Hi there,
After unlocking my Desire HD with the official HTCdev bootloader unlock service I installed Clockwork 5.0.2.7111102. From here I installed SuperUser 2.3.6.3 and it seems I have root access.
Both through ROM Manager as manual through ClockWork I have tried to install several custom ROMs. I did wipe the user data beforehand etc. But after reboot every time it keeps hanging at the white HTC screen.
I havent made backup of previous version. My phone is stuck completly. I can do nothing but only new rom..
Can someone please help me with this issue? Many thanks!
Additional info:
S-On
HBoot 2.00.0029
Radio 26.14.04.28.M
Android 2.3.5
HTC sence 3.0
Software 3.12.405.1
Kernel 2.6.35.10-9931a37e
When you unlock using the HTC dev method you have to flash the boot.img separately.
Take the boot.img of whatever rom you want and flash it by running
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
For future reference the correct method is
1)flash rom in recovery
2)boot back into hboot and flash roms boot.img
4ext recovery has a new option of flashing boot.img when son all in the same step.(make it similar process to soff devices

You need to switch to S-OFF in order for flashing to be successful. Use this then once you boot into Hboot and see S-off, then you can try to flash the rom...

Hi All,
I have a dhd unbranded, radio s off and rooted but still running the stock rom but with a custom kernel for overclocking. It was just s off the other day and i asked a question about returning to factory settings and was advised to flash radio s off so if i want to return from factory rom to custom it can be done. I checked bootlander and the cid info which was htc_001 and the bootloader would flash up the recovery img etc but after i've done radio s off it showed cid11111111, so i flashed the android 2.2.1 ruu, unfortunately after having been running it overclocked at 1.4 i found it a little slow and not as smooth so i went into bootloader to reflash the backup of previous rom but says there is no imgs in p something .zip ( on on screen longer enough to see ) also the cid info is now missing. Had to flash the 1.32.405.6 ruu and then root and cwm and revert that way.
Is that normal after using radio s off for the boot recovery img to vanish or am i missing something.
Still new to android so please be gentle
Cheers Simon
not sure but you need to be ENG S-OFF to revert to previous backup not just radio s-off. again not sure cause i just moved from Desire to DHD.

Hi, you don't need s-off to flash roms,do a nandroid backup of current setup before just in case.
just download cm version you desired. Put it on your sdcard. from cwm, wipe data/ factory reset, clear data, system and caches (not sdcard) then flash zipped rom from cwm. Don't forget the Google apps pack (gapps) if you need market etc etc. Flash directly after rom flash, before reboot for best results.
All you need is in here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
" once its gone,its GONE."
All you need is clockworkmod recovery version 3 and higher for flash CyanogenMod.
Unrevoked supports this hboot, my wildfire is rooted that way (but still s-on) and after u r rooted just flash the rom via recovery
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
I've my Wildfire (no carrier attached) with below details.
ROM - Stock Froyo, 2.2.1
Kernel - 2.6.32.21-g6c55ee4
Software number - 2.25.720.1
HBOOT - 1.02.0000
S-ON
My objective
To have my device rooted and then flush a custom ROM.
What I did
1. Used a RUU from htcdev and ran it (file name "PC4910000_Buzz_Froyo_hboot_1.02.0000_R3")
2. Unlocked boot loader using the process mentioned in their website (now my phone shows "UNLOCKED" in volume rocker+power button start mode)
3. Used unrEVOked 3.2/reflash package to root my phone.
Now my problem
unrEVOked did not work. Because it does not support my HBOOT version.
I have tried with revolutionary before, with no other effect.
My Question
Apart from using a goldcard, can I use another WWE RUU to get HBOOT 1.01.0000?
It could have been better option for me!! Though, I could not find a RUU with HBOOT 1.01.0000.
Since you have already unlocked your bootloader you may be able to root your phone by using gingerbreak 1.2.
I personally installed Clockworkmod recovery then installed su through clockworkmod to root my phone.
I have unlocked my phone from htcdev website.
Can you please inform me of the process that I need to follow to install Clockworkmod recovery after that?
Note: I have tried with PC49IMG.zip and booting from Volume Down+Power Button. It hung for a long time showing "parsing the file".
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21310836&postcount=22 information from 3xeno and used the Fastboot method and got clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0. (PC49IMG.zip method does not work)
Afterwords I made a nandroid backup from clockworkmod recovery. (just in case)
Then I downloaded http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
and installed it from clockworkmod recovery to get root.

