Hey guys, i got cyanogen mod 7.2 installed on my phone, and whenever i tried to change the max cpu speed from the settings, it would now work after boot. Most of the market programs i use freeze as soon as i try to apply my changes. I got "No-frills Cpu control" to work once, so i made it 844 max clock speed. (I confirm using android system info app"). EDIT: after another frozen reboot, the clock speed has gone back down to 787 again -_- . So frustrating!!
So i was wondering, which app do you use to overclock your gio that doesnt freeze?

Alright, so i got my max set to 864 and min to 245, and while im using it i get a bunch of random reebots every 3 min, and one sleep of death where it wont wake up unless you pull battery -_-. Using built in overclock still

I feel that the Smartassv2 cpu profile consumes more battery than the On demand one. Anyone here think the opposite?

Possible. But smartass also gives more performance than ondemand governor

I'll have to try that, I am using on-demand currently
Which is the best governor for gaming performance?
Performance or smartass v2
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
For performance the best governor is "performance". It causes that processor overclocking is always the highest. It means that if you have overclcked processor at 921MHz, with this governor phone will always work at 921MHz. But don't use it, it drains battery as hell
The best governor for daily use is SmartassV2, because it's balance between performance and battery
And sorry for my English :|
Na szczęście jest TapaTalk
which 1 is best for daily uses????
i am using smartassv2 but sometimes my phone becomes very very slow takes 1mint to slide the status bar phone apps etc.....
what is i/o schedular??? is it effect the speed?? which 1 is best???
Now I just use the On demand governor. Smartassv2 drains my battery pretty fast

Yup,any overclock will drain your battery quicker, this is very logical as you consume more power, right?I use No Frills CPU control, and i have my galaxy Gio set to 921 Mhz....! It realy works like asmall little pocket rocket now...I was already very satisfied with the price/performance ratio of this cheap little phone, but now with this stable OC it really hits it out of the park!!!No complaints from me about this phone..I'm gonna try and achieve an even higher oc,but it's really not a must, just want to know how far i can push it.No Frills has a benchmarker impemented ,very handy.

That's true. But smartass is just like balance between perfomance and battery drain, which makes it the best governor

Just bought it but I don't really get it. Both the max and the min. Are at 1.5 set on on demand but at the top it says 384 mhz (I'm guessing that's the current clock speed since I'm not doing anything) don't know which one to trust. should I set the min. at 384 ?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Set the min at 384 and the max where ever you want. Stock is 1.5. You can underclock or overclock (if your kernel supports it). If you overclock dont check set on boot til you have played around with your phone and are sure that your phone can handle it. You can choose what ever governor works best for you. Conservative is best for battery, performance is the worst. Most people go with on demand, but your results may vary.
I've found that the smartassv2 governor gets me the best results.
But its very unstable and can cause crashes.

thanks man i just dont know why it doesnt say 1.5 at the top since both the max. and the min. are at 1.5 maybe its a bug or something or maybe thats how it is

Try clearing the data on set CPU and then uninstalling and re -installing. If that doesn't work, but into recovery and wipe data and wipe dalvik .

Or if that doesn't work go into your superuser app and hit menu, then preferences and update your superuser binaries. Sometimes if they are out of date it can cause issues with set CPU.

Helps if u put what kernel your using? I think some still don't have deep sleep... mine hasn't I'm on doom kernel with oc
Sent from my R800i using XDA
charge to 100% then go to cwm and wipe battery stats
There is some info I saw saying underclocking whilst screen off helps, but be careful because if you get it wrong your screen won't come back on.
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Wifi is stopping deep sleep afaik. Switch off wifi when you're not using it
i use doomkernel v11 oc to 1.2ghz. and im not use my play for call just gaming and internet.off the wifi and on the plane mode and set profie in setcpu when screen off set to powersave governor.i left it at night and the battery still at the same % in the morning.
hmm. i want undervolting but i cant do that. how can i do that. which settings ? and, what's the best Cpu governor. I dont know what is ondemand, powersave etc. And i set CPU Profile to Min 134 Max 806. And rom is still Smooth. my wifi is closing but still battery drains fast.

For undervolting try IncrediControl. Best CPU governor? Depends on you but personally I like smartass v2 . BTW I'm using KA11 ICS Rom with DooMKernel and my battery life is quite good
The way to get best battery life on ICS Beta is to install DooMLoRDs Advanced Stock kernel. This has fully working deep sleep, as it uses the stock Sony kernel, but also has CWM, root etc.
That's the only kernel I recommend at the moment, until we get the newer kernel sources.
Also use SetCPU or some other app to underclock when your screen is off.

