help or info needed - HTC One X

Hi
I have a one x running 4.1.1 & RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed bootloader relocked.
Now the issue is that the phone recognises my T-Mobile sim & shows 3-4 signal bars on the screen I can use the mobile data surf the net but
when you make a call the phone goes through the motion for a second the ends the call doesn't even dial you just get a single tone in the earpiece. if you call the phone you get told "calls to this number aren't being connected" same with texts phone looks to have sent it but after a short while the a failed attempt after multiple trys back thers no problem with my sim as it works in my note 2 ive even checked with T-Mobile to see if prob was them but no..Any ideas are welcome.

First guess would be to flash a custom recovery and do a full wipe, and see if that solves the problem

Thanks desmond will give it a go I did do a fresh install of the mentioned Ruu would'nt that be the same as a full wipe ? Plus I was wondering if that was the correct Ruu to use

Well...
It's good to do a full wipe even after an RUU...
It should be the right one as you cannot install an ruu that is not for your CID and Model ID..
You might as well try re-installing that ruu again, see if that works out...
EDIT:
You should try flashing hboot as well... (if you are not on 1.72)
use one of these, just check it's fir your CID

my desire died out of nowhere... :( please help!, rooted with R5, MCR 3.1 for 2weeks

dear all,
My Telstra branded HTC Desire 8183 died out of nowhere.
Here's what I did:
Rooted with R5
MCR 3.1 ROM (custom kitchen with A2SD+) and r17 froyo rom (mostly MCR3.1)
everything went well, and i was happy with it for 2 weeks (blasting fast HSDPA speed and runs perfectly fine)
i noticed the signal strength was really low two days ago, i thought it was my area having service outage. (called and confirmed) I had my girlfriend's Nexus One AT&T version side by side she's getting full bars.
now the phone will show Emergency Call Only all the time, sometimes even with signal, i wont be able to use the data connection (it's show H, but cant even load google.com with the browser)
Diagnostics that i had done:
unroot with generic WWE rom with goldcard (since the telstra rom that people posted on here have 0.75 bootloader and mine is 0.8 so i can only use 1.21 generic WWE rom)
root again with R5 method
update radio
install MCR 3.1 again
replaced my sim card at AT&T store just to make sure
called AT&T to inquire about service outage
none of them works, now i'm stuck with a phone that doesnt make phone calls and data connection.
did i do anything wrong that mess up the radio of the phone? are these rooting guide and custom rom don't support 8183?
please help me! i really like this phone and it's such a waste to let it sit there
best regards,
ted
The emergency calls only thing is usually associated with a sim problem - like invalid sim, unactivated sim etc.
Have you paid your account?
thanks for the advise
yes i did...same thing happened, sometimes when i get signal, i cant seem to use data connection...cant even make phone calls...if im lucky i can make 1 out of 10 times..
i suspected the sim card problem, that's why i went to AT&T store for a replacement.
Solved
I had the same problem, I also have the A8183
To solve it, I went fastboot mode with USB plugged.
then on Android SDK, I did :
./fastboot-mac enableqxdm 0
./fastboot-mac oem boot
just fastboot for pc
and the phone reboot, turn it off and insert your SIM.
I knew it was fix first boot because sdcard was now mountable.
Then SIM was recognized.
But then I have USB problem in recovery, I think I'll need to flash the misc partition.

What you are describing is the fix for the usb brick issue. This is not the problem here.
To me this sounds like a faulty handset, as all the software fix options seem to have been done. I'm no expert though!
what is fastboot-mac
im using windows xp with androidsdk tools
i have fastboot command...how do i type that?

You can give the commands a go, but I doubt they will help with this. Have a look at the threads on usb brick.

hey guys, keep the opinions coming...thanks in advance!
Try flashing to a different compatible radio version as the version you currently have may be causing the poor reception/signal strength issues.

