Higher CPU frequencies under utilised - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

I've just purchased a P6 and am very happy with it. Was a little apprehensive as some reviews flagged performance and battery issues. However so far for most tasks it seems as good as the Galaxy S3 which I use to own.
Anyway I has anyone noticed higher clock frequencies seem to be under utilised? Some games such as Rip Tide 2 slow down at times. But when using CPU Spy it shows very little activity above 1GHz. I'm sure frame rate would improve if higher clock frequencies were used. I'm running B111 firmware.

I've noticed the same Even with "Normal" Power saving mode the phone uses mostly 1ghz frequency. This is quite annoying...

This is more then likely because it has a heat threshold, as soon as it gets to a certain temperature, it will lower the clock speed of both the CPU and GPU

You can try deleting TemperatureMonitor.apk
Try changing the cpu governor with CPU no-frills or similar app

Same problem...
No frills CPU, ROM Toolbox, Game Booster (this work on Xperia P) not helped...
You can see on demand working CPU cores and speed at Cool tool (free from market). I tested many games: Real racing 3, Arcade Pinball, Stealth bastard, etc...

Before changing the governor, the phone never was at 1,5GHz
3 mins playing riptide, 3 mins at 1,5GHz
The phone has a default governor designed by Huawei that probably, it's battery conservative, change it to, on demand or performance
Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using xda app-developers app

Same issue here, the clocks are too conservative, i think the p6 can perform better. Ive emailed huawei about this, i hope they address it in the next firmware release.

I said it's huawei governor's fault, it's designes to save the battery... Change it to performance if you want the best phone speed

doesnt work that way.. first i puted ondemand, but cpu never went over 1000mhz, the i puted minimum 1500mhz and performance, and my phone started to lag like hell..

[Q] How do you overclock your Gio?

Hey guys, i got cyanogen mod 7.2 installed on my phone, and whenever i tried to change the max cpu speed from the settings, it would now work after boot. Most of the market programs i use freeze as soon as i try to apply my changes. I got "No-frills Cpu control" to work once, so i made it 844 max clock speed. (I confirm using android system info app"). EDIT: after another frozen reboot, the clock speed has gone back down to 787 again -_- . So frustrating!!
So i was wondering, which app do you use to overclock your gio that doesnt freeze?

Alright, so i got my max set to 864 and min to 245, and while im using it i get a bunch of random reebots every 3 min, and one sleep of death where it wont wake up unless you pull battery -_-. Using built in overclock still

Which is the best governor for gaming performance?
Performance or smartass v2
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
For performance the best governor is "performance". It causes that processor overclocking is always the highest. It means that if you have overclcked processor at 921MHz, with this governor phone will always work at 921MHz. But don't use it, it drains battery as hell
The best governor for daily use is SmartassV2, because it's balance between performance and battery
And sorry for my English :|
Na szczęście jest TapaTalk
which 1 is best for daily uses????
i am using smartassv2 but sometimes my phone becomes very very slow takes 1mint to slide the status bar phone apps etc.....
what is i/o schedular??? is it effect the speed?? which 1 is best???
Now I just use the On demand governor. Smartassv2 drains my battery pretty fast

Yup,any overclock will drain your battery quicker, this is very logical as you consume more power, right?I use No Frills CPU control, and i have my galaxy Gio set to 921 Mhz....! It realy works like asmall little pocket rocket now...I was already very satisfied with the price/performance ratio of this cheap little phone, but now with this stable OC it really hits it out of the park!!!No complaints from me about this phone..I'm gonna try and achieve an even higher oc,but it's really not a must, just want to know how far i can push it.No Frills has a benchmarker impemented ,very handy.

That's true. But smartass is just like balance between perfomance and battery drain, which makes it the best governor

CPU apps

I'm having trouble finding a CPU app that works perfectly with this phone. I've tried setcpu, CPU master, system tuner, and nstools. What's everyone using to oc this thing?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Depends on which rom your running but in general...you should use none. Most roms already uv and oc and if u use an app it'll butt heads.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
My issue is that it seems like my phone is skipping steps all over the place. I'm using cpuspy and the usage jumps between Max/min clocks. I'm kinda not digging that. Its the same with every rom i flash.

