Anyone able to get the netflix app off the LG Revolution?

Ohh, I want it too!
Hopefully this means we will be getting it soon (hacked or official). Apparently, you can have up to 6 devices linked to one Netflix account. So I will be able to watch using my wife's Netflix account.
Please oh please oh please!
I hope soon, I've been waiting fooorrreverrrr for this!

yeah, sucks having to tether to an ipod touch to get your netflix content while away from a Wi Fi source. Might be the only reason why I haven't sold my ipod actually, the netflix app.
I would be happy with just a Netflix app that solely provides the opportunity to search for movies and manage your queues, not for watching movies on the G2 (although that would be sweet).

Care to share which one is actually worth using? I've tried a couple and they're not really good. I'm looking for one designed by Netflix, not some 3rd party developer.
as far as i know android hasnt received love from netflix due to security and piracy concerns. Dated November 13th (short article BTW)
http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/13/netflix-headed-to-select-android-devices-early-next-year/#
androinica claims they have seen the Netflix app on an LG Revolution. But where can I get it for my G2?
I've about had it with Netflix and their crappy movie line up anyways. They charge you $8.99 a month (which is fair) but then they offer so few good available and the others are dvd only. Then they "fix" this issue by charging you more dvds out at a time to make up for it. Its just about screwing over folks and milking them for the $20, 30, or 40 plan. I wish they would just upload all digital streaming and offer dvd to those old fashioned folks who actually want it. Plus, their reasoning for not offering their app on android is ludicious.... I hope something better comes along soon
Damn peoples. You gotta be patient. How are people going to pull and share the Netflix app when they just figured it out recently that one exists for Android. I mean don't get me wrong, I want the app as much as the next person but its not going to magically appear. Let the Android community do its magic. I don't even think people even got to mess with the phone yet let alone the Netflix app.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
History of android phones has shown that apps from pre-release dumps and leaks from upcoming phones as well as preview phones have found their way to xda before a phones release. It isn't too far fetched nor unreasonable to have a little expectation that it may have happened or will in this case

I was under the impression that one of the main reason Netflix has not come to Android is because of the backbone of Netflix streaming, which is M$ Silverlight

Its not netflix - its pressure from hollywood and the studio execs for both the lack of streaming titles and the android app/"drm" concerns. And let's not forget that apple has their tentacles deep in hollywood cuz of their involvement with pixar and apple tv (jobs was the ceo of pixar).
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yeah, that sounds about right about the lack of complete library streams. Other the other matter, I'm sure ports will be on the way. The only issue I foresee is linking the account to the device if its ported. Might be a pain to get the port properly to avoid that issue...
I'd greatly appreciate a netflix app for my g2. I'm jealous of the iphones netflix app. -__-

I am personally inclined to believe it has more to do with Apple's influence/blackmail than the pirating issue. It seems far fetched that someone would resort to a phone stream to pirate movies or shows.
Just watching some Smallville... seen an LG Quantum, Samsung Focus, and a Samsung Omnia all on one episode... If I wasn't already hooked on WP7 then this episode would've made me fall in love with the UI.

I also saw some overly cheesy promotional use of WP7 in an episode of Hawaii Five 0 last night.

Shame really as they could construct better scenarios to show how useful the phone OS could be.
I've also seen them on Bones and Castle. Castle was rather fun as he's always used an iPhone before (and I believe after) this.

Yeah you would think Verizon would make their flagship app work with their flagship phone. But hey, at least they didn't screw up the release date of the 15th...
The NFL Mobile app doesn't work on the G-Nex? What the hell am I paying $10 a month for?
My 3 week old RAZR is sitting on eBay and it does something very important that the G-Nex doesn't. This is sad news.
Well at least my wife has a RAZR. I can watch it on hers.
I agree. This really pisses me off. I work out of town all the time and cant catch up on my NFL. I'm going to reactivate my Bionic and maybe return the Nexus if they don't resolve this quick. There are a bunch off apps that don't run or constantly crash. Verizon visual voicemail keeps crashing in the background also.
VZW states it is a 3rd party app

It's my understanding that -all- 4G phones, of which the G-Nex is included, are supposed to be able to use NFL Mobile for free. FWIW.

all my NFL apps are working fine on the GNex.
fantasy football
gamepass mobile
NFL app (this one lets you view scores and highlights and news and such)
so is there a different app you're trying to use?
ps: all apps from NFL enterprises.
The APP we use in the states lets us watch the games live, We get full covereage of the NFL network games (thursday, saturday, sunday, monday night games) and for the bulk of them we use Red Zone to let us watch all the good plays while they happen.
Any chance of being able to maybe.... tinker.... with the ini? maybe trick it into thinking that its something different or maybe its just an issue of screen size again. Similar to swypes issue?

