Sprint Note II: SPH-L900
Version 4.1.1
Baseband L900VPALJC
Build JRO03C.L900VPALJC
I am wondering if I got the latest firmware or update.
I am not getting any updates notifications.
I got once the update notification months ago but since I was rooted I did not apply it.
Also, when the OTA updates downloads, what folder does it go to?
I used a little apps called CheckSamsungFW and told me that I can only be updated with Odin.
I used Odin in the past to root.
Thank you
No the latest is MC2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241136

I'm on T-Mobile USA, and have stock rom (2.3.6, Baseband T989UVKL1, Kernel 2.6.35.11, Build: GINGERBREAD.UVKL1). This phone is completely stock right now.
I just got the notification about the OTA, which I assume will be to ICS.
Questions before I accept the OTA update:
1. Will I be able to root after installing the official stock ICS update?
2. If so, would I use the ODIN method, or some other method?
3. Other than bloat, are there any known issues with the stock ICS rom.
4. Should I install CWM before accepting the OTA update?
Basically, I've tried looking but there doesn't seem to be much information about the official stock ICS update, probably because it is just starting to be rolled out.
Never mind. Just re-saw this http://www.tmonews.com/2012/05/t-mobile-rolling-out-galaxy-s-ii-maintenance-update-no-ice-cream-sandwich-yet/ and realized this update likely isn't ICS yet.
My son's 989 got a notification of a software update last night. He is stock/rooted GB with CWM Recovery installed. When trying to do the update, it of course failed since the recovery was not stock. Now it says there is no update. Does anyone know what this update was and is there a stock/rooted version that I can Odin to his phone? Thanks for the help.
Found a stock unrooted ICS and installed it. Should be able to root it.
Hi All,
Root --> Custom TWM recovery using Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit v3.0.0
278 MB sprint OTA update fails on 4.1.1
Unrooted, and Flashed Stock Rom via Odin.
Now 278 MB OTA update still fails.
1. Don't know how to make the phone go back to stock without losing all my apps so the OTA update will succeed.
2. Don't really care how I install the update, just want the latest Sprint update.
Searched all over forums, no clear indication in found threads on:
A. Which is latest Stock Sprint Firmware ROM to force update or flash manually?
B. How to recover back to stock (so OTA succeeds).
C. What will latest update push my version to, is it 4.1.2?
Any help guise?

Not exactly true. I was able to install the previous OTA while rooted, but had to have the factory recovery to do it.
(by the way, I am also having the same issue. Sprint told me it was because of a conflict with google and some of their proprietary software in the ROM, and that it is happening a lot.)
I am in the same boat. I want to update but dont want to fully install original rom just to update. I dont want to loose all my apps and settings I have.
Just got my layout the way I like it. I tried ota keeper and that did not work. Any know how I can ota while keeping my apps and settings.

I'm looking to do the same on my Sprint GN2. Ever since the update came out, I've just been hitting "skip install" which pops up several times a day.
I'm currently on a Sprint GN2, v4.1.2, with Baseband L900VPAMA7 and Build JZO54K.L900VPAMA7. Shortly after getting the phone a year ago, I rooted via the Odin method and left the ROM as stock. I have not changed or updated it since. When I have tried to update it with the earlier OTA update from earlier this year, I couldn't due to (I believe) the fact that I have the TWRP recovery and not stock.
With 4.3 hitting, I really would like to get it updated properly. I have been scouring several sites, including XDA, but haven't been able to really answer my questions, which are:
1. Do I need to worry about the earlier OTA update if I get the 4.3 update?
2. Was the earlier OTA update, the update that would have gotten me to a MC2 baseband?
3. Lots of folks talking about Knox files and removing them. Why?
4. For either update, it seems that I have to switch back to the stock recovery, is this correct? But do I need to actually do anything with the ROM itself?
5. And finally, if I have to change back to the stock recovery, how? So many of the how to vids/threads talk about doing both rom and recovery.
Thanks in advance. Oh, and I have found and tried to read through several links on these questions such as:

Would like to know about it too, can find a way to update to MK4
I'm on stock rooted 4.4.2 on my Sprint L710t (spark version). I got a notification for an OTA update yesterday coming in at 70.5MB and states that they're security updates and bug fixes. Did anyone else get this and do they know what these changes are? Will I lose root if I update?
I'm currently on OA3 baseband. Thanks.
I have the same baseband but have not received that message. Did you except the update or at least let it download the update then copy it from your system files to your internal or external sdcard? If you download it and save it could you upload it so I can get it from you and look through the update?

Idk if you will loose root access or if it will even allow you update since you are rooted cause you have modified the system file a little! I got the update this morning finally but I couldn't take it cause I have TWRP recovery and not stock recovery and I have deleted quiet a system apps. But you pull the update file from your cahce folder and open the zip file up and look at what all gest updated! The bootloader, kernel, modem and a bunch of system apps and CSC codes are all updated so far that I can see.
I haven't been able to update either since I'm using TWRP. Do you think it's worth going back to stock recovery in order to update? How would I even do that on OA3? I've seen a lot of tutorials on getting stock back on NF4 baseband, but nothing on OA3.

I'm sure it would help at least with our service cause they did update our modem! I'm not sure either about what is the best way to try to update. I'm running a custom kernel and TWRP so I would have to flash the NF4 package and see see it would give me ota-update for OA3 then allow me to update to the new L710TVPU0AOF2. Thats the new baseband. I'm not really sure I haven't ever had the problem of worrying about stock ota-updates. I've always normally had devices that developers post the update firmware packages online for us! I've asked Chainfire if he thinks we could flash the update using Flashfire but he hasn't replied yet. I don't think we will be able to but it's worth a shot to ask.
I just received the same update. Is there a way to disable it
How can I upload it?? Where is the update downloaded into??
