Anyone ever notice that on slim bean (that's what I'm using but it probably does the same thing on most 10.2 roms) when you hold the clear recent apps buttons it clears all apps and requires super user permission. What's the difference between just pressing the clear button and holding it? What's the permission for?

I never used Slim, but CM doesn't have the function (CM has the clear-all function on the right-up corner of Recent Apps screen). PAC has similar function but different (press Recent Apps once to reveal apps, and then the button will change to a "swipe-away button", press again to clear all). Both doesn't require any permissions. I wonder what Slim is up to...

It grants permission to systemUI. I still have no clue why or what it does extra.

Is there a way to close apps using the "other apps" area, ie when you hooks down the home button and see list of recent apps, Swype left or right to remove from list, but this doesn't close them. Is there a way so that it will close the apps?

Task Manager
or
Giving phone a mini-bath
Yeah use task manager
I just want to be able to Swipe then away like it has without without having to go to another screen. For example (sorry to use this as an example) on iOS a user can double tap the home button to see all running apps and can close the apps right there. I want to be able to do the same thing with the system we have.

Can I ask why? Android handles task/memory management without your intervention. The only time you should have to manually close an app is if it stops responding.
swiping from the recent list does close them...
Yes, this is correct, swiping from the recent list does NOT close any apps, it just clears them from the list.
If you wanted to force close an app click the task manager button, then click exit or exit all on the Active Applications tab.
Wrong..... It does close them. End of discussion. Look at your task manager then do the screen wipe and clear all tasks... Check task manager again... All gone.

It does close them but beware, unless the application is ACTIVELY running in the background closing applications will do nothing but free a little RAM (which you have plenty of) and will decrease battery life if you restart the applications at a later time.
Right now I have 26 Apps "open" and have no slow down. All in all I suggest you leave them be.

Which CM10 are you running? The nightlies in Nov and Dec have a kill all button in the top right corner. (Looks like steps) press it and voila!

I believe that is to clear all notifications. He wants to be able to clear his recent apps drawer of all opened apps. I am not running CM10 so I'm not sure how to activate it on CM10, but on AOKP it's in in Settings--> ROM Control --> General UI.

The clear notifications is if you drag down the notifications bar.
I wrote that message at 4:15am and was half asleep. I forgot to add that you have to hold the home button and the icon is there to kill all.
Unless it isn't what that icon is for...

Just update. In About Phone should be Cyanogen menu for updates. Its an auto installer. Everything is done for you after it downloads.

Removing apps from the most recent list does not "kill" them. Android will "kill" apps when it needs to.
Does anyone know how to close apps when you hold the middle button down without swiping them all? Task managers don't work. Please see my photo

If you are on stock rom, i'm afraid there is no easy solutions ... i didn't find any myself
On custom rom, some give access to a button to close every running app, CM10 for example, on top right of the screen
Hi..I installed xda premium app on my HOX..And i can't make a new topic cause i don't have menu button on the bottom of application.. Is there any update or something?
What button do you normally use to open in-app menus ?
It's weird that HTC just put in Back, Home, and Recent Apps (I use the "Menu" button all the time, why would they make that hard to find ?). Is there any way to configure those ? Do any of those buttons perform the function with a long press (my home button will do recent apps on long press) ?
Now i will show ya for example i use 24sata application..

I Googled it and found this : http://www.androidcentral.com/htcs-fix-menu-button-issue-welcome-not-very-elegant
You can set the "Recent Apps" button to function as a Menu button on long press or vice-versa.
Thank you!
Bro... button savior app is available on play store...
Try it for more keys...

Are you serious?
Can you please it make it more civilized? It is the only app I have with over 100 installed with such an amateurhour obnoxious directory.
So not sure if anyone has this issue but after changing my ROM I am no longer able to hide my keyboard by pressing the back button. Most apps I can tap the screen to hide it but some require me to hit next or something on the bottom of the page and my keyboard is blocking me from doing so and pressing back just takes me to the previous page...I included a picture of what happens
