So I just grabbed myself a Telus Samsung Galaxy GT-I9250M today, popped in my Mobilicity SIM and nothing. I have let it sit now for 2+ hours to see if it needs to set itself up and just has not been able to connect. I followed some of the instructions in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394017 specifically the APN settings with a no go. When I attempt to search for networks, it usually just sits there at "Searching..." and if it does find a numbered network to connect to, it fails to register on that network. Only network it has been able to connect to is "CDN Roaming" and that does not give me any service.
Any ideas?
Same thing happened to me when I first popped in my Mobilicity sim. Try deleting the proxy entirely then remove and reinsert sim

Thanks Trilogee, that appears to have done the trick.
So glad to be back on a half decent platform, been stuck for the past few months with a Samsung G-Touch waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. Was thinking I might have to return it for a while there.
Thanks again!
No problem bud glad to help..it definitely is a sweet device

Hey guys, I've got the exact opposite problem. I have a Galaxy Nexus that I have used on Rogers, Fido, Moblicity, and Wind, successfully. I just tried to use it on Telus and I have the same problem as above. I'm stumped! The Telus SIM works in my brother's Galaxy Nexus fine!

Hi folks, I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus running Android Jelly Bean (4.1.1). Since I bought it, with ICS, and even now it has had the same problem: whenever I start a call or answer one, it immediately changes to 2g (I checked on settings, sometimes it's gprs, sometimes EDGE, but always 2g). This results in poor call quality and in several cases, dropped calls. When I'm not on a call, the 3G works fine and fast.
I checked this forum and didn't find any question regarding this matter, does any one has the same issue or it's just my phone? Is it a bug or is it meant to be this way?
Thanks,
Definitely not meant to work that way. I'd talk to your carrier. Might be a network or SIM problem.
Thanks, apparently my carrier (Personal Argentina) doesn't have a clue why this is happening. I'm gonna change sims and update if there are any changes

Try asking your carrier for another sim, it did the trick for me.. Before doing that, try asking a friend another sim to check if that's actually the problem

Ok SO I could not find a proper thread for this since there are SO many threads. The issue I'm having is I got a Samsung galaxy S III that was unlocked, and after I put my ATT sim into it I could recieve texts and calls but I could not recieve data. So I rooted it and applied clockwork with all my mods and figured I could find some setting that would fix it... well I was wrong. I tried global, GSM and LTE settings none of which would give me data. If there is anything anyone can do to help I would be more than appreciative.

While I agree that you should always call at&t so they can register a device to your account, this will not help his current data issue
OP, is this an international s3, T-Mobile or at&t? What firmware/rom is installed? Again, verify your imei is intact
Ok so this is a verizon Galaxy S3. It is rooted running 4.1.2 JB, Kernal 3.0.31. After I got the phone I did go to an ATT store to register a micro sim because i didn't have one at the time. So the imei is registered to my sim card perfectly. I can get calls and texts without any issue but no data. How do I figure out what the apn settings are and if I have the right configuration?

You do realize you're trying to use a cdma phone (verizon) on a gsm network (at&t), right? Different radios. Different technology. Won't work
Well it was unlocked at the phone has a gsm option so if it wasn't compatable I don't see why they would have the option there to actually use a gsm network.

You need to read more.
this phone only supports GSM with EDGE data.* This essentially means that you'll get 2G data speeds (unless you have a WiFi connection) because it doesn't support UMTS/HSPA+ which is required for international and U.S. 3G data. the 4G LTE frequency supported by this phone is only used in the U.S.* For those who don't know UMTS/HSPA+ is the 3G technology used by GSM carriers internationally (and used by AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.) which is different from the CDMA/EV-DO 3G technology used by Verizon and Sprint.*
This phone IS unlocked, that part is correct. But only for gsm carriers
So its preventing me from recieving ANY form of data possible?? It is a Verizon phone and I have ATT so you mean it doesn't support GSM then right?

You're in an at&t s3 forum with a verizon s3 that has zero data. If you really want to pursue this issue, you should start looking around in the Verizon S3 forums

you have a Verizon S3, that is the FIRST place you need to go. always go to the forum for the device you have, bro.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1708
If I'm not mistaken, some Verizon devices will not work on US gsm networks even if unlocked, only foreign gsm networks.
Saw an article about this, although it might have been a different phone that was being discussed.

