Dear XDA
I've been hanging to my note since almost it's release, I have nothing against it and I love it except that I grow tired of its size and TW. (using CM10.2 as we speak). but the design is boring and its full of scratches and cracks now, I want to upgrade without breaking the bank !!
Am not fond of the new dogs (S4/Z/etc etc)
I was thinking of either this unique phone (I love the design) or the Xperia SP but I've heard alot of bad things on the SP.
My wife has an Ascend G300 and for her and for the price its an excellent phone.
What would I miss the most from the Note? (I don't really use the S-pen ..)
And for those of you who has it, Would you buy it again, I mean do you regret getting it?
I don't mind the performance issues since its still better than my note, plus am getting it $100 cheaper than the announced price, So I guess it's a good deal, Right?
Definitely, ul fall in love with the P6 the moment u touch it

For what price do you guys buy the P6 ? The standard price im seeing seems to be the 420-435 $ range. But i see the Sony xperia ZR selling at 435-460$ range. So why would you guys go for P6 over the XZR .:silly:
The P6 definitely is better than the Xperia SP. But the Xperia SP sells at way lower price than the P6. I don't know how it is priced in your countries but out here i see it is close to the price range of Xperia Z series.
I changed a month ago my galaxy note gt- n7000 huawei ascend this P6 . I am delighted . The battery is great compared to the note . Only one catch , no development of roms yet. The bootloader is locked . But I recommend the change. It is much faster and more fluid. I also used almost the S -Pen.
Thanks for the replies.
The Ascend P6 here (Egypt) is sold for $420
while the S4 or the Xperia Z are sold for : $700 to $750.
The ZR is sold for $600
The Xperia sp is for $460
and I can buy the P6 almost $100 cheaper thanks to my Credit Points.
------------
So as you can see the P6 is substantially cheaper than most new mid-range phones yet looks much better than them

Yes the sony showroom price was actually around 600$ but I have see elsewhere they are selling much lower. See this UAE site for example:
P6: http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/huawei-ascend-p6-8-gb-wi-fi-+-3g-black-5700899/i/
ZR : http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/sony-xperia-zr-3g-black-english-5476197/i/
^ The ZR with an offer has the exact price of p6 i.e. 1600 AED (435$). While without offer, the price is 1650-1700 AED.
Maybe the ZR has 8gb, 16gb and 32gb internal memory versions. But with the P6 having 8gb internal, doesn't make a difference comparing it with 8gb of ZR.

Yeah, Sadly this offer is not here tho!
Just as mind boggling ! the old S3 is still much more expensive than the P6 ! ($100 more!) heck the S2!! is $50 cheaper than the P6
Samsung & Sony here never get any cheaper.
The only serious contender for the P6 with better performance and a better price isthe LG Optimus 4X ($385) on an offer! but it looks dull and boring tbh.

Agreed but the ONE costs $700 here
And I had a One X .. it melted and almost blew up in my face ... Never HTC again for me
If you can wait a couple of months, there would be the Nexus 5 out.
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/mobile-phone/3437472/nexus-5-release-date-price-specs/
But most probably it would 6 months until it reaches the middle east. So p6 is the best on the market for now.
just sold my note and got a black p6 Love it so far ... performance is more than adequate (which was the most feared subject for me) the OS/launcher is smooth as butter.

hi this is willi from egypt.
you said u can buy huawei ascend p6 100 dollars cheaper due to your credit points, what are these credit points ?
and from where can i buy it with a cheaper price in egypt?
and from your experience is it worth to shift to huawei from samsung while huawei doesn't have good service and maintenance and support in egypt as you know?
this is my e-mail [email protected]
i would appreciate if you respond real quick to my questions and help me regarding this phone in egypt. thanks
I have a Note II and my partner a P6. The P6 is an awesome piece of kit (as in bang for buck, you can't even get close to it with anything else...), and I see over on the P6 area of this forum, the first custom ROM is out. No CM or anything yet, but it's slick looking.
My folks each have S3's, and I consider the P6 as good as one of those anyday as far as daily use is concerned.

