Is anyone able to preload youtube videos on a wifi only 7. I have tried with no sucess. I have a limited data share everything plan so I can use my phone as a hotspot to verify my account but would love to have the video's preloaded to avoid using all my data. Thanks for any advice on this.

Hello all.
I used the trevmod to get tethering working on my device and everything up until today has been working great and could access everything with just the user agent mod.
But today I got the dreaded push message about tethering when watching netflix and doing homework. Web browsing still worked but my netflix stopped.
Has anyone else noticed that netflix is being blocked from tethering somehow now?
Anyone possibly know a way arround it?
I have installed hotspot shield on my phone and that didn't seem to make a difference.
It's not Netflix specific.
I've been throttled pretty much for the last couple months. Nav and cyan Pandora. Went out of town. Netflix takes up more data than Google

Not so much that it's throttled but actually blocked desktop streaming some how.
I started streaming ok then got the push message to my phone saying it was blocked.
Like somehow, even with user agent string being changed, it counted the streaming data of Netflix toward the free 100 mb before blocking even though never did before.
But yet, with user agent being changed, the web browsing itself never got blocked.
Even with the default ie9 user agent wasn't blocked either. Just Netflix streaming.
No one else has seen this?
I tried again today and in a different area just to make sure was not a fluke and had the same problem.
So now one else that does the work arround onT-Mobile tethering has noticed their netflix streaming is somehow blocked?
Tethering still works perfectly fine it is just the netflix that don't work.
Download hotspot shield vpn on the android market and run the vpn on ur phone. Connect with trev mod like normal and you wont need the user agent switcher. The way it works is it blocks tmobile from seeing the type of data you are using and they wont know you are tethering.

Hey guys! I have a Galaxy SII SGH-T989 and I'm trying to use the wifi tethering on it for free, without paying their crappy $14.99 per month extra. I've tried 3rd party apps, can't see the network on my other devices. I uninstalled the tethering provisioning app with titanium backup, and now when i start the tethering I can't connect any devices to it, I receive an error on the devices saying couldn't connect. Is there anything I'm doing wrong, or anything I can do to make this happen? I'm willing to try anything. I've looked everywhere, and none of the solutions I've found are working. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: When running WiFi Tether, when I check the log, The following things say failed on them:
Setting ad-hoc mode...
Setting essid...
Setting channel...
After hours of trying, i found a temporary fix. I backed up my room and installed cyanogenmod, and the wifi tether worked great on that. However, id really rather stick with my stock rom, i enjoy having the full functionality of syncing with my google account, syncing my apps, etc. So if there is some type of fix that would work that would be awesome, i really dont want to have to backup and restore everytime i want to tether. Thanks!

Use wifi tether from the market. You have to be rooted and set the app to your phone model in settings.

You can still sync your information with a ROM. As long as you are logging in with your Gmail account and click the option during setup to sync the information, it will be there. My ROM is in my signature, and the tethering works great, just have to click to turn it on.
Has anyone been able to get the 'WiFi tether for Root Users' or TrevE Mod working in Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 or any AOSP ROM on the SGH-T999? I ask because I haven't. I reached my 500mb cap for this billing cycle and want to maybe prevent that from happening in the future, or at least get it working.

What you are attempting to do is not possible? They should be able to measure the amount of data that goes through your phone, because it can be done on their end, so there would be nothing for you to exploit. My understanding of the tethering hacks were that they allowed you to tether if you didn't have the tethering provision on your account (whether you did not pay for it, or are unlimited, and they don't give you the option). I've seen the hacks that claim to be able to bypass the data caps, but unsure why it would be implemented in such a way that anyone could exploit it.

Well of course they can watch my data use, but whether or not I'm tethering with that data is another thing. I was able to use about a gig and a half last billing cycle on their unlimited plan, by just using TrevE mod (no vpn app) on Touchwiz based roms and only about 300mb showed in the tmo my account app.
I was under the impression from what I've read that apps like TrevE mod can give you more access untell they put the kibosh on you, and if you go though a VPN you can use it all you want cause all of the network traffic is going though the VPN app not Windows and Chrome etc. which they look for.
I'm mainly wondering if that app 'WiFi Tether For Root Users/TrevE mod' has worked at all in AOSP, even 4.1.x.
I think T-Mobile has improved their detection and now know when you're using those apps or mods. Lately everyone seems to be reporting that they do not work.
As to whether or not you could use em in cm, I doubt it. If you didn't see it say so in the op and it wasn't reported working by others posting in the thread, it's safe to say it doesn't.
Did you search and read through the thread?

