HELP
I just f*^$d up my DZ with wrong engineering hboot
Now it wont boot (nothing works: POWER, POWER+VOL-, except POWER+VOL+ vibretes 3 times and orange led is flashing "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM")
So is there any chance to resurrect my phone?
PLS I dont want to give it to regenersis service, because i waied 2months for touchscreen replacement
sorry but either sending it in for repairs or jtag are the only ways to fix this...
Damn
Riff box with DZ jtag cable costs 150$ (about 500PLN on Polish Allegro)
Its more expensive than new motherboard for DZ
Can I make roff box in home?
Or just soldier some parallel pins from PC to mu DZ mtherboard?
You could get to work with an arduino and a serial port on PC, then solder points to logic board, probably run ya about 50-60$
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
50-60$?
its still 200PLN, this is better than 150$ (350PLN)
I saw some models like paperduino (http://lab.guilhermemartins.net/2009/05/06/paperduino-prints/)
or AVTduino (http://sklep.avt.pl/p/pl/57409/avtduino+-+starter+kit.html)
Paperduino is about 30-40PLN, but AVTduino cost 90PLN
Still better than 500PLN for riffbox
IMO I thing you'd be better off trying your luck on eBay or some local online bazar or something... get a broken phone for 40-50$ and replace broken parts.

Hello, does someone have the jtag pinout for the uni?
Or at least the circuit diagram...
I thought the whole point of jtag was that it was a standardised interface connector:
http://www.interfacebus.com/Design_Connector_JTAG_Bus.html
or am I misunderstanding your question?
Cheers,
yes, I know what is jtag but probably my question was misplaced.
what I would know is where are jtag testpoints on universal.
my phone is bricked and the only hope of resurrection is restore the bootloader through jtag
ah right, I'm with you now. have you checked out the universal reference manual? is it mentioned in there?
-edit- no just checked doesnt appear to have any mention or picture of one.
sadly true: the service manual doesn't mention it.
does someone has got schematics for the universal?
sigh! i'm going to believe that my uni will be forever a nice paperweight...
any news?
Hello, I'm still stuck with my uni bricked. Anyone have new suggestions or jtag pinout?
Thanks!
I payed about 50USD to have my bootloader chip replaced here in China.
cant find any other solution for the same brick here. I'v heard someone here fixed his dead bootloader by jtag DOC reflash.good luck.
Hi champro, then does you have got the bootloader chip replaced and not reflashed?
Does you could contact someone to get jtag pinout for the universal?
Thanks a lot.
Any success for bootloader solutions ? I also have a bricked universal.
Thanks
Still nothing...
Hi, I haven't debricked my uni yet. But in the meantime I'm looking for a dead mainboard (or a whole dead phone) in the way I'll could desolder the cpu to trace the jtag pins. When I'll have this pinout I'll count on the support of this forum to find a pal that will dump a working phone to restore mine.

we are allready doing this no need to break two phones
Great!!!!!!!!
Fantastic! May I participate? I'm a average experienced user with jtag interfaces and a dead M5000 to work on!
Please is a lot of time that I'm waiting for the jtag pinout!
ok Lt.Cmdr.Ivan is going to trace the JTAG points from under the CPU of his dead Universal, last I heard he was about to put it in a toaster to get it off
You say you have JTAG experiance? When we find the points could you work out the best/only method etc to fix a broken Universal
Yes, I've already debricked a toshiba e740 pda last year. A complete success!
The best way to desolder a bga is to use a heater gun like those used to remove paint from walls. It is very cheap 15~20$. If you aim to the motherboard with this gun, surface mounted components literally fly away or fall down if is it in vertical position.
I'll wait anxiously for news!!!
i suppose who can afford a digital multimeter, can afford a hot-air soldering station as well. (well under $100 now)
anyway, you can just use a 300W infrared bulb and several hours and the work is done as well.
just pick off the plastic items before applying this heat.
Hi, any news? The number of bricked universal is growing!!!
roglioWhat software you used and what adapter LPT (wigler )or another?
If you know the points jtag as you will write in DOC (DiskOnChip) SPL and IPL ?
Just fyi progress ont he JTAG project can be found here:
The Universal JTAG Project
We found them
Hi everybody,
Six months ago ive purchased in store htc desire.
I rooted the phone and everything was fine.
Five months later i decided to renew my rom and did again, but something was going worng and my device completely dead. No charging no recovery nothing.
I have a warranty for one year and i gave my device to this store where i've bought it.
One month their technic gyus in lab tried to revive him but unsuccessfully.
In the store iwas told that they connected with j-tag and didn't success.
There is a voltage or something like that in motherboard, but no bootloader. There is something problematic to software, but no hardware, therefore it's not under a warranty. The guy from the store said to me that he tried with j-tag and other methods, but no signals of life.
For replacing motherboard they want 350 dollars.Of course it will solve my problem, but 350 dollars
How can i revive my phone? and j-tag really must to help in this way if only boot is not ok and motherboard is good? So why they didn't success in this case?

