Yeah you would think Verizon would make their flagship app work with their flagship phone. But hey, at least they didn't screw up the release date of the 15th...

The NFL Mobile app doesn't work on the G-Nex? What the hell am I paying $10 a month for?
My 3 week old RAZR is sitting on eBay and it does something very important that the G-Nex doesn't. This is sad news.
Well at least my wife has a RAZR. I can watch it on hers.

I agree. This really pisses me off. I work out of town all the time and cant catch up on my NFL. I'm going to reactivate my Bionic and maybe return the Nexus if they don't resolve this quick. There are a bunch off apps that don't run or constantly crash. Verizon visual voicemail keeps crashing in the background also.

VZW states it is a 3rd party app
VZW Support @VZWSupport
@calKno This is a third-party application and we do not have an ETA of when it will be available on Nexus. ^LA

The app has certain approved devices that work with it.
I miss it only for the radio streams and the fieldview.

I never used it for the video, just the stats and to keep up with the game when I can't watch or listen to it.

I just don't understand why you would tie it to devices instead of just a Verizon account.

I guess it is a VZW "sponsored" app, so they limit to their phones and dropped the ball in having the developers prep it for SGN or ICS.

It's my understanding that -all- 4G phones, of which the G-Nex is included, are supposed to be able to use NFL Mobile for free. FWIW.

Yes....this is ridiculous. I was looking forward to streaming highlights and video. Now I can't even are a flipping score?
Several other apps not working as well.
I still love this thing though.

Not an issue of being free (which it is). Program doesn't even load up. Says device not yet supported.

I'm from the Netherlands and a great NFL fan.
all my NFL apps are working fine on the GNex.
fantasy football
gamepass mobile
NFL app (this one lets you view scores and highlights and news and such)
so is there a different app you're trying to use?
ps: all apps from NFL enterprises.

The APP we use in the states lets us watch the games live, We get full covereage of the NFL network games (thursday, saturday, sunday, monday night games) and for the bulk of them we use Red Zone to let us watch all the good plays while they happen.
Any chance of being able to maybe.... tinker.... with the ini? maybe trick it into thinking that its something different or maybe its just an issue of screen size again. Similar to swypes issue?

The same as game pass mobile
Only i pay a lot less since i life outside of the usa

It is a bummer that this doesn't work, but there seems to be a little self-contradiction here - a lot of complaints that Verizon GNex isn't a stock google phone, and then more complaints that they didn't do more to change the phone so that it would work with Verizon sponsored apps.

Hopefully this means we will be getting it soon (hacked or official). Apparently, you can have up to 6 devices linked to one Netflix account. So I will be able to watch using my wife's Netflix account.
Please oh please oh please!
I hope soon, I've been waiting fooorrreverrrr for this!

yeah, sucks having to tether to an ipod touch to get your netflix content while away from a Wi Fi source. Might be the only reason why I haven't sold my ipod actually, the netflix app.
I would be happy with just a Netflix app that solely provides the opportunity to search for movies and manage your queues, not for watching movies on the G2 (although that would be sweet).

Care to share which one is actually worth using? I've tried a couple and they're not really good. I'm looking for one designed by Netflix, not some 3rd party developer.
as far as i know android hasnt received love from netflix due to security and piracy concerns. Dated November 13th (short article BTW)
http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/13/netflix-headed-to-select-android-devices-early-next-year/#
androinica claims they have seen the Netflix app on an LG Revolution. But where can I get it for my G2?
I've about had it with Netflix and their crappy movie line up anyways. They charge you $8.99 a month (which is fair) but then they offer so few good available and the others are dvd only. Then they "fix" this issue by charging you more dvds out at a time to make up for it. Its just about screwing over folks and milking them for the $20, 30, or 40 plan. I wish they would just upload all digital streaming and offer dvd to those old fashioned folks who actually want it. Plus, their reasoning for not offering their app on android is ludicious.... I hope something better comes along soon
Damn peoples. You gotta be patient. How are people going to pull and share the Netflix app when they just figured it out recently that one exists for Android. I mean don't get me wrong, I want the app as much as the next person but its not going to magically appear. Let the Android community do its magic. I don't even think people even got to mess with the phone yet let alone the Netflix app.

History of android phones has shown that apps from pre-release dumps and leaks from upcoming phones as well as preview phones have found their way to xda before a phones release. It isn't too far fetched nor unreasonable to have a little expectation that it may have happened or will in this case

Its not netflix - its pressure from hollywood and the studio execs for both the lack of streaming titles and the android app/"drm" concerns. And let's not forget that apple has their tentacles deep in hollywood cuz of their involvement with pixar and apple tv (jobs was the ceo of pixar).
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yeah, that sounds about right about the lack of complete library streams. Other the other matter, I'm sure ports will be on the way. The only issue I foresee is linking the account to the device if its ported. Might be a pain to get the port properly to avoid that issue...
I'd greatly appreciate a netflix app for my g2. I'm jealous of the iphones netflix app. -__-

I am personally inclined to believe it has more to do with Apple's influence/blackmail than the pirating issue. It seems far fetched that someone would resort to a phone stream to pirate movies or shows.