Good day everyone!
For the past two years I've been using Xperia Arc, and it lived a long and exciting life, but not it came the time to move on to something faster. Unfortunately, I am very limited in the amount of money I want to spend on my new phone, but I want to continue the tradition and keep with sony products. That is why I am here asking a question, what would be the best alternative for Xperia arc, which will be both quick and relatively cheap. I've considered Xperia V, Xperia Acro S and Xperia T, but i haven't found much of a difference between them, therefore, i need your help. What is the best Arc-like smartphone currently on the market for the cheap? ( I do apologize if I've wrote the question in the different thread, but I thought that it would be best asking Arc users for their advice)
if you want it with similar specs then get xperia J, it has a JB update and its cheap, plus has an appealing sony look

he clearly said "What is the best Arc-like smartphone currently on the market for the cheap?"
so Xperia J would be the best match for his budget
well, yeah, But I ment looking like Arc, not being slow as it is now! That's why Xperia V looks like the best of them all, cz looks like Arc (curvy) and ahve quite enough power.
My T beats the heck out of S3 almost in every benchmark.so T or V but v looks like arc more than T.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Thats what I have been looking for! and V does look like arc, so i guess, it should be v!
Is there any other similar smartphones on the market, similar to v
sorry for misleading you guys before, my English is not Brilliant
HTC has some dual-core alternatives, the One SV or the older One S. Basically any dual-core HTC from 2012 would be lightning fast compared to the Arc.
I'd stay away from LG altogether. Anything below an Optimus G is a junk. They all have horrible build quality.
I don't want to step any toes here but the Galaxy S3 Mini is a hell lot of phone for a very reasonable price. Phone prices depend on the market but in Europe, this phone sells less than the Xperia T (despite the price cuts on the T) and is a better phone (in my opinion).
Recently a friend bought an Acer. Forgot which model it was but it had 720p display in a 4.3 inch screen or something similar. He is pretty happy and I've seen the screen, it looks pretty clear and amazing. And the viewing angles are a million times better than the Arc (well, that's not fair, all Sony phones, the Z included, have terrible viewing angles. So maybe I shouldn't compare).
For that price no.there are some samsungs but they are heck ugly

I am currently living in Dubai, UAE, and prices on smartphones are quite cheap, however, I really dislike samsung design- they look too cheap, and a friend of mine owns S3 mini, says thats it's a great phone, but i dont like it looks. The thing why I like xperias was their UI, simple and usefull, compared to HTC Sense or Samsung UI. Thanks for your help anyways, I think I will have to go and look a bit more for them, or wait couple of month with Arc for now, which is barely living now( boot is slow, back cover broke, screen scratched, Overheating etc...)

Get a TX I'll be getting one in a couple of days :highfive:
if you want a good looking smartphone then go for HTC One, I know that is not sony, but it will provide you with a whole new experience. It is made out of aluminum so rock-hard. it has probably the best camera on an android smartphone (ultrapixels), and I read everywhere that the wifi range is breath-taking, the wifi range can simply blow our xperias away.
And you can see the rest of the specs HERE (not all info here are true, eg:camera)
Xperia SP (if affordable would be the best choice)
Xperia T
Xperia ion
Xperia L (cheapest of em all btw worth it)
If you're like me and wanting this phone, you'll be pleased to hear that the phone is now only £199.95

I do want this phone, because of the build quality and how slim it is, that is literally the only reason, but reviews seem so bad now, the performance is terrible and it over heats so bad
Maybe its worth waiting for the P6S ? But how much more will that be?
Jack
Now obviously if the pricing of P6S is going to be the same, then P6S is better. It just matter of weeks before it gone release. Its best to wait because on the one hand you can make a better decision seeing the performance of P6S and on the other hand, the price of P6 would further reduce when P6S is out.
Other than that it depends on your needs. P6S advantages being:
- Better optimized gaming and performance in general
- better battery life
- 16g internal memory
- maybe LTE
If your not a gamer nor heavy user, then the above needs arent really important.
I dont have the heat issues in such way its mentioned on websites. The highest heat i have experienced is when benchmarking at times, and it wasnt serious heat like its gone explode but instead heat at a level of feeling discomfort of not being normal. Most complains maybe cause of people using older firmware.
Mine doesn't overheat either. I mean, it gets warm when I'm using it a lot, but I guess that comes with having such a slim phone with an aluminium back which acts like a heatsink.
Looking at the P6S i think it's going to be thicker than the P6. Even just 1mm thicker defeats the whole point of having the phone (for me anyway). Once it's thicker than 7mm it's lost its' wow factor and it's then just another phone. Plus, I think the P6S is only a tiny upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6Ghz and looks like it will still be quad-core and not octa-core. Same screen etc. but with EMUI 2.0. However I would imagine EMUI 2.0 will also come to the P6......
For £199 the P6 is an absolute bargain. Updates are coming regularly and KitKat is reportedly coming to it in January (6 weeks...!). Buy one and if you're not happy with it you can take it back (buy it in-store though, they have a different returns policy for internet sales..!)