Hmmmm - the rooting process does not affect the A8183 - cos that's what I've got and it works fine. Maybe try and flash the Telstra ROM? That's the one that would have come with the phone in the first place. Who knows, that might reset something? Probably a long shot but you sound desperate!
You can get that ROM in the ROM sticky in this topic.
Now i have 0.80 bootloader it wont let me install the telstra rom since bootloader version being different (0.75)
any idea how i can override that?
After the rooting process when i first got the phone everything was working fine til two days ago

you could try this: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-com/310186/mcr-telstra-8183-mod-version-3-5/
I think that will work with 0.80 bootloader.
I guess it's not easy to take the device for repair as I'm tippin you got it through eBay or similar, and HTC in the US probably won't support the warranty.
I believe that i had sort of the same issue as you are describing, sometimes my 3G connection died, and there was nothing i could do too get it back, and it sometimes failed to make a connection when i tried to make calls with full coverage.
I don't know how i got the problem, because the phone has been fine since i rooted it 1 week ago.
I decided to go back to the latest radio update I had before I rooted, and now it works fine again.
I used 32.34.00.28U_4.05.00.30_2 from the stock HTC radios thread. (new users not able to post links)
Hope this solves your issue as well, I have an unbraded Desire A8181.

im going to give the radio you mentioned a try...would u mind telling me where are you located and what network provider are you with?
Tried that radio already now it shows signal but the behaviors are the same, feels like its trying to establish connection but got stuck on upload (not sure if thats the case since only the up arrow stay lit but not the other one)
@teddyonair: did u drop down ur mobile by any chance ??? might be some hardware disconnection inside is giving u this trouble i guess.... otherwise with so many software reflashing & modding,ur mobile should have been working by now....
u better get a professional help either from the htc or from someone who deals with htc repairs.... this is my sincere advice if u wish to listen to me.... hope u have not screwed up ur mobile.... might be a hardware problem... just try this once... ok ????
i've managed to unroot the phone with telstra shipped rom. phone has been acting the same way.
so im not sure if it's the hardware issue. anybody has experience how to send the phone back to Telstra Australia for repair?
thanks!
It sounds to me like you may have a faulty antenna in your phone

Emergency Calls Only...

Hi,
last night this problem just came out of nowhere. I was texting and calling fine like hour before I noticed it happen, but whenever I try to call it hangs up, and whenever I try to text it tells me to try again when service is available. On the lock screen it tells me "Emergency Calls Only", but sometimes it shows "Virgin" I'm with Virgin Mobile Canada, but still doesn't work. I've tried the following:
1. Pulling out battery and putting it back in.
2. Nandroid restore to when I first rooted it, and when it was working fine.
3. Take out SIM card, battery, and memory stick
4. Putting it into airplane mode and disabling airplane mode about 30 seconds later.
5. Unrooted to original Bell Stock Rom image from a thread and now have normal recovery
6.Data/factory reset
The only thing I do have a possible lead on is that yesterday I created a recovery tar file, from a recovery image I got from cwm website under AT&T, thought it was also for Bell (Model wise) as well, so don't know if that's the case, does that have to do with anything? I'm back to stock recovery and rom and from a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 and downloaded the Bell/Virgin image, and flashed with Odin, I am back to stock, but still did not fix issue. It says Virgin on the top sometimes, and sometimes back to "Emergency calls only" could the recovery flash have changed radio or something? I also did do a restore before I flashed the new recovery and when phone was being normal just before unrooting but that also didn't work. Now I am unrooted and not on custom recovery. But still no service. Most of the time the service is 1 bar, but even when it's on 5 for like 10 seconds, it still doesn't work. Is it me or my carrier? I also noticed that even when the signal shows full strength it tells me "Emergency Calls Only". Thanks for the help.
I'd call Virgin and ask if your service was interrupted for any reason.
Yeah I'm going to do that, but I just looked at the IMEI number on the back of the phone, and looked at it in settings, but it did not match the number it had at the back. It just says 0 in the phone settings. Does that have anything to do with it? I wanna know if this is has anything to do with that first before calling.
EDIT: Okay so I did some research and yes that is apparently the problem, so I rerooted to custom recovery, and followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 my IMEI is back, and matches, and it says "Virgin" now at the top of my lockscreen, but still, I can't send messages or call. Did the deleting of IMEI also delete something else I should restore? Or is it something on their side? I am connected to Virgin Mobile, but the connection is extremely weak, and does not complete any calls or texts. There's also "IMEI SV" under settings and it says "01" is that an issue?
EDIT 2: Nevermind I just had to follow post 3 after fixing IMEI in that thread I linked and it worked! In case you researched and got here. Follow thread I linked up.

I'd like to resurrect this thread for a moment. Papaniz's problem is exactly like mine, same carrier & country.. but the link is dead.. any idea what the process was or where another link might be? Thanks Guys

The thread was remove to avoid illegal problem. You'll most likely have to look somewhere else to recover your IMEI if flashing stock firmware doesn't fix it.

