i have been following xda for quite some time now and have some experience rooting and flashing custom roms. my htc sensation was fully rooted running cm7 before i upgraded to tmobiles galaxy sii, finally got the galaxy sii rooted today had it for about a week. downloaded a custom rom and kernel from the internet from this link... galaxys2root went into recovery made a backup, factory reset, cleared cache and wiped dalvik cache. then proceeded to flash a custom kernel to the stock os which was the Siyah Kernel. the installation was a success then still in recovery everytime i hit the power button it would turn off the screen, so i pulled the battery and tried to restart it. now it does nothing no vibration when i hold down power, cant get it into recovery, cant even get it to charge. i am aware of my mistake now which was flashing an att galaxy sii kernel to my tmobile phone. but i have no idea how to fix this error. PLEASE HELP!!!
Can u hold volime up and down and plug phone into USB via computer while the phone is off? If so download mode should appear. If you can access download move, look in Android development and download the .tar for stock. Select pda in Odin and select the .tar and flash the stock T989 ROM. Or if you can access recovery, do the super wipe and flash a separate ROM. If I helPed, hit thanks button

It is most definitely toast. You can try a jig, but it will most likely not work. It must be sent in for warranty or jtag'd

You got it from GalaxyS2Root? They have all the S2s ROMs. Probably installed one not for our S2. Yep, totally fried. Try to get someone to J-Tag it. Theres plenty of people on this forum. Price ranges from $50 to $80. Good Luck
Tried putting it into download mode and bringing it into recovery no luck the phone is completely unresponsive. But I thought rooted phones aren't covered in warranties?

I installed a version of Aristodemos (slim) on my phone and nothing happens literally. It does not boot into recovery mode. I'm still searching for the ZIP file that I downloaded. Please help!
Does it power up or can you get it into download mode?
ok. I had aristodemos version 3 on it and put this zip on my phone after the wipe process........slim-i717-2.7.0-official.zip. 87,995,996 bytes. now it doesnt turn on or how you say power up. any thoughts?? if I could get it to turn on I could zip my other rom back on. Thanks for any and all help!!

Have you tried a factory and data reset to factory settings from the recovery? Usually fixes the problem. Always do that before and maybe after a custom rom zip installation.
He said it wont boot into recovery, but he didn't answer whether or not he can get into download mode. Thats his only hope if recovery isn't booting.
I cant get it on turn on period. if I try t boot into recovery, it does nothing. very stange!!
oh yea..... nor does it go ino download mode for some reason. sorry about that. what happened??

This may not be it but are you sure the phone is charged and has enough battery life? I'm wondering what battery % you were at when you started the process?
Maybe try removing the battery for 10 seconds and trying to boot into recovery again?
phone was fully charged.

According to what you wrote you installed a ROM for 717 not 747 that could be your problem

that is what i installed.I made sure (at least i thought i did) that it was for the at&t version. you are more than likely right. so where do I go from here?? ugh!!

From download mode, if that works which it should, use Odin to reflash stock ROM then install CM10 over it after reflashing CWM.
Sounds like you have a hard brick man. Mobiletechvideos Jtag service is what you may need.

Isn't this for the international version?
So this is kind of a unique issue i'm having. I have the I-747 on AT&T and flashed AOKP rom (it was taking too long to get JB). It worked for about 3 days and then got stuck in the android boot screen (used the rom feature to get rid of the pink unicorns). after that, I booted into recovery and reset my phone, and it worked again for a few more days, then it wouldnt boot again (I dont believe I changed any settings between the boots). After this time, it wouldnt let me boot into recovery and would only boot to the android start screen and stop. I used odin to flash the stock rom, which only took me to the 2nd samsung boot screen and stopped (after the AT&T splash shows up). I looked online and saw someone say try CF-root using odin, tried that and it didnt help. Then tried using a custom kernel siyah s3, and now it will only show the initial samsung splash screen before turning off again. Any suggestions here? I figured I'd stop researching since i dont want to really mess up my phone worse than it already is

Thanks guys! So I used odin to flash the stock boot loader and stock rom, but it is still hanging up on the 2nd samsung screen like it initially did (the one after the AT&T boot animation). Any other ideas on what could be the cause?
How long is the hang? Sure is just not the 1st initial boot of the new rom?

The first boot can take as long as 5 minutes sometimes. So, if you haven't waited that long, then try out some patience. Otherwise, try booting into recovery (stock now) and factory reset.

