Hi all,
This is a new one on me. My phone suddenly can't connect to anything. It just says "a network error has ocurred" whenever I try to do anything (web browsing, play store...everything). BUT, when I tether the phone's connection over USB to my PC, I can browse online without problem. This seems to have started spontaneously as I was using it without issue on my train ride home, but then it stopped suddenly. I have tried wiping the phone's data, re-seating the SIM. My wife has the exact same provider and I ensured all the APN settings are 1:1 the same and she is browsing normally while sitting next to me.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance..

This. Which specific Galaxy Nexus are you using? What carrier? What ROM?
For example, 4.3 on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is having similar data issues. GSM Galaxy Nexus devices have not been affected.

I'm running 4.3 AOSP rooted. It's a GSM device, my carrier is Mobilicity (Canada). Previously I used this on T-Mobile in the US before moving up north.
I'd definitely try another ROM, then, perhaps a 4.2.2 ROM.

So I just grabbed myself a Telus Samsung Galaxy GT-I9250M today, popped in my Mobilicity SIM and nothing. I have let it sit now for 2+ hours to see if it needs to set itself up and just has not been able to connect. I followed some of the instructions in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394017 specifically the APN settings with a no go. When I attempt to search for networks, it usually just sits there at "Searching..." and if it does find a numbered network to connect to, it fails to register on that network. Only network it has been able to connect to is "CDN Roaming" and that does not give me any service.
Any ideas?
Same thing happened to me when I first popped in my Mobilicity sim. Try deleting the proxy entirely then remove and reinsert sim

Thanks Trilogee, that appears to have done the trick.
So glad to be back on a half decent platform, been stuck for the past few months with a Samsung G-Touch waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. Was thinking I might have to return it for a while there.
Thanks again!
No problem bud glad to help..it definitely is a sweet device

Hey guys, I've got the exact opposite problem. I have a Galaxy Nexus that I have used on Rogers, Fido, Moblicity, and Wind, successfully. I just tried to use it on Telus and I have the same problem as above. I'm stumped! The Telus SIM works in my brother's Galaxy Nexus fine!

I just installed it from the Play Store on my unlocked Nexus on AT&T and everything worked. I now have the free $10 Google card. Before I'd get an error that it isn't available on my carrier.
Anyone with a Verizon Nexus confirm this?

It's been available for AT&T devices for some time now.
It's only available on the gsm ones and the sprint one. Not on Verizon.

I'm still having trouble on my T-Mobile GN. But maybe it's because it's using AOKP?

Same here. I'm running AOKP here as well.
Maybe only for stock ROMs at this moment?

Do you have stock rom? I'm curious as to seeing what happens if I create a prepaid card using stock rom and then nandroid back into AOKP and see if the account stays.

Stock ROM 4.0.4. Unlocked and rooted.
I don't suggest doing what you're trying to do, you might get the secure element error.

It's worked for me for at least a month on AT&T with an unlocked Galaxy Nexus. No error messages and no messages regarding incompatibility.
Unsurprisingly it is still not offered in the Canadian play store even though our merchants do support it.

Yes, you can do that. The account may disappear, but you can add it back. I've wiped my Wallet data many times at this point. AOKP and stock both work the same as far as I can tell.

Same here pretty much. I use H2O (an AT&T MVNO) and I was able to download and use Wallet the day I bought my Nexus at the end of January. In the Google Play store it shows up as an AT&T Nexus.
Oh, I should mention that mine is the NTT Docomo version. I heard that you might have to call in to activate it or something? Not 100% sure.

I was wondering the same thing although in my research to finding the cause to our problem, I read on some sites that it is due to the vulnerabilities and the ability to get into other peoples "wallet" via deleting the caches.
I'm on T-Mobile, AOKP.
Couldn't download before (carrier blah blah).
Just did it and installed.

