So a few times a day my phone will start bugging out, vibrating and the same menu that would pop up if you pressed the menu button would come up. I find it pretty weird, I can't reproduce it but it comes and goes.

This kinda sucks because I have a feeling it's a hardware issue, I'm over my 14 days and I'm scared that I might get a phone with LOS. Damn I thought I almost got away with a problem free epic.......

tonight mine freaked out a little bit but not exactly the same as yours. My phone appeared to freeze up for a few seconds and then anytime I pressed any of the capacitive buttons the voice talk app would say "what would you like to do?" I had to reboot it to get it to stop.

I Google's it a bit and it looks like others have this issue as well. It used to only happen once a day but lately it's more often. Issue seems to be getting worse. I know for sure tho when I bring it to sprint it won't happen at all and I'll have to argue with them.

Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?

Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

I have tried the 3 button combos for T-Mobiles variant of the GS-III with no luck either.... I even tried making a jig and didn't have much luck....
Next step is to buy a jig and see if that works
Thankfully I got a replacement GS-III from insurance. So I'm content... Also since I get to keep the other GS-III as well it feels even nicer.

Now my next step is to attempt to hope that the jig will do something for my phone.

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

The phone is dead. My friend's gs3 died suddenly one day while I just happen to be using it. I plugged in an otg plug and few minutes later the screen just went black. I was sure it was dead when I plug in a charger and there was no sign of life from the phone.
I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.

Hello
5 month Note 2 user that had almost no complaints till early april where my phone started lagging, restarting every few hours(it did restart once every 2-3 days since they day i bought it) and touch screen not being responsive. Result was the problem becoming worse and me having to search for it and finding out about SDS. I checked my phone through EMMC and it says my chip is insane... as soon as I saw that I tried backing everything up but as it turned out, it was too late..I've lost all my game data (I've managed to copy a few games but its a few stages back..for example my subway surfers save is like 2-3 months back...), i've lost ALL of my contacts and my smscontact backup says it has no contacts on the backupfile...
regardless, I sent it to the local Samsung retail and they kept it for a week, got it back today, same thing happening...They told me they found humidity + errors on my phone and they had to clear/wipe it out completely. Its been like 3-4 hours since i got it and it already got stuck at a black home screen error + unable to swap applications and once on a non-responsive touch screen. I contacted the Samsung retailer and he told me that it could be an error from my SD card. I highly doubt that, am using a san disk 32gb ultra speed and I only have movies on it actually so...
Now my 'questions'...What can I do? Rooting it can fix it? Or will it void my warranty completely? If I root and it breaks again can I unroot and send it to have it fixed? And if they cant fix it, do they replace my phone with another one? Like a new note 2 or a new samsung phone?
Thanks
Ps: already posted this on sprint forums by mistake and it was suggested to me to try removing my sd card..no difference

well it is what people say "symptoms of the sudden death" so probably and all says that( 5 months, strange behaviour. .) if they dont fix you can talk to them that probably it is SDS if not you'll have to wait until the phone dies or send lots of times (like a guy who said that here in xda) and they probably replace the motherboard. theres nothing at the moment to do if it have been affected by the corrupted data but you can update to the latest firmware which is suposed to have the fix
hope I answered your question

well the problem is that if the phone send some corrupted data to the chip when you were at 4.1.1 there's nothing to do.
The repair centre "doesn't know about it" because if they do know they'll have to asume that problem and they will lose money. The correct procediment is to change de motherboard however sometimes they just put an old one with the insane chip again. If you really want this phone and I assume that you do like it, when they replace and send it back update to 4.1.2 ASAP therefore they usually update before sending back.

You should have a new imei if they changed mb i think.
I bought note because of the screen, dont mind using it with both hands thats the price you have to pay if you want that commodity of big display.
And its charging like every phone, maybe a little longer but instead you have great battery life.

Nobody loses money but Samsung. Your local samsung service center is not Samsung company. They are third companies that have an agreement with Samsung to fix samsung phones officially in your country.
They lose money only if they replace a motherboard that is already working or not covered under warranty (user faults).
Once I talked(personally) to one of Samsung services in my country, they said mostly they are not able to understand these new generation smartphones. Most of the time all they do is just replacing motherboards, they said
My suggestion to you, print several sudden death syndrome reported web pages and show them or email them if you can. Samsung is replacing bricked motherboards with no question asked (even rooted ones).
Media volume bar is disabled now...

Read through the brick thread, its exactly what happened to yours. In short, Acer uses a faulty memory module and it dies at random. Some say even out of warranty it may be possible to get Acer to repair it, the case needs elevated, but as you didn't originally purchase it, that wouldn't be particularly ethical, but worth a try if you want.
Hello! My (Sprint, Galaxy s 2, Model:SPH-D710) is having a screen problem. (How it happened) I was on an app called vine when my phone froze. (How i tried to fix it) So i took out and put back in my battery hoping it would fix the issue (it didn't). When i restarted my phone it would just stay on the Samsung logo. Thinking my phone was broken i decided to Hard reset my phone. With looked like it was working. Until it stop'ed half way and froze. So i took out the battery again (knowing it was a bad idea). Now when I try to turn on my phone only my blue notification light comes on. Please tell me if there is anything i can do to fix this.

Solid blue is a full on hard brick, no choice but j-tag. Flashing blue isn't quite as bad, usually an Odin flash will fix it. Flashing could also be a voltage problem or a few other things.
Slithering from the nether regions of a twisted mind and tarnished soul
Flashing blue normally means that the battery is faulty. Since you have solid, I am positive that you have suffered and EMMC failure and I am not sure that J-Tag can fix that... It could be worth a shot, but I doubt it will be able to be recovered.

Well stryke. Sometimes jtag can bring it back. Other times even jtag cannot bring it back. It is a superbrick at that point and nothing will bring that chip back to life. You wont really know if its just hard bricked or super bricked until you try to jtag it. If there is a way to tell I have not seen nor heard about it yet.

From what I have seen, J-Tag has no issues on a phone that was bricked due to user error. This is a full blown out of the blue EMMC failure. I am about 80% sure that the chip is toast. I have had it happen on a Captivate. Sent it out for J-Tag, came back fixed, 5 minutes later it froze up. Pulled the battery and tried to reboot... Nothing. It was the exact same thing that happened to the guy I bought it from. He was on Facebook and it froze. Same issue.
The J-Tag might bring OPs phone back, but it is unlikely that it will last for even a day.

Depends on what is causing the solid blue. Solid blue just means it didn't finish POST correctly.
Anyhow, Josh (mobiletechvideos) will not charge if he can't fix it via JTAG - and I mention him as he is one of the premier solutions.