I haven't seen tethering or hotspot mentioned at all in any T999 AOSP op i've looked at which is discouraging. For CM10.1 people seem to only talk about the the included tether.
As for 'WiFi Tether for Root Users' its so widely used any thread I look at is device specific most of the time, and/or for that devices stock rom. But there are so many settings in there though I thought maybe someone got it working.
If they did they would have posted it in the mods thread if anywhere. But if it can't be done you could almost certainly find that info in the same thread.

I am running CM10, rooted on a SGH-T999. Following the forums I downloaded Hotspot Shield as the post stated it was the only shield (VPN or otherwise) that would work with TreveE-Mod Wifi-Tether. Sadly, I found that using Hotspot Shield really slowed down my connection to a crawl and also caused problems using tether to stream Netflix, Hulu+. etc. I did find another VPN app that worked (Hideninja VPN) but it also slowed me down tremendously and caused issues with nationwide streaming copyright protections on Netflix, etc. as well. I do pay the $30 for T-Mob's unlimited albeit shackled internet package.
I have a newer Dell laptop running WIN8 and have not tested this on any other version of Windows but:
My SGH-T999, CM10 and TreveE-Mod all work together flawlessly to give me a T-Mob upsell to WiFi hotspot message in my browser whether I change the User Agent or not. :crying::crying::crying:
Then I installed UltraSurf VPN on my laptop and my tethered speeds are AWESOME!! WITHOUT having to change my User Agent settings.
No need for Hotspot Shield or HideNinja.... no VPN setup on my phone, just UltraSurf on my puter and the tortoise has turned into a hare!

Hi all,
Is anyone else unable to open any videos from netflix? It keeps crashign to the main screen as soon as video buffers to 99%
ive tried
uninstall/reinstall
clear cache and data and re sign in
reset to factory default of fire stick
DNS to googles 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4
calle netflix
called amazon
no one knows the answer. clearly there should be a solve easier then replacing the device??
any help greatly appriciated.
thanks
Do you have a video on pause in the background in Kodi?
No I don't even have Kodi installed.
I have narrowed to problem down to the netflix app.
Been playing YouTube for a while now without any issues at all.
No one else has experienced Netflix crashing on video load?
Any devs here?
I am pretty certain the problem is due to bad coding in the netflix app, since some nexus TV users were having this issue also.
I want to side load play store version of Netflix apk on to this thing. Are they the same app? Is this even possible and will the android play store version of Netflix run on FireOS?
Thanks
Can a mod move this to help and trouble shooting please? I just realized I posted in the wrong forum.
Thanks

Try clearing the cache in Amazon Instant Video app. Then Clear its data, don't worry you don't have to sign back in. Then clear cache in instant video app again. restart stick. Let us know if it helps

doesnt help mate.
can i install the phone version of netflix APK on the firestick? will it have issue of screen size differences?
I have found that if I use the netflix mobile app on a phone to find a video, and then "cast" it to the fire stick, it plays every single time with no problems. Video after video no issues. I can even exit app on phone and it keeps playing in the stick.
You may want to try this with the YouTube app also because it offers the cast functionality as well.
Based on this I know for sure it is not ISP related or hardware related. It is improperly coded app that was not properly tested before it was released.
behold the solution folks

Joseph L. says:
If you're having problems with Netflix loading to 99% and then crashing: Log on to your Netflix account via web browser on your computer, go to "your account" which is the settings page, and click test participation and toggle it off. That will make Netflix stop trying to play the Sense 8 ad that is causing this issue.

Wow! You were determined to find a solution and you did! Thanks! Netflix wasn't crashing for me but I was having the same problem above where it loaded to 99%. I haven't been able to test for results yet. Shouldn't take long. This annoying glitch popped up about 3 times daily...
