Just got my switch from hero to desire yesterday . I follow my friends advice on flashing RUU and OTA to 2.2, even through I know that would lost the custom rom which is on the phone and the custom recovery I installed via unrevoked.
Now I have a phone with SW 2.09.405.8, radio 5.09.00.20 and h.boot 0.92 , But I found I miss the extra I can do with root and custom recovery. But I want to get thing clear before I do that. So here comes my questions
1. How can I brick my desire ? (which is clearly something I want to avoid)
2. Can I use unrevoked to load a custome recovery with 0.92, or is it possible to flash a custom recovery into it in h.boot 0.92 ?
3. Is gold card necessary for desire which is not locked? and I assue locked mean a phone from the service provider which can only operate in its network. Besides, what is that simlock thing under the bootloader option ?
4. Can I get root in my stock 2.2 ? or I should install a custom rom or a rooted stock rom ?
5. What would happen if I format boot then do nothing else ?
Thanks
Hi there,
After unlocking my Desire HD with the official HTCdev bootloader unlock service I installed Clockwork 5.0.2.7111102. From here I installed SuperUser 2.3.6.3 and it seems I have root access.
Both through ROM Manager as manual through ClockWork I have tried to install several custom ROMs. I did wipe the user data beforehand etc. But after reboot every time it keeps hanging at the white HTC screen.
I havent made backup of previous version. My phone is stuck completly. I can do nothing but only new rom..
Can someone please help me with this issue? Many thanks!

When you unlock using the HTC dev method you have to flash the boot.img separately.
Take the boot.img of whatever rom you want and flash it by running
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
For future reference the correct method is
1)flash rom in recovery
2)boot back into hboot and flash roms boot.img
4ext recovery has a new option of flashing boot.img when son all in the same step.(make it similar process to soff devices

You need to switch to S-OFF in order for flashing to be successful. Use this then once you boot into Hboot and see S-off, then you can try to flash the rom...
- international HOX (endevouru)
- rooted and running viperX 3.3.9.1.1 ROM
- HBOOT 1.36
- ClockworkMod v5.8.4.0
- Bootloaded unlocked via HtcDev.com

So im bored of sense and i like AOSP so i thought, what better than CM10. Ive followed instructions from here: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...d42-jellybean-htc-onex-cyanogenmod10-cm10.htm
and from here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_endeavoru
and whenever i try to install the ROM, nothing happens, it just stays at the 'quietly brilliant' screen. I think this might be due to me unlocking the bootloader through HtcDev, but I'm not sure (it says on the CyanogenMod site that devices unlocked through HtcDev cannot flash kernels via recovery).
Does anyone know what to do?
Read here.....the only thing that is missing are the actual flash commands used on a mac
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207652
And yes , we can't flash kernels with the recovery. They have to be flashed with fastboot commands with the phone in the bootloader/fastboot usb mode
Hello.
I recently flashed the blackrose hboot on my Verizon Droid Incredible 2. It flashed successfully but I lost access to recovery. I tried flashing all different recoveries available on the internet but none work despite being flashed successfully. Now I cannot install any ROM and am stuck with no root (after I flashed a stock ROM). Does anybody have any idea how to downgrade from blackrose hboot? I tried revolutionary but it says hboot 2.03 is not supported.
Any help is appreciated.
So yesterday i got a new phone (HTC One M8s) and the first thing i do is try to root it, so i unlocked the bootloader and then tried to flash a recovery, but when i went into the recovery the phone just turned off and i have tried flashing different versions of cwm and twrp, even stock recovery doesn't work so i don't know what i should do