All sites stating that haven't got their crap together in the last 2 months. That issue was fixed long ago.
A few weeks ago I started to have this problem; i'm ussually connected to the HDSPA network, but the phone turns data off all the time and the only way to get the signal back is rebooting (even turning on and off plane mode doesn't solve it). Calls work perfectly.
I'm on stock 4.0.4, no modified kernels or roms. My carrier is Simyo, Spain.

That´s not my problem; the phone functions work great all the time, but data connection goes off. It happened when I was on 4.0.2 and now on 4.0.4 the issue is still there.
I too am having this same issue with a GSM Galaxy Nexus on stock yakju 4.0.4, but I'm in Canada on the Bell network, and did change the radio to the one they install on their phones.
I've been having this same problem just in the last day or two, ever since I enabled NFC. 4.04, stock kernel, calls go through as normal but no network data. When I disable NFC, everything is back to normal. Anyone else notice conflict with NFC enabled?

I believe this is with the 4.0.4 IMM76D build, it's fixed on 4.0.4 IMM76I.
Again, what the OP has reported, and I am experiencing the same, is that network connectivity does not drop, rather that at least in some scenarios (as is my experience with NFC enabled) network data drops. Really curious if anyone else out there has seen the same on the most recent build and in particular if anyone else has seen a conflict with NFC enabled.
Try matching your radio interface layer with the radio version. This app will help

My baseband and RIL match. Now i'm using franco m4 but the problem persists.

RIL and baseband matching here too. Thx for suggestion though. Handy little app too.
Unrelated, perhaps.
Sorry, but this might not be related: I have an issue with the phone going into 2G when I'm at work -- 23rd floor office. I must manually change it to 2G/Edge every time. All the other folks around me seem to continue without issue and are able to make calls although their signal isn't too hot. GetRIL says baseband and RIL match. I'm using XXLA2 on AT&T in NYC.
Tried searching around for a solution, but I'm not finding anything.
I had the data drop issue as well, not sure if this is related, but around the same time I matched up my RIL, I also switched from francokernel to glados. I have been using glados 1.34 & have not had the issue since.

I've noticed that data connection seems to drop when I switch apps. Does this happen to anybody else? Whenever I switch from one app to another, say from Chrome to Twitter, data connection is lost and then reconnects in about 5 to 10 seconds. There's been occasions when I've lost network signal completely and the only fix, other than to reboot, seems to be to turn airplane mode on and to turn it off again.
I have a GSM Gnex. Is this a hardware problem or will it be fixed with 4.0.5?
I have a galaxy nexus (Verizon) that i do not use as a phone, so basically i ONLY use the wifi no 3g/4g i dont even have a sim card. So i was wondering since i dont care about the cell radios, could i flash a GSM stock rom, so i could get android 4.2. Would this work? or would it totally destroy my phone?

You probably shouldn't do it especially when flashing incorrect bootloader.
In theory, it should work, but since the APN's will get f'ed up it may just not boot or give you a lot of force closes.

I once accidentally installed a CDMA ROM on my GSM GNex.
It booted and everything worked except for the network and in Phone Status I had Network: unknown/unavailable and bunch of other things like that.

I been at this for thee days now! so I bought a gnex from a friend that was using it on a plan with at&t. he now uses a prepaid plan with a different phone and sold me this galaxy nexus. now I did have a Motorola defy that I was using for tmobile but it has gon to crap so using a sim adaptor I placed it into this gnex but it wont pic up the tmobile network. when I go to settings phone info status it has my sim card phone number and all that, but it doesn't have network and all the other stuff. :crying:
so does anyone know how I can fix this or give me a walkthrough with using the unlock codes for Samsung galaxy nexus?
AT&T never sold a galaxy nexus. you already have an unlocked device. try doing a factory reset from the settings with your SIM card in it. Are you sure your sim adapter is fitting correctly?

How many different threads are you going to open for the same exact issue? You are breaking multiple forum rules right now.
Have you tried calling TMobile to see if there is anything they need to do on their end? There shouldn't be but you never know
