This just started happening today without any changes to anything. I am using a Unlocked, Telus SGS3 running 4.1.2 - rooted, stock rom.
So just out the blue, when I reply to messages using Gmail the message will send but the body (text) of the message doesn't and upon review just shows a blank email on both my end and the receivers end.
I cleared cache, no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled Gmail app from the playstore,no change.
Anyone have any ideas as to what the issue is or how to fix? Its my work email and I need it up and running again
Solved
Cleared Dalvik Cache - problem solved. At least its here for reference.
Please lock if needed.

Anyone having (or had) an issue sending emails from gmail? Not sure when this started, but at first I could send but not forward or reply, now I can't even send. When I hit the send button it just greys out. i'm on decks ROM, I've cleared app data, reflashed gaps, removed and reinstalled from the market, fixed permissions, etc - nothing has helped. Will likely rebuild from scratch in the next day our two, but figured I would throw the question out there.
I had issues with the Gmail app as well - I could hit the send button but it would sit in my outbox forever and say "sending". I searched around and found a lot of other people with problems. My Gmail app wouldn't sync properly either. I would read an email or mark it as read, then when I synced it would still show unread.
My solution was to ditch the Gmail app and just use the default email app - you can set up your Gmail through that. You can also try a different version of the app, maybe an older one that worked for you.

Thanks for the response, for what its worth, I saw lots of posts with the symptoms you describe, everything on mine sync'd fine between gmail and phone except send. When I hit send the button would just grey out, wouldn't say sending or even move to the outbox, it just did nothing.
I rebuilt from scratch this morning and its working fine now, so who knows, I had tried everything I could think of and nothing else worked.

I did the same thing and my gmail worked perfectly afterwards.
That may have been a step I missed. I dont think I cleared cache when I removed the app, definitely rebooted before installing from the market. Well, thats one more thing to try if it happens again... which it likely wont now that I have a probable fix...
As the title states. The Gmail app on my phone, I can reveive and email but sending an email or deleting an email does not work. I can delete 5 emails on my phone, go the website and all thos emails are still there. And if I need to send an email forget it, I can go under my "sent' folder whether on the phone or the site and it just says "sending" but it never gets sent....... I have tried deleteing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling and still the same.........If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.

Uninstall the updates.
Have you looked in accounts & sync uncheck sync gmail. Check it to auto sync gmail. Just a thought. Do you have a backup of an older version try to install that one & see if issue is present in that app. Could just be a bad update.

Unlocked
Running AOKP milestone6 4.0.4
This happens to me every now and again. I remove the google account and re-add it. Also, sometimes just rebooting fixes the problem.
I was wondering if anyone else at XDA is having this issue:
I am running 4.0.4 on an unlocked GNex on AT&T. Gmail is notifying me of new messages. However, if I mark them read or delete them on gmail.com, the notification does not disappear from my GNex. I have to manually click on the notification and then it disappears. None of previous android phones have done this. They always remove the notification when I mark it as read somewhere else. I have tried to re-sync gmail and I also cleared data for the gmail app. Seems to be a bug with 4.0.4. Anyone else experiencing this?
Only found this while researching this issue:

Check with your email provider to see if anything has changed. This happened to me not long ago and they had updated their security and I had to adjust a single setting to make it work again.
Alternatively, backup your email if needed. (Id use Titanium to backup the app and data) then in Application Manager, clear data on the email app. Reboot the phone and re-setup your email and see if it works again.
It does sound to me like it may be a problem on the provider side though.
I'm rooted with Bonestock Rom. I noticed that I can receive email (Google account) but I cannot send. The email just stays in outbox. I tried turning mobile data off and on even my WiFi.But no go. I have my company email setup with the phone and that works fine.Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
I haven't run into this with the One, but with my GNEX when I was a flash o holic it happened quite often. I would wipe data, cache, and delvik cache as well then refresh the rom. Also sometimes it helped to download the Gmail app from the market rather than restore a back up of it.

I personally prefer using live mail, but clearing cache sounds like it will probably help, also just simply restarting your phone can help with a lot of stuff. My text messages were taking 15 minutes to send and receive, simple restart fixed that.