You can find here people you can contact that have jtag boxes: http://www.jtagbox.com/riff-jtag-bo...-bricked-phone-riff-box-owners-list/#comments.
If the tech guys told you that jtag didn't help, I doubt that anybody here can do something for you. Maybe the freezer mthod might work for you, but it is an extremely long shot.
Thank you for your reply
1.Tell me if i can trust to these people in contact list that you gave?
2.Can you write what is the freezer method and what's the difference between j-tag and this method?
Thanks

1) Dunno. Those are people who are listed with desire jtag equipment. You said that in the service they've tried repairing your phone with jtag, which I think is the lowest level repair. There is no software solution to your problem. In your situation you have the definition of a bricked phone.
2) Put your phone in the freezer, wrapped in a plastic bag for 5 minutes. It's supposed to to make the circuit board contract and thus braking any short circuits you might have on your motherboard or reset some chip.
Truth be told it's an extremely long shot, I'm only speculating.
Hi ,
My SGH-i927 was working quite happily sat on charge connected to a USB cable on my PC, I left work with the phone in my pocket and when I came to use it a couple of hours later it was completely unresponsive.
It will not respond to power button at all
It shows no activity when on charge either via wall wart or USB, it does not show up as connected to the PC when USB cable plugged in.
I've tried removing the battery for a couple of minutes and also a different battery with long and short presses of the Power Button whiles't holding volume with various combinations there of.
This is not as a result of my flashing anything it just stopped, the threads I've seen using search all seem to be able to get to a boot screen of some description mine is completely dead.
Phone was Unlocked / rooted / backed up + efs backup / running 4.0.4 UCLJ3 Lite Kernel
Anyone have a suggestion on how I might be able to resurrect it or should I put it in a long ship and set fire to it ?
Please note I imported this Phone into the UK
I approached a local SAMSUNG service center and they won't touch it as it's from outside the EU. - Further more on discussing the nature of the problem I was informed it's probably a hardware fault due to IC or Fuse or combination of them. As these are surface mounted components they wouldn't be repairable by normal means and they wouldn't even give me a number for an independent phone repair.
Can anyone know of and can give me the contact details of a repair person based in the UK who'd be willing to look at it ?

Thankyou,
I appreciate the time taken to respond and especially the offer, however although not completely inept with a soldering iron changing the motherboard may well be beyond my expertise, but I'd be willing to give it a go if all else fails.
I have managed to locate another repair center reportedly having Samsung Qualified technicians. Initial communications seemed to suggest they could deal with the assessment which they provide for free. I have sent the handset to them and am now awaiting their report.
If things do not work out with the repair center, I would like to contact you to discuss your offer further.
Regards
Response from repair center - beyond economical repair - but no further detail.
I think I'll call it quits now and just invest in a new handset.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2KF0YV4051 $145 brand new.
I might be willing to part with my own for a reasonable price too, but it wouldn't be less than $100. Has an extended battery. Probably better to get a brand new one.
Howdy all<
First, I swear I've searched high and low for this answer. I've been to the xda threads with guides to disassembly and reassembly and followed the links to OEM part retailers and come up with zilch.
So, I have a bricked GT-N7105 with suspected sudden death syndrome. It acted screwy for a few days with random reboots etc and then, one day, I took it out of my pocket and it was dead. No boot, no charge, no lights, no nothing. I sent it to Samsung who (classic) are claiming liquid damage and want to charge me $588 Australian to fix it. I am unprepared to pay this. I know that the chip should be covered by extended warranty but this is voided by the supposed liquid damage. I will fight them on it but am not optimistic about the outcome.
So, assuming that I'm not giving my money to Samsung or the company that they outsource their repairs to, can anyone point me towards a link for a store selling replacement motherboards for the N7105?
Furthermore, I haven't managed to find specific information on the motherboard model number for the N7105: is it the same as the N7100 or any of the other Note II variants? Anything that can widen my search criteria will be helpful.
Thanks all. Love your work.:good:
Anyone?

