Last couple weeks I've had an issue will my Internet connection gets painfully slow over wifi. Today it would give me decent results on a speed test, but would take forever to start running test. Chrome, Facebook, etc, would be really slow to load anything. Similar thing happened last week, except that time speed test came back really slow.
Both times a restart fixed the problem.
Any idea what could be causing this? Before these two times, I never had any issues and never rebooted the phone except if the battery died. I was up to 15 days without any issues and no restarts. Now I've restarted twice in the last 8 days to fix a problem.
I'm following the post closely.
I have similar issues and at first I thought it could be my wifi modem. Restarted that and it seemed to work for a couple days then the same issue. Major slow down. I tested other devices that I have connected to my wifi, none of which have duplicated the major slow down of the wifi. I have done the update and I'll post in a week or so if this has fixed the issue.
I know it wasnt a router issue because my friend has a note 4 and didn't have any issues while I did.
I did a factory reset this morning, will see if it happens again.
I'm also curious about this. Is your wifi AC enabled?
Same here, slow slow slow. My nexus 7 works fine so it isn't wifi.

Did that help?
I'm going to take mine to the At&t store this morning. Facebook just sits there and does nothing, Instagram is the same can't receive email either and that's after doing a factory reset.
I took it in and they are now sending me to the device support center. The rep couldn't get it to hook up with there wifi.
Thanks for the update. Mine isn't quite that bad. It'll just slow down to about 5mb/s while the other devices on the network are fine

Have you tried to turn off WiFi power savings off. You do that from the dialer, *#0011#, go to wifi settings and turn it off. It's known to samsung phones to cause issues with power savings on.

Turned it off. Will see if that does anything.
Hasn't happened in the last week.

Not seeing much of a difference in a speed test. I'm at the outer edge of my wife network, and I'm seeing 10 down /5 up. If I go right underneath my access point, I'll get 50/20.
I take it back, I got 10/5 under the router, while a wired connection got 40/10.
Gonna restart the access point and see what I get.
An iPhone 6 just did 15/1.5
Another test for me and I got 8/6
Restarted the phone and got 20/4.
What is causing this?
Same issue for me as well. It's only the wifi on my phone and it just started last week. I even did a hard reset to fix it and no luck. It's laggy as hell now and I just leave it on LTE so I don't have to wait so long. Any updates?
My issue is worse than it ever was. Instead of happening every 6-7 days without a restart, it happens after 1 day now. It's not so much that WiFi is slow, it's that it takes forever to start downloading and for Web pages to load up. 30-40 seconds before a page will begin to load.
I have a replacement phone coming from att today.

I have a problem with my Galaxy Nexus turning OFF at night.
I goto bed at night and open the clock app and click the screen to dim it. When I wake up in the morning the phone is OFF. I have to pull the battery in order to boot. The battery is fully charged.
I returned the phone after this happened twice and received a brand new one. I have the same problem with this new device. I have changed the power socket and the charger yet still the problem persists.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?
I have Skype installed and running which maybe the cause. I will keep it OFF for the next few nights to see if this has a positive effect.
Try it without any off your apps installed. If the problem goes away you know it's an app causing the problem. Then start adding them back in batches until the problem re-occurs. Eventually you'll narrow the issue down to one app.

This is happening to me too.
At random times, the phone will refuse to wake from sleep.
Nothing but a battery pull will fix it.
I don't have skype installed.
Have a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360880&highlight=sleep+of+death
Mine started today. Really hope this does not keep happening or I need to return this right away. Missed a few phone calls today and didnt realize until I looked down any my phone was just simply black. Will not wake up or do anything at all. You have to pull the battery. Right before this happened my data was dropping non stop about every 5 minutes for an hour.
I'm trying to stay calm because I love this phone, but between the data drops and the phone turning off im loosing patience quick.
This is happening to me as well. With TWO different phones. The first one I returned to Verizon and now its happening on the second one.
Phone will power off while doing random tasks. The two I've noticed is browsing on the stock browser and texting on the stock texting app.
I'm having the same problem. It's happened twice in the 3 days I've had the phone. It hasn't happened while I'm using it, both times it was when the screen was already off -- it just wouldn't waku up. Nothing short of pulling the battery, letting it sit, then powering on would work.
Couldn't have come at a worse time either, my daughter is in the hospital and I get updates from the surgeons via phone. So now I have to check every 5 minutes and make sure the phone is still on.
Phone is bone stock, out-of-the-box.