If you are going to stick with AT&T, that is the way to go if you want to have data. No worries. Stupidity is only if you didn't learn anything. You had ignorance of the situation and now your don't. Do some research on any phone before you buy next time (especially if branded from another carrier). This can save you a lot of headaches as you have just learned. Just remember some basics from this forum. Good luck.
I been at this for thee days now! so I bought a gnex from a friend that was using it on a plan with at&t. he now uses a prepaid plan with a different phone and sold me this galaxy nexus. now I did have a Motorola defy that I was using for tmobile but it has gon to crap so using a sim adaptor I placed it into this gnex but it wont pic up the tmobile network. when I go to settings phone info status it has my sim card phone number and all that, but it doesn't have network and all the other stuff. :crying:
so does anyone know how I can fix this or give me a walkthrough with using the unlock codes for Samsung galaxy nexus?
AT&T never sold a galaxy nexus. you already have an unlocked device. try doing a factory reset from the settings with your SIM card in it. Are you sure your sim adapter is fitting correctly?

I have a Galaxy S III from AT&T. I got it unlocked and activated on T-Mobile last month.
Now, I went a month on AT&T roms, but recently I flashed SlimBean, which is dual carrier. My phone immediately connected to LTE! Never had I seen LTE on TM's network on this phone before, so I take that to mean I need to run T-Mobile ROMs to get LTE service.
So just now I tried to flash BeanStalk for d2tmo, but it won't let me install it because, of course, it's not made for this phone. From what I have read, though, it should work fine on my phone. How do I override this failsafe so I can run T-Mobile roms on my AT&T gs3?
"You do this with 7-Zip/WinRAR
Note: DO NOT EXTRACT ROM!
Open the zip file, do not extract, go to:
/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
1)Open updater-script with a script editor such as notepad/notepad++ (makes things 10x easier), or gedit if you use linux
2)Delete the first line of code (all the way up to the first semicolon you see) and delete the first semi-colon as well
Do not go past the first semiclon when deleteing and DO NOT forget to delete the first semicolon."
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You'll want to delete the highlighted text in the updater-script, then save it. You shouldn't run into anymore problems or errors when flashing the ROM.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And the Rom won't give you LTE. Most T999 roms will show 4g, but look in settings for your true connection. You probably had it all along.

Well I had LTE / GSM / WCDMA selected in the settings on CyanogenMod for the I747 and it wasn't connecting to LTE. Only HSPA+. So either it's the ROM, or T-Mobile launched their LTE network here at the same time I flashed SlimBean.
I'm running stock i747 and I get Lte all over Chicagoland. I'm rooted now, but I got it before I rooted too. I'm using the stock 4.1.1 that came with the phone, picked it up for $180 a few days ago...Wow this thing is awesome.
Thinking about going with Dandroid tomorrow...still deciding att or T-Mobile version.

Please do let me know! When I was running the AT&T roms, I had "Simple Mobile", "StraightTalk", and "T-Mobile". I tested and all of them worked, but just connected to HSPA+.
Now that I've installed a T-Mobile rom I am also getting "Solavei" and "T-Mobile LTE." When I select T-Mobile LTE, my phone connects to the LTE network. When I have the regular T-Mobile option selected it doesn't connect to data at all.
EDIT: I am testing again, and I actually can connect to HSPA+ on the regular T-Mobile APN. Let me walk around and see if I can make it connect to LTE. Then I'm going to flash an AT&T rom and try to get it to connect to the LTE network by manually adding the APN. I'll let you know how it goes.
Can the APNs determine what type of network you connect to?
I'm just curious what APN settings you're using to connect to LTE on the AT&T rom.
Okay, here's another update as the result of some testing with my T-Mobile rom:
When I switch to the "T-Mobile US" (no LTE) APN, I noticed that my data cut in and out sort of randomly. I speculate that the reason for this is because it was trying to connect to the LTE network but couldn't get data on it because my APN was set incorrectly. This is what confused be before. I switched the data mode to GSM / WCDMA preferred and it immediately connected to data, and was consistent.
So I think if I just add the T-Mobile US LTE APN to an AT&T rom, it should connect to LTE properly?
A long time ago when I was just on the T-Mobile US APN on an AT&T rom, it was doing the same thing with being inconsistent with the data connection until I disabled LTE so it stopped trying to connect. I'll take the fact that it tried to connect but couldn't as enough evidence that it knows how, it just needs the APN.
Yay figuring things out! Sorry if my words are confusing or I maybe I should have made a new thread for this. I'm new here, and I'm not sure how this kind of things work.
Thanks for the help in figuring that out!
Sorry about the sidetrack, I'll work on getting 4.3 next, and let you know how that goes.
Here's what I've got

Tmobile user here, no matter if I am on WiFi or LTE the phone randomly gets stuck on searching for network and nothing will function. Any thoughts?
do a factory reset
Could be a bad SIM too
I have this problem with the ATT version. It won't take the apn that came with the phone. It searches for network for a while and then when it finds it, there is still no data.