try ebay?
If your phone has suffered SDS,then only emmc is damaged, not the whole motherboard. You can get it(emmc) replaced from a third party repair shop.
Gud luck.
1st of all, a motherboard is about 200-250$, and you can repair it at a normal smartphone repair shop, screw samsung.
request photos of the "liquid damage"
i'd take this to the court.
When i destroyed the partitions on my old galaxy player 5.0, they said it was corrosion from some sticky liquid lol, and they eventually gave me a replacement (probably because i figured out they were lying)
+1,Its the same old story they tell to everyone...here in india too .So if you are sure that its not damaged by liquid, just stick to your point and be stern in your approach while dealing with these so called 'technicians'...
Gud luck.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
Wow. Thanks all! That's all really useful information. I now have it back so I think I'm going to try replaceing the emmc. Will update the thread then.

there you go http://www.etradesupply.com/samsung/galaxy-models/samsung-note-ii-lte-n7105.html?limit=all
N7105 is totally different to the N7100 internally so the mainboard will not physically fit onto the chassis if you put the wrong one in ..as the chassis behind the screen which carries the mainboard is totally different ... so get the the correct one if you are going to change the mainboard

Please consider me Novice in JTag field, Do we need different boxes for different devices, i have seen several videos on Jtag,I have sent mail to their US distributor bcoz unfortunately we do not have any in Canada. What's the success rate on these devices ?? Do we have any instructional videos or any support how to use RIFFBOX , just want to make sure if i would be able to use it before i make my order
I have just realised that you don't tell us if you have warranty... if you have it then use it. Cause the way I've told you before probably will void the warranty.
----
I don't know how it works in your country but here in mexico, there are several External Service Centers (not official) they repare anything, softbrick, hardware brick, change the case cover, dialpad, etc. but it has a cost. If you buy the box just to repair your phone I think it will cost a lot of money to you since this boxes works with a lot of models of different brands (they are expensive) and you need technical knowledge about how to work with them.
In my case, the Service Center first tried with riffbox (cheaper and fast way) and it worked to turn on the phone in a couple of minutes, it was indicating there was bootloader broken so it worked when tried to rapair it but since my emmc memory was kinda buggy, it died the same day, so i left it again to warranty on the SC and they then tried with jtag this way they told me is like the "hard reset" since wipe and make again the partition system and install all the stuff, now works pretty well but they make a warning to me abut future deads because the final solution and the real one that needs my phone is to change the motherboard (they don't change just the emmc).
But if your emmc is ok, they probably just need to use riffbox maybe jtag but your phone will surely be ok again.
the cost for the reparation should be about 30-50 USD
If you don't know where is one of this external service centers on your town, try searching on google about riffbox, jtag service center in -your town-.

Thanks a lot for this much knowledge about this product. I always help my friend fixing their phones and some of my good friends pay me for that. Its kind of part time job for me. I am just crazy to try something new in this field so I am not worrying about money part right now. That is why I am just seeking information how much it will cost and from where i can get information how to use this box. I guess we need lot of new things to learn before i start using it. Please let me know whatever u know about it, I am gathering knowledge from google too and other websites , Your help so far is very much appreciated. Please let me know what else you know about these riffbox or jtag ?
