same here, takes ages sometimes... b114
Mine sucks too. Last time it did more than 60 secs to lock in an open field (no buildings nearby). Also, it seems when you move to another city and have the phone rebooted, the locking time gets higher.
Mine was horrible for two days. No lock during a 40min run with no buildings nearby to block the signal. Nowadays i get a lock in two days and theres loads of satellites when checking the gps-stats. I guess it has to be a software issue that got fixed during a reboot(forced reboot) or factory reset.

hi there
i got a problem.
my gps does not show my correct position.
google maps and other gps progs show my position always at the same position, but thats not where i am
the shows position is 20-30 metres NE to my actual position.
someboda told me tu use the htc gps tool.
i don'T know what i really can do with it, so i made screenshots and hope you guys can held me.
i wanna use a geotracker and my exact position would be great tu have...
i got a htc touch hd with orig htc rom - german
please help me, advice beside this prog (registry, or whatever) are very welcome
thank you.
i tried this:
And always manage to fix it in 4 steps:
1. Erase GPS data using the HTC tool, wait 30 secs, all satellites should vanish
2. Cold start the GPS, wait 30 secs
3. Power down the phone, power back up
4. Start the HTC GPS tool again and wait approximately 2 minutes for the gps to fix. If you screwed up steps 1-3 then after starting the tool you will get a pattern of satellites. The screen must be clear and it should start looking for satellite 02 (searching for almanac)
but doesn't really fix my problem.
it'S better now, but not ok. what i don'T get is, that the phone always shows the same position. it's not that it shows a position 10 meters this direction, next time 15 metres an other direction...
it's always the same balcony from one of the neighbourhouses...
edit: i founf those 4 steps hier on the forum..
Can any one help me
i am not getting any text's untill i send one and then they all come in like a flood
it is starting to get a pain cos i am missing some important texts's
how often do you power cycle your phone? aka do you leave it on all of the time?
if that is the case then do a power cycle...even take the battery out for a minute or so and see if that does the trick...for some reasons some phones act weird if they're left on all of the time..
I think it's the problem from update 1.72.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i keep it on all the time
when i do restart the phone the meassages come's in to my phone !
I found this a lot in Manchester City Centre, phoned Orange about it and they said a number of masts in my area were experiencing issues.
I could usually tell if I was having problems by dialing a number (150 mostly) and if it'd connect then txt's would come through, if not then it was most likely an issue with Orange and none were coming through.
Don't believe it was ever an issue with the phone itself.
Do you notice that this happens in certain locations or everywhere?
Do you use a Cumstom Rom and Radio?...if so try using to reset your connection setting or even to flash another radio.
Title says all. I was just chillin' listening to some music (Let's Get It to be exact) and when I pressed my power button to check and see how fast the WiFi reconnects, I swiped up and nothing happened. It was like that for about a minute or two, the volume rocker worked and I could hold down the camera button and go to the camera, but the touch screen just wouldn't work. I popped off the back and was about to remove the battery and thats when everything went back to normal...pretty odd...just a heads up.
Wifi now reconnects instantly. I am pleased
strange... not had any problems like this at all on mine yet...
Seems VERY responsive, been using it all lastnight over and over and this morning.

Dammit, I thought I said what phone I was using...I'm on the HTC Arrive. It hasn't done it since I've posted..I highly doubt it'll happen all the time (probably won't ever happen again)..just wanted to mention it.
This happened to my arrive right as it was done updating on the screen that says the update is done...the close button wouldn't work, but I remember reading this thread so I waited it out and it started to work after like 2 min
I am having the exact problem on my HD7, only seems to occur if I am listening to music. The lock screen appears, but I cannot swipe.
Mine doesn't always come back and I have to remove the battery.
I have the same issue every once in a while. I'm not on Mango though, I'm running NoDo on a HTC Surround.
It's happened about 5 times in the last six months.
I've had the same issue since before NoDo. The quickest fix is to try turning the screen off and then on again, sometimes it takes a few attempts but it normally works.
haven't noticed on dvp or anything I wonder if its a htc thing...
I haven't noticed it, though I did get the red screen associated with changing the reg entries to get 32 bit color one.
Interesting side not, when I was updating to Mango, on one of the reboots I got the red screen and thought I was screwed, but the update process continued and on the next reboot it was normal again...