shock sensitive in the area right below the camera?
My device just "randomly" switches off (sometimes several times a day). After a long search for a reproducible cause, it seems safe to say that at least some devices seem to be extremely shock sensitive in the area right below the camera (on the back of the device). Even minuscule shocks to this area switch these devices off. Youtube-user 'jardinepatten' demonstrates this problem nicely in a video called "Galaxy Nexus Turning Off".
I am on my second International HTC one X and both devices would lose the carrier signal quit often... I would either go to airplane mode, or turn the network off and on and it would grab it again. Sometimes it would be good for the day and other times, I would have to do it a few times....
I wanted to think it was my carrier having issues (MTS in Winnipeg MB Canada)... however, this has never happened on my many other devices. Now I wake up today and turn on the mobile data, after awhile... it does not connect, under settings it says disconnected because service is unavailable. I tried reboots, restart, airplane mode, checking apn settings.... on my last reboot, it says No signal/emergency calls only.
So now I am fearing a hardware issue (but I find it odd it happens on both my one xs).
I love this device and aside from this potentially huge issue.... I have no complaints, so I will ask here and see if you guys have any solid input.. before I contact htc!
I also popped my sim in and out, as of right now...
Thx in advance.
**update: it almost seems like putting wifi on, knocks out my carrier signal.... after an hour of doing the above things, I turned off wifi, went to airplane mode and now my signal and data is there (it makes no sense) and it is quite a hassle
The weirder part is, it seems to only be in the morning.... once I am up and running, I do not seem to have many issues through out the day, but If I put wifi on long enough... It goes to no signal/eventually....
If I do not put on wifi, it either does not drop.... or I am not noticing.
I've just begun having network problems but I'm not sure it's related to your situation. I'm in Australia on the Optus network.
It happened suddenly yesterday. Service completely cuts out for extended periods. It will occasionally come back on for a short while (long enough to download all my sms) but will then cut out again. When the signal does briefly come back in, the signal strength is decent: it's an all-or-nothing proposition.
Did you manage to resolve your situation? Would be interested to know what resolved it for you.
I've had this phone since early April when it was released here and the is the first issue I've had with it. I haven't done anything new to my phone in the past week so I'm finding this strange. I'm running Leedroid 4.0.0 but I've had that installed for weeks without issue. I'm worried it could be a hardware issue.
I'm going to try reflashing it tonight to see if it's a software issue.
More often than not, when I start up my G pad, the Wifi does not turn on regardless of the way it was set before. Toggling the button on quick settings, or tying to turn it on manually in settings, does nothing; it says "turning on wifi", but it hangs. Rebooting usually fixes it, but sometimes requires more than one try.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping that it's a software glitch that will get fixed in the next ota update or when I flash my next rom, whichever comes first. If it's a hardware problem, however, I'd better return it before my rma period expires. Any ideas?
Thanks!
In the advanced setting under WiFi do you have the tablet set to keep WiFi on during sleep? I never turn mine off and do not have a problem. Using a v500 not a v510.