When not on wifi its like im not using any battery at all (maybe max is -1% battery level per hour.
I am overclocked at 1.4ghz max and min is 576mhz (ondemand governor) and I use Sytem Tuner (the best all in one system tweaker for me ). I set my screen off behavior to 921mhz conservative governor (this will underclock my phone while im not using it). My read/write cache is 6144mb. I use Juicedefender and set it to advanced mode and let it underclock my phone when idle as well. Im using .62 firmware and JokaWild Rom v2.5 with Xperia S Package. My kernel is Doomlord's kernel v11 and I do not have any battery issues. I always have a good and not corrupted nandroid backup as well as Titanium backup in case my phone gets crazy.
I'm new to the Galaxy Nexus and I'm coming from an OG Evo that I was using SetCPU with....
I wanted to see if anyone could recommend settings for the Kernel Updater...I'm looking to keep the battery going as long as possible in between charges.
also, if I use this app then I don't need to use SetCPU, correct?
no you dont need set cpu.. everything u need is within that app.

I personally use 192 to ~1200 MHz. With SmartReflex on (disable it if you want to do custom UV).
Play around with Generic Hotplug. It may be good for you and it may not.
I have my governor set to ondemand (it was on interactive but Franco recently changed it back to ondemand as default)
TO EVERYONE WHO USES franco.kernel updater
Please be aware that the "Turn off Thermal Throttling" feature in the latest franco.kernel updater app actually Turns on Throttling down CPU frequency when it reaches more than 70 degree C.. So just remind it that it is Vice Versa
I use ondemand governor, 384 min 1420 Max. Battery life is quite gd for me

I want to over clock my phone and under clock it when I'm not using it to save battery life is there anyway to do this I've tried a few apps and they didn't do much
What is the lowest clock rate for the phone bc on the apps it puts it at 384
Thanks for the help

The lowest safe rate would be 384 but you would be a lot better off
to get the "JuiceDefender" app from the play store.
It has a lot of features including auto cpu frequency and you can set it up
so it automatically handles all options needed for the very best battery
savings modes without sacrificing performance...
My personal opinion which is not worth much is NOT to mess with
manually over clocking, under clocking or volting but instead use a
true and tried app like JuiceDefender to do all the work for you.
Check it out at the play store.
Thanks I'll try it out

Hey i got a question about CPU. Im running wicked rom with Deviant Kernel. My max and min freq keep changing. My kernel allows me to overclock to 1944 but i set it to 1620 and min at384. im using smartsassv2 and cfq but it keeps making my maximum 1350. no matter what i change the gov. to or the max. I reinstalled rom and and the kernel seperate. to see if it would make a differecne and same results. Please Please Please help me fix this
I'm not an expert but I think I can some what help you. Are you toggling the set on boot?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You need to install a custom kernel and possibly a custom ROM.
Then you can overclock/underclock to what your kernel supports.
I've seen kernels that allow min at 94 and max at 1944.

OK so I rooted my Nexus 7 last night and installed ROM Toolbox to be able to manage the CPU. Was just wondering if anyone else is doing the same and what speeds you've adjusted too? I've found that ROM Toolbox will only let the max CPU speed be adjusted and applied on boot and the min CPU speed always resets to 1026 even if you change it and check apply on boot. Anyone else having this issue? Currently I have my CPU set at 1350ghz max and 1026 min.

I doubt you'll be able to mess with that until a custom kernel is released, and then you flash it..

I've never had this issue with any of my other devices running on the stock kernel. I've always been able to change max and min CPU speeds. Obviously the max is set by the kernel as is the min CPU speed available but you should still be able to under clock the max and min CPU speeds any where in between those set speeds of the kernel.

Installing SetCPU was the second thing I did after rooting (adblock is always first) and my settings survive reboots no problem... Max and min stay where they should, as do the governor and scheduler.
When I first opened the app and detected settings it did have the min up at 1026 like you say, but has stayed down since I changed it.

Yeah I switched from ROM Toolbox to SetCPU and haven't had the same issue. SetCPU has allowed me to switch the max and min CPU speeds along with governor and scheduler. Weird that ROM Toolbox wouldn't hold my setting, never had that issue before.