nope havnt come across this yet on my Samsung Focus. The only issue seems to be the increased boot up time(phone stays on d Samsung logo screenfor a long time) but I am quite sure its due to Samsungs crappy bootloader and besides I hardly have to reboot WP7 ever anyway
Hey, has anyone else noticed that weird icon where your signal and data icon should be?
Idk if its the new icon for no signal or what...but when I unlocked my phone, I saw an icon that looked like the copy and paste icon where my signal and data icon should be.
I must say I'm noticing this on third party apps a lot, I don't know whether it's because they are downloading data from the Internet or what but it's happening quite a bit at the moment. LG Optimus 7 btw.
After booting my HTC One X, or after turning off airplane mode, the phone says "no service" for a good 20 seconds before the cellular radio is up and running. This occurs in a city with a good signal; i tried 2 other Android phones in the same area and carrier and both had their radio up and running instantly.
Is this normal on an HTC One X, or do I have a defective unit that I should return?
Well, if it runs good after the 20 seconds of no service, it's all good...
I mean does it really bother you that much ?
If it runs fine after is turns on there is no problems at all...
A problem would be if it took like 2 minutes to start
It works fine once it's up and running and does not bother me at all.
However, I'm trying to troubleshoot a battery issue that may or may not be related. Thus, I would like to know if the radio takes so long to turn on for anyone else.
For me it does... I didn't measure it, so i cant tell yo if it's 20 seconds or 10 or 30 but it is noticeable and i believe normal as well...
Last couple weeks I've had an issue will my Internet connection gets painfully slow over wifi. Today it would give me decent results on a speed test, but would take forever to start running test. Chrome, Facebook, etc, would be really slow to load anything. Similar thing happened last week, except that time speed test came back really slow.
Both times a restart fixed the problem.
Any idea what could be causing this? Before these two times, I never had any issues and never rebooted the phone except if the battery died. I was up to 15 days without any issues and no restarts. Now I've restarted twice in the last 8 days to fix a problem.
I'm following the post closely.
I have similar issues and at first I thought it could be my wifi modem. Restarted that and it seemed to work for a couple days then the same issue. Major slow down. I tested other devices that I have connected to my wifi, none of which have duplicated the major slow down of the wifi. I have done the update and I'll post in a week or so if this has fixed the issue.
I know it wasnt a router issue because my friend has a note 4 and didn't have any issues while I did.
I did a factory reset this morning, will see if it happens again.
I'm also curious about this. Is your wifi AC enabled?
Same here, slow slow slow. My nexus 7 works fine so it isn't wifi.

Did that help?
I'm going to take mine to the At&t store this morning. Facebook just sits there and does nothing, Instagram is the same can't receive email either and that's after doing a factory reset.
I took it in and they are now sending me to the device support center. The rep couldn't get it to hook up with there wifi.
Thanks for the update. Mine isn't quite that bad. It'll just slow down to about 5mb/s while the other devices on the network are fine

Have you tried to turn off WiFi power savings off. You do that from the dialer, *#0011#, go to wifi settings and turn it off. It's known to samsung phones to cause issues with power savings on.

Not seeing much of a difference in a speed test. I'm at the outer edge of my wife network, and I'm seeing 10 down /5 up. If I go right underneath my access point, I'll get 50/20.
I take it back, I got 10/5 under the router, while a wired connection got 40/10.
Gonna restart the access point and see what I get.
An iPhone 6 just did 15/1.5
Another test for me and I got 8/6
Restarted the phone and got 20/4.
What is causing this?
Same issue for me as well. It's only the wifi on my phone and it just started last week. I even did a hard reset to fix it and no luck. It's laggy as hell now and I just leave it on LTE so I don't have to wait so long. Any updates?
My issue is worse than it ever was. Instead of happening every 6-7 days without a restart, it happens after 1 day now. It's not so much that WiFi is slow, it's that it takes forever to start downloading and for Web pages to load up. 30-40 seconds before a page will begin to load.
I have a replacement phone coming from att today.
