HTC One V vs Sony Xperia Play - HTC One V

In terms of performance how different is the HTC One V compare to the Sony Xperia Play?

They mostly have the same internals, which are a 1 GHz scorpion with an adreno 205. The only hardware differences between the two, are the screen and the version of android, (4.0 on the HOV and 2.3.4 on the Xperia). The Xperia is also about 1 year older.

The Android version isn't a hardware difference it's software. Also the play has PSP buttons (which is a hardware difference)

Yeah, I know. It could have some performance changes through newer features being implemented in the new version of android between gb and ics, (if you stay on stock rom). Thanks for pointing that out though.

Status Update
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cm9-progress-update
The OG Motorola Droid (TI OMAP 3430 600MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX530 GPU, 256MB RAM) is officially not on the build list of CM9. Chipsets mentioned only go upto the QSD8250 SnapDragon found on the Desire and above. Even MSM7227 (600/800MHz CPU) with the Adreno 200 GPU is not listed so far.
Yeah, I didn't expect it to happen either. At least now we don't have to worry about whether we have the latest cm version
Even if we don't get cm9 we will get ics considering the G1 has ics port...

Has anybody converted his Arc to Arc S ??

Has anybody converted his Arc to Arc S ??
Wotanserver says you can flash an Arc S firmware to and Arc phone, but I have not tested it yet. Has anybody had the guts to try ??
Also, and as long as I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong), the only difference between the Arc and Arc S is firmware (same chip, just overclocked)
Arc S has different processor.

Is that really a difference?

hi
a lot's of people does not understand your question......
can The ARC-s bsband (Kernel , etc) flashed to an ARC to use (cheat) the ARC hardware for ARC S ?
i think this can be reality - BUt maybe nobody have flashed the arc S FW to and ARC to try it. ?!?!?
Arc with Arc S kernel will still boot @ 1GHz
Just use Doom's kernel and oc it, best and easiest way.
I know that the Arc S has the same CPU as Arc, just tested at higher frequencies, but why can almost every Arc S run stable @ 2GHz and just a few Arc?

Not really, but... ok!
they have different touchscreen and display drivers. the partitions of ROM are different. so you probably cannot flash ftf bundle for arc s on arc. get prerooted arc s stock rom zip and put it on arc. take oc kernel fron doom, patch up the baseband too if you want.

i think the "T" in the cpu name means that arc s cpu is an upgraded version of the arc cpu. they must have add something on the hardware, not just overclocked by software. that's why it's more stable at higher clock (2GHz).
besides the cpu, everything looks the same to me

Archos 101 G9 different versions

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused. I want to purchase an Archos 101 G9 tablet but I found many different specs or maybe just wrong.
So maybe you can help me out here. I already searched this board but couldn't find exactly my misery, but maybe only because no one else had?
I found versions with 1.0, 1,2 and 1.5GHz CPUs as well as with different RAM configurations - 512MB and 1024MB.
Of course, I would like to have the 1.5GHz and 1024MB version. Are the different offers really different devices or is it like the 1.5GHz CPU just stepped down to 1.2?
Also, I red somewhere that the 1024MB are always build in, but just 512MB are available to use with HC, but the full 1024MB are available with ICS.
So, maybe you can give me some details on this topic and/or some tips what to look at when buying.
Thanks in advance,
SilverstarX

Get turbo edition (the one with 1.5ghz and 1gb ram). It has small sticker in front side, right bottom corner saying turbo. They are mostly the same. Only cpu and ram differences AFAIK. They have same custom and official roms, so you can upgrade any of them to ics. I hope this answers to your question.

Also, I found "turbo" versions with 1.2GHz, too. That is what I meant confusing. So either the given details are wrong or there are different versions... thats why I'm asking here.

Smoother maybe. More powerful , how exactly ?
The GPU in the exynos processor has more power than the tegra. As it uses a smaller architecture.

Neither does stating that. Honestly there is no exact proof that either is noticeably faster. Both phones are 1.4/5 GHz quad-core devices. Yes the S3 has more RAM and a faster GPU but 2GB of memory isn't needed for this type of android device and it actually doesn't make it faster. Unlike the S3 gpu the tegra 3 has built in ram for the GPU (S3 uses integrated ram)
. The HOX also has a 5th deep sleep core and if you have seen the sense 4.1 deep sleep you will be amazed.
I could see the HOX have better benchmarks than the S3 but that doesn't mean it's faster or better. The devices are too different yet equal to compare and choose which one is better.

butt isnt the S3 all about benchmarks? the Mali400 is the only reason why the s3 ever gets better benchmarks even though the A9's are clocked slower, quad clocks are the same. The Mali400 is a great gpu but it uses integrated memory and the only reason i would ever say the Tegra 3 is better than the Exynos 4412 is because it has a dedicated GPU and a 5th idle core...... though i can only imagine samsung having a quadcore device with a dedicated gpu and a 5th companion core (nexus device hehehe).
Dont forget to tell that our oc is for daily use, not only to do a great benchmark and then go back to stock kernel.

Nice try
Htc One X Venom ViperX Rom + faux123 s kernel + Rezound Mod
Mine got 5912 on stock rom, no tweaks or anything, just root. Havent seen any stock SGS3 reach that score yet. All the HOX needed is proper optimizations for its SoC like samsung has to prove it can match and even beat its flagship in some areas
So, better screen, better camera, beats, better ui (imo) faster updates due to htc's track record vs sammy, more mainstream SoC for better game support and general compatibity for the future due to N7 using the same chip. Do we really have to feel threatened by the SG3? Its a hype machine just like the fruit phone

[Q] Gingerbread ROM for One V?

Can Anyone port a GB 2.3.6 ROM and Kernel to One V?
Well here are some reasons why GB rom is suitable:
1. Its not resource hog. The system does not require any advanced hardware(JB and ICS does). Thus for the 2 year old hardware it can give very high performance.
2. For Gamers: Phones with similar hardware as One V running GB (Ex: Xperia Neo V) runs GTA 3, Vice City, Temple run 2, Subway Surf Without any kind of LAG!! Thats right no LAG while playing GTA 3. (Neo V lags if updated to ICS so all the Older Xperia people are downgrading to GB.)
3. Battery life : It has slightly more battery life.
Disadvantages:
1. Some apps on play Store require ICS and JB.
Since the hardware on One V is too Old with single core processor and 512mb of ram the Older software such as Gingerbread is suitable.
So anyone with idea of Porting? ROM can be ported but "Kernel"?
It could probably be ported from the Desire S if someone was up to it. Ironic how I was thinking of this earlier.
What about the Kernel?
Nobody is gonna do the kernel