Well, the method you followed sounds good, and I tried it.
Somehow, my phone was not detected by "fastboot" ("fastboot devices" returned nothing, so the rest of the things failed).
I downgraded my HBOOT later with Goldcard, but now can't have any recovery as my phone is not detected.
Yippee!!! Revolutionary did it for me!!
Got S-OFF, HBOOT 6.01.002.
Now I'll flash custom ROM.
Thanks
Nice to know that you were successful.

hi
I tried to root a HTC Desire HD device
1. Unlocked via HTCdev
2. Installed custom recovery - clockworkmod 5.8.1.5
3. Tried to flash miui 6.1
now the device is stuck on boot ( htc logo)
I tried all the RUU files i could get, nothing works, error 191, 140,155
I created a gold card.
When i insert the empty gold card and reboot the phone, it remains stuck on SD checking
Loading PD98DIAG.zip
any ideas
i managed to get the goldcard working.
Still can't flash, some message about version is older.
Tried different roms.
The RUU exe still throws 191 error.
any ideas
Have you tried running the RUU when the device is in fastboot mode? That worked for me once when I thought I'd bricked it.
tried that.
error 191.
i need something newer that 3.13.0.0 i think
I'm starting to sound like a broken record. If you used the HTC unlock method you have to flash your boot img separately.
After flashing room boot into boot loader select fast boot and flash your roms boot.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img

Lol.... maybe you ought to keep a copy paste of the answer handy so you don't need to type the same thing over and over again
Sent from a dream.
found the solution.
reboot to fastboot.
unzip the PD98IMG.zip copy the boot.img and system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
after the phone reboots stock 2.3.5 will be on, 3.12.405.1.
Managed to gain root with some zip installed with clockworkmod.
Now i can't find a solution to s-off.

noxaro, if you wanted to gain S-OFF and root, you should have run the Hack Kit...HTCDEV is not a good idea....maybe a little more research would have leaded you here:

It won't work if u are running GB and downgrade to Froyo...That will mess your bootloader...just don't downgrade to froyo by any means!! Hack Kit works for all builds and version, just have to downgrade first in some cases...

That doesn't sound like works on all builds and versions.
It does not work on the mentioned version 3.12.405.1
I have the same situation. But within a couple of months my phone contract will end and I will extend this with a new phone. At that moment I will try to install some custom ROMS on my Desire HD. So first downgrade to 2.50.405.2, get root and S-Off (which I by the way already have (Ship S-off to be precise))
And than install ClockWorkMod and install custom rom.
I tried to install CWM from fastboot but did not manage to successfully complete this. I think because I have Ship S-Off and not ENG S-Off.

AAHK has supported 3.12.40.5.1 since version AAHK 10122011, It does not and will not support HTC dev unlocked devices. Although version 3.12.40.5.1 does need downgrading, this step is carried out by AAHK. AAHK is by far the safest and easiest method of obtaining root IMHO.

umm...it seems that u need to give a look at the manual again. All builds 3.x are not directly rootable, so you need to downgrade. The Hack Kit prompts you about that, and do it in case you are willing to.
Just one tip, if you install ENG S-OFF you will mess your bootloader...so, I would check the manual and the hack kit thread just see what you not supposed to do..

Yes it does, but a downgrade is needed first. The hack kit automates it all as much as possible, even the initial downgrade.
The bootloader MUST be relocked and the the ROM stock.

Just relock the bootloader with a stock rom/recovery installed and the hack kit will work fine.

Hello,
I tried to flash MoKee Rom yesterday, I downloaded the file from their website but on the screen it told me that there was an error because the rom wasn't for my Desire HD. Tried downloading twice and flash it again and same error appears. So I tried to install Cyanogenmod 11. Everything seems to be ok but when I reboot the phone it doesen't move from the white screen with HTC written on it. What can I do? I did everythime all the wipes needed (cache, dalvick, system). I've unlocked the bootloader with Windroid Tool and installed TWRP recovery with it.
I can get into fastboot and recovery mode. When I get into fastboot I have the following details:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-BOOT

Try doing a factory reset using clockwork mod(take a backup of your data first, although you probably would have before unlocking the bootloader.) You haven't done anything to the phone.