Is not possible! The loop hole that was used to get the Verizon NFL app to work on Sprint was sealed off and ever since then, is been a NO NO.......
Not to start an entire thread about the NFL lockout BUT I don't think there'll be any football this year anyways.....you should try to find an arena football app..hahaha
i think there will be a season... but on that note if it is in fact not possible does anyone know a way to get nfl network....i cant get it where i live from cable ...thats the main reason i want the app

Well that's the thing dude.....if someone was to crack the NFL Network app on Verizon, you still need the Vcast subscription that's required to watch streaming games and I don't think there's anyway to get around that without committing fraud or breaking some sort of rule which could either get you ban from XDA or possibly fine by Verizon or some crap.......
Why don't you just try to catch games via J Player?? It works wonders if you're on WiFi......3G is still good but a bit choppy at times

or you can get a sling box and a sling box app for your evo. works great a little bit in the on the pricey side, but worth it if there is football.

U complained that ur phone was choppy when u hard booted it and now with angry birds. U need to take ur phone back! I've been playing r-type non-stop and it has no lag or choppiness and that game has more active things on screen at once more then angry birds, it plays so beautifully on this phone!

I haven't tried angry birds yet, but my home button is laggy like that... I haven't hard reset the phone though...
I just tried Angry Birds and it seems to play well. It doesn't have the zip at the beginning of a stage like the other phone had in your example, but it feels normal to me.
The home button "lag" is present on mine but that feels normal as well.
Is anyone using another launcher? Is the lag present with the home button? I'm still using touchwiz.

I'm using Launcher Pro and that is really fast. Still a little lag when opening apps like Gmail and stuff like that but getting around the phone is still really fast. And opening the gallery is really fast too.
Try Launcher pro its fast! Plus you can still use the samsung widgets.
Hope this helps!

I think most are trolls. I play angry birds fine. I hope people know because it's a different processor they automatically look for problems. The exynos processor is only excels in its gpu department. My rooted my touch 4g on miui doesn't even lag. Launcher pro hasn't been updated since gingerbread causing lag of app drawer and when accessing apps. The reason why home button lags is because samsung set so many combinations for the home button. It was most likely programmed bad.

I think if you do go in to exchange it again explain the situation and then in store test it out for lag. Better yet if you know anyone that has the phone without this issue bring them along to have backup proof. It shouldn't lag like that, I'm testing out Rio just for you right now and it's smooth and flawless. Is there a way to check the processor speed (actual)? Because I have noticed worse battery life than a lot of other users, maybe it's running at a higher clock speed (or the actual rated one) and yours isn't? I know this sounds crazy but maybe it would be worth it to just check... I'm just trying to help you out

Well I tried angry birds and it's super zippy... MUCH faster than my Desire ever was ; )
After doing some looking it seems the home button lag is due to the phone waiting a bit for a double-tap on the home key to start the voice command app.... so it's working as intended.
I'm still wondering why out of all three carriers this particular version was inside of a plexiglass box during their presentation at the end of August...

The big security flaw is using your phone on ANY cell phone service. They track who you call, how long your calls are, who you txt, what the txt is, what cell towers you're connected to, when you pay your bill, with what credit card or check, also your name, address, oh and they know your phone number!

I guess there is some consumer appeal, but really, why buy a Nexus if you have no interest in an unlocked phone? My decision to buy a Nexus was far less about firmware updates than it was about my right to own the hardware that I paid for.
To be honest, I didn't read the thread (shame on me), but these topics puzzle me. To each his own.

I'll root when CM9 hits beta or if a good stable nightly.
Yes, but so far only to be able to restore app data (ie Angry Birds) from my old phone. I'm totally cool with the built-in ICS disable/freeze feature for the apps I don't want, I think that's an extremely fair compromise over rooting and deleting the apk/so files.
Not too concerned about Wallet yet, we'll see how that pans out if it's something we'll need to root for or just something we can head to the Market and install without any issue. I would like to try it out and have zero confidence that the competing ISIS thing won't completely suck in comparison, so if root is needed, root it is!

If you want a private conversation phones are not the way to go. Back in the day we had to hard tap your line for LE with warrant. Now with CALEA and digital switches they can monitor traffic anywhere anytime w/o warrant.
Sometimes we put lines on speaker all day to monitor for noise. If your neighbor had wet line issue or cross talk we might monitor your line for noise. I worked in a 900 number telephone switch in California we have to check lines for "traffic" or people talking before working on them. It was awkward. Now I can monitor phone calls from my computer. Of coarse I don't unless it is for work I don't want to end up in Guantanamo.
Wow how off topic WTF happened?

Sirius-XM radio app terminates

The Sirius XM app seems to always kill itself when another app launches. Is there a way to change the priority of the app, so the system doesn't pick it as the first app to close? Asking Sirius is like asking a brick wall, plus they are probably working on the 2.0 app now and won't make changes to the legacy app.
Thanks!

My work phone is an iphone but I have limited data I can use on it. I've messed around with 2.0 and the rewind and fast forward are great. Is there news as to when we can expect 2.0 to come to Android? I usually flip between Pandora and Sirius while driving.
The SiriusXM app has worked like this from the start. On my Evo always had this problem, and now same thing with the Nexus. The early rumor on the 2.0 app was that it would take about 4-6 months after the iphone version. (They are just terribly slow at providing updates esp to the android version)

Considering they barely support their radios anymore, you would think they would sink more development $$$ into their mobile apps.
I'm not a very happy subscriber.
I called to complain when my renewal was up, got the year for half price and free internet. I also heard the 6 month rumor for the new Android version.