[Q] WiFi Not Working after Unlock and Root

I have a PrimoC phone that I unlocked and rooted then I installed TWRP and made a backup. I did not bother connecting to WiFi before doing this, but the phone was showing that it wwas receiving signal from VM. After installing TWRP with Hasoon2000's AIO and making a backup, I went to Settings so I could connect to WiFi and download MSL reader. WiFi is on, but the phone can't find any networks and it is no longer connecting to VM.
Any ideas what's wrong?
Phone is Primo C, CDMA
flash boot. img in bootloader via cmd...
Sent from my HTC One V
Where can I get that for the stock ROM? I've flashed the boot.img of custom ROMs on other phones, but not stock.
Open up the ROM zip from a stock ROM and pull out the boot.IMG. I'm sure there's some rooted stock ROMs posted in your dev section. Or from a nandroid backup from a stock ROM, if you have one.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
So would this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754036
or the Sprint one here?
http://www.filefactory.com/f/0eafb9c43276c308/
Alright, I flashed the boot.img, but it didn't make a difference. Still no WiFi or connection to VM.
Flashed boot.img a couple of times and rebooted a couple of times. No WiFi or service. What can I do?
Hi, maybe your device has lost It's IMEI. Would you mind posting the first 4 numbers of your imei found in about phone? Thanks.
Sent from my awesome HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
I don't see an IMEI anywhere... Do you mean IMSI? If so, first 4 digits are 3100
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. I ported my number to P+, so I don't have a working phone until I get this to work. I flashed another one of these HTC One Vs last weekend without this problem, so I'm not sure how I ran into it this time...
I recommend using SickKernel for Sense roms. Did you flash a kernel through fastboot yet? And did you flash any module files?
No I didn't flash a kernel through fastboot, nor did I on another HTC One V that worked fine last weekend.
I unlocked the phone with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598964
rooted with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751004
Then I installed TWRP and perm rooted by following Hassoon2000's guide and while using his AIO.
This is the same process I followed last week and it worked fine then. The only difference I can think of this time was I didn't even attempt to connect to WiFi before starting this process.
Thanks for the help.
Someone on another forum gave me a .zip called "Jmz-PrimoC-kernel-ICS-20120820". I flashed the boot.img from it and now the phone boots to the VM loading screen and then turns off and continuously reboots and the process repeats.
EDIT: I flashed the .zip and still have the same problem. I'm wiping the cache, dalvick cache, and doing a factory reset and then restoring a backup.
EDIT 2: Restored the backup, it loaded up the phone normally without the reboot this time. I unlocked the phone and a second later it powered off again and now it's rebooting continuously, but it makes it to the normal screen now before doing so.
Really need a phone for work guys. Please help me.
Alright, I did this on a second phone I got for my wife to try and figure out where I went. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted by following these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598964
WiFi worked after that and VM bars were showing up.
I then booted into Bootloader and opened Hasoon2000's HTC One V AIO Kit. I clicked on TWRP CDMA 2.1.0 and then clicked 'Flash Recovery'. The recovery flashed successfully.
I then made a backup successfully and rebooted. When I rebooted, I was getting 'No Service' and my WiFi doesn't work either.
I may have actually had WiFi and service after I flashed TWRP, but before I made the backup. I think I did, but I'm not sure. Anyways, all that is above is everything I have done with this phone since taking it out of the box. No idea what's wrong.
Please help.
EDIT: When I scan for WiFi on the 2nd phone, I am now finding my network, but strength is always poor or fair and it won't connect.
If the imei really is lost, you will not have a chance but taking it to the HTC service try flashing cwm instead of twrp, maybe that changes something
Sent from my awesome HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
How would I know if the IMEI is lost? I just don't see anywhere it would be in the settings under about phone. Can I just flash CWM over TWRP?
I followed this:
http://www.androidauthority.com/one-v-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-1-2-custom-recovery-115527/
and flashed CWM.
Still no WiFi or service. I don't need service with this phone, but I do need WiFi.
EDIT:
OK, so I am getting WiFi on the 2nd phone, but it's weak. When I'm right next to my router only the circle fills up on the meter and occasionally one bar will with it. Still no service though.
Hi, well I do not know the exact noun for this, but you can see it at settings, about phone, phone-identity. Sort for my bad English sometimes, I'm from Germany
Sent from my awesome HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
Under phone identity I only see Phone Name, Model Number, Device Serial Number, MEID, MEID Decimal, Phone Number, and IMSI. No IMEI. I checked a friend's working HTC One V he got on the CM sale too and he doesn't have an IMEI under phone identity and his phone works fine.
Also, I am now getting WiFi on the 2nd phone, but it's weak. When I'm right next to my router only the circle fills up on the meter and occasionally one bar will with it. Still no service though. When I go up to my room where another HTC One V running AOKP says ~35% signal, this phone drops.
Thanks for helping me.
You do have the back cover on right? Did you root both phones with Hasoons program?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Strange. I've set the language of my phone to english for testing, and I'm getting this (1st screenshot).
Instead of using About Phone, you could try opening the dialpad and dialing *#06# (star pound zero six pound). Now a text box like in my 2nd screenshot should pop up. Please only tell me the first four digits, because an IMEI is unique and private.
EDIT: zmk76 is right, in the back cover is the antenna built-in, so signal drop without the back cover is normal (I have really heavy signal drops without the back cover)

