My S3 is pretty much hooped screen wise, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to plug the ribbon cable from my new S4 screen into the old S3 motherboard to retrieve some files without damaging anything. They look like the same connector but I wasn't confident.
Thanks

How about plugging into a PC and transferring from your there to your S4?

Nothing happens if it's powered on and if it's powered off when I plug it in the phone just does a soft vibrate (like when it turns on) every 5 seconds and nothing else
can you use the hdmi?
Waiting for one to be shipped. Windows now sees it in device manager but it's got the yellow triangle beside it and says unable to install drivers

Happens to me as well. Especially when I try entering the pattern unlock. It keeps registering as the wrong pattern
I believe its an issue with the samsumg charging brick. Try a different one. There are some other threads about it.

Hello, I have the sprint galaxy nexus and the screen keeps turning itself on saying its charging when its not plugged in. I'll turn the screen off and a few seconds later it turns itself back on. I've tried switching ROMs and it is still doing it

Extremely well known issue where the USB connector is not functioning properly, and so it thinks its being plugged into a charger.
Explains that lol. Is there a fix to this?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You can try cleaning the USB port. If that doesn't work, I'd say your options are either try to fix it yourself by tweaking the pins OR claim warranty.
So I was listening to music on my phone with slim bean and it fell behind the bed and when I found it all it does is say Samsung and vibrate in a consistent pattern. Also if I remove the battery and put it back in it vibrates as soon as battery/charger is connected. Does this mean it somehow got in bootloader mode? If so is their a way to get it out without my PC? I tried getting into twrp but. No avail.

These is a similar thread floating around here where people have had this issue when using Pandora. See if you can search for it.

Thank you, I fell into a noob panic. Thanks for calming me down lol. Looks like I may have a power button issue on my hands

No problem. I knew there was something on it but didn't know the details. People have also had a similar problem with Pandora. Don't know if that's what you were listening to, but there seems there's a problem with Pandora and the latest roms.

I was listening to music from my SD card. I got it to boot
But I didn't have the similar in and when I rebooted it it did the same thing. Also got it to load the tarp splash and it rebooted then and I can see the screen flicker like it was booting and the power button was pressed. Looks like I'm going to have to send it off. Hope I can get it replaced for free if not I'm gonna look at a different phone.

Did you make sure every connector is properly connected back when you put the phone together?

When you connect your phone to the charger, does it charge? If not, then the USB main board is loose or broken. Luckily, it's attached to the motherboard via ribbon cable and can easily be checked and replaced.
If it charges fine, try this:
1) Launch the phone app
2) Dial ##3424#
3) Press "Qualcomm USB Setting"
4) Choose " MTP + ADB "
5) Press OK button

first of all thanks everyone for helping!! and i tried the ##3424# still nothing?? DAMMMMNNNNNNN!!!!!!
so i had a gnex with a busted usb port. i was using my moms gnex battery in the meantime to send a few important tests before i went off the air, and then i got a HTC One (which is awesome btw) to replace it, but when i got the usb pcb to replace the busted one, i replaced it all and triple checked all connections before putting phone back together.
Basically the problem is this. power button wont do anything. the battery i have i know has a 50% charge on it. I tried the pull battery put in usb put in battery trick and that gets me to the charging logo for about 15 seconds and then the phone turns off.
Do i have a bricked phone?
any ideas?
