK810, follow the third link in my signature below titled "[VK810.4G] [altev] most reliable way to root and install a custom recovery".
You don't *have* to root, but a portion of the instructions will guide you through flashing the 10B KDZ (4.2.2). I recommend flashing with the CSE option, which will also wipe internal storage - so be aware you need to move anything you want to keep to your MicroSD card. Hopefully whatever malware you have didn't infect anything your MicroSD card, since Jellybean's MicroSD card handling isn't as secure. You can always flash a different VK810 KDZ from my repository if you prefer, but if you want to be rooted it easier to do it on 10B, then put TWRP on and then flash (for example) my 36B (5.0.2) stock ROM.
If you don't have the VK810, do *NOT* flash the files I link to. If there are KDZs available for your variant, you can flash the ones made for yours instead using the same tool.