I got mine in august from carphone warehouse for £240 and it was a bargain then. Now its down to under £200, it's a even better deal! Brilliant pricing.
As for what you've mentioned above with bad reviews and performance. I have to disagree. I'm now running the 122 firmware and it's a massive difference compared to what I had the first few months with just the stock UK release out of the box.
Only overheat I ever had was when I originally got the phone and was testing the GPS. If you have the screen on constant I can see why it would overheat, but never an issue for me.
As for performance there are a few things I don't like, but they are mainly with the software/apps, so just replaced them with others from the play store. Getting about the phone and doing day to day things it is very slick and responsive. My wife has the S3 and its much better than the performance on that. She's actually wanting to get one now after playing about with my P6.
I never play games, but have it syncing emails all day, use the phone a lot, same with texting. Bluetooth is on at least 2 hours a day connected to my car audio, and I use wifi maybe for half an hour a day. I get 3 days out a fully charged battery. That combined with the slimmness of the phone is the winner for me.
Roll on january and kitkat :highfive:

Hello I'm thinking about buying the Huawei Ascend P6 at amazon for 194 Euros (261 USD). The alternative would be a Samsung GALAXY S III for the same price. But I have some question about the Huawei. How is the performance after you installed all the apps you need. Because when I had a LG Optimus 4XHD and the update for Jelly Bean came it lagged so much and became very hot. It was unusuable and I only had 3 apps installed. Does the Huawei really gets hot like it was mentioned in the reviews? How does the battery perform? Will it last a day without mobile data and just hearing some music and a little gaming? Or should I buy the S3?
Cheers
Honest Reply
The P6 is a great device but it does have many problems, like the gps in most p6's is useless and yes the phone does get quite hot sometimes(can apparently be fixed with software updates)The batterylife is quite good with the latest b510 software it will most certainly last at least one day with moderate-heavy usage. But for the value for money rather get the s3 it has a better camera (same pixel range but better sensor) Also with the b510 software the keypad sometimes lags which can be very annoying, The sound quality is good though, performance in most apps is ok but with games it does fall behind most other devices. So my opinion is between the p6 and s3 i'd rather take an s3. Hope that helps
Against the S3, go with the S3.
The P6 at that level will only work for you if you want something special and different, not if you want a speedier more capable phone.
Think Toyota Camry vs Subaru Legacy

Hi guys i'm from italy and i'm trying to buy a tablet. Use is only university and some videos. I found this second hand (still 1 year warrancy, not really used) lg g pad 8.3 at 150€ (ie 170$, 110£ for those of you who aren't from europe )
First question is: is it an affordable price? Only wifi version
Then, i would ask you about the battery life, and if it is still good (no lagging, fluid) through everyday use. I have a nexus 5 which i consider very responsive and very good, is it comparable? And what about a comparison with the ipad mini one (in italy has the same average price of 150€ for a second hand) ? It is older but it is still a good device. Do you think lg g pad would win 10-0?
Thanks guys!
150€ is quite a good price in Italy where most tech things seem to be more expensive than normal! Against iPad mini it wins hands down except maybe screen brightness.
Nexus 5 has s800 and Adreno 330 while this has s600 and adreno 320. It's very fluid, but there's some lag here and there sometimes when playing heavy games. And it has micro sd slot, so it's great to store movies! It also has a premium build quality.
Well I bought my G pad twice the price 300€ new about 1 year ago! Go for it

Only Korea and some Asian countries have lollipop for now! Verizon version as well. The rest are still waiting for an ota. The Korean version which is the same as international version can be flashed through pc via a custom lg flash tool 2014, thread in general section! Check devpt section for other custom roms which u may want to use. There's only minor improvements in custom roms. I prefer lg rom since my phone has cm12 just to not feel bored about vanilla Android.
Most of us here are using the Korean lollipop rom since it was available back in May or else you'll have to keep waiting for an ota to appear.
Excellent price for one. I would buy in a heartbeat at that price.