It is a bummer that this doesn't work, but there seems to be a little self-contradiction here - a lot of complaints that Verizon GNex isn't a stock google phone, and then more complaints that they didn't do more to change the phone so that it would work with Verizon sponsored apps.
What the point of having two seperate devices. I really want to get the new Google TV set box and I've been wanting to be able to stream from my tablet and phone directly to the TV for a while now. Why not just either add Google TV to the q or add the q functions to Google TV. Now I'm going to have to get the Sony Google TV set box and nexus q.
Also, side questions. Does anyone know if you can stream movies on the phone/tablet to the nexus q if its stored on the device and not Google play?
Google is going after Sonos it seems. However, the Q is strange (requires a Android phone/tablet to control it) and over priced. I really don't see a huge market for it unless they drop the price by a few hundred dollars.
Aye, for that much cash, I'd have thought it'd have more GoogleTV like features, unless this is just a Trojan Horse into the living room and those things can be added later (though without an hdmi input, that'll be interesting to see how).
No, I admit, I just don't 'get it' as a device when a GTv will do the same stuff, plus more, just without the amp. There's something missing in all this it feels like.
That's kinda what I meant, but didn't say. $300 to just stream video and music from play store is kinda stupid. $300 for Google TV that can do it= awesome
$300
Running on Galaxy Nexus hardware.
Only streams YouTube, Google Play Videos/Music.
Runs 'Android' but seems to have no real use beyond the line immediately above this one.
According to the data we have so far (that above), the Nexus Q seems to me to be a failure of Google to have any real vision if they intend to get into our living rooms. Honestly? No applications, no Netflix, nothing. Just YouTube and Google Play music/videos? That's pathetic. For $300? That's not just pathetic, that's an insult.
That is, unless Google is hiding more functionality in their sleeve. Which, if they have any intelligence at all (which we know they do), they most certainly haven't shown everything they intend to do with it yet. Although I could be wrong...give me this great looking device running on solid hardware and the full functionality of Android on my TV with my phone/tablet as a remote? Yeah, I'll spend $300 on it. Leave it as displayed so far? No thanks.
No Hulu, no Netflix, no local steaming. No buyers.
The reason for the price being $299 is due to it being 100% made in the US.

kudos for making the device here. now all they need to do is make it a device I would want in the first place.

Tell that to Sonos. Unfortunately, this is a high end market and I'm not sure how it can work given it requires a Android ecosystem.
I agree with what everyone else has said. It'd be a hard sell to make since it doesn't (as of now) have any support for third parties such as Netflix and Pandora. However, Google has encouraged "hacking" the device... so maybe they will leave such capabilities to people such as XDA devs to really put this device to use? Kind of a stretch, but it could add utility to the device without Google having to officially sign on board with third parties?
I appreciate this is manufactured here in the US but boy oh boy.
I would really like to see my Logitech Revue get revamped, even though I only paid $120 for it at Best Buy to get that and the camera I would like to see it get some updates in features. (cough cough SKYPE support)
This thing though, I could see it being nice to have on your desk or something? I don't get the connecting it to a TV thing unless you plan on using a home theater system.
We'll wait and see.
but that thing in the video where all the people are in the kitchen talking and everyones picking songs for the Nexus Q to play, that would just be irritating. No don't touch it, you can look at it. Don't change my song please. Leave it the fck alone.
I bet it's going to be a hacker's delight. If it was priced a little more sensibly, I would have bought it.
What if this turns into the next generation GoogleTV by developers? Imagine running latest version of CM on your TV? Now, that $300 isn't looking so bad after all.
You better belive some developers are drooling over this great hardware. Cyanogen said so himself on G+. Let's wait and see......

So what I could gather from the press conference is that it's a galaxy nexus without the screen, cell capability, storage space... but a proper hdmi output and usb...
maybe if it could be hacked to run an operating system off a thumb drive? I love Google tv but the hardware is so slow and low on memory... I dunno, but the "to make it open to general hackability" statement does show promise.

if you were trying to "share" movies over your own home network, like watch movies that were on a home computer in another room, that would be easy. Stupid easy. Set your folder with movies as "shared" over the network, use something like BubbleUPnP player, or even XBMC for Android (quite a bit more complicated to set up, but Way Worth it, once you set up the library and shares) to browse and watch. (with XBMC, I woiuld set it up on the host sys, set up the libraries and metadata there for sharing over the network.)
if you are trying to "share" movies over the internet (from your home, I assume?), for you to watch when you were out at another location, well that's a hobby unto itself, and outside the scope of what you could expect here at XDA. Learning how to set up a "real" server (FTP, SMB/CIFS), takes time and (at least self-) education. People get paid to do that kind of stuff, right? Worth learning, if you have the time. But I don't have the time to even teach you the basics. There are no basics.
Not to mention most likely your bandwidth upstream from home, on most IPSs, is not very great. I wouldn't want to stream anything but standard definition vid files, And it might "kill" the internet use for anyone at home.
But for fun, here are some basic solutions and/or information for you to explore, get started. If you start to play around with networking, you'll quickly become a "computer genius" to family n friends. :

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9659/how-to-install-and-setup-windows-home-server/ (WHS is another fave, even though they dont "make" it anymore, it can still be found, and is a stupid easy way to "get started" in servers if you're comfortable in the Windows environment, I always recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to get into command line *nix kinda stuff, just wants to play around with a functional and easy way to have a server, works great, and completely instantly compatible, obviously, with any Win based PCs at home.)

I haven't been to a theater in 2 year's or so cause of that crap. Price is too high to go watch a movie that you miss half of from the rude idiots acting like they're sitting on their own couch and didnt just pay a small fortune to be there. I can't quite figure out why the prices have gotten so high its not like the theaters have gotten any nicer or more private. I could see a price increase if they weren't packing 200+ people in a 150'x150' room im seats where you're practically sitting on each others lap.

it's basic economics. wherein a business is not considered successful unless there is measurable Growth in profits to show to investors every year. (ie: "how can we squeeze more money from our customers while bringing production costs down/delivering less, and do it better than last year?") theaters have become the worst experience you can have for $15, hands down.
if it wasn't for IMAX, i wouldn't go to theaters at all. even then, at home i've got excellent surround sound, 55" screen. and i get to take pee breaks. and i make way better snacks than Regal. (you haven't lived until you've had my open-faced chopped steak and provolone sandwich)
and people wonder why i'm a verified, unrepentant, and proud pirate. over 700 movies in my collection, and counting. (not to mention TV seasons... and hundreds of thousands of songs...) that's why I maintain a robust server in my basement. any bit of my media collection is accessible by any terminal in the house.
call me a hypocrite if you like, but i never pirate software. and verbally slam those that do. *shrug*