[Q] Disconnected because service is unavailable

Guys I am using HTC One X and facing a very frustrating problem. My data connection disconnects after every 10-15 minutes. When I go to the settings option it says ""Disconnected because service is unavailable"".. If I tap it to make it switch off and then tap it again to turn it on, it keeps saying the same thing "Disconnected because service is unavailable". The only method to make the data connection work gain is to
a) Switch to airplane mode, and then switch it back again to normal mode, and data connection would connect
b) Change the network connection mode to WCDMA (as its not available in my region, network goes off) and then turn it back to GSM or WCDMA/GSM (and the network comes back again) and data connects automatically....
I am not the only one facing this problem.. Check out these links too.

Even if you go to google and type "HTC ONE X d" it will show the problem in suggestions too. My HTC One X is not rooted. Its running on JB and stock Sense ROM.
Can anyone help me out ??
1) I have checked other threads before creating this new thread because on other threads people are talking about rooting. I dont have a rooted and phone and I wont root it now.
2) I tried factory reset many times. It doesnt help.
3) I tried other SIM cards too. And face the same problem with other SIMs too.
4) I contacted my service provider too. APN are all correct. I dont face any problem with the same SIM and APN in my other handset (HTC Inc S)
That is very strange indeed.
Did you mess around with the kernels, as that seems to be, very often, messing with the radios.
If not then it might as well be factory error... I would recommend that you try flashing a custom rom like ARHD or if you are not on the WWE version, then you can download the newer WWE rom from the ARHD thread as well.
If that doesn't help, well then, you might wanna consider bringing it to a repair shop.

ok.. i installed a custom ROM (AOSP) and the problem disappeared. But i didnt liked the ROM so i came to Sense based ROM (ViperX) and the problem started again. So it seems that there is no problem with the phone itself. It shows this problem when running sense rom. Any help ??
Try ARHD

No mobile service available

Good morning, from yesterday evening I suffer this annoying problem on my HTC 10. After tried to install Xposed Framework, on the next reboot I have no mobile service. It appears, in the upper left corner, "no service available". If I try to remove the sim card, it says that there isn't any sim card. I've tried the RUU but nothing, tried to flash some custom roms but nothing. It seems like something being corrupted in EFS, the IMEI it's ok and not null. Any suggestion to solve?

Did the RUU format the phone? I would try a format of data with twrp then install RUU. If that doesnt work could be a simcard fault. Try another sim.

I've tried with format data before flashing RUU, yesterday late night, but nothing, still no signal. I have tried the simcard in an old Samsung Galaxy ACE and it works flawlessly.
Can you use data? If you can I would get your IMEI checked to see the status of it.
Do not post it online here has it is personal information.

I have seen it be a bad IMEI if you can use data but not get any phone signal. That does not sound like the issue here.

No it is best not to share with anybody. Just google search check IMEI and it will bring up a number of sites. One other thing is, if your s-off you could try flashing firmware to see if that helps.
I had this problem. Try flashing a stock RUU for your specific device. Shut down immediately following the flash, don't boot into ROM yet. Boot into STOCK recovery by holding volume down and power to get into download mode, then select bootloader, then recovery. Once in stock recovery do a factory reset from there. Then reboot the stock ROM and let it do it's thing, optimizing apps, etc. That should fix your problem.
