[REQ]On-Screen buttons for Legacy CM 10.1 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm newbie and I'm using custom rom called Legacy cm 10.1 20130815
I quit like it, but I want On-screen buttons cuz I'm sick of pressing key.
I've tried edit build.prop, but the size is too large and I heard that it cause freeze sometimes (m not sure) .
So, anyone has it? Please kindly share it to me.

[build.prop tweak] softkeys enabled

To all those who want softkeys enabled at their rom if they don't have that option you can edit build.prop ( it must work with most jelly bean and ics roms)
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot
Softkeys enabled
works great. Thanks

purelook hd rom
I'm using purelook hd rom and it has xperia engine in it. Can't get the soft keys on it. Need help as I can't survive without these.
LMT
hi, as an alternative to standard softkeys, you could use the app LMT (requires root)
it supports gestures, expanded desktops and Pie Softkeys with long press function as in Paranoid rom and some more nice features
Could be interesting for some

Is there a way to customize the "Recent" soft key to "Menu"? When I added the script while using the CM10 rom, I could change them around in the navigation settings. I recently switched back to the stock JB version, but added soft keys because my hardkeys stopped working after I dropped it in a spa
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers!

Nope u can't edit it with this mod... For doing this u have to edit other files
Is there any way to make the Soft Keys smaller.. (at least 50% smaller than its original size/height)... its because my phone (the Galaxy S Advance) has a resolution of only 480x800.... I just feel like there is not enough space on my screen to be honest, that's why I'm asking this....
(Post Added)
- I can't take Screenshots anymore, using my Home + Power Button
- My dialer app is getting covered with the Soft keys.. so I can't call anyone because I can't tap on the call button

[Q] On screen buttons on OpenSEMC 0.5

Hi,
I got a question about enabling on screen buttons in OpenSEMC 0.5 running android 4.2.2, what is btw one of the best ROMS I've ever seen.
On AOKP 4.1.2 the option was integrated but the dev of this Rom haven't included it yet, so I need another way to get my loved on screen buttons.

Easiest way..
Use root explorer..
Got to system/build.prop
Enter qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 at the bottom..
Save it and change the permissions to rw-r-r..
Reboot and enjoy..

Thanks.
I gonna try it.
App-Choose
OK,
I tried it and works fine.
But am I wrong or are the buttons bigger than on a Nexus 4 or Galaxy Nexus?
I think they are a little big too big
Another thing maybe somebody could help me with.
I have Google Now and Alicoid (like Siri but on Android) and with the latest version of Alicoid, you're able to put the App into I call it "long-home-button-press-menu" (idk how to call it. I'm German )
But in my case (idk if anybody else noticed that yet because Alicoid is not such a famous app) there is only a Search button (like in 1st Screenshot)
And after I selected that search-button the normal app-chose menu pops up (2nd screenshot) and let me choice between Gnow and Alicoid.
Maybe sb can say me if there is any possibility to get rid of this app-choser and to have both apps in the "long-home-button-press-menu".
I know my discription is a little cofusing put i hope somebody knows what i mean
Thanks!
EDIT: Screenshots added!

Sorry, wrong post :S

How to take screenshot without using hardware button?

Is there any app that can take screenshot using for example a small button overlay on screen?
My phone is unrooted for some apps to work.
I searched and the only way is to connect to computer via USB.
I wonder if I can flash some package via recovery to enable me to take screenshot for unrooted phones.
Thanks a lot!

There are a few custom ROMs that you can set a a Nav bar button long press to take screen shots. For example, I have my recent apps button set to take screen shots on long press.

Not that I know of especially without taking code and merging/compiling code which is what people that ROMs do. It would be easier to flash aokp ROM or team eos (my daily driver) which you can do this. You can customize the colors too and also assign the nav buttons to launch apps.