Yes, I've experienced it, if by starting up the G Pad you mean from it bring completely shut down, rather than sleeping. Also happens when doing a restart sometimes. As you say, a further restart sorts it out. I very rarely shut the tablet down or restart it though, usually I just let it sleep, so it hasn't really bothered me, except for the first time when I thought for a horrible moment the wireless hardware had died!
Wht if you don't want to use wifi when you boot the tablet? Then you have the wifi radio wasting battery from the start. Can't you install an app tht turns on the wifi at boot?
It took 6 reboots to get wifi working this mornino! Previously it had only taken 1-2 tries. It also had seemed on previous occasions that rebooting while unplugged would be more likely to successfully turn it on, but no luck; it failed multiple times both plugged and unplugged.
Needless to say, I will never turn the damn thing off if I can help it, but I'm not exactly happy about it.
LBJM, I rarely want to start up without having wifi enabled, but I suppose you could use apps like Tasker or Llama to turn it on or off under certain conditions.

The issue isn't simply that Wi-Fi is off when the tablet first boots up, it's that it refuses to switch Wi-Fi on until it's restarted a second time, so don't think this would help.

6 is getting a bit crazy! Thankfully a single restart worked for me on the couple of occasions it happened. I've actually ended up restarting a few times over the past week for other reasons, but haven't seen this issue occur again. I'm going to shut it down completely shortly, so will see what happens then.
I would take that in for a warranty replacement. That sounds like a dodgy network chip on the main board. I just restarted today and had no problem like what you mention.

I turn it off every night and in the almost couple of months that I have had my G Pad I have never had this problem.
Yeah I would RMA your Gpad. You shouldn't have to jump through hoops to turn on wifi.
Oddly, the issue has pretty much stopped - - just as well, since I was past my RMA date! I'm going to chalk this one up to some odd app interference, since it resolved with any rom updates or re-flashing.
Thanks again to everyone for their help!
So I just purchased the tablet brand new about 2 weeks ago. Love it for the most part!
Over the past couple of days though, the wifi has really started to act up, and it's passing me off.. About every half hour or so, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter, the wifi will just stop working for a while. The bars will still be there, as will the little "download" and "upload" arrows lighting up as though data is still being sent and received. However, the wifi just isn't working. Pages won't load, speed test . net app won't work, nothing requiring wifi.
I usually have to go into wifi settings to disconnect and reconnect for it to start working again.
I haven't done anything different to my wifi router, and my other wifi connected devices don't seem to be having any trouble staying properly connected, so it doesn't seem like it'd be an interference issue.
Can anyone provide me with some help?
Hi guys-
So, about a year ago (maybe after the Marshmallow update), my Note 4 started bogging down, freezing, restarting randomly, etc. At some point I couldn't even get it to power on in spite of battery pulls, manual drain holding the power button, etc. This after many cache clearings, resets, etc. It seemed dead.
Sickened, I went back to a dumb phone last year. A couple weeks ago I got the Note 4 out of storage, and much to my surprise, when I plugged it in, it started to charge. It powered on. It seemed revived and good as new! But after a few days, the freezing started again, and also once again, it sometimes would not power on unless I left the battery out for hours. I installed Wakelock, which seems to have resolved most of the freezing, lagging, and resetting issues, but if the phone ever does reset or power down, I may be unable to power it on for days.
Is there anything I'm missing? Ocassionally it will reboot or start up with a memory error and the android symbol (do not turn off target!). Does this mean that part of my memory has failed and it's all up to chance whether the phone will work or not? It seems so strange that it works perfectly most of the time now that I have Wakelock installed. I would try rooting if I could, but it seems like that's still not a permanent option with this Att version. I'd also trade it in for 85 bucks a the att store, but if they try rebooting it, I'm 98% certain it won't power back on. Uhg.
Any advice is appreciated!
i've had similar issues that were solved by using a new battery. its not definitely the problem but it worth a shot.
Thanks! I rotate through 3 batteries, so I figured it wouldn't be that, but I'll give it a shot.

I am facing the same. One of the senior member @norbarb suggested to clean the firmware through ODIN and updaing phone through sd card manually. I am yet to figure out how to perform this solution. but below is the link of his great work. See if that benefits you. Do thank him and others who contributed to this work.

Also, do let me know if you get the final solution. We both are facing same issue and I am damn sure that there are many others like us.