currently own the mate 9 for about 2 years . best phone i have had. fulfills all my demands. Only problem im still Android 7 with EMUI 5. other than that, this phone is amazing.
My wife needs a new phone since she currently is with the Redmi note 5. I thought about giving her my mate 9 which will be a major upgrade for her needs and getting myself a new one. After searching and reading for a while now, i have come up with 3 options that are similar to the mate 9 in terms of what I would like to have in a phone: mate 20 and mate 20x and honor view 20
I would have loved to have the 20x, but its way too expensive ATM (about $900 in my country) so it will stay as a dream. So this leaves me with the mate 20 and honor view 20 . Mate pro is not an option also, as its too expensive and i dont like the wide notch and prefer not to have a curved and tall screen but a wide one just like the mate 9.
About my usage... Im a light-medium user. I dont play much. Mostly watching Netflix and lots of browsing and sometimes listening to music, a little bit of FB and also whatsapp.
Camera wise, only taking pictures of family. not really going on a trip and using my phone to take pics of the view. I have a Canon camera for that, so I would like to have a good camera ofcourse but i dont need it to be superb and the best in the market.
Mate 20 will cost me about $670 for the 4/128 in my country or $724 for the 6/128 if I order from Ebay.
View 20 will cost $760 for the 8/256
Here are the questions:
About the Mate...I have heard mixed reviews about the screen quality and especially the speakers not being really quality ones or at least having the stereo effect. All in all, is it worth its price? Would like to hear unbiased opinions and especially in comparison to the mate 9 (screen and speakers).
Would the 4 RAM be enough?
Also, would the view 20 be a better buy although a little more expensive ?
I got Mate 9, Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro.
1. EMUI is still disgusting but it works.
2. Speaker are a huge downgrade, compare to Mate 9 and Mate 10 but is still better than phone like OnePlus 6T
3. The screen is 10/10. Its bright and sharp. It's not Like on Mate 10 but its still very good.
4. The battery life is the best one I ever got. I get easy 8h SOT with 2 full days, both sim on LTE. Its like Redmi Note with 4000 mAh but with power. Mate 9 and Mate 20 are behind and this already got good battery life
5. Fingerprint is almost the same (10/10)
6. Charging is the same
7. Speed of the phone is sick. Almost no waiting for nothing
8. Camera is better but Videos are still trash
Bad is not good, some midrange Xiaomi's get better support.
EMUI eats a lot of memory (600-700MB RAM free) at 4GB version.
The Honor brand will get even badder support in firmware, no dual speaker and this hole... I don't know
I will never buy again Huawei phones. The UI kills me, bootloader is closed and firmware support is bad. Hardware is almost 10 of 10.
I know Xiaomi has better support but there is no Xiaomi phone now that interests me
The problem is you pay for premium but you get firmware updates like 200$ Xiaomi line. Xiaomi is just a example.
From 6GB to 4GB, from 1440p to 1080p and from very good speaker to good speaker + you pay more but still get bad support.
I bought my Mate 20 10.12.2018, get 2 updates, security patch level still 01/2019 and we enter 03/2019.
I pay for Mate 10 545€ on first week and for the Mate 10 Pro 499€ 60 days after release. This time I pay over 600€ 60 days after release and still **** firmware with bad support.
Was there supposed to be another security patch in February?

The 6GB version for $724( 637€ ) including shipping and taxes in my country. Its not cheap, just wanna make sure its worth it.
none of the stores here in my country sell the 6gb model, only the 4gb. and its a premium phone with a premium price of $660. paying $660 for 4GB... Although the 6GB variant isnt that common from what i noticed
Funny thing, with that price I buy 2 redmi note 7

You will get 2GB RAM more but a lot of things will not work like VoLTE. A friend bought it, I think Indonesia versiin, with 6GB RAM, no VoLTE, no Wifi-Calling, Huawei Cloud sad "not supported"... So he sell it and buy 4GB version of Mate 20 and anything works
ok thank you. so its better to get the 4GB. Do you feel the 4gn is enough?
Is the mate 20 worth the premium price?
In my country, mate 20 6/128 costs around 520usd, so it's a very reasonable price for me. That's why I chose mate 20 and it's so far so good till now, no thing to complaint, no competitors in this price range.
4GB is ok but I have only 700MB left, with my Xiaomi I got 2.2 GB left.
Go for the 6/128 Mate 20, you wont regret it.
The guy saying the 6/128 does not support VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling is simply bs. Mine has both working on many networks, i travel a lot, and tested my device to the max, EVERYTHING works flawlessly. If something does not work then it means either the network does not support it, or the user is... ya know lol.
And before anyone goes bananas at me, i will provide any screenshots that proves what i said above.
Get the 6/128, stay away from the 4/128, the difference in RAM and cash will make the difference noticeable, trust me on that!
Cheers!