That's not an issue with your cpu app. It has to do with your governor (the thing that controls how your CPU scales). Most ROMs come with ondemand by default which pretty much does exactly that, which is jump from min to max as needed. If you want something that scales more, you should look at conservative (for better battery life) or lagfree/interactive (for better performance). Lagfree/interactive are only available on select kernels though (whereas conservative is almost universally available). Streamline definitely has them and I think synergy does too.
Also CPU apps don't butt heads with the ROM/kernel default settings, it just overrides the default settings.
Yea I figured that but this is the first phone I've had where on demand performs that way. I've had a nexus s, epic 4g, evo, and a g2 and they all scaled across the steps ondemand. Ondemand on this phone works like the min/max governor. But your right conservative scales across the steps well. Just a bit choppier. About to install nstools and mess with the threshholds and whatnot.

Gpu overclock

Hello
I'm currently using a note2core asylum kernel which supports both cpu and gpu overclocking. My question is, how do I go about overclocking the gpu? Any help will be appreciated.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Don't need that overclock note 2 is an excellent phone more than a phone...my oppinion
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I know. Its all for.research purposes anyway
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I'm not sure if note2core supports stweak but that's the app you need to over clock. There are other but I prefer this one. It will give you a maximum slide to 1800mhz and also tons of other features such as adjusting charging amp, under volting including for the gpu as well. There's not much to know about over clocking as its pretty straight forward but you can change the xpu governor and the number of cores you want activated and how you want them to activate based on your usage. Under volting will help with both temperature and battery life although I find the changes almost insignificant, but you should try it out. If you want to undervolt start with around - 25mv.
Sent from the rabbit hole.
You are talking about cpu not gpu
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Okay it's not that different. Just over clock it and undervolt at the same time to - 25mv and then download an app called stabilitytest from play store. Run it for 10minutes and see if you get any error. If not then further lower the voltage to - 50mv. But usually - 25 is good. I noticed that anything higher clocks peed than 5xxmhz starts causing error and graphic glitches.

Tried it. Note2core not supported

A CPU question

I want to over clock my phone and under clock it when I'm not using it to save battery life is there anyway to do this I've tried a few apps and they didn't do much
What is the lowest clock rate for the phone bc on the apps it puts it at 384
Thanks for the help

The lowest safe rate would be 384 but you would be a lot better off
to get the "JuiceDefender" app from the play store.
It has a lot of features including auto cpu frequency and you can set it up
so it automatically handles all options needed for the very best battery
savings modes without sacrificing performance...
My personal opinion which is not worth much is NOT to mess with
manually over clocking, under clocking or volting but instead use a
true and tried app like JuiceDefender to do all the work for you.
Check it out at the play store.
Thanks I'll try it out

Hey i got a question about CPU. Im running wicked rom with Deviant Kernel. My max and min freq keep changing. My kernel allows me to overclock to 1944 but i set it to 1620 and min at384. im using smartsassv2 and cfq but it keeps making my maximum 1350. no matter what i change the gov. to or the max. I reinstalled rom and and the kernel seperate. to see if it would make a differecne and same results. Please Please Please help me fix this
I'm not an expert but I think I can some what help you. Are you toggling the set on boot?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You need to install a custom kernel and possibly a custom ROM.
Then you can overclock/underclock to what your kernel supports.
I've seen kernels that allow min at 94 and max at 1944.

Your CPU is overheating and it lowers the freq to make sure that your phone won't become a toast.

Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
U may actually consider undrclock yourself when gaming
because most games depends more on your GPU than CPU (like real racing 3)
underclocking will slower the cpu a bit, but u wont overheat that fast
so u can do gaming smoothly for longer time actually
if u have unlocked the bootloader and got a kernel that support GPU overclock, consider overclock the GPU but maybe underclock cpu