I have this same issue. I have restored to stock rom and it does the Samsung boot, then AT&T, then it goes to Samsung pulsating with a blue pulsating LED.
I have left it in that mode for at least 15 minutes and it never boots.
I can still get into download mode.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I let it run for 2 hours (left the house came back and i was still on. And phone wont boot into recovery at all ( i tried many times, but it just boots normally and skips recovery until it gets to the 2nd samsung screen, then stops there).
I dont know if this is relevant, but while the phone is off and plugged in, i can still see the battery meter and the Green LED (so i'm guessing it's still working, it just wont boot)

I went into recovery many times before, I'm definitely hitting the buttons right but it still wont go into recovery, it just tries booting like normal. I can go into download mode easily, but that's it.
jbizz, did you start getting this error after flashing AOKP rom also? trying to figure out what could have caused the issue in the first place
I'm not really skilled on these things, but I once had a similar issue with my phone not booting and had to end up using Kies to emergency restore it. Odin wouldn't recognize my phone but kies would.
Although I think my issue with odin may be stemming from my computers usb ports...

Fixed it! What I did was go into Kies software and did a firmware upgrade instead of trying to flash from odin, then put it in download mode instead of recovery, but it still worked. Thanks for all the help, guys! guess it's time to move to a CM based rom?

Sure, I'm doing this largely from memory since I mostly figured it out by throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Open Kies->tools->firmware upgrade and initialization->enter model name then serial number (they're behind the battery) -> put the phone in download mode and plug it in. it should take care of the rest.
Fair warning, this will fully wipe your phone, i lost all my pics (thank you google+'s instant upload or i'd be PISSED) and titanium backup (there goes my 3 stars on every level in angry birds and great scores in temple run), but at least you get a phone that can function as more than a paper weight, right?

Now I need odin flashable stock (preferably) ROM. I tried to find it here and no luck.
Can some1 help me? Canadian or AT&T version should work
POWER OFF PHONE....... Once it’s turned off, press volume up + power button + home button simultaneously and keep them pressed until you see the recovery mode...
Now clear cache, and dalvik cache....then do a factory reset within this menu. Once done reboot....This helps when bootloops occur...try this before using odin..its worked for me and many others...

Buddy, I know what bootloop is and how to get rid of it I tried this yesterday night couple of times - it doesn't work.
Now, I cannot mount internal sdcard as USB device. in advanced I'm choosing this option, but nothing happens. I do not have (yet) external microsdxc card (ordered a day before).
So, the only way for me to fix that is to find odin flashable ROM. Have some1 saw it somewhere?

The thing is - I CAN get to CWM, but due to lack of space (well, to be completely honest with ya - my stupidy) I deleted good CWM flashable ROM (Jedi 3.2) which was working for me to give a space for the new one (Jedi 3.3). I broke my personal rule #1 - all the times have a chance to reflash back thus to have a copy of good working ROM on sdcard. Now I'm stuck:
- in CWM I can flash smth, but there's no good ROM on sdcard
- I tried to to hook up the phone as USB storage. It was working for me on my previous Captivate w/o any hiccups and I was thinkng it will do the job on Note2. As I can see - not really: I'm selecting "USB Storage", but nothing happends. I tried linux and windows PCs, different cables and ports (front and back ones), I installed Samsung drivers on windows machines - nothing. That mean I cannot put anything on sdcard.
- the most funny thing - an hour before that I bought Sandisk 64GB microsdxc card on ebay to be able to keep ROMs on my phone. But for now I don't have one to put firmware on it to be able to flash it.
- I checked download mode - I can get there as well. Looks the only way for me to alive my phone.
Again, thanks a lot, guys, really appreciate your help I'll download this tonight and will flash. I'll keep you posted with results.
BTW, I think it's a good idea for some1 like me stuck in bootloop to be able to get these ROMs from "[REF] Your one-stop shop for the Note II (Kernels, Roms, Guides, Modems, Etc.)" topic. I think I have to PM moderators to ask them to do so.

Can you enter Download Mode for Odin?
Phone off; Press Vol Down + Home Button at the same time then power on.
If so use the latest 4.2.1 One click exe flash. Brings it back to complete stock no root.
Remember, after the flash with the .exe one click you must
= Boot into recovery and clear both caches (not sure if dalvik is listed in stock recovery.)
= A factory reset.
Otherwise it will just get stuck at the Samsung Logo.

Copy this to an empty microSD card using dd or its WIndows equivalent (copying it as a file will not suffice, guides for using dd are everywhere):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/231uhy6l80jx74n/debrick_sph_l710.img.xz
I recovered my Sprint Galaxy S3 from an international ROM flash using this - the previous owner tried installing the Omega ROM, which I didn't know about until I peeked at the internal storage. Anyway, just turn it on with the card inserted, it should get you into download mode. Remember to take the card out after it boots! Then you should be able to flash a stock ROM with Odin or Heimdall.
Ok, I just had a friend do this today. What is dd? Trying to bring his phone back from the dead.
