If home button not working after reflash i guess the problem is in your hardware..

Yea, the title almost says it all;
After I changed the screen on my GN the volume down button is not functioning (1 of the 3 solderings is loose).
That was not much of a problem since I could just turn the volume down with the slider that appears, when pressing the volume up button.
BUT
I was too excited to try out the Optimus 4X lockscreen, so I flashed it and ended in a bootloop.
And since my volume down button is broken, I ask:
How do I get into recovery to perform a restore?
...srsly?
recovery is vol up+power, not vol down+power.

Afaik, without volume down button working you cannot enter bootloader OR download (Odin) mode. So basically, all you can do is try to fix the soldering.

Are you sure? Vol up + power button doesn't boot recovery for me.
If u are not in bootloop mode u can just using adb command to reboot into recovery. But if u are having bootloop then u have to enter download mode and flash with odin. I forgot what button is power+volume up, but any mode whether it's download mode or recovery mode are not a problem in android world

Yea, that is what I'm afraid of because I don't have any soldering equipment..
You can plug in and see if she's getting far enough in for an "adb reboot bootloader" but I'm not sure if that'll work.
Worth a shot!
Recovery is volume up + down + power. Volume up + power is Odin.

Can't you Odin push a ROM to the phone? And when you get in download ROM manager and recover your backup.

Sorry for the misspeak. Volume down +power is Odin and volume up + down + power is fastboot, which will get you to recovery.

No, because he cannot get into the bootloader, download mode OR recovery because of a faulty volume down key.

For adb to work, he must either boot into android or a custom recovery. He cannot do either.

My bad, I forgot his phone is in bootloop. So this means no hope? It's so horrible because my galaxy gio have a not working volume up and down, this means I can't make it bootloop or I'll end up dead like him

Is it just me or menu key - long-press task key - is not working in this rom?
Or could it be connected to me using stock kernel?

I am now on Titanium KISS and menu key is still not working.
So it is not caused by kernel.
Any more suggestions?
I had a copy of the CDMA-ified version of this and my menu button wasn't working either. Does the annoying black menu bar show up in some apps too? Idk what the problem was though sorry

If you have the black bar menu then it's not using the correct jar file.
I don't make any CDMA version, you need to check that with whom that made it.

Are you saying long press home button, no menu pop-up ?
As long as you have the correct jar file, menu pop-up when long press home button.

Hi,
I tried to overwrite ".so" file (was trying to activate CRT feature) ...now the phone won't boot...not able to go in recovery mode either when i press Volume UP+Volume Down+Home+Power button the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" Screen keep flashing again and again... I have tried flashing using CWM6 via mobile odin still same result please Help....what have i done and how to restore...
Using Samsung Galaxy GT N7100 (India)--rooted
I hope someone will help you.
You have to press Volume UP + HOME + power during about 5 ou 10sec until you see the Samsung screen. Not Volume UP + Volume Down in the same time.

You should try to flash a stock ROM with odin, not only the recovery. But i'm not sure of that, just wait until an expert help you.
Hello . U can acess the download mode ?

But i have no idea how that works and i should do that or not. I bought my phone one month back.
Please help ASAP i am very much stressed. :crying:
Have you rooted your device and have you installed any custom recovery like clockworkmod recovery? What causes your device to not boot up.

No i haven't done anything silly with my phone, also i haven't downloaded any recovery tools etc.
I was simply looking at the menu and browsing when all of a sudden this happened. There was a virus attack 'Recycler' on my phone on 20th march but after that i installed an anti-virus and scanned all through it. No other abnormal behavior since then.
Thanks,
Pradeep
So why don't you go to the service center as you have not rooted your device. If you wanna use the sp flash tool then you can install clockwork mod recovery. But that will void your phone warranty and if that does not work then you have to pay to the service center.

If you do not want to go to service center then I have an another trick which is safe and easy to use
Take out and plug again the battery. Now first click the volume up, home key and then press the power button for 5 sec. You would enter into the recovery. Navigate to the factory reset using the volume up and down key and press the home key and after it done reboot the system now. That will surely work if doesn't post here again what you are facing the problem

Well thats the ultimate path, but they are closed for next two days, so i thought if it's a normal occuring issue then will solve myself but then it seems going to the service center is the safest idea.
Thanks for your points.

Are you talking about the Recovery that we can see on screen by clicking volume button + power button
because i tried that but it didn't seem to be working or if you are suggesting something else then please elaborate.
Also i think my battery has drained out coz now it's not even getting started as it was doing earlier it's just bluntly dead. :crying:

Canvas 4 Reset
i tried it many times
using volume up+power
it shows me two options then i chose to recovery mode using volume down
then it takes me to many options from which i chose to hard reset and delete all my data
after that i chose to reboot system now, but i feel very bad every-time, it is not booting up.
it always just showing micromax symbol and getting off and on with the same screen.
Please suggest me, why i am not getting out of it.
Guys I'm currently on TWRP and Candy5 ROM. I set the pattern lock. And now it doesn't seem to unlock. I don't know what's happening with the device. I can't access it.
To the point I think the only way left is by going in to recovery and doing something. So I tried the button combination 'Power+Vol. Down' and then holding all buttons. I got a black screen of asking to Factory Reset with 'Power' button.
If I press the 'Power' button, will it take me to TWRP? In TWRP what should I do there to clear the pattern? Please Help guys.
