I have an issue where it won't play a whole video. At least most of the time. It'll get maybe half way through the video and then it's like the buffering just stopped so there's nothing else to play. Anymore I just open all YouTube links in Dolphin.

i once had the same issue and for youtube to be able to play videos. i had to factory reset it and install calks rom again. hope this helped.

Even after doing this my youtube videos on low quality still take 45 seconds to load and then it still buffers all the way through the video. If I try to load a video in HD, i have to leave it in the same spot and wait about 3-5 mins for it to start playing. Im in phoneix az where there is no 4G, and my 3G is about .40mbps most of the time.

Indeed, I noticed a similar issue. Sometimes it stops buffering for some reason. However other applications are working fine.
I'm on Youtube version 5.0.21.

What is this icon in middle of my screen?

This icon popped up in my youtube app out of nowhere in the last few days. It also dims the vid. I have no idea what it is or where it came from and it’s driving me nut. Please help.
That is the icon to enable casting via Chromecast.
Silly question but I don't have chromcast so how do I get rid of this icon?
You possibly have Google TV then? It would only show up if you have chromecast or Google TV

Fyi does this for my samsung smart tv, and does this at my dads apartment as well because the guy that lives below him has a samsung smart tv.
Its youtube telling you that you can send to the ssmart tv.

That's the weird thing, I don't have a smart TV, dumb TV or any TV for that matter in the house right now and this thing just popped up out of the blue.
So the question remains, how do I get rid of it?
Uninstall chromecast

I have the same same problem and don't know how to get ridbof it.
Are you on an unsecured network? On the same network with a ps3 or blu ray player with Youtube streaming? I get that icon when I have Youtube opened on my Note 2 and open the Youtube app on my ps3.
There must be a way to dismiss that icon, right? I mean even if you do have Chromcast, it doesn't mean you necessarily want to cast everything.
Maybe the Chromecast section of the forums can help.
I have a Samsung Smart TV that I have linked to my Nexus 7 youtube for Optional transmission to the TV.
But recently, YouTube has started showing this icon permanently when viewing youtube videos on my Nexus, slap bang in the middle the screen.
Im surprised that arent a huge number of people reporting this problem at this forum. Any solution would be appreciated.

On my Note II this is what I did to turn it off.
Settings-->More Settings--->Allshare Cast and make sure it's off.
Funny thing, that none of you even considered that it's a freaking bug in youtube!
Uninstall update in play store and it's fixed.

Same problem here, I'm running CM nigthlies, but I found this post --> productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/91-3-Nh3BHM[/url][1-25-true] --> which relates the problem to connected bluetooth headsets.
Disconecting my bluetooth headset worked for me, but it didn't for others.
I hope this helps and that the bug gets solved, I just don't want to have to unplug my headset to watch a video....
Yes, I do use a bluetooth headset when I see the problem.

Turn off DirectShareManager and Samsung Link under Applications and restart device. This works for me.

Thanks a bunch!!! Been fighting this stupid symbol for weeks and never once thought it was a bug or issue with youtube. Just assumed my Note II had a problem or my bluetooth or wifi or anything else besides what it really was....youtube! Uninstalled the updates and symbol was magically *poof* gone! I can no longer watch the video while continuing to do something else but a small price to pay until youtube fixes that issue.
Youtube play updates claims this has been fixed now. I have not tested it yet.

It's a known bug . Haven't found a way to fix it myself. Some people say clearing the cache and data on the Youtube app fixes it, but I haven't had any luck.

Poor Youtube video quality?

Hello, I have a note 2 n7100. I used to have 4.1.2. Flashed 4.3. Everything went well. One thing that's bothering me is the youtube app video quality is low even when I choose HQ. It gets better but it's pixilated. On 4.1.2 it was basically hd. Has anyone else experience the same problem? I can't figure out what it is. The rom?. Or a setting somewhere? Could a custom kernel effect it somehow? Any tips or advice appreciated.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Are you on 3G? Because usually the app switches to HQ rather than HD only on 3G.
Also there is an app called Viral .. It let's you choose whatever quality you want, its kinda good, you may want to try it
Thanks, i guess i had a modded youtube app before where it would automatically play hd in 3g. Noe it only has hd option on wifi only. The only solution i foind is the OG youtube downloader. Where you can choose what quality you want when on 3g. But it doesnt have an auto option to go to highest quality when on 3g. Ill check out that viral app. Thanks.

Actually most of the roms have youtube apk as system app and those apks are a little modified for better performance!
If u have system youtube apk then you can remove it by using root uninstaller from play store(needs root).
And reinstall youtube from play store!
